After spending time in Ireland, Kent Ashton has returned to America. It’s his chance at a new start, and he’s determined to go all the way to California–far away from his past and the list of regrets he’s left behind. But while in Omaha, Nebraska, thieves rob him and leave him for dead in an alley. That’s when Dave Larson finds him and brings him home so he can recover. As soon as Kent is better, he plans to continue his journey to California. But Dave’s daughter, Rose Larson, has other plans. She’s bound and determined to make him her husband. Sure, he might protest, claim he’s not the right one for her, that she’s better off with someone else. But she’s not one to give up, and if she has to chase him to get him to the altar, then so be it. *Kent Ashton was the villain in Falling In Love With Her Husband. He was also the main character in "Kent Ashton's Backstory" which tells his version of events during Falling In Love With Her Husband.

What's to say? I write a lot. I read often. I sleep little. Once in awhile, I've been known to clean the house. A number of kids live in my house and there's this guy they call dad and I call husband. All in all, it's a pretty good life. :-)

What a total disappointment.

The heroine ruined the whole book. She was arrogant, childish, pushy, obnoxious and acted completely outside of propriety for the time...to the extreme.

I felt no romance between the two MC's The heroine was pushy, annoying and irratating about how she chased after Kent. He wanted nothing to do with her for most of the book , and I can see why. In fact I have no clue why he fell in love with her at all. Not once in the whole story did the hero initiate a kiss it was always the heroine. It basically felt like the h was the man and I didn't like it at all.

Needless to say, Kent's "falling in love" with Rose felt forced and unnatural. I didn't buy into the motivations or reasons behind either of the H & h's thought processes or actions.

It was a total turn off when she kissed him while he was unconscious it came off as a form of rape in my mind.

I get what the author was trying to do, but she failed miserably. I know she was trying to show how the heroine was unlike Ann, and would not give up on Kent and would only ever love him...the execution of this was poor and cartoonish. It just didn't work for me.

The whole Madeline thing was obvious filler as well as all the stupid story references that were thrown in. It became boring, immature and repetittive.

The author also missed major plot oppotunies deciding instead to take the easy way out. Especailly in the end when the father comes back.. it was a total joke.

I don't recommend this book.. it was awful, but if you insist on reading the entire series read in the following order:

"Falling in Love with her Husband"
"Kent Ashton Backstory"
"Catching Kent"

100% safe. There is sex, one or two times, but to be honest at that point I was so done with the book I didn't care.

I chalked it up to MC's being both virgins even though there was no hard core confirmation. The author doesn't usually condone pre marital sex..and Kent didn't have sex with Rebecca as was implied in the other books so there it is. There is an odd reference to the heroine not feeling a "barrier" during her first sexual experience.. why was that written.. I have no clue..she was a virgin and there was no further mention of it after.

Sorry, I like this author very much but I cannot give a dishonest review. I will continue reading RAN's book's and remain a fan. This is only the 2nd book of the almost 40 I've read of hers that I didn't like.. so those are pretty good odds.

Pollyanna like, Rose determined to marry Kent while Kent grieving & hurt wants to pursue his plans.

Kent is appears as the heartless villain in Falling in Love with Her Husband but he's been away, learned respect from his Uncle and on his way to his fresh start is robbed & badly beaten.

Rose is the daydreaming twin, fanciful, impractical, intuitive, has a way with animals & people. Many want to court her but she's waiting for the one and sees it in the face of a battered stranger.

Strangely sweet.

Catching Kent By Ruth Ann Nordin
Nebraska Series
Kent Ashton has just returned to America after over six years with his uncle in Ireland. His past has never left his mind, his dislike of his parents and his failed venture with love. On his way to California the train stopped in Omaha and Kent's life took another turn. Was it really a turn for the worst or was it fate?

Rose Larson is opposite of her twin sister Harriet. Rose's outgoing personality seems to attract both people and animals. She also goes after what she wants. And she wants Kent. She believes everything that happened to him was to bring them together.

Kent's story starts in Falling In Love With Her Husband and moves on to the prequel Kent Ashton's Backstory, which mirrors the first book from Kent's point of view. Things have never been easy for him and life has proven that money does not bring happiness. Although, how can one not be happy when in the presence of the Larsons? After all, Dave Larson is the most beloved fictional character ever. Just ask him.

Finally! But worth the wait.

Finally! But worth the wait.

In Falling in Love with Her Husband, we're introduced to Kent Ashton, who is the villain in the story. However, in Kent Ashton's Back Story we find out that things aren't always the way they appear, and Kent becomes a sympathetic character. Finally, in Catching Kent, he's the hero, and a more deserving man would be hard to find. I loved the book (actually, all 3 of them) and my only disappointment is in how quickly he went from wanting nothing to do with Rose to deciding to marry her. I would have liked to see the struggle in his mind developed a bit more.

I thought the female lead in this book was unrealistic in her assumption that the two would be together. She was annoyingly, absurdly "romantic" -- so much so, that I can't imagine someone secure in themselves wouldn't question her maturity and ability to make a fully informed decision regarding her life partner. Moreover, after his past, I find it hard to believe that Kent stuck around and put up with her attempts at manipulation. Honestly, I would tell my son to run because she is most certainly not ready to make a decision on whether or not to marry him. I didn't care for Rose at all, and would rather hear what happens to Harriet.

Kent Ashton and Rose Larson,
Loved this story that is well written with charismatic characters and witty dialogue. Their story has a lovely HEA.
