Euell Gibbons' Beachcomber's Handbook by Euell Gibbons (David McCay 1967) (641.694). This volume, like many of Gibbons' titles, is basically a forager's handbook. As the great man said, “Many parts are edible.”

Such a great book! The writing is straightforward, with enough background to help me understand what I need to know to appreciate the foods I might be able to find. On the other hand I hope I don't have to eat some of this stuff. It's pretty far removed from my palate. But I sure like knowing about it. Euell Gibbons took the time to make it so clear, how to find food, how to fix it with minimum equipment.

My copy is stained and worn from handling and toting around.

Enjoyed this book much. Took me to a place I have never been but have always wanted to go. His outlook on life, the freedom he had, and his reliance only on himself is something we all need to experience.
