Aanrader. Wel eerst deel één (her)lezen.
I'll comment here even book 1. "One Night in Rome" by Jim is one of those graphic novels that stays with you long after you turn the last page. The premise is deceptively simple: two young lovers, 20 years old and full of fire, record a tape on a shared birthday, promising to meet again at 40—no matter who they’ve become, no matter where life has taken them. What unfolds is a story that’s tender, bittersweet, and incredibly human. Jim captures the emotional tension of rekindled intimacy, the nostalgia for what could have been, and the quiet ache of lives lived in parallel. The dialogue feels real, unforced, and full of nuance, and the artwork—elegant and expressive—matches the tone perfectly. There’s a final twist, too, but it never feels like a gimmick. Instead, it deepens the themes and brings the story full circle in a way that’s both satisfying and moving. This is a book about second chances, the fragility of time, and the power of a single night to echo across decades. I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates graphic novels with emotional depth and narrative elegance.
