She needs vengeance, he needs forgiveness, because when she was drunk, she tried to kill him, and he killed her instead. So they engage the help of his dark witch friend Certainly Jones – Magenta stabs him and gets her revenge, he asks forgiveness, and she grants it, and then Certainly exorcises her. And Magen and Lucian love… and she can write anywhere. Ahhhh

Vivi and the Vampire - Kendra Leigh

Justin, vampire king of Terra Noctem (hidden, 3rd dimensional city for paranormals) needs a vacation (according to his sister) as does Vivi Martin, vampire hunter. They meet when she is taken by surprise by 2 vampires, and is pinned down, and he rescues her. Vampires are not to hurt/kill humans; vampire hunters are only to kill vampires who humans… but she is in league with hunters that want to eliminate all vampires – and 2 hunters show up at the resort because of rumors of a high profile vampire … and though Justin and Vivi want to vacation for a week, to not bring their other lives to the week… and they hide away in his wonderful room for a few days… and just as he is getting ready to propose to her, and invite her into his world, the hunters show up… and Vivi steps in to defend Justin… and is hurt… and Justin and his Fallen angel friend defeat the 7 hunters… and Vivi lives, and declares she wants to be turned, and wants to be with him forever.

Island Vacation - Lisa Castle

Piper Reynolds – forced into modeling by her stepmother, a life she hated (taking accounting classes as she could to earn her degree); it ended 4 years earlier when a vampire that her mother courted, pretending to be Piper through emails, bilking him for lots of money, comes to her to turn her (per her email request – made by her mom because she didn’t want Piper to get older and ruin her modeling career) and bites her even though she’s fighting him… and she accidently finds the stake in his jacket and accidently stabs him in the heart, and passes out among a lot of her and his blood. Her mother gets her to a doctor – a vampire doctor – who convinces her it was all a nightmare, and gives her pills that stave off vampirism (that requires she take a vamp’s blood to finish the process)… and she goes into hiding, changing her name to Patricia Reynolds, and working 12 hours a day for E. Graves Financial Planning (e stands for empty)… with highly confidential clients (vampires)… and the vamps kill her mother because she knows so much. And the vampire she killed is cousin to Roarke Monterusso, who has been looking for Piper for 4 years, and believes that Patricia is her… he arranges for the manager to find her the winner of the firm’s lottery for a 2 week vacation, and arranges to have her brought to his island, where he plans to kill her. Instant attraction – she knows to lie about who she is , and he believes her and starts to feel bad..and she has an attack, he gets her pills, sees that they are from the vampire doctor… they make love… she wakes up and is shaky… tells him the truth, at least the nightmares she remembers… and he goes to the doctor and gets the whole truth, and convinced of her innocence, returns, tells her the truth… and they are both able to confess their love….

Vacation with a Vampire is a romance anthology of three short stories featuring vampires. Before I started this anthology I had read only one of the authors works before, so I may be a bit biased. I found that I enjoyed Kendra’s entry, Vivi and the Vampire, more than the other two stories.

Stay by Michele Hauf
Magen is a freelance writer vacationing in France. She hopes to have a fling with someone, in order to spice up her life and do something different. She goes to Lucian’s shop in hopes of finding a gift for her friend. He’s an Italian vampire living in Paris and he’s quickly attracted to Magen. Lucian is a love and leave ‘em kind of guy and finds himself not leaving. Magen ends up being possessed by a past lover of Lucian’s, who is out for revenge.

While an interesting concept, I think it was too much for a short story. There was just too much information crammed into the story. While I did like the characters and the writing, I found the French annoying. I’m reading, I want to know what I’m reading and I don’t know French.

Vivi and the Vampire by Kendra Leigh Castle
This installment featured a character from Castle’s Renegade Angel, which was published in 2010. It features Justin, the king of Terra Noctem, an underground Vampire city. His sister forces her two thousand year old brother to go on vacation. Justin meets Vivi on the beach while two idiot vampires are trying to harass her. She’s a Hunter – a slayer who is supposed to kill bad vampires.

Although I hadn’t read Renegade Angel I didn’t feel lost in its world. Just enough was explained so that the story was understandable. It was a nice, lighthearted read with romance and action that had me rooting for Justin and Vivi. If Vivi and the Vampire was a standalone book I wouldn’t hesitate to give it a four or more star rating.

Island Vacation by Lisa Childs
Piper Reynolds won a contest in her office for a vacation she doesn’t want to take. Once she lands on the island and is taken to the house she’s supposed to be staying at, she quickly realizes something is off. Roarke Monterusso is seeking revenge for his cousins death, but Piper claims she’s not at fault, but is she?

This story once again suffers from cramming too much into a short story. One moment Roarke is ready to kill Piper and two minutes later he wants to screw her. Okay, maybe not two minutes, but you get the point. Everything just moved way too fast. I don’t know about any of you, but I’m not hopping in the sack with someone who wanted to kill me five minutes beforehand. I don’t care how hot you are!

If it’s easy for you to suspend belief and you don’t mind that the characters fall in love ultra fast and you love vampires, then this book might be for you. For me, the romance aspect just moved too fast in two of the stories and at an unbelievable speed.

Vacation With a Vampire Anthology
Stay by Michele Hauf
Lucian Bellisario lives in Paris and owns an antique shop. Most of the antiques are things that he knows of personally because he happens to be a vampire. When in deep need of some blood after “donating” some of his for a friend, he is glad to see a customer waiting at his shop. Meal time.
Magen Sloan is visiting Paris for two weeks. She left Minnesota with the goal to enjoy herself and have an affair with a Frenchman….who would whisper sweet French nothings in her ear. Her adventure turns into a bit more than she planned on. She just didn’t expect vampires, ghosts and witches.
Vivi and the Vampire by Kendra Leigh Castle
Justin is a king, at least in the paranormal world. He is over 2,000 years old and is usually buried in work behind his huge desk. Until his sister, Dru, pushes him to take a nice relaxing vacation in Florida. Reluctantly he goes and duty calls immediately as he has to pull a vampire off a Hunter. And then his vacation really gets interesting.
Vivi is going to take a nice non-vampire vacation. Yeah right! No sooner is she enjoying a walk on the beach when two vamps start arguing which one is going to bite her. And then she is rescued by the most handsome vampire she has ever laid her eyes on. The two of them call a truce for their vacation but the Hunter’s who hate all vampires….whether good or bad….have other plans.
This was a really good story. The unique romance between the hunter and the hunted. They should have been natural enemies but the heart didn’t see it that way. The author has written Justin’s character in such a clear way that you fall in love with the quiet, lonely and handsome vampire from the get go.
Island Vacation by Lisa Childs
Piper Reynolds won a vacation. At work they held a yearly lottery and this year was for a vacation and she won. She never had been on a vacation. She worked since fourteen and had been hiding out for the past four years. Trying to escape her nightmares. When she lands on a private Island it looks like her vacation may be another real life nightmare.
Roarke Monterusso has wait four long years for revenge. When the person claiming to be Patricia Reynolds came to his Island...she denied being Piper Reynolds. The person his long awaited vengeance was going to be taken out on.
Another enjoyable story where nothing is what it seems to be and Piper has secrets about herself that even she don’t know about.

(3.5 stars = I liked it)Vacation romances are always fun, but adding a sexy immortal into the mix just gives the smexy stuff an extra 'bite'. For the most part these shorts work - these are all familiar Nocturne authors who are used to telling their stories in a novella format which is probably why they are able to squeeze in so much story in so little space.

Stay by Michele Hauf has brief cameos by Blackthorn (soul taker) from Sin Eater's Promise, also Star and TJ from Glamorous Evil and it stars Lucian who apparently was a side character in that book. - Lucien never bites the same human twice and he never 'stays' over when having a tryst either, but somehow he finds himself breaking the rules for a practical woman with an intriguing hidden wild side - which ends up being an even wilder side when his past comes back to haunt him. - I liked this one, even though I haven't read Glamorous Evil. This is another immortal just going through the motions, who needs the love of a surprising woman to make him really live again.

Vivi and the Vampire by Kendra Leigh Castle - Vampire King Justin, who never takes vacations, somehow gets maneuvered into taking one by his also vamp sister and when he crosses paths with Vivi his immortal life will never be the same - This was my favorite of the bunch, while not exactly enemies, both vampire hunter and vampire king are certainly from factions that don't mix and it helped that the pair just plan to have a fling and aren't looking for love. I got a kick out of the heroine's comment to the vamp about choosing to spend his eternity as a celibate workaholic - and I ended up feeling like he really needed her in his life. ( I really liked it)

Island Vacation by Lisa Childs - She thinks she's won a two week vacation, but in reality the secret she's hidden for years may win her a permanent vacation of the deadly kind - I often like enemies to lovers stories - he wants to kill her and she just plain 'wants' him but the smexy stuff comes fast, and the transitions just didn't work for me (just OK).

Stay - Michele Hauf

Magen is writing a historical story set in the 1800's and travels to Paris, France looking for inspiration and a distraction from real life, preferably a handsome one with a French accent. She stumbles across Lucian in her quest to purchase a gift for a friend and she is drawn to him, inexplainably so. The more time together the deeper their connection grows but is there more to their relationship than we see at first glance?

I enjoyed the interactions between Lucian and Magen when they first get together, the gentle teasing, the longing touches. Both of them desperate for more but scared to voice their feelings. When Lucians past comes back to haunt him things really start to heat up.

Vivi and the Vampire - Kendra Leigh Castle

Justin is the King of the Vampires and a bit of a workaholic, his sister pushes him to take a well deserved vacation. Vivi is a vampire hunter who needs a break from the hunt. Fate conspires to bring them together when Justin steps in to save Vivi from a vampire attack. Calling a truce they make a date, one evening to get to know each other. Can they fight their growing attraction?

I love this one! I am a huge fan of Kendra's writing and this novella did not disappoint! I'm hoping for more books set in this world.

Island Vacation - Lisa Childs

When Patricia wins a two week all expensive paid vacation through her work she is unsure of what is goin on. For four years she has been in hiding, running from everything she used to be. Will Roarke unravel her secrets? Why is he so detemined to prove she is in fact Piper?

Island vacation was another enjoyable tale, my first from author Lisa Childs but I doubt it will be my last. I loved the suspense in this one, I was eager to get to the bottom of their secrets and I wasn't disappointed when I got there!

A great paranormal anthology which takes you to exotic places with equally exotic characters!
In Stay by Michelle Hauf we meet Magen who has travelled to Paris to do some research on the book she is writing and to possibly have an affair with a gorgeous frenchman. She gets her wish in the shape of Lucian, although she doesn't know her lover is a vampire and when she gets possessed by the ghost of his ex lover she realises her holiday is going to be a lot different to what she expected.
In Vivi and the Vampire by Kendra Leigh Castle we get to meet Justin who is a workaholic king who has a very persuasive sister who makes him take a holiday. He doesn't realise how much he will enjoy it until he meets Vivi, a hunter who kills rogue vampires. Since they are both on holiday they decide to throw the rulebook out the window and act on the blistering attraction they feel for each other. Will the other hunters allow this to happen?
In the last of the stories, Island Vaction by Lisa Childs, Patricia has won a two week vacation from her work to a mysterious island and when she gets there she is left alone with a man called Roarke who is determined to prove that she is in fact Piper, the woman who killed his cousin but everything is not as it seems in paradise island.
I enjoyed this antho espectially Kendra's story as the characters really came to life for me. Lisa's was a bit darker than the other two but a great read which made me look for other works by the author.

BOOK SYNOPSIS

A holiday with tall, dark, handsome…and immortal!

Everyone needs a break sometimes, especially during the summer. After all, what’s more relaxing, and more romantic, than a midnight stroll through Paris? Or the way the moon reflects off the ocean? And if your mesmerizing, sexy date happens to be ready to nibble your neck, who would want to say no?

Vacations are a perfect time to indulge, so why not spend a little quality time with these immortal hunks in three luscious tales of hot getaways. Treat yourself to a little bit of summer moonlight with these tales brought to you by Michele Hauf, Kendra Leigh Castle and Lisa Childs.

My Thoughts

As in all Anthologies there will be one that stands out as a favorite, in this anthology the choice is pretty much even as all three tales have their own appeal and all three authors for me are winners with none outshining the others.

#1 . We start with the first offering by author Michelle Hauf, her Vacation with a Vampire:Stay, set in the city of lovers Paris, is one that both longtime fans will find appealing as well as readers who are new to her style of storytelling.

There is nothing more elegant or sexy than a handsome Italian male who eloquently uses French as a seduction tool, at least that is what American tourist Magen Sloan thinks when she meets Lucian Bellisario. The two are like a moth to the flame, Magen is at first glance not the type of female that the ultra suave Lucian would ever be willing to spend more time with than it takes to sate his appetite for blood. However first appearances are deceptive in Magen's case, her inner seductress is more compelling than the highest paid courtesan practiced in the art of womanly wiles could ever be as Lucian soon learns firsthand.

Michele Hauf has penned a seductive little novella, one that has an unexpected twist that elevates the story to a different level than just two characters whose lives happen to overlap. A past mistake comes back to literally "haunt" Lucian, putting not only his life but Magen's in jeapordy unless he can figure out a way to make amends.

This is, as all of the works that I have had the pleasure of reading written by the author, an easy read that allows your imagination free rein and entertains with a bit of romance and drama that you will enjoy sitting down with for a short while as the novella takes very little time to finish.

#2 . In the second novella author Kendra Leigh Castle sends Vampire Hunter Vivi Malone on a vacation in a small Florida town in "Vivi and the Vampire". Vivi is one of a select group whose job it is to protect the human population from rogue Vampires. The small beach town that she chooses for her weeks vacation has a reputation as being one that is Vampire free. The first night out strolling on the beach in the moonlight though Vivi encounters two vampires who decide she is an opportune "snack" that they argue over which one gets the privilege of biting while Vivi stands to the side wondering how long it will take for them to notice that she is armed and not quite the "easy prey" they are used to.

Finally one of the vampires pays attention when Vivi produces a retractable stake and decides to flee before he is staked, the second though decides to stay and make the "little Hunter" regret her decision to resist. While Vivi is skilled it soon becomes quite clear that the vamp has her outmatched and she is only a breath away from truly becoming his unwilling meal when a new player enters the scene.

Justin is the King of the Vampire city Terra Noctem, he rules the Vampires there under his care by dealing with disputes that arise over one matter or another and in all his long life has never been on "vacation" but here he is after being badgered to take some time away by his sister Dru on the same moonlit beach as Vivi and her Vampire assailant. Justin recognizes the troublemaker as Adam and he intervenes and orders him to leave Vivi be and instead to return to Terra Noctem to be punished.

This is the start of a familiar tale of a mismatched couple, one a Vampire Hunter sworn to strike down all of the rogues who terrorize her human counterparts and the other the King of the Vampires himself who is sworn to keep his kind safe from Vivi and her fellow slayers. The internal tug of war that the two face to deny what each feels for the other is also a familiar part of the dance that accompanies these relationships, the clever twist introduced by the author as to the origin of the different types of Vampire Hunters is what makes it unique.

The tale is full of sexual heat as well as some fight scenes that will get the blood pumping for the reader as well as keep them anticipating what Vivi and Justin do next.

A nice little paranormal romance with plenty of spice that keeps pages turning until the very last moment of the story!

It has been a while since I have read anything by Ms. Castle but this short story reminded me of what a good imagination she brought to play in her work, it also reminded me that the lines between good and evil are not always a clearly drawn black and white.

#3 . The third offering by author Lisa Childs is "Island Vacation". We start the tale meeting Patricia Reynolds, an accountant whose firm has sent her on an all expense paid two week vacation on an island which is owned by Roarke Monterusso who it turns out is the mysterious client whose generosity is responsible for Patricia's vacation. The reason that Roarke provided the opportunity is quickly revealed, he feels that Patricia is in reality "Piper" who he has been searching for since the brutal slaying of his cousin Rick. Roarke thinks that "Piper" murdered his cousin and has been seeking her all the years since in an effort to exact revenge for Rick's death.

Not only is this a very intense story it is also one of revelations unearthed by both Roarke and Patricia about who she really is and what really happened the night his cousin Rick met his untimely death. There is a no "prisoners taken" attitude in this tale, it is very dark and delves deeply into what a greedy and cunning mind can do to wreak havoc on another's life by their actions.

If you enjoy being cast into a whirlwind of violent emotions, mystery, suspense and heated moments of inescapable passion than this is a paranormal romance that will entertain you from beginning to the very tumultuous end!

This book was good. There a 3 short stories in this volume. Two of them were good and the 3rd one was ok. They all had typical vacation themed places and each couple have to work for their relationships. There is action, of course and since its Vampires, lots of passion. Recommend.

Bad sex.

That's all this book reminds me of.

I can't say I didn't read this, because I did try. Yet I also can't say I did read it, because that "try" didn't last long.

Vacation with a Vampire: Stay
While this story started out alright, it didn't last. It was a real let down, actually. The premise was great, the characters believable, if even a little strange (the names of the side characters were something to frown upon), but the twist seemed to fall flat with the whole "keeping the reader enthralled" thing. I liked it up until they had to work whatever in order to exorcise the heroine of the spirit that possessed her. Up until that point, which is the ending, I thought the story was pretty darn good. When that point came, it was rather far-fetching to feel intrigue. Needless to say, I lost interest.

Then came Vivi and the Vampire
I'm sorry, but stories that make me feel it's about huge vampire mafias just don't cut it for me. I don't know, maybe it's the way the writer just dumps you into the story, but it wasn't interesting. There's all this story going on that you're dumped right into, and while the writer does educate you as you read on, it doesn't seem to keep me interested. I don't like stories that jump shitloads of information on you in the very beginning. They have to draw you in, not drag you in. Let the information come later. I can see why that was impossible, since there was a whole world it seemed the reader should already be informed about, but when looking for a novella to read, I didn't think I'd have to pick up the rest of the series to enjoy this one--even if there isn't a series. By the time I'd reached chapter two (because I skipped most of chapter one), I already didn't care for the heroine. Vampire's were out of the coffin, so-to-say. The heroine planned to have a vacation without a vampire--which you can tell by the title, obviously didn't happen. I didn't even really try to read this story after that.

Island Vacation
I have to say that this wasn't at all what I had expected. I was surprised. Now granted, it ended somewhat quick and flat, but the lead up to was pretty good. Like magnificent foreplay that carries on into amazing sex...

Which ends up falling so flat the dick falls limp and your orgasm fails you. Yeah, that bad.

But it's still worth a read.

Island Vacation started somewhat suspenseful. The writer leaves you wondering what the hell is going on, and why this poor girl is being sent to Hell, and who this guy/vampire is and why he wants to kill her. It's actually pretty neat, especially since you don't know WHY until midway through. But then, soon after, he gets to the bottom of things and everything changes. Up until this point, the story and detail is pretty good, but it seems the writer had a specific set of words she had to stick to and was nearing her limit when she reached this moment. Thus, from halfway through and to the end, the story seemed rushed--severely rushed, and that caused the story to become very unbelievable. There's nothing I hate more in a story than a vampire who's spent years plotting the death of a killer, only to have him up and change his mind at the last minute all because one piece of information was revealed about the real killer--and suddenly he's fallen in love with her. Um... there's nothing good about this twist other than a bad case of judgement, trust, and secrecy. But hey, at least the sex was great--up until this point. No solid dicks from there on out, though.

All-in-all, it's a toss in my category. Not worth keeping.

How would your Vacation with a Vampire go?

In Michele Hauf's Stay (with characters from her This Witchery series), Magen Sloan unexpectedly meets her vampire, Lucian Bellisario while on vacation in Paris. She's finally on the Parisian holiday she's dreamed of, but she has no idea who's interest she's sparked when she walks into Lucian's antique shop, L'Extraordinaire.

Lucian is caught off guard by this buttoned-up little American tourist. A bit low on blood too, after helping a friend, so he figures one bite and one memory swipe then he can get on with his evening. But, something about her draws him in. Unfortunately, something about her draws another into the mix as well.

I enjoyed this short much more than I'd expected. I liked the side characters, Lucian's magical friends, and may check out the other books in that series. (Rating: ✮✮✮½)

In Kendra Leigh Castle's Vivi and the Vampire (with characters from her Hearts of the Fallen series), Vivi Martin's a Guild vampire hunter who's looking forward to a vamp-free vacation. She's heard rumors of a vampire king, but wasn't sure whether to believe them or not. She certainly didn't expect to meet him, at the beach of all places, while on vacation.

Justin, king of the underground city of Terra Noctem, (the magically protected enclave housing members of the night races) is a bit of a work-a-holic. His sister, Dru, sends him off on the vacation he insists he doesn't need but reluctantly accepts. While there, he stumbles upon a fight between a woman and two vampires. For the first time in ages, he'd met a woman who fascinated him, provoked him. After stopping the fight he realizes he's not ready to say goodbye to the feisty hunter. Six days left on holiday, what better way to spend them than getting to know Vivi.

I love Kendra's Hearts of the Fallen series. I am so glad I stumbled on this anthology with another prequel. I really enjoyed Vivi and Justin's back story. I'm anxiously awaiting the next book in this series, although none is listed at present. (Rating: ✮✮✮✮☆)

In Lisa Childs's Island Vacation (with characters from her Secret Vampire Society series), E. Graves Financial Planning holds a lottery for an all-expenses-paid, two-week island vacation and Patricia Reynolds is the winner. Instead of excitement over her win, she's fearful that her boss has discovered the secrets she'd tried so hard to keep for the past four years. She's even more confused when she arrives on the island and a mysterious man named Roarke Monterusso begins questioning her demanding she isn't who she says she is.

Roarke knows he's right. She's the one. She has to be. He's waited four years for this moment and he'll get the truth.

This was my first story by Lisa Childs and, sadly, I didn't care for it. Maybe it was because the story was the shortest of the bunch, I'm not sure. It was almost half the length of the previous two, so there wasn't much to it - characters meet, one's scared, one's determined; they have sex; mystery's solved, everyone's happy - felt way too rushed. (Rating: ✮✮½)

Treat yourself to a little bit of summer moonlight.

Stay, by Michele Hauf, rocked! There was a certain mysterious flavor to this story, yet it was sensually passionate a wonderful read. Hauf writes a modern mystifying love story of an ancient vampire Lucian, a Parisian antiques dealer and Magen, an author on a working vacation. Ghosts? Possession? Exorcism? A new life for two people. It was a romantic read…the kind I often wish to see on Lifetime. The descriptions of Paris are vivid and full of life. I loved the characters and their triumph in the end. The narrator Ginger Cornish has the perfect soft voice adding to the mysterious tone of the story. *****

Vivi and the Vampire, by Kendra Leigh Castle. Well Vivi has spunk! She is vivacious and I think more than Justin can handle. Justin comes off at the start as a very bored royal and Vivi seems to be unable to stop bringing work home. They are able to become temporary “allies with benefits”, because the rules just don’t apply when you are on vacation. A relationship that works well for them until life slaps them in the face & betrays them both. Narrator, Chloe Malone adds that upper crust touch to both Justin and Vivi, but I have to say that her narration of Adam, made him very whinny and irritable. ****

Island Vacation, by Lisa Childs. A vacation on a private island….mmmm that sounds so good, and it does to Piper too. Roarke is also looking forward to relieving his burden, that of finding justice for the murder of his wayward cousin. A mystery surrounds Piper, and he will uncover it. During his investigations he finds himself getting closer to Piper, beyond what he has already claimed from her. Uncovering the final unexpected minutes of his cousin undead life at the hands of Piper, he unravels the cause of Pipers nightmares and bizarre ailment. Now he can declare his passion, affection…no, his love for her. Will she accept everything he has for her, including himself? Chelsea Hatfield does a wonderful job with her narration of the story. Her voice is young and fresh, breathing life into Piper and Roarke. ****

Our Review by LITERAL ADDICTION’s Pack Alpha – Michelle L. Olson:
This was a great anthology. Michele’s story was worthy of an immediate double read for me. I was glued to the pages of Kendra’s tale and will more than likely read that one again as well, and Lisa’s closer had an interesting spin that rounded things out nicely for the book. All in all, it was a very engaging read. 
Stay – Michele Hauf
Lucian is a Parisian vampire running an antique shop and enjoying life. After helping out a friend with a spell and donating some blood, he decides to take from the customer waiting for him outside of his shop door when he arrives back at work.
Magen is on holiday in Paris trying to kick up her heals and fantasizing about a lucid affair with a sexy Frenchman.
When the two come together there’s instant chemistry and between danger, romance and revenge, Magen is swept off of her feet by the sexy Frenchman she’s always dreamed of and Lucian finds himself wanting to do something he’s never wanted to do in his VERY long life… actually ask someone to stay.
Vivi and the Vampire - Kendra Leigh Castle
Justin, the workaholic king of the vampires is forced into taking a vacation by his sister. Immediately upon arriving he’s forced right back into work by bringing one of his vamps in line and stopping an attack.
Vivi is a Hunter attempting to enjoy some time away without vampires. That doesn’t last long though, and she’s immediately forced into a confrontation with not 1, but 2 vamps and then saved by a 3rd.
2 unlikely allies, they decide to work together and because they’re both on vacation and rules shouldn’t apply, decide they might as well get to know each other a little bit better as well. Their ‘vacation’ proves interesting however, and there is danger lurking around every corner. Torn between the undeniable feelings for one another and their learned natures that are hard to ignore, theirs is a relationship full of excitement.
Island Vacation - Lisa Childs
Piper won a vacation through her work lottery and since she had never been on vacation she figured why not. It worried her a bit though, as she’s been sort of in hiding for the last several years and she was afraid of blowing her cover and being thrown back into her waking nightmare.
Roarke is a vampire bent on revenge. When he thinks he’s found the person who deserves his wrath he plans a scheme to get her in his clutches.
The relationship between these two was explosive. A case of mistaken identity (or is it?), a tragic history that was put to rest (or was it?) and two people who are forced to confront the darkest parts of themselves and each other while uncovering some long buried secrets and diabolical plots.

Vacation with a Vampire is an anthology of three short romance stories featuring vampires. Like all anthologies, my preferences differed with each story.

Stay by Michele Hauf
In this one, Magen is a freelance writer on a working vacation in Paris. She's also looking to spice up her life a little. She goes to an antique shope run by Lucian looking for a gift for her friend. What she finds is a whole lot more. Lucian is an Italian vampire living in Paris and he’s quickly attracted to Magen. He's never been a "relationship" guy, preferring one night stands to long term, but he finds himself not leaving. Unfortunately, fate has other things in store for them.

This was a good story, but there was just too much shoehorned into the story. I think it would have been better written as a stand alone novel than a short. Also, the frequent French phrasing was distracting. Yes, they are in Paris and it fits with the story and the setting and the characters, but it was off-putting for me as I don't read French. Still, a decent enough - and very hot - story. Keep your fan handy for this one. :)

Vivi and the Vampire by Kendra Leigh Castle
This story centers around Justin, the king of Terra Noctem, an underground Vampire city. His sister forces him to go on vacation where he meets Vivi, a Hunter being a fought over by two idiot vampires. Of course Vivi and Justin hit if off, but there are forces on both sides who don't want to see this happen. Supposedly, this is part of a larger story (Renegade Angel) and if so, it was good enough to make me want to look for the book. It was a nice, lighthearted read with romance and action that had me rooting for Justin and Vivi. Definitely the best of the bunch.

Island Vacation by Lisa Childs
Piper Reynolds won a contest in her office for a vacation. Unfortunately, she doesn’t want to take it. When she arrives at her destination, she quickly realizes something is wrong. Roarke Monterusso is seeking revenge for his cousin's death even though Piper swears she's not responsible.

Like the first one, this story suffers from trying to put too much into a short story. One moment Roarke is ready to kill Piper and two minutes later he wants to bed her. The story moves very fast with little time for relationship build-up. It's a good story, but I didn't connect with the characters because of the speed of the plot.
So, there you go. Three stories. All three very good vampire stories though two of them suffered from too much story for a short space. Note to the authors - these would make awesome longer books. :) So if you want a quick, hot read with vampires, pick this one up.

Stay by Michele Hauf
Favorite Lines: “He had managed to connect with her trusting innocence. Lucian swallowed his aching need.Just a few moments to enjoy her sweetness before you destroy it all.” (p. 15, e-galley)

I read five chapters of Stay before deciding it wasn’t making me happy and DNFing it. The story just felt…silly. I didn’t connect to the hero who is introduced as just having donated blood via “steel pipe shoved between his ribs.” (p. 12) The clueless heroine didn’t appeal either, but I was willing to go with it until a woman who had scorned the hero in the past made an appearance. I could go on, but I don’t want to ruin the story for those who will finish reading it.

Vivi and the Vampire by Kendra Leigh Castle
Favorite Lines: “Anyway, if he had never found a woman who suited him in all these centuries, vampire or otherwise, then it was never going to happen. And certainly not on some silly weeklong vacation to a place he was pretty sure was generally vampire-free. He wasn’t lonely, damn it.” (p. 110, e-galley)

Justin is the vampire king of his area and in need of a vacation. He lets his sister talk him into taking a break on a vampire-free island. He has no idea that vampire hunter Vivi is taking a vacation on the same island. The two weary people meet and begin spending time together before their lives are threatened by danger coming from a couple of directions. It’s a cute, short romance story that would make a nice beach read. Obviously there isn’t much depth, but I enjoyed it.

Island Vacation by Lisa Childs
Favorite Line: “The nightmare had stolen away her bravery, leaving her sleepless and afraid of the dark.” (p. 222, e-galley)

Roarke, the vampire hero, is seeking revenge on the woman who killed his cousin. His cousin loved her and in return she murdered him. Piper is exhausted and not looking forward to taking the vacation she earned at work. It’s a surprise vacation that her boss semi-pressured her into taking and headed for an undisclosed location. She has no idea that her worst nightmares are actually a reality her mind is trying to forget. Island Vacation is a short story with an semi-unexpected ending. Looking back, I see the foreshadowing, but I assumed something else had happened. I didn’t hate the story, but it lacked that light “summer” vibe that I got from the first two stories despite having a beach vacation setting. It wasn’t bad, just had a different vibe.

My Thoughts

These 3 stories were about three lost soul vampires finding love when they least expect it.My favorite story out of the bunch were Vivi's and Justin story who would have thought a vampire hunter and the Lord of all vampires hooking up.The three stories were and enjoyable read but none of them over exciting it was a quick read to pass the time.It was nice to see after centuries that these 3 vampire found there mates when they were not looking. Each were lonely and bruting and another set with revenge on his mind but ,they all found love in unusual places and all on vacation which made me laugh. A Vampire on vacation lol nice touch and different.I have read Michele Hauf's books and loved her the other authors in this story I have not read any of there works so this was a treat to try someone new.I think there will be a lot of people who will enjoy this book its not the usual run of the mill stories and I was not the type that had tons of killing and violence just 3 stories that take you along for the ride watching them fall in love. Well done and a fun read !

STAY by: Michele Hauf
For a Nocturne Book I have to say that ( Stay ) was a wonderful Paranormal Romance that opens up your heart to a possible romance with a Vampire. Take a trip to Paris to find out if they really have Vampires, Ghosts, Soul Seekers, Witches, Werewolf's and the Devil himself maybe. So next vacation take a trip to Paris were the Country of Lost Lovers Awaits You.

Vivi And The Vampire by: Kendra Leigh Castle
When a Race of Human Hunters wants to anole late another Race Vampires because of pure hatred there is only one way to solve the problem take a vacation of sorts. When Vivi goes on a well deserved vacation she wasn't thinking of her job but to just relax and enjoy her self but, she never expected to find a Handsome Vampire on the same beach and said Vampire save her from to other vampires she got a shock to find out that vampire was the King of Vampires. And so for the next week they both left behind work to enjoy some well deserved Hot Sex and falling in love with each other only to have this magic moment to end when several Hunters came with Vivi who was at the end of the point of a sword just to kill this King that didn't harm any mortal and to see his love die at the hands of her coworker 's swords. But just as it was getting really bad a bad as Fallen Angel along with another Hunter steps in to help stem the tide of faith and in the end THE KING GOT HIS QUEEN.

Island Vacation by: Lisa Child's
Hate, Vengence, Justice is all that Roarke Monterusso wanted for the death of his cousin Rick Monterusso from the person who turned Roarkes life up side down Piper ( aka Patricia ) Reynolds. What he got was a whole lot of love from said person until she came clean and told the truth about the death of his cousin. But Roarke couldn't bring himself to kill her only to love her with all his heart and soul but, first he had to tell her the truth about herself that his cousin actually turned her into a Vampire too. His and Her love will be tested for all time in the ways of the Vampires.

I received a copy of Vacation With A Vampire from Netgalley for review.

I enjoyed & was totally engrossed in all three short stories in this book. Each story had what I adore reading about....vampires, romance, intriguing storylines.

The first, Stay by Michele Hauf is set in Paris, France where vampire Lucian Bellisario meets an American lady, Magen Sloan, outside his antique shop. They both strike up a closeness after acknowledging they are attracted to each other & Magen came to Paris to have an affair anyway so things get pretty hot really quickly! Everything is fine until a dead ex from Lucian's past comes back to literally haunt them!

The next, Vivi and the Vampire by Kendra Leigh Castle has ancient vampire king Justin being forced to go on holiday by his sister Dru. He eventually gives in to her & goes off alone. He meets vampire hunter Vivi when he saves her from being killed by bad vampire Adam. He is instantly attracted to her and vice versa. They start up a holiday romance whilst having to avoid Vivi's two fellow vampire hunters which inevitably leads to an action packed ending to the story!

The last story in this book is Island Vacation by Lisa Childs. Piper Reynolds is a workaholic who wins a holiday in the office lottery. She arrives on a private island by private plane & she just knows something is amiss. Waiting for her on the porch of the house is vampire Roarke Monterusso who wants revenge for the death of his cousin Rick who was killed by Piper. She had suppressed all these memories & slowly they start to come back to her & eventually she discovers that she is not who she thought she was & that her & Roarke develop feelings for each other.

I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars & would highly recommend it to lovers of Paranormal romance.

Even vampires need a vacation every now and then don’t they? This book has three tales of vampires getting away from the everyday (or is that every night) routine.

Stay by Michele Hauf - Italian vampire Lucian Bellisario is now a Parisian. He lives and works in Paris. Magen Sloan is an American author on a working vacation. They meet and bond in Lucians’ antique shop. Ah Paris by night.

Vivi and the Vampire by Kendra Leigh Castle – This was my favorite of the three stories. Justin, hunky vampire and King of Terra Noctem, hasn’t had a vacation in like ever and hasn’t had a date in a couple of centuries. His sister badgers him into taking a short vacation at of all things a beach resort. Vampire hunter Vivi is on vacation too. They meet when she is fighting off the advances of two rather insistent vampires. Can opposites attract?

Island Vacation by Lisa Childs – Piper Reynolds is in hiding. She isn’t sure from what. Her only clues are in her nightmares which feature a lot of blood. Roarke Monterusso holds Piper responsible for his cousins final death. When he finds her he lures her to his island with a free vacation. Will he kill her or keep her? This story was too short to do it full justice.

Three stories that prove that no matter how long you live all work and no play makes you dull.

I loved the short story about Vivi and Justin so much I went on the hunt for the other books in the series and so far I think the story is really great and I'm not generally a fan of books with angels, even if that statement comes with exceptions.
This is a fun story, my only advice is to get the sequence of books, it makes a lot more sense reading them in order even if they say you don't have to.

The first two stories in this anthology were entertaining & fun. The last was too far fetched for me to enjoy. She sleeps with & develops feelings for a man who wants to kill her, strong enough that they are engaged within 2-3 days of meeting? Please, give me a break. So completely unbelievable. The other two stories were fun romps through the night.

I got this just to read the Castle story because it ties into the first book of another series of hers. It was good altho I spotted some differences to this world from her world with her new publisher which does make sense. It was good to get an idea of some of the individuals who will pay crucial roles in that other series.

All the three stories would have been better as a stand alone novel because there were too many things stuffed together, as often happens with short stories, that I usually do not read for this reason.

I liked this read! Passed the time in the car on the drive home! My favorite of the three stories was "Vivi and the Vampire" by Kendra Leigh Castle. Also, bonus chops for the hunk on the cover. *drool*

I have to say that overall this was a good read. I really enjoyed the 2nd and 3rd stories in the book. Really couldn't get into the 1st story and struggled to get through it. If it weren't for the 1st story I would have given this book 5 stars.

In Hauf’s paranormal romance novel, she is joined by authors Kendra Leigh Castle and Lisa Childs as they each share a vacation with a vampire.
