I was skeptical about reading this to my son, I didn't want him to get any bright ideas! But while there are, in my opinion 2 or 3 too many reasons (fears mostly) why the kid doesn't want to go to school, the mom is always able to reassure him that he has nothing to fear. And in the end he goes! The illustrations are funny/cute and I'd be interested in reading more by this author.
This was a very good book. The first day of school is difficult for most. From preschool to college, expectations are high just like anxiety. This book kind of levels the stress. Very Good.
The illustrations are cute but the message here is horrible. Anxiety is a real issue for kinds today and for the parent to say it's silly does not promote healthy emotional kids. It sends the wrong message and I do not recommend this book.
A little boy shares his thoughts and fears about going to the first day of school. His mother tries to ease his dark thoughts the best she can.
The art is cute and the story is a good idea for kids entering their first day of school.
The questions that the mother tries to ease by saying that most of his fears won’t happen would have not worked for me because a lot of his worries actually happened to me as a kid. I was not a fan of elementary school as you can guess. The flow of the book was a little awkward and although the art is cute it doesn’t work sometimes.
Elementary school was hard for me and I don’t know if this is the book for any kid who has had these troubles. It is probably best for the first day of kindergarten.
Addison liked this as a bedtime story because she says it's everyday at school for her...awkward. That being Said as a parent you hear I don't wanna go to school off and on throughout your child's school years. Now she. She says it, I can read her this and removing her it's not that bad.
While this is good for some scenarios this isn’t quite what I was looking for. I wanted something that addressed a child stating they hate school. My once fun loving kindergartener hates school and it’s a fight every morning. She wants to go back to preschool desperately.
My 7 year old daughter loves this book (I think mainly because at times she doesn't want to go to (home)school). She actually read this book twice. She said that she really like how the little boy has an active imagination when it comes down to giving reasons why he doesn't want to go to school. Overall, she said she rates this book 100,000,000 stars!
I have to say not a bedtime book first mistake it had my girls rolling with so much laughter, and I have to say me too lol 😂. I loved it and so did our twins but definitely don’t read it at night or they won’t go to sleep they will want to stay up and laugh more and more
I am not sure if this book was proofread. I won't be reading it again. Mom seems to not validate child's feelings and tells him that it is silly. Also something is alright you don't write it "all right."
This book has many teaching moments. It talks about the fears that go through a child's head before they go to school and reassures them that everything is going to be just fine. I would read this to my class.
It was a cute funny book. I had my 9yo read it to me for practice. It's definitely for younger kids but he still thought it was funny and loved the pictures, he also appreciated the subject and enjoyed the ending. All in all a nice book
I love the way the book is written. Great conversation piece for scared children, or reluctant children. My daughter loved this book and was giving reasons to go to school.
The book and the way it’s written on lined paper the animation my son loved this book and so did I . It was different and my son who is autistic love it so much and laughed and said he wants more books like this amazing !
fun times to be had, I think we have all been in these similar shoes when we were young ... but think of all you will learn, friends you will meet, good times ... lots of new moments in life. so many amazing memories. always think positive. u will enjoy it.
I love that this book addresses so many different excuse kids use to try to stay home from school. It gives reasonable responses that are logical and practical. If your kid doesn't want to go to school this is a cute little book to try. My kids love it!
