Bell, Book & Candle | Try Me On for Size Review

"Are talking about this Oliver?" A male customer in line asked. "Cause, honey, with a body like that, you're either a lesbian or a big fat liar".

This stand alone novel is super cute! I had an inkling that this book was going to be good, so I am glad that it delivered what it promised. The story was goofy and funny, and has a romantic angle I have yet to read about or see in the movies. I wonder if anyone has made personal female "toys" like this...

The characters were relatable, as well as likable. I especially adored Mia's best friend Bryn; she was hilarious and so down-to-earth. I'm a little envious, as I wish I had a BFF like Bryn; she was supportive of Mia, but put her in her place when the situation called for it. I liked Mia and her humor, but when it came to relationships and what she expects out of them and her romantic partner, she was a tad too unrealistic with expecting perfection. Why should she expect a 100% perfect man when she's only an 80% perfect woman? If a man is that perfect, he will look for an equally perfect woman- which she is not. Besides, perfection is overrated, and no such thing exists when dealing with people- at least in my opinion.

However, Oliver should have never lied in the first place; although I'm not sure if he and Mia would have ever happened otherwise. His almost fiance and "baby mama", Alexiana, was such a witch (replace the "w" with a "b"). The combination of her fake pregnancy, blackmailing and public humiliation of Oliver was too much to bear. Speaking of which, I never understood why in books the son/daughter choose to stay with their partner, who makes them unhappy, in order to please their parents or keep them happy. I totally get that Oliver just didn't want to worry and disappoint his mother, but if she really loved him, she would be happy as long as he is happy. I am so glad that happened to be the case.

"I'm famished," Mia said snagging a snack and a kiss from Oliver.

"Lucky bitch," the guy at the front of the line mumbled. Mia turned and met his sly grin.

"You know it!"

This novel reminded me that family can be overrated. A lot of people these days say "family this and family that", but I believe that loyalty makes you family; blood makes you related. Mia and Oliver were seriously facing their own versions of this within their own family. I was glad to see that Mia had a backbone early on, and not cave to the pressure her family was putting on her; I was absolutely floored by that! Mia's sister was incredibly selfish; so much that I was flabbergasted the blatancy of it.

"An hour earlier, she may have been stupid enough to think she could still be apart of this family, but she certainly has smartened up. She'd taken all she could and wouldn't be making the same mistake again."

Thankfully everyone received their karma and pretty much everything was resolved. I teared up near the end, so expect to too- even if you're the Tin Man! The sexual scenes were steamy and a-plenty; definitely drool-worthy. I still think Mia and Bryn's business venture was ingenious- why didn't I think of that? Anyways, this was a really cute book with some great humor. I liked it a lot.

I'm DNFing this book on p. 100 of 246. Oliver has a fiancee who he hates but will not break up with, and he continues to have sex with Mia, who doesn't know about the fiancee. To make matters worse, Oliver thinks his fiancee is lying, shallow and manipulative, yet he's ok having unprotected sex with Mia? I hate him. Mia deserves better, and I can't bring myself to read any more.

Edited to add these details:

I don’t DNF (Did Not Finish) a book very often at all. It was especially disappointing that it happened now. This book had a lot going for it. For starters, the premise certainly caught my attention: Mia’s lingerie shop needs a big sales boost to save it from going under. She and her partner decide on the idea of picking a spokespenis/spokesmodel and making dildos cast from his penis to sell in their store. And what better way to pick the spokespenis than to try out five different models and choose your favorite?

The first glitch she runs into is one she doesn’t even recognize. While she’s waiting for applicant number one, Oliver approaches her. When he realizes she’s been stood up, he decides to go with the flow and pretend to be whoever she’s waiting for.

The book (at least as far as I read) had some enjoyable humor in it, but things went downhill fast. Here’ are some notes I made while reading, Goodreads updates, and texts to Kate: (book text in italics, my comments in regular font)

Page 3: spokespenis Funny!

Page 12: And so far it hasn’t been all that orgasmic Then you’re doing it wrong!

Page 13: spokespenis Funny!

Page 14: “Only a real live vagina can get the data we need to do this right.” Ok, I’m starting to like this – vaginas and data!

Page 15: waiting in a bar for Penis Number One to arrive Funny!

Page 21: “Mia opened the door and led him up to the third floor. No turning back once she took him inside. To her bed. To test out his penis.” Funny!

Page 23: “Okay, so, I’ll need you to just kinda lay there and let me do what I need to, um…do. Okay?”
“Sure, but shouldn’t I get a condom?”
“Wasn’t this already explained to you? I need to see how you feel without any barriers. We did the screening and we’re both healthy and disease-free, so it’s all good.”
Um. No. Not all good. Lying at this point is pretty unforgivable, unless he just happens to have a test at home… (this is never mentioned again!)

Page 27: “Are you seriously telling me you had sex with this gorgeous man and didn’t have an orgasm?”
“I thought the point was to test it out and see how it felt. Make sure it was the right size and girth and whatever. I thought I was supposed to retain some sort of professionalism.”
“Seriously? We’re going into the dildo business.”
Funny!

Page 40: “Oliver would not be celebrating this marriage. He’d smile and do all the things a groom is supposed to do, but being happy about it? Nope.” What?!? He’s engaged? WTF?

Goodreads update: Ugh. The "hero" is engaged to someone else, and we find this out after he has sex with the heroine. No. This makes me angry!"

Page 51: The thought of her with someone else made him feel as if his intestines were being yanked out through his chest.
An engaged guy shouldn’t be jealous that a woman he just met was having sex with another man. But he sure as hell was.
OK, I’m reading on, but I really need her (Mia) to be thoroughly pissed that he cheated on his fiancée with her!

Page 51: And in the high society they’d grown up in, an easy way to secure one [a proposal] was an unplanned pregnancy. Nobody dared announce a bundle was on the way without a ring on that finger. Ew.

Page 51: He might be working for this company… Really? He thinks he might go through with being the spokespenis? Well, I guess that might be scandal enough to break his engagement?

Page 52: Was Mia in danger of losing her shop, her job? He couldn’t let that happen. Seriously? Why would he care?

Page 53: …he suspected the pregnancy might not even be real. Excuse me, there are ways of checking on that. And if she was so awful, why have sex with her. Ugh.

Page 55: And maybe, if he annoyed her enough, she’d leave him. Problem solved. Not really solved if she’s pregnant!

Page 70: Having him in any capacity would most likely end badly and she couldn’t risk putting the shop… How would it risk the shop to have a relationship with him if he wasn’t an employee? This is nonsense.

Page 80: “Hey. When’s your next prenatal appointment?”
“I don’t know. Why?”
“I want to go with you.”
He thought he saw a brief moment of panic in her reflection. She turned to him. “Why?”
“Isn’t that something dads-to-be do?”
“Maybe, but that’s not how I’m doing it. I don’t want anyone there with me. It’s a doctor’s appointment. It’s private.”

There’s a red flag, and he just lets it go!

Page 90: “Have dinner with me tomorrow night. I’ll take you on a real date.” Really? What about your pregnant fiancée?

Page 92:”…Eww. I can’t be married to some low-class Chippendales wanna-be.”… “I don’t care.” If he didn’t really care he should break things off. He’s an ass.

Page 93: Why couldn’t he just tell her he didn’t want to marry her?
He knew why. The miniscule chance in the back of his head that maybe she was telling the truth about the baby. … He had to find out for sure, before this went too much further.
This is stupid. Marrying her would bring a lot more drama than having a baby out of wedlock. And he’s cheating! Scummy!

Page 103:… he was a jackass for keeping it hidden. Holy hell if she ever found out. Uh, yeah, he’s a total jackass.

Goodreads update: Alright. I'm going to dnf this one. I'm on p. 100 of ~260 and Oliver still hasn't told Mia about his fiancee. And instead of manning up and breaking up with his fiancee, he just tries to be so awful that she'll dump him. His fiancee is written as a one dimensional bad guy. She's probably lying about a pregnancy, she's shallow, lazy, and manipulative. And he has no problem having unprotected sex with Mia. Ugh.

Email to Kate: I really hated this book.

So, that’s all I’ve got. I’d say stay away from this book, unless you can work with cheating. Disappointing.

I found this book by accident, I read the synopsis and had to have it. After finishing it, I was so glad the book fairy guided me to it as I absolutely LOVED it. Any book that has the term “Spokes-penis” in the first chapter has to be a winner right?

I loved the whole concept, partners in a lingerie business trying to find new ways to bring in business decide to venture into the toy market. They arrange “interviews” for potential models and Mia, one of the partners, needs to test the merchandise before they choose the final model.

The hilarity that ensues with the interview phase had me laughing till the words blurred but it didn’t stop there. I fully admit to laughing through the whole book.

This book hooked me from the first page and didn’t let go till the end. It had many surprises, turns I wasn’t expecting and a moment towards the end that had me tearing up for a different reason but was beautiful in its simplicity.

This book was totally not what I expected, I won’t reveal too much as you really need to read it. Also as the book deals with adult toy manufacture and sales, I don’t know how much I can get past the censors for an online review.

I am going back for a re-read, I need to double check if I would want an Oliver or Logan. Oh who am I kidding, Oliver all the way, but it’s an excuse to re-read one of my favourite books for 2014. One I am off to recommend to others who want a good laugh

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley.

In a last ditch effort to save the lingerie store she owns with her best friend, Mia goes out on dates with carefully screened models to size them up for the job of “spokespenis” and the inspiration for a new line of custom sex toys. It’s a hard job. But somebody’s got to do it, and Mia goes there. She totally goes there. Multiple times. *giggle*

There are twists and turns and some evil family dynamics, always fun, and by the time I finished the book I had a serious craving for new lingerie and sex toys. I bet you will, too! (I’m totally team Oliver.) If you grab this fun read, you’ll enjoy the ride with Mia and her truly mold-worthy swain. I blame Stephanie for my burgeoning desire for one of those life-like you-know-whats. I can’t stop thinking about it…if you want some laughs, zany humor, and out-of-the-box (get it?!) sexy times, this one's for you.

If a book doesn't get good by 1/4 of the way in, it never will. The premise has potential, but the author just wasn't up to the task. I never dreamed that a book about sex and dildos could be boring.

Oh Man! I really liked this book! It was light and fun. I wanted to be friends with Mia and Bryn.

Bryn and Mia own Classy and Sassy, a lingerie store. Bryn is Classy and Bryn, her best friend and a widow, is Sassy. They love their shop and working together, but the shop is in trouble. Not only that, but Bryn has taken a mortgage on her house to put money into the shop. If they don’t come up with a way to boost sales soon, they are going to have to close and Bryn may lose her house. In order to boost sales, they decide to branch out into the self-pleasure market. In order to stand out from their competitors, they decide they need something different. They need to find the perfect “model” for their toy and the only way to do that is to test drive one. They even plan to bring the model into the store for a meet n greet….like a spokespenis.  After losing her husband, Bryn isn’t ready for that, so that leaves Mia. They contact a modeling agency and come up with a list of top 5 candidates. The plan is for Mia to meet these 5 guys and interview them, but also to take them home and check out the goods…intimately.

Mia ends up hitting it off with Ryan, the first model. The problem is that the man she is “interviewing” isn’t Ryan at all. Oliver approached Mia after watching her wait for ½ hour assuming that she was stood up by a blind date. When he realizes this is an interview and she thinks he’s a model, he goes along with it. When he figures out what is going on, though, he is determined to be the model for them and that means continuing to pretend to be Ryan. This model job works for Oliver for a few reasons. He wants to be with Mia and pursues her, but he’s also hiding his real life. Oliver comes from a wealthy society family and he was raised to believe that certain things are done in certain circumstances. There are people in Oliver’s life that take advantage of him and he’s struggling to get himself out of these situations that make him unhappy.

Mia’s also struggling with unhappiness. Her family has never supported her decision to own the shop. They have been pushing her to take a position in her father’s company. How far with they go to force her into that?

And what happens when Oliver’s real life comes crashing into his life as Ryan? How will Mia react to finding out his lies?
I’m not normally this cryptic, but I don’t want to give the story away either. Oliver and Mia were so likable! That is rare for me to see. You get both perspectives and I couldn’t help but feel for both of them. This wasn’t a suspenseful book for me, but there were mysterious elements. It felt like there was always some action going on and never for the sake of action. It had a lot going on, but there was a good flow to it.

With that being said, do I think the basis behind this story (the spokespenis) is realistic? No, probably not. It did make for an intriguing storyline though. Definitely different than the norm and quite funny. There wasn’t mention of this being a series, but I would love to see one.

TRY ME ON FOR SIZE BY Stephanie Haefner was not your typical romance. When you look at it piece by piece, you would never expect it to work…but it did! At first you’re saying to yourself, “Seriously? Would something like this really happen?” My answer was, “Probably not, but wouldn’t it be fun if it did? Wouldn’t you love to know these quirky characters?” This book captivates you. You have to keep reading it to find out what is going to happen next. I liked it a lot! It made me smile. It also made me want to slap some of the characters on the back of the head (like Gibbs does on NCIS).

Bryn and Mia are partners in the Classy ‘n’ Sassy Lingerie Shop. They are best friends. They ALWAYS have each other’s back. Their business is in trouble. They need to do something drastic to save it…so they do. They are going to introduce a line of sex toys and personal massagers that are the exact replica of their chosen spokesperson…or is that “spokespenis’? Bryn and Mia are both strong women. They take the bull by the horns, and risk everything to save their business. They both have their reasons. Mia decides to “take one for the team” and interviews the potential models for their new product line. The only way to do this is to actually try them out.

Oliver Christensen is a well-to-do businessman that is dissatisfied with his life at the moment. While at the local bar, he spots Mia and is instantly attracted to her. He approaches her to buy her a drink, and she mistakes him for her first interview. He has no clue what is going on, but he’ll play along if it gets him a chance to get to know her a little better. WOW! He REALLY got to know her…and he wants to know more. Mia felt the sparks, too…but she’s in denial – and NOT in the market for a boyfriend. She tries to convince herself that it was only business.

TRY ME ON FOR SIZE is a unique story. It is a totally delightful read. I love Stephanie Haefner’s humor and writing style. I will be looking for her books in the future. There are moments of angst, twists and drama. It keeps you engaged. You want to know what happens next. You are cheering Mia and Oscar on to a happy ending. Though a light romantic and humor filled read, there were moments of family drama and reality that remind you that these are real characters with real life issues. The only thing that kept this book from being a five-star read for me was Oliver’s personal ““situation.” I liked Oliver overall and hated to be mad at him. Can they overcome their issues? Will their venture save the shop? Read it to find out. You won’t be disappointed.

Try Me On For Size

Stephanie Haefner

This story was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review by the author.

I was in the mood for a light humorous read and so I thought I would give it a go. I needed something to distract me and make me laugh. I made a good choice. This story is full of fresh story lines and get me captivated from the first page. The characters were likable and well thought out.

Classy ‘n’ Sassy Lingerie is the name of her business and it is experiencing a distinct slump in sales. A very bad, we might be loosing our shirts slump. There is a need to do something drastic to bring in customers. They decide to launch a new line of special order female toys, but they need a male model to base it on. Here comes the humorous part, Mia Montanari is going to personally audition the men to see if they meet the appropriate criteria. This includes size and shape. Eeks, this promises to be entertaining. After a mix-up at the bar while waiting for subject number 1, she inadvertently goes home with a stranger and has the best sex ever. The only problem with secrets is that they tend to come out and soon Mia finds out that her candidate number one is really an imposter. It, however is too late and he becomes one of her male models.

The secrets that Oliver has been hiding from Mia are unfortunately not quite all revealed yet and they tend to include a fiancé. Oh oh, this does not look good, especially because Mia is having amorous feelings towards him. There is also the matter of Mia’s family, she has a father that is harassing her to work for him and a pregnant sister that is trying to guilt her into the same end result.

Mia just wants to live her life the way that she wants. She is pouring herself heart and soul into this new product line and opening her heart up to Oliver. This has the potential to be a very tricky situation as the supposed fiancée is not happy about Oliver’s new job.

The author does a great job with this story line. The amount of secondary characters is large but I never lost my place, it was easy to keep up with who was who and they all had integral parts in the story. Her family was horrible, I loved them, the fiancée with her pretend pregnancy was evil, I loved her too, the business partner Brynn added a dose of friendship to the story and the other chosen model Ryan was just likeable from the get go.

This was not just a simple story of trying to save a business with an insanely funny promotional idea, it had a lot of depth and an amazing amount of twists and turns. When I thought the story was heading in one direction the author surprised me and turned the story another way.

I would rate this story a 5/5 and would definitely be interested in reading more by this author.

Review: Try Me On For Size by Stephanie Haefner Classy & Sassy! Both the name of our lingerie shop, and the very much kickin’ Classy & Sassy ladies who run it. Well, Mia is the Classy, and Bryn is the Sassy, but you get the point!

The problem, however, is that the lingerie shop that Mia and Bryn have poured their hearts and souls into isn’t doing so well. And to save it, they have to move “outside the bras and panties” – in a rather big way. And “big” being the operative terminology, when they decide to start a new “personal massager” line – with the model being the ‘spokes penis’ – making personal appearances as well as the model for the perfectly molded product.

Of course, finding the perfect model requires a “test drive” – and of the five potential models Mia and Bryn choose, as Bryn is still recovering from the death of her soldier husband, Classy Mia draws the short straw – taking on the test drives of the potential spokes penises. What happens next is at times hysterical, certainly awkward, and, oh, did I mention funny? Especially when Mia hits it off right away with the first model – who isn’t actually the model she thought he was at all!

There is a lot to love in the humour of the book, but there is some really harsh reality as well. The terror of the small business owner on the edge of losing her business and snobbish and vicious family who will go to any lengths to ascertain that family who doesn’t fall into the family line doesn’t succeed.

While this is a light, romantic book it also shows a rather brilliant bit of social and familial reality which I found gave it a depth not often found in these sorts of ‘light romances.’ If this sounds good to you, don’t hesitate to buy the book.

I received this book from the publisher in return for a realistic review. All thoughts are my own.

'Try Me On for Size' scores highly on the originality scale; Bryn and Mia, struggling lingerie shop owners, desperate to stay afloat, decide to diversify into the sex toys market. To attract quality clientele they need a bespoke product. Decision made. They need the 'real' thing and that's when the fun starts.

Mia and Bryn, friends since school, always look out for each other. Single Mia is guilt tripped by her friend to test out the models. Serendipity plays a major role in Mia and Oliver's meeting. The resultant heat, generated when they connect, is more personal than professional. Mia's expectations of love are unrealistic and Oliver is not what he seems, which makes their romantic journey full of potholes.

The fast paced, story takes lots of unpredictable turns and makes entertaining reading. Alongside the humorous, naughty scenes are poignant interludes and contrary to the title, romance. The setting for the story is atmospheric and enhances the story's authenticity. The characters are easy to visualise and either like or hate, depending on their motivation.

I enjoyed reading this unique, adult story.

Fun, Fun and More Fun! Stephanie Haefner has taken an idea for expanding a business, gone on a sharp left turn, and created a story that will have you laughing, sighing and squirming multiple times!

If you haven’t googled (or heard of ) Pamela Des Barres, go ahead and do it now. I’ll wait. Now, welcome back – see Mia takes a page from her, and mold their new idea on one of her predilections. But – that’s jumping forward. Mia owns Classy ‘n’ Sassy Lingerie, and sales are flagging. Everything else seems done to death, so they decide to ‘interview’ models for a new line of ‘personalized adult toys’ for the women who shop there.

But, you can’t just make a casting call for a group of men to drop trou if the idea is to use their form for a dildo…so Mia puts herself and her heart on the line to ‘test drive’ the models through a series of blind dates.

Oliver is intrigued – more by Mia than her idea, he becomes Blind Date # 1, although he had never applied for the position. He’s in the midst of his own personal hell with a nasty girlfriend that he hasn’t yet removed from his life….

The characters in this are adorable: real and flawed, they relate well and sound real to the reader. Mia’s best friend Bryn is wonderfully supportive, but won’t let Mia step out of line: exactly the right tenor for a friend. Oliver and his withholding of the girlfriend wasn’t great of him, but her own horrid behavior keep readers cheering he and Mia on to a happy ending.

Laughter, heart and heat: everything combines in this fun and funny story!

*I was given an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.*

The author had me at “spokespenis.”

In a bold and creative move to save their struggling lingerie shop, best friends Mia and Bryn decide to take “customer service” to the next level by introducing a line of custom sex toys AND meet-and-greets with the man whose, erm… manhood they modeled the toy after.

But first the merchandise needs product testing. What’s a responsible businesswoman to do?

Enter the spokespenis.

Single girl Mia finds herself saddled with the task of trying these carefully screened potentials out “for size” and more. Needless to say, Oliver, the guy she assumes is Model #1, turns out to be the perfect specimen.

Key word: assumes.

I devoured this book. It was a sassy “guilty pleasure” read, but cleverly crafted in a way that kept it classy, given the premise. Just when you think: “this is such a crazy idea,” Mia echoes your thoughts exactly. She was down-to-earth yet humorous. I found her to be a wonderful protagonist, and couldn’t help but root for her, the Classy ‘n’ Sassy boutique, and the cast of characters who band together to save the shop. A few of the foes hell-bent on wanting the shop – and Mia & Oliver – to fail were a bit too villainous for me to take seriously at times. But they provided enough twists to keep the plot moving and me guessing in a few “whodunit” situations.

I’d been waiting for a new novel from Haefner for a while, after enjoying her Karma books. And she didn’t disappoint! “Try Me On For Size” is a unique and delightful read!

I loved this book! This story starts off with a BANG! Literally! It hooked me right from the start.

Mia is part owner of a lingerie shop that is having financial trouble. They decide they need something original to boost sales. Mia and her partner Bryn decide to offer custom-made "pleasuring devices"for their customers. The only problem, they need the perfect-sized model. Mia decides to take one for the team and try out the 5 different models (what a hardship!) to see who is the perfect size for the job.

Enter model number one....during Mia's first interview, she is approached by Oliver. Olivier thinks Mia is waiting for her blind date to show up and decides to pretend to be him. Leading a boring and unfulfilled life, Oliver decides to live a little and see where this goes. He is in for quite a surprise when his blind date goes far beyond anything he was prepared for.

After secrets were revealed and lies were uncovered, Mia and Oliver have to get through many obstacles to find their HEA.

This was a funny, light read that turned surprisingly bittersweet towards the end. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a laugh and see a long-overdue couple find their HEA.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. To read more reviews like this one, check out Obsessive Book Nerd!

This book was one of those “chuckle out loud” books. It was a very quick read and had a lot of entertaining moments. The writing was strong and the characters were well developed. I was able to connect with most of the characters, but some just seemed “blah”. The story stuck to an overall plot and didn’t get off track.

While the story was funny, it didn’t seem completely believable. I really have a hard time believing that someone would willingly “test” out the goods for a spokespenis, when the character herself was so uncomfortable with the situation. Its really was a strange plot point. But, since it is just a romance novel, I guess they don’t always have to be believable.

I know summer had pretty much come to an end, but this would be best read by the beach or for someone looking for a read that won’t take too much thought. It’s a quick read, so maybe pick it up when you head out on vacation next.

Thank you Netgalley in exchange for honest review.
Honestly, From reading the description, I began this book with the thoughts of: "another erotic story with a different approach" and "really?"
Try Me on For Size took me by surprise. This book is a sweet romantic read with many funny one liners, remarks, and awkward situations. The author, S. Haefner, drew me in with her humor and the way she tied her characters backgrounds together with the main characters.
Mia and her high school BFF, Byrne, have a lingerie shop together. Sales are down and they need a new concept to save their business. They plan to broaden the shop with personal meet and greet appearances by the chosen model for their new line of goodies. Mia has five models to personally interview to be the perfect "model". Of course, it wouldn't be a good book without twists and drama.
Haefner brings her characters to life by adding a jealous and snobby sister to the scene. Parents who worry more about reputation than happiness. A fiancé who is all about appearance and blinded by her high society fantasy world. An employee who is not ready for the new line of products and quits his job. . .
Sweet, romantic,funny.

DNF. Didn't even make it through the the first chapter.

Spoilers!!

I was squicked about by the protagonists friends pressuring her into having sex with people as part of a job interview. Not only was it totally unnecessary, it was also just mean to pressure her into a situation that she felt so uncomfortable in.

Then she meets the male lead and I slammed on the break. He decided that he's been a good boy for too long so he decided to LIE to the protagonist to get her into bed. I assume the author doesn't know this, but that is a form of sexual assault called rape by deception. She was going to have sex with a specific person, and this guy preyed on that and had sex with her by means of lies and deception. That is so fucking skeevy. It's not prosecutable in every jurisdiction, but it's reprehensible anywhere.

I then read some reviews to see whether or not there was anything redeemable about this book and found out that not only is this dude engaged, his fiancé is "pregnant" and he's a spineless weasel. Couple that with the fact that he's kind of a rapist? Fuck no.

If you're looking for a very sexy summer read reminiscent of everything that made the HBO Series Sex and the City a big hit, this is a must read for you.

When Mia and her business partner find themselves in desperate need of a big seller to save their struggling lingerie business, they decide on creating a very unorthodox product. A case of mistaken identity has Mia hooking up with the wrong guy who in the end, turns out to be Mr. Right.

Before Mia and Oliver can reach their happily-ever-after, they must confront controlling parents, a whiny sister and a manipulative fiance. Once they find the strength to confront their respective obstacles, they learn not everything is as it seems and sometimes the most direct route to resolving conflict is head-on.

I enjoyed Haefner's writing style and humor which is most evident when her characters zing one-liners.

Try Me On for Size is a steamy read perfect with a cool refreshment while sitting poolside.

Mia and Bryn own a lingerie store and they aren't making enough money to survive, so they decided to start selling adult toys. They decide to interview models for authenticity and Mia is volunteered to choose the right model. A case of mistaken identity leads to Oliver becoming one of the models and Logan is the other.

This book is a hot mess.

Oliver is attracted to Mia, but he already has a "pregnant" fiancee, whom he doesn't tell Mia about. Mia's family is horrible to her all because she doesn't want to join the family business. Throw in a toy release party, a friendly wager between the models, an internet scandal, an Applebee's employee, an ill mother, and stir it all up!

I had a hard time believing the romance between Mia and Oliver (it was based on insta-love and lies). I hated the way Mia's family treated her, but they made up in the end like nothing had ever happened...too far-fetched.

The storyline was fascinating and had several twists that I never saw coming.

This was a fun, cute read. I love the whole idea of needing a spokespenis to amp up sales and interest in the lingerie shop. The "interviewing" process was brilliant and had me laughing the whole time.
While I enjoyed the characters and the story I was never drawn into it. I think I would have enjoyed it a little more if I got to see the characters interact more outside of the store and outside of the realm of the whole promotion.
This probably won't be a book I'll be coming back to read again, but I would definitely read more from this author and don't regret reading the story in the first place.
This is a good read for those times you need a break from angsty, emotional reads and just want something fun to read.

I was torn on my rating here. I wanted to say that I more than liked it - closer to an 'It was amazing' 5 than 'really liked it' 4. So many times as I read this book, I laughed hysterically and had to keep myself from being loud enough to wake my kids (I read it on vacation, while camping in a tent). There were hijinks and humor, sweet moments and sad ones. The premise is hilarious all by itself, but Stephanie did an excellent job with the execution. From what I can see, this is her first book, and with that in mind, I decided to round up from 4.5 rather than rounding down, because it was so much fun to read. And hot! Oh, there are some very sexy moments. *fans self* Any story that can make me laugh, cry and want more is worth a read in my opinion. I'd definitely recommend it, especially to anyone who loves Jill Shalvis or Kristan Higgins, with all the I Love Lucy moments.

‘Oliver’s entire life had been about responsibilities and commitment. Maybe it was time to stop being so damn respectable.’

Try Me On For Size is a fun and super sexy romance that had me giggling like a schoolgirl with Mia and Bryn’s completely open and honest conversations about how to spice up their lingerie shop.

There is no denying that this story will not be for everyone. The dialogue is extremely naughty and comical. Plus, just the idea of Mia having to, um, “test” out the models to find the right guy (or spokespenis) for their new adult product line was pretty racy.

While Try Me On for Size is entertaining, I found myself rolling my eyes a lot. There are a lot o plot points in this book that take me right out of a good story. I stuck with this book because Stephanie Haefner's writing was funny and quick, the characters were fun but something just never really connected for me to get lost in the story. I would definitely try this author again, since I am thinking it was my own personal hangups that made this story just ok, instead of great.

I really liked the heroine in this story, and the hero was hot and sweet. I thought the premise was unique and the one-liners very funny, but without exception I found every secondary character to be a cardboard cutout. I would have given this story 4 stars if not for the horrible people in the hero and heroine's lives and their inept way of dealing with them. I will read more from this author though, since I really like her voice!
