PLEASE NOTE: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an HONEST review.

My litmus test for a book is if I care if they are part of a series. About 60% into "Reburn" I felt the urge to run to my computer & check Amazon for other titles by Anne Marsh. After I finished the book, I have to admit that I did check into it and apparently there is another forest firefighter series with prior publication dates. However, I don't feel that not having read the prior series I missed out on any information - so please don't let that stop you!

This is a NOVELLA length read; is good for a lunch hour or to relax before bedtime. There is heat... and HEAT ... unresolved / reunited love... and a bad guy. I liked how the reader was allowed into the mind of the bad guy for a few minutes; the "cat & mouse" aspect could have really been played up if Anne Marsh had wanted to "beef up" this novella into a full-length novel. Beyond the basic storyline, the secondary storyline of the actual forest fire and the brave crews who fight them was very poetic and amazingly written. In a way, however, I would have preferred more story and less environment.

Overall, great story and a SUPER beach read!

****ARC received through Netgalley***

I'm glad it was a free read because it was boring sometimes, and confusing too. There were so much explanations about the forest fire, the flames, the sky, the wind and all that. I didn't really care about that.

The romance part didn't felt natural. I didn't feel like Olivia and Sam had a past, ten years ago. And the FBI case with a stalker around trying to kill them ? It didn't kept me interested. At some point, there was Holm's point of view but it felt out of place.

I was struggling to finish it because I just wanted it to be done and over with. This book didn't work for me but it doesn't mean you won't like it.

I was a little surprised at how short the story was considering it's the first in a series. Yea I noticed after I finished reading it was only 66 pages. I have a bad habit not reading synopsis when it comes to authors I enjoy or books that are highly recommended by goodread and bloggers that enjoy the experience of escaping into a good book and one's imagination.

Hotshots is a great spin off for readers like me who enjoyed the 'Smoke Jumpers Series'. I definitely plan to continue reading Marsh's new series. My olny hope is the stories grow in length and some of our favorite smoke jumpers make a cameo.

BOOK SYNOPSIS

Not every man knows how to put out a fire. Fewer know when to keep it burning. . .

He Battles The Flames. . .

Nobody messes with Sam Clayton--or his territory. The big bruising ranger is the last line of defense in forest infernos and he'll go up against anyone who gets in the way of putting them out. Even the FBI tracking a terrorist through the heart of a blaze. But when Sam discovers the agent is ex-lover Olivia Albert, saving himself will be more dangerous than any fire he's faced before. . .

She Lives For The Heat. . .

Olivia needs Sam's help to survive the heat, but when it comes to keeping her quarry from detonating a major strike, this Bureau agent is calling the shots. Except when Sam's hard body and expert hands are reigniting a second chance that could be hot enough to burn forever. .

My Thoughts

U.S. Forest Service firefighter Sam Clayton is not just some average alpha male hero he is a man whose dedication to protecting the Sequoia National Forest is matched by his singleminded devotion to the only woman to ever capture his heart Olivia Albert, and the ex-lover who walked away 10 years prior, when Olivia turns out to be the FBI agent in charge of a team tracking a terrorist in the middle of a raging inferno Sam and his team are fighting Sam knows that he has to find her at all costs before either the terrorist or the fire do so.

Like all of author Anne Marsh's work read to date this one starts off with intensity and it never slows down the pace. Set in the midst of a massive forest fire one feels the heat, smells the smoke and ash and right along with Sam the tension that builds as he and Olivia find themselves caught in the heart of the fire with only a few options that may or may not see them live through the night.

The rush of adrenaline that comes when Sam must battle the crazed suspect that followed he and Olivia to the rocky gorge that gave them shelter from the forest fire is almost as big of a rush as the one you get when Sam and Olivia's mutual lust blazes across the pages! The confrontation is short and turns deadly for the terrorist when he flees into the flames of the fire, it is almost a let down that one feels that the manhunt ended so abruptly but the fact that neither Sam nor Olivia perished in the same fire but instead made it out was compensation for the end of the suspense.

Like all good romance stories there is conflict in this case the fact that Sam lives and breathes best in the territory he returned to once he did a short stint as a Marine, also fighting fires just on soil other than the US, and the fact that Olivia left to become part of the FBI with the intention of it being her full time career. These two have lost 10 years and when they realize that those years in between never dimmed either the blaze that one touch can ignite or the love that has only matured with time the obstacles they face become something to work around rather than something to keep them apart.

Thoroughly enjoyed the novella, although it felt much too short as it went by too fast, the characters were given just enough of a fleshing out to connect with them and their back story was revealed just enough to make their rekindled romance believable as well as keeping it from feeling too rushed. So even though it would have been nice to have read a full length book as the beginning in the spin-off from the author's Smoke Jumpers series, which showcases the importance of our real life firefighters as well as gives us a glimpse into the authors characters dedication to their chosen profession, it truly read well in the short span of time that it covered. I could not put the Kindle down!

Anne Marsh's firefighters are among my favorite characters and the women who win their make believe hearts are beyond lucky!

I like stories about firefighters and when I saw this title up for review on Netgalley I couldn't resist requesting it. I've meant to read one of Anne Marsh's stories before, but except for the free first short story in this Hotshots series this was my first acquaintance with her writing. The first thing that I noticed is her precise and detailed descriptions of everything involving fires. I don't know a thing about fires beyond the basics but the technical details Marsh provides come across as real. She must either speak from experience or have done thorough research. It gives her story an authentic feeling.

Reburn is a novella about reunited lovers. Sam is a park ranger and firefighter in Sequoia National Park and Livy is a FBI agent hunting a terrorist who's hiding in Sam's park. They meet again after a ten-year long separation when there's a huge fire in the Park and Livy and her team are on the heels of the terrorist but running into the fire's unpredictable course. Sam needs to get them out of the heat before the fire closes them in. The rest of Livy's team is sent to safety but Sam and Livy need to spend the night in a gorge. They not only have to stay out of the fire's danger but also stay alert for an attack of the terrorist. Despite of the double danger they find the opportunity and time to rekindle their old sexual attraction.

The premise is an interesting one, however I think there might be a little too much going on - plot wise - for the shorter length of a novella like this. I found myself wishing for an elaboration, especially of the romantic arc, because now it felt as if things were rushed. Both the suspense and the romantic developments could've profited from a bit more time and depth and complexity.
Although I won't blame a novella for being a novella, I'm still of the opinion that the romance took a backseat in this story. The pace felt off and the turning point in Livy's feelings for Sam came very unexpected. There was no emotional build up; at one moment she tells him that she can't pick up their relationship where they left off ten years ago and that she can only give him this one night; the other moment (after only one unspectacular orgasm) she wants a future with him. Forgive me for being confused. Not seeing what made Sam fall in love with Livy either is just another omission contributing to my lack of belief in the romance.

Not helpful for enjoying this story was the frequently alternating point of view between Sam and Livy, and even the terrorist. I found this more confusing than interesting and it didn't benefit the pace either. Often I had a hard time visualizing the scenes because of the perspective changes, which were sometimes accompanied by a small jump in time. Apart from that, the POVs stayed very close to the (details of the) events as opposed to the characters' feelings about what happens between them. I found it difficult to empathize with the main characters because I hadn't enough insight in the development of their feelings and emotions this way.

Overall this novella didn't bring the romantic satisfaction I was expecting after reading the promising back blurb. The premise of this story had much more potential than it actually delivered. So, in the end I felt a bit disappointed about Sam and Livy's romance, but I'll give the next book in this series a try when it's going to be longer than novella-length. After all, it remains hard to resist hotshot firefighter heroes.

Well, the 1st book in the Hotshot Series was exactly that, HOT. Anne Marsh took the job of firefighter and kicked it up a notch to the “Hotshots” then kicked it up another notch with a scorching hot, extremely sexy hero.

Sam Clayton knows how to contain a wildfire with his crew beside him and the Smoke Jumpers in front of him. No doubts about how a fire is going to burn. No doubts about all their abilities to put it out. But, when you throw a sexy FBI Agent into the mix out on a manhunt in the middle of his fire, things could easily burn out of control.

Olivia dreaded going back to where she spent the last summer before leaving for college. She always wondered what happened to her summer fling, Sam Clayton. She fell hard and fast for him but knew that her life and career had to come first so she blocked him out of her heart and head. Now, here she is on the manhunt that will get her the promotion she’s been bucking for within the Bureau in the middle of a raging forest fire hoping to wrap it up before Holm Arthurs kills anyone else when she is pursued and rescued by the one person she really didn’t want to see again.

Forced to spend the night on the mountain together, she tells him that there is no way they are going to pick up where they left off. But, Sam can’t help to wonder what it would feel like to hold her again, love her again. Their passion grows as hot as the forest fire surrounding them until they ignite. But, Holm Arthurs has a surprise in store for both of them – will they survive the attack by Holm? Will they survive the raging inferno around them? Will they survive the aftereffects of the taste of passion that they both had.

Wow … I was really drawn into Reburn. I come from a family of firefighters so I was really able to relate to this book. I have to commend Ms. Marsh and her knowledge of firefighting, hotshots, smoke jumpers and the inner workings of how to put that fire out. She was spot on! So, with that said, I was also intrigued with her characters.

I felt like I knew both Sam and Olivia by the end of this book. She wrote them with such style and flair and articulated their feelings so well that you really knew why they were hurting and the loss when they went their separate ways again. But, there was one scene in the book that I had to go back and read 3 times – sorry, I really cannot understand how it is done on a swing. I’m still baffled trying to figure it out. But, it was hot – maybe my mind can’t compute it because I just wanted to keep reading it?

Reburn is the first book in The Hotshots series by Anne Marsh. This book had a great premise and showed lots of promise it just never quite got there for me. I'm hoping it just suffered a bit from "first book in the series" syndrome and the next books will be more.

Olivia Albert will stop at nothing to get her man. She has earned her stellar reputation as an FBI agent. She always apprehends the guy she's after. That's how she has found herself deep in the forest searching for a terrorist right in the middle of a forest fire. She would never want to put her men in danger, but she just keeps pushing knowing the "bad guy" is just around the corner. Falling down an embankment she's in deep trouble and not sure that she's pushed too far and put herself in danger.

Sam Clayton fights fire and he's damned good at what he does. That's why when he gets the word that he has an FBI agent right in the middle of the drama he can't help, but get mad. Not only is he putting himself in danger, but now Sam, too. Imagine his surprise when he not only finds out the FBI agent isn't a man as he originally thought, but it's none other than Olivia Albert; the girl he had a summer romance with and has never been able to forget. Now, he not only has to get her out of the fire safely, but deal with a terrorist hell bent on destroying them, all the while fighting the attraction that has never cooled.

She'd been his first, and now she'd be his last and best.

I really liked both characters and the story was a solid one. I just never got to the point where the couple seemed "made for each other". The words were there about the attraction, but I never felt it. That being said the book is a good read and I wouldn't be opposed to reading the next in the series.

Want to steam up your summer? Spend a sizzling night or two with a smokin hot man? Then Anne Marsh's Reburn is a must read! Reburn is the latest book in Ms Marsh's Hot Shots/Smoke Jumpers Series and believe me she delivers!!

All though Reburn is more of a Novella than a book Ms Marsh manages to make us yearn for the twenty four hours these characters have. In an exciting man against fire adventure two people reconnect after a decade apart.

Sam Clayton is a forest ranger with an army past but even then he was there to save lives, to fight fires and to make sure as many people made it out alive as possible. So it stands to reason that when a fire lands in his forest he is there to help put it out. Only trouble is there is a home grown terrorist out there and an FBI team set on tracking him down. The fire shifts and all bets are off this team must be found!!

FBI Agent Olivia Albert has been driven her entire life. This latest fugitive is the one that is going to give her that promotion.. shoot her straight to the top. She knows what she is looking for and is completely prepared to track him down. What she didn't count on was a serious forest fire.. One that has now shifted and she needs to get out now. And yet, just as she is about to give up there is a glimpse of color that doesn't belong and Olivia is on the trail again. That is until she runs right into her past.

Sam and Olivia met as teenagers and had one beautiful summer. All it should have been was a teenage romance but emotions were attached in a forever kind of way. Neither has been able to completely forget the other. So when they find themselves only in a raging fire with only each other to depend upon they are forced to acknowledge the connection. The question is what will they do with it if they survive? And survival comes first!

A great summer read for those of you who are looking to spend an afternoon or two with a book. Reburn is a fast read but no less enjoyable. Check it out!

Sam lives for his job. When a fire on his territory threatens the life of the FBI agent intent of capturing a fugitive, he will not stop until he has every one secured.

Oooops! Sam sure was not expecting to run into the woman who left him behind ten years ago. Funny how the passion that burns through him at seeing her again, burns as brighter as the fire that threatens their lives.

Okay, so maybe not funny, but it sure was fun to see him all bent out shape because of her. Not to say that she wasn't affected by him at all. Who could resist a sexy, alpha male type with a body made for worshipping and a heart of gold? Well, not me. That's for sure!

I liked this story. Anne Marsh definitely brought the heat to this pairing and kept the fast-paced action throughout the story. And therein lies the reason why my rating is what it is. I found the pace to be too fast for my liking. Just as I was settling to enjoy a good, dangerous hunt of the bad guy, it all came to a close. Like I said, I enjoyed the story, but I thought the concept deserved a bit more exploration. The burning park setting with a fugitive on the run and the danger that it provided plus the sparks that were flying between these two would have made for some awesome reading if it would have been spread out a little more.

Having said that, it did have great elements to it that kept me engaged in the story. I wouldn't have minded a bit more character development and more dialogue and emotion, but the plot was interesting and the chemistry between the Sam and Olivia jumped off the page.

All in all, a fast-paced, little sexy read about rekindling a past romance. Reburn was a fun story to read.

I received this title from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange of my honest opinion.

This story opens up with Hotshot Forest Ranger Sam Clayton leading his men fighting a fire out of control in the mountains of Big Bear Lake (Sequoia National Park) in California. When his right hand man gives him a status report saying The FBI have gone into the heart of the forest where the fire is now heading with a vengeance. Looking for one of America's most wanted and one of the crazies (a bomb expert) is hot on his trail like a blood hound. Not to mention he has taken his team in too and they are on radio silence due to their tango being out there with all the same military grade items and sometimes even better hardware then what they have. So the big wigs want his team to go in and get them out. He refuses to risk his men or this mountain or the people who live on it. So, he will go himself, he gives instructions to his right hand man and takes his truck to where they would have driven to get to this tango. Once there he orders the team to leave they are not happy for the crazy is not back yet so he tells them to leave and that he will go after him. He ask for his name and that is when he finds out that it is not a he but a she. Olivia Albert with a straight face he says okay but he really wants to scream because it’s his Livy. The Livy he fell in love with ten years ago and now he needs to find her and save her not only from this fire but from this madman that is out to kill her and whoever is in his way. I loved this story. It kept me interested all the way through. I enjoyed the chemistry between the characters. Livy was one sassy girl and Sam was so laid back and willing to let her be her. But always had her back and she did his. I know Big Bear so I could picture it all in my head too, so that made this story fun for that reason too.

Sam Clayton doesn't allow anyone to mess with his area of forest to protect. He fights fires and is good at his job. When a terrorist uses his area to hide out in Sam is more than willing to help get him. The problem he has is an old fling is working as and FBI agent and vows to bring him in. While a fire is raging all around them they have to find a safe place to stay and to try and get the mad man. The fire isn't the only thing heating up as Sam and Olivia rekindle their old love and maybe get the chance to do it right this time.

Sam works really hard at his job and is proud of the work he does. He wants to put fires out and keep the area safe. He is protective of his other hotshot fire fighters and of people in the path of the fire.. He is very sexy and can be bossy but that is his job. Olivia isn't one to back down and she wants to get this terrorist and get the recognition she deserves. She walked away years ago from Sam but still cares for him. She isn't one to be bossed around. She is very smart and good at her job as well.

This is a short story so it was a quick read. I like the plot and the author does a good job describing the scenes. I could see the fire clearly and all that was going on. Sam and Olivia are a great pair as they still have chemistry years later. They work well together and they heat up as quickly as the fire does. I would have liked to see more of them maybe more flashbacks to were they were younger but that is just me. The story moves at a great pace and nothing is left out of place. They both have decisions to make at the end and I really hoped they both would open their eyes to really see what they could have. If you enjoy a nice hot story ( in more ways than one), action and a good plot pick this one up.

This is a story about the re-kindling of a love that occurred 10 years earlier and fizzled out after Olivia - Livy - left to pursue her career and Sam stayed behind to do what he loved. Sam became a hotshot putting out forest fires while Livy became an FBI agent. They are reconnected when Livy goes on the hunt for a fugitive at Big Bear Lake where Sam is frantically trying to put out a forest fire.

Mediocre bordering on boring is the best way to describe this book. Everything about this book lacked an intensity that would have kept the reader intrigued. The bad guy was nearly non-existent and really not that hard to take down in the end. The love scenes were not until the last 10 or so pages and while interesting and good, far to late in the book. Sam was hot and well described in the book as was Livy but there was no angst, no animosity between the two for them to overcome together. To me, it was far too cordial which lent to the lack of intensity.

I don't think the author took enough advantage of the firefighter theme of this series in that the fire could have been a perfect villain but wasn't. It was more or less an after thought. Yeah, they had to run away from it but so what. There was not one single life threatening event in this book caused by the fire. I was so excited about a firefighter book and was disappointed that there wasn't more of a hot firefighter coming in and fighting the burning beast to save the girl.

I would give this book 2 and 1/2 stars. I had to force myself to finish this book and found myself actually reading 2 other books between start and finish of this book. I thank netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sam Clayton, hotshot with the U.S. Forest Service fighting a forest fire that already had 300 acres up in smoke, receives word that a few military men and one FBI agent who are in the vicinity on a case, are in the path of the fire and out of radio contact. Not willing to risk any of his men, Sam goes out to try and locate them himself.

Olivia Albert, an FBI Special Agent tracking down a domestic terrorist who has stockpiled arms in bunkers in Sequioa National Park, can see the approaching fire, but her vehicle won't start. She thinks she has time to make one last attempt to find a trace of her target, before she and her men need to walk out to avoid getting trapped.

After sending her military cohorts on their way to safety, Sam finds Olivia and they realize this is not the first time they meet in Sequoia National Park. They met for the first time ten years ago. There is no time to catch up on old times, there is an armed and dangerous terrorist running loose and a fire they can't seem to outrun. They outrun one fire........but end up rekindling another.

REBURN (The Hotshots) is suspenseful from beginning to end.....and on the occasions it is not, it is sensually passionate......either way, the book is difficult to put down. I would not have minded a bit more context to the characters, but the story covers just a very brief time frame.

A good, short, adrenaline read, with great passionate scenes that are beautifully written.

It kind of reminds me of another book I've read about these crazy firefighters who chase forest fires. These books tend to be pretty memorable. This one included. I like the dynamics between the characters, how they work together to stay safe even if they're both bull-headed and try to get the other to do things their way.

Not a whole lot scares Sam, not even the wildest, most scary fires. But enter a tiny woman and he's running around and trying to keep her safe while worrying about what she'll do next. Olivia is a tough woman, hellbent on doing things her way. Nothing is going to stop her from getting what she wants, not a wild fire, and certainly not the man she lost her heart to years ago.

A story like this wouldn't have worked with weaker characters. It's high paced, with well written characters, and it's a perfect read either for the beach, when you want to wind down with a good book, or when commuting to and from work. It's one of those books that stay with you well after you've read the final page. I'll be coming back for more with the rest of the series. If I have one beef with this book, is that it's too short!

My Review
4.5 Star Review – Reburn & Hot Zone

I recommend these books.

I enjoyed these books by Anne. These book include passion, laughs, suspense, heartache, and pain.

REBURN (Hot Shots #1)

Sam is trying to fight a fire but has to find a woman who is hunting down a terrorist. When he finds Olivia he must get them out of the forest without the fire killing them. Olivia just wants to find her man. But what happens when the hunted becomes the hunter. Will they make it out of the woods alive? Or will the hunter or the fire get them first?

HOT ZONE (Hot Shots #2)

Sarah must kiss the first man that walks into the camp. Of course who walks in but Dade the one man that she should not have. Sarah is running from her past. She is hiding in this camp and will move on soon. Hopefully before her past catches up with her. Dade is determined to protect Sarah from her past.

Dade believes Sarah is too young for him. She does not belong in this camp. She is not a good cook so he can't figure out what she is doing there. When Sarah's past catches up will Dade be around to save her? Will he even want to?

Both books contain strong alpha males and stubborn women. They battle through the book but in the end come together as better people. The men are both compassionate and sweet at times but are fiercely protective. You also learn a little about the firefighters that these men fight with. Very good read. Can't wait for the next book from Anne.

It was just okay. I thank goodness it was free and short. If I had paid for it, I may not have been as forgiving. There was just no anticipation, of either the guy, Holm Arthurs (horrible name), stalking FBI, Special Agent, Olivia Albert, whom she's been tracking, or the inevitable meeting between Olivia and her first love, Sam Clayton.

There are times I don't even know for sure who's talking. Case in point, when they are talking about the letters. I'm not sure if she got his or if she told him it was AWOL. Also, there's no real emotional consideration as to why she all of a sudden decides she's willing to make things more permanent with him. First she says this is just one moment in time, then all of a sudden, she's waiting for him and hoping he feels the same way she does.

I just bashed the previous short story/novella I'd read about not giving me enough back story or information. This one gave me too much. Yes, I know there in the forest during a raging fire. Yes, I know she's tracking a potential terrorist. But good grief, all the information about the fire and what direction it was coming from and what the sky looked like added nothing to the impending anxiety of being caught in a forest fire. Or the fact that the person she was tracking was tracking them.

This just didn't work for me.

This and other reviews can be found on my blog, My Written Romance.

OK, now I will admit there were some fantastic suspenseful moments throughout this book, Reburn as a romance just didn't work for me.

I would generally expect in my romance reads that the couple would at least appear on the same page together or having met within the first chapter or so. It was 28% into the Kindle edition when Olivia and Sam finally meet up. This is just a little too far into the story for my liking.

While I am glad they weren't just having random hookups for the sake of it in the middle of a raging forest fire, there just wasn't enough romance or romantic situations within this for it to truly be a romance novel. I didn't quite get Olivia and Sam as a couple - some of the sexual tension and chemistry seemed a little unreal and forced. Anne Marsh has built the suspense and the action really well in this story, but I just felt as if it took over the whole story rather than being a part of it.

I'm still keen to check out the rest of the series, as it shows real promise. However I really can't say that I will be revisiting Reburn.

My rating: 2 out of 5

The first in a new romance series following elite firemen, Reburn by Anne Marsh sets the scene, and presents us with a new hero to drool over. This fast-paced novella follows along with Sam, a firefighter with a unit tasked to keep forest fires under control. A terrorist is hiding out in his area, under his watch: and that just isn’t going to fly. The FBI has been tasked with finding the terrorist, and one of the agents is Sam’s old flame: Olivia. Years later, their spark is still viable and visible.

Chasing the terrorist puts them in close contact: even closer as the fire burning around them is threatening their lives, even as their own flame seeks to consume them in the past, with hopes for the future.

As a novella, the characters were decently developed, and the descriptive prose managed to bring the scenery alive. Anne Marsh has succeeded in quickly relighting the flame between the two, as we see the dangers faced and tactics used by firefighters in the course of their work. While I thought that the pacing occasionally slowed with more technical information, I enjoyed the introduction to the characters and their story, and want to see more.

I received an eArc copy from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review for Tasty Book Tours. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I'm actually rating this 3 1/2 stars. I love firefighters and was damn excited to get my hands on this book, but I have a few complaints. For starters it was just too short. I wanted a full length book and settled down to read one only to finish this one in a few hours. It didn't seem as if there was enough time to cultivate a real honest relationship between Sam and Livy. It helped that they had had a summer fling before, but it was 10 years ago and people change a lot in that time. The other problem was there wasn't enough of the bad stuff, you know, the crazy bad guy that Livy is chasing only got about 10 pages of action and the fire they're trying to outrun is nothing more then an annoyance. The have time to mess around in the middle of this raging forest fire to goodness sake. Okay, now that I think about it, if I were stuck in the middle of said fire with a totally smokin hot fireman .....yeah, I'd probably try to get a little something before I went up in smoke. I liked the story line a lot I just think it could've been much better if it had been long enough for more drama and more interaction between Sam and Livy.

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC.

I gotta say I am a sucker for firefighters; there is just something about them that’s just amazing to read their stories! Anne was able to write the fire scenes in such a way that it was almost as if you could feel the fire coming off the pages. I did also enjoy how the fire did have such a part in the book, because sometimes when you read a book about firefighters, you don’t get to read about the fires they put out.

Sam’s character was very well written, Anne wrote enough about his past in the Marines and his love of the forest that you could tell why he loved his job. However, in my opinion, when it came to Olivia’s character, there were some spots that could have been done better. She brought up the fact that Olivia is “She was a decent tracker, an excellent bomb technician, and a trained psychologist.” Anne mentioned those facts but she doesn’t really mention why she chose that profession.

This was a good read though if you like firefighters and being able to watch the fires take place. I will read more into the series to come!

Please NOTE: I received an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review of this book.

3.5 to 4 Stars
Marsh did an okay job with a short story of two people who come together under strange circumstances 10 yrs later. The story is quite short which means there is not as much development as one would expect in a longer novel. We get a glimpse into the life of Forest Firefighters as well as a tiny glimpse into FBI. But these are just tiny glimpses and the main focus is on Sam and Livvy being "reunited" during a raging fire. A bit unreal but the hot factor did come into play.

I found myself wanting more, lots more and the fire situation coupled with the killer on the loose at times became a bit incredulous for me. BUT,I did want to finish and find some sort of HEA, which the reader does get.

Very fast read, easy, not a great deal of angst. Summer beach read? Lazy rainy day read? Good choice :)

Olivia Albert was determined to find her man. Holm Arthurs was a man on the run and bent on destruction. Except this time he was in the middle of a raging forest fire. One that he admittedly started. He was determined to take her out before her team found him. But he never expected her to have help.

Sam Clayton loved his job. He could live without the fires but he knew it was Mother Nature's way. So his job was to protect as much as he could Then he learned an FBI team was scouring his forest for a deadly wanted man. Even worse their top-notch bomb tech was missing.

As the forest burns around them, Sam and Olivia rekindle their past. They haven't seen each other for years. Yet time melts away and both remember their time together so many years ago. Taking readers right into the heat, Marsh burns up the pages with a cute tale of two people destined to find one another again.

Given by Kensington Books for an honest review

I really liked this book!!It was as adventurous as romantic..

Sam and Olivia met 10 years ago and they had an incredible summer. But none of them was willing to fight for the other and admit their feelings. So,they both went their own way..Until they meet again and their own fire resurfaces even stronger..

My favourite part was when each character realised that they had "almost sex" during an enormous fire..Their lust, their desire, their love couldn't wait even for the fire to cool down..Well it's not very realistic(hope so for their lives) but I can't stop liking it either..Plus,it was very amusing, when Sam learnt that FBI special agent is his Livy..xoxo

However,I would like to know how they will figure it out with respect to their jobs..That's a tough one..Maybe we'll see at the second book, which is about Evan...Hope so..

I truthfully recommend it..It's a wonderful summer read!!

Too short for my taste.

I'm a fan of this author.. love Smoke Jumpers series but unfortunately this was just an okay book.

This would have been great if it was a little bit longer.. give more information about Sam and Olivia.. about their past relationship.. a little flashbacks here and there wouldn't hurt.

The characters are okay, surprisingly I felt the connection. Sam is possessive so that's a big plus for me. lol!

I can't really say much about Reburn other it has a great plot and well written despite the length of the story. It also introduce us to some secondary characters that for sure will get their own story.

“I want you, Olivia Albert. I love you and I’m not going. You and me, we’re a reburn..”

Overall, I didn't hate or love it! But if you're a sucker for firefighter and looking for some hot short read, this one is for you.

Reburn by Anne Marsh is a novella length, fast-paced, hot (Pun intended) tale about a specialist forest fire-fighter and his ex-lover that gets in the way of him doing his job. Nevermind that she's an FBI agent tracking a terrorist, she's getting in his way. Sparks fly (pun intended) in this steamy (pun intended) tale.

Sam Clayton may just get his second chance at his first love, Olivia Albert. Will love survive the raging inferno? Read and find out...

I'm ready to move right on to book #2, Hot Zone.

Sam Clayton is a US fire ranger. Olivia Albert is an FBI agent. Years ago, they had a summer fling until she went off to college and never looked back. But now, she is back on Sam's turf, hunting for a terrorist in the woods while a fire rages on. Together, they will hunt down the villian while trying to survive the heat from the fire and from each other.

Marsh always does a great job of immediately engaging the reader into the story. After reading her book in the Smoke Jumpers series, I was not disappointed in this spin-off installment. Although a quick read, Reburn has a healthy mix of suspense, danger, and my personal favorite, long lost love being rekindled. It's a story you won't want to put down and will tempt you to go out and find your own hot shot!

FTC: This is a first for me from this author as I shamelessly requested it from NetGalley for the cover J I didn’t get paid, don’t worry.

I loved the premise of the fire-fighter hunting for his lost love in the middle of a forest fire and was excited to pick it up. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work for me. Although I felt both characters were well developed for the length of the story, the romance was based on a previous relationship, and its subsequent sudden destruction, but it wasn’t as angsty enough for me to believe in the depth of feelings that were being described. I also got a little confused as to the suspense storyline. I think there were just too many threads trying to fit into 66 pages and I couldn’t engage with any of them fully.

This was a very fast read. A beach read.
Take a "hot" firefighter, an old "flame who is an FBI agent, a terrorist and an out of control forest fire and you have reburn.
Sam and Livy had been each other's first 10 years before. Livy left after the summer because she wanted a career. Sam after a tour in the military came back home to return as a hotshot firefighter and park ranger.
They cross paths again as Livy is chasing a terrorist into a state park that was having a major fire.
Trapped out in the fire Sam is determined to protect His Livy.
My main complaint is the terrorist was such a quick part of the story that it could have been left out and not have been missed.
I did enjoy this read though and would read another in this series.

REBURN by Anne Marsh

REVIEW BY: Reading in Pajamas/Donna
RATED: 4 Stars

REVIEW:
A well written quick-paced story where the author seamlessly introduced the backstory on Sam and Olivia. I enjoyed the Hotshot firefighter angle and the fact that Olivia was a strong successful woman who could meet him step by step. The romance was warm and heartfelt without taking away from the action. An enjoyable read.

Being a short story leaves you begging for more of these characters. Sam and Olivia are hot. Too bad you don't get to know them better. Seeing each other 10 years after their summer together, they are both stubborn but wanting the other. The one disappointment was not much in depth fire talk. The Smoke Jumper books had more details on fighting the fires. Granted the whole story takes place in the middle of a wild fire, but I would have loved to see more. I really liked that the Donovan brothers make a slight appearance. This was a good short story and if you have never read anything by this author, you should. She puts the sexy in firefighters.
