The poor hare is the laughing stock of all the rabbits after losing to the tortoise. And the tortoise is tired of all the fame and just wants to live a quiet, slow life again. So they decide to race again. No one thinks the hare can beat the tortoise...but he is determined to do so...he brings a bunch of clocks --even a cuckoo clock --to wake him up and help him win the race. The tortoise is EVEN more determined that the hare will win. There is a lot of humor in this book.

When the slow and steady tortoise beats the arrogant hare in their infamous race, you might think that is the end of the story. But what about the consequences, the hurt feelings, the shame? Bernstein's book shows us just what happened to that victorious tortoise and his foe.
The hare is miserable, he can't show is face anywhere. He's desperate for a rematch, to clear his name.
The tortoise is an instant celebrity, but he just wants his old life back. He can't stand the spotlight.
So, they get together and plan another race. To find out who wins this time, read The Tortoise and the Hare Race Again by Dan Berstein.

I'm surprised the rating on this book isn't higher. This is one of my toddler's favorite books. The clever rabbit names (Hare E. Plodder, General Rabbit E. Lee, etc.) and other fun plays on words make this book fun for adults to read, too. That is something I always love in picture books, since I am the one most likely to tire of reading them again.

Just like the title states, the tortoise and the hare have a rematch. This book is filled with references to other stories and such that only adults will understand which makes it a bit more entertaining than your average picture book. At the end, the tortoise pulls off a great trick to ensure he stays out of the spotlight this time.

The Tortoise and the Hare is a classic children's story, and in this version, the tortoise and hare are both unhappy with the results of the first Great Race. Therefore, they want to race again so that everyone will treat them normal again. However, the Hare becomes cocky and lazy again, and falls asleep twice during the race. This time, though, the Tortoise made a rabbit suit and pretended to be him as he crossed the finish line. This caused everyone to begin treating both the Tortoise and the Hare as normal again, even though the Hare never found out he actually did not win the second Great Race.

This book is about the rematch of the famous tortoise and hare. The fable that has some much learning and lessons in the original was a let down the second time around. Both miserable with the original outcome decided to race again. The race ended the same way but no one will ever know because of a little lie or twist in the story to make the hare out to be a winner. The originals are always better.

Life hasn't been the same for hare since he lost a race to the tortoise, but neither has life been the same for tortoise since he won. They decide to have a rematch known as the Great Race II. The stakes are high, and reputations are on the line. What will the outcome be? Somebody has to win, and someone has to lose.

3.5- Ha! Both the tortoise and the hare are not pleased with their lives post-race. They decide on a rematch. The race didn’t end how I expected! I wasn’t a huge fan of the illustrations, but the story is great.

This book is a funny twist on the original Tortoise and the Hare. In this book the tortoise and the hare both wanted a rematch from their last race, but for two different reasons. The hare wanted to beat the tortoise, but the tortoise just wanted to gain his old life of peace and quiet back. Eventually they agree to a rematch and off they go! The hare tries his hardest to stay aways, but somehow he falls asleep before the finish line. The tortoise on the other hand does not want to win the race again so he creates a look alike that allows it to seem like the hare won the race. I thought this book took an original story and put a spin onto it. I enjoyed the puns and goofiness of it and I now want to share it with my younger cousins. I definitely give this book a five star rating.

I really don't like this book. The illustrations are sloppy at best. The story has lots of bad mouthing in it. And the end tells children that nothing has changed--the hare did not learn from his past racing habits, yet still gets rewarded and admired because the tortoise WANTED to lose.
I wouldn't read this in storytime.

A cute and funny little book about getting what you want and not having it be exactly as you expected. The kindness of the tortoise is admirable, lots of puns, made my 2nd graders laugh even though many of the puns were a little over their heads. Only one part made me frown: when the hare is called a loser. :(

wonderful sequel to the popular tale of the tortoise who beat the hare at a race. The hare is tired of being teases and the tortoise is tired of the attention. They agree to race one more time. But, does the tortoise beat the hare again?

Slightly cute book about the after effects of the great race, and how both the tortoise who won but wishes he lost, and the rabbit who lost but wishes he won, have a second race.

Okay story about a re-match with the tortoise and the hare. Kinda neat to see what some of the repercussions each endured after the fateful race.
Illustrations are okay.

April 30, 2019This is a sequel to the book The Tortoise and the Hare. In the first book the Tortoise beats the lazy Hare in a race. In this book it explains how the Hare's life has changed since he lost the race to the Tortoise. He is made fun of all the time for losing and hates every minute of it, while the Tortoise hates all the fame he has been getting from his victory. The two animals want to race again to set the record straight but the Hare isn't sure he can beat the Tortoise. In the middle of the race the Hare ends up asleep under a tree but the Tortoise had planned for this, he had a Hare suit that he put on an engine so he could send him over the finish line. He does just this and in the end everyone's life goes back to the way they like it to be.
