Valley of Hope… The fourth in “The Amish of Lancaster” series by Sarah Price brings to light the youngest of the Lapp family and his struggles with his choice of joining the church or seeking the adventures of the English world. Throughout this series, we’ve watched the kinner of Jonas & Katie Lapp each become their own individual person. Although being the youngest has the drawbacks of feeling as though you are smothered by everyone’s opinions & demands, Samuel is no different in this book than his siblings in his decision as to which path to follow. His struggles are deep rooted and we find it began in his early childhood. Beginning also in that early childhood is the devotion from one of the Lapp’s neighbors, Mary Ruth. Mary Ruth has been a valued friend who stood up for him when no one else would. When no one else understood him. But, when tragedy strikes, will Mary Ruth’s devotion to him pull him to fully commit to the Amish life or will his desire for fast cars and adventure lure him to the English world? An intriguing read that will not disappoint you.
