WALL•E IS THE last trash-collecting and trash-condensing robot on Earth. When he encounters EVE, a probe robot sent to evaluate signs of vegetation, his lonely life suddenly changes and he falls in love. Can this robot romance survive? Find out in this Step 2 reader, based on the Disney•Pixar movie, WALL•E .
I've never seen the Disney movie, so I didn't know anything about the story. I picked it up with my 4-year-old niece in mind. She's just starting to read. Well, my 6 yr old nephew took one look at the title and got so excited that he abandoned me in search of his parents so he could tell them about the book. I hope he's not disappointed ... there isn't much to this story, and it's fairly awkward.
Today, I also realized that he is an exceptionally strong reader. He picked up volume 5 of Harry Potter, and smoothly read a paragraph without stumbling and with expression. Which is why I expect him to be disappointed with this little book.
This book was a Step into Reading (step 2). It is based on the Disney Pixar Walle. It was incredibly cute. Walle lived all alone and longed for love. His quest came to an end when a spaceship landed one day and a new shiny robot came out, Eve. Her job was to find life on the planet, when she did Eve shut down. Walle tried to bring her back to life by caring for her, but it was no use. Until the spaceship came for Eve, when it took both of them aboard, Eve noticed that Walle had taken care of her. She learned what love was from Walle. In the end they go back to Earth, where there is love and life after all.
It was a very fun and cute story that many students enjoy in my classroom. It is a great book for early readers, especially those that love science fiction and Disney. This book can appeal to many different audiences.
This is a step 2 reading book which briefly covers the movie Wall-E. It focuses on the relationship and love between Wall-E and Eve. I think it could have gone a bit further with exploring the meaning of love and spent less time on the background but then maybe some kids would have not related it to the movie as well. Fun and gentle and some good lessons.
Two little robots that doesnt' know anything other than their own world. But Wall E has learnt what love is from a movie he watches and when Eve comes to find life on the earth Wall E falls in love. When Eve closes up WallE takes care of her and shows her what love is.
As you'd expect, this book tells just the love story aspect of the movie Wall-E. There's no new information or scenes. I love this soft illustration style though.
Really, as an adult reader, this book should get 2 stars, but I can't bring myself to give just 2 stars to something Wall-E related!
