Ava Walker, the oldest of the five Walker sisters, embarks on a trip to Italy to perfect her gelato-making skills and compete in a gelato contest. Winning the prize money is crucial to fulfilling her dream of owning a Gelateria back home in Maine.
However, when she unexpectedly runs into her former high school crush, Tyler Donovan, Ava realizes that Tyler is still everything she's ever wanted, and he's single!
The only problem is that Tyler mistakes Ava for someone else, and Ava can't bring herself to correct him.
Can Ava keep up her charade and win the heart of the man she's falling in love with while also trying to win an international gelato competition?
Or will her dream trip to Italy turn into a recipe for disaster, causing her to lose not only her future but also her true love?
This sweet and charming tale will inspire you to visit Italy or at least head to your nearest gelato shop to savor your favorite flavors. Gelato Forever is the first book in the Forever series, by award-winning author, Lynn Joseph, which highlights the Walker sisters of Portland, Maine, and their journeys of love in breathtaking locations.
Lynn Joseph's adventure travel, island hopping, and lifelong wandering have a purpose. And it's not just to find the best crepes, gelato, and champagne! She swears! Lynn writes about the places she falls in love with. She's discovered in her travels that everyone is looking for a romance and a happy ending! Especially romance authors! Her USA home base is the charming Ferry Village in South Portland, Maine, and her international home base is the Caribbean Island of Tobago, where she’s known as the Mermaid Queen. Lynn believes in protagonists of color traveling and changing the world. And falling in love, of course! She almost always finds a way to work in crepes, gelato, or champagne as part of the story (to support the research!) If you're ready for some sweet romance, join Lynn on her journey of love, food, and romantic destinations (not necessarily in that order).
Okay, for 3/4 of this book I wanted to smack the main character. She made me really mad even though I understand that she is 1. Hurting and 2. Insecure in herself.
But, the end of the book pulls it together and I actually felt great compassion for her.
Gotta give it to the author. She built up the characters enough that I cared what happened. Will I read the rest of the series? Likely.
Gelato Forever (The Walker Sisters Forever #1) by Lynn Joseph is a delightful escape to Italy through the page. The author’s descriptive writing painted such a vivid picture that I could practically smell the espresso, hear the bustling piazzas, and of course—taste the gelato. Every flavor described made me wish this book came with actual samples!
The characters were lovable, relatable, and full of charm. I felt invested in their growth and relationships, and it was easy to feel connected to their story. The ending tied everything together beautifully, leaving me smiling and satisfied while still excited for what’s to come in the series.
This was an enjoyable, immersive read that felt .like a mini-vacation between the covers. If you’re looking for a story full of heart, rich settings, and a dash of sweetness, this one’s for you.
I loved this book!! Excited to read the rest of the series.
Ok, Ava is 24 years old, but so insecure it's like she's stuck as a teenager. Probably from losing her mom at 14, which is totally understandable and heartbreaking. And ugg her father should not have let her step up and b a substitute mother to her other 4 sisters. Not cool! She deserved to b a regular teen too. He's the parent! Rant over
But the book was so freaking sweet it gave me a toothache 🤪 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Easy, fun, cute story. The whole plot was based off one very fixable mistake, but then the plot would be gone. Loved that the last 1/3 had more focus on her gelato making (whole reason she went to Italy). Overall cute and I like that it was kept clean :) good luck to this indie author for future books!
I enjoyed this more than I expected. It's a sweet romance yet it's not sappy and it's not strictly for the very young. It combined romance, travel, culture and the senses to deliver believable and likeable characters and their adventures. I'm glad I picked this one up!
The cutest, sweetest, little romance story. Italian gelato in so many flavors, I wish this book came with samples to taste! I’m so glad that this story ended the way that it did.
