As the title suggests, Awesome Ukraine is more than a guide! Simply put, it is all that is awesome about Ukraine - from national dishes, to historical facts, symbols, mythology, popular culture and much more. This book has a highly stylized design and a unique layout with photos spanning the decades. In it you will find explanations as to: why our national symbols are the blue and yellow flag and the tryzub; why Ukrainians are sentimental towards the nightingale, vyshyvanka and salo; why we are proud of Pylyp Orlyk, Serge Lifar, the Klychko brothers and the AN-225 "Mriya" airplane; why Kazantyp has attracted young people for years; and why the centre of Europe is located in Zakarpattia Oblast.

This book offers bite-sized texts on interesting facts about Ukraine, with plenty of full-colored photos on good quality paper. It will make a good coffetable book and an excellent gift, for Ukrainian natives and foreigners alike.

A book with brief articles covering different spheres, such as culture, history, cuisine etc. It gives a taste of Ukraine and get you interested, makes you want to dig in topics.

My second book in the "Awesome" series and just as enlightning as "Awesome Kyiv" which was my last encounter.
What strikes me is the number of themes that originates from the Donbas region and I'm sort of curious as to if the act of war in the region has inspired this emphazis or if it is actually how it should be. Something I would like to dive further into.
I find that a lot of the topics are relevant, original and interesting, but also find that some of the topics are merely different focuses on the same, so maybe a future edition cut fold some of them and add additionals.
If you are "into Ukraine" this is definitively a must read!

a treat!
Lots of greatly put together information about culture, traditions, symbols, places and people - all in a nutshell.
The edition #6 (published in 2018) also keeps the reader updated regarding recent events.
This would make a perfect gift, if you need to share a piece of the Ukrainian vibe :)

4.5- Lots of colorful images which make it informative and interesting to read. It provided me with information about Ukrainian Culture while on holiday there.
