Kylen is now king of the fae and missing his mate. The question as to whether the fae are as committed to their mates is answered when Kylen can no longer sleep, or eat. The rest of the fae worry he isn’t a good king, and truth to tell, Kylen doesn’t want to be. He wants nothing more than to curl up with Farro, play with their son, and live happily ever after, but sometimes life doesn’t give you what you need.
Amber Kell has made a career out of daydreaming. It has been a lifelong habit she practices diligently as shown by her complete lack of focus on anything not related to her fantasy world building.
When she told her husband what she wanted to do with her life he told her to go have fun.
During those seconds she isn't writing she remembers she has children who humor her with games of 'what if' and let her drag them to foreign lands to gather inspiration. Her youngest confided in her that he wants to write because he longs for a website and an author name—two things apparently necessary to be a proper writer.
Despite her husband's insistence she doesn't drink enough to be a true literary genius she continues to spin stories of people falling happily in love and staying that way.
She is thwarted during the day by a traffic jam of cats on the stairway and a puppy who insists on walks, but she bravely perseveres..
When the current king of the dark fae realm dies the next in line, Kylen, gives up his shifter mate, Farro, and son to be the next king, but Kylen is fading fast. He can't sleep or eat and the pain from missing his mate is overwhelming.
Farro's broken heart becomes frozen after his mate leaves him. When their son Sammy demands Farro bring Kylen back Farro sees it as a way to give Kylen one last chance to return to them or to at least get closure.
The story was okay. It had a little more angst than usual for this series. Not sure I liked the ending. Part of it I really liked. The other part I didn't.
This was book 11 in the " Moon Pack" series. I loved reading this series. I like that this book was centered on Farro and Kylen's relationship. Kylen left Carro and Sammy their son with a note. Kylen is the new King of dark fae so he puts the kingdom before his family. I think it was a great addition to the moon pack serious and can not wait for the next book! Sammy is just adorable. I love his view of the world. I'm glad the fae are getting their stuff together. I loved that instead of sitting back Farro went to get his man with a little help from Sammy. I was also glad that Kylen didn't up and take the other king and marry him without thinking about it and talking to Farro. This book did have a few errors in it. I can't wait to read the next book I still want to find out more about Anthony
Fated mates are bonded together better than duct tape. Magic can stick together emotions and love can light the way. Kylen and Farro finally get a chance to discuss their responsibilities and separation issues and King Seim's proposal to unite the two Fae kingdoms under a shared relationship with details to be worked out.
Immediate problems are the troll attacks from the mountains. The light Fae warriors are worthless as the King is the strongest fighter, so others receive little training.
When a small party of shifters, scouts, Fae warriors, and both kings overcome a large group of trolls after playing with a small dragon, the threat begins to become clearer. After Seim and Kylen get separated in a large cave by magic barriers from the rest of the group, they meet a large dragon. Control of the two kingdoms is quickly united under the control of the dark Fae King when the kings battle for sovereignty, but the dragon provides a sword for Kylen that turns green. A new agreement between dragons and Fae is forged and the trolls are under control.
Kylen and Farro return to Sammy who is happy that his Papa is no longer lost. Families and peace restored.
To me this was the best of the series so far. It concentrated on one couple and we got to see them work out their differences in a way that worked for both of them. Kylen acted in with the best interest of his people when he made he decision to be king, but that decision wasn't the in the best interest of his mating as both of the guys were hurting from being apart and it was interesting to see how they resolved this. Both needs were taken into account and I was happy with the resolution.
We also have the introduction of the dragons. Hopefully they are here more now.
I'm so glad that Farro and Kylen had finally found their way back to each other. Little Sammy was so adorable. The story held my interest and the plot was fun and full of action. I thought maybe that Kylen would return to the Moon Pack, but that definitely wasn't the case. I did enjoy the heartwarming and happy ending to this story.
Ahh I've love this couple since they were first introduced, but their son is charming. I love that Kylan immediately loved him as if Sammy were his own. This was interesting and sweet and introduces a new set of paranormals who need mates.
I really didn't have high hopes after the first instalments, but somehow the last ones were all good, this one really good. This series is definitely a rollercoaster of reading experience, some instalments I just barely rated two stars, some (like this one) I rated four stars and meant it.
With the mutants disorganized, leave it to the fae to have more problems. When Sammy convinces Farro to go find a "lost" Ky, things get interesting. Good series, plot line and characters.
Re-read and review: 07/09/2020 This is a ok book that could be great with more pages and development (a theme in this series). The possibilities to this story are many. This easily could had been a book with 400/500 pages but the what is given to us is a story lacking. Only 90 pages and every conflict having solutions so... well, easily. I was hoping for more and sincerely, i don`t know why.
It took me a while to get into the story, mostly because it's been so long since I've read the first 10 and I had to remember the previous plots.
That said, the story was satisfactory enough, though a wee bit short. The ease of forgiveness was a bit too quick but when reading about shifters and fae suspension in reality must be a factor.
The love story is satisfying, though I never understand why authors don't let their characters follow the instincts they write for them. Things could have been avoided if more dialog between the two men occurred, and Kylen just heeded his instinct. But then I guess the story wouldn't have been the same.
While I'm interested in knowing how the new dynamic between Farro and Kylen works out, I'm not sure there's enough of a cliff hanger to have me searching out a book 12 if Ms. Kell were to write one.
Note: I have only read book 1 from the Moon Pack series.
What did you like? Adorable. Sammy is just adorable. I love his view of the world. I'm glad the fae are getting their stuff together. Hopefully this will make things easier for the couple and maybe the dragons might even find some mates in the pack. It's hard to do the right thing especially when it comes back and bites you. Glad that everything worked out.
What did you not like? It was a little hard to keep up with the references since I didn't read the entire series.
Would you recommend this book? If you have read the series, definitely. If you have not, I would recommend reading this series in order.
Farro and Kylen are both kind of idiots. Way too ready to throw everything away all the time.
It’s also jarring that the author does not seem to have read up on the previous volume before writing this one. It ended with Farro packing up his child to follow Kylen and, if need be, stay with him. Yet this one begins four months later with Farro pretty much having given up on his relationship and quite unwilling to even attempt to talk to Kylen. Meh.
I don’t know. This whole thing – including the ending – simply felt unsatisfactory.
I don't know about this one. I'm not feeling it, and that might be because I'm in a long distance relationship, but I also just don't like these forced situations where the heroes are split up, it happens often in paranormal series and it grates on my nerves if it's not done for any reason but splitting them up. Farro and Kylen are way to eager to burn everything they've built to the ground. It just doesn't make sense and they come off as stupid at times. It's like the author doesn't know where to take the story and is just stirring the pot to stir. Not excited for the next...
I liked this story (that is yet another continuation of the longer story arc of the Moon Pack) but I could have done with a little more of cute little Sammy. However as far as the romance and action are concerned I have no complaints whatsoever. It had everything I expected with a few additional little twists I hadn't(won't say what as I don't want to spoil it for others.)
Love these books - great novellas ~ sexy, entertaining and fun!
It appears there will eventually be A-Z and there is plenty of room for it to go even beyond that. It is very entertaining with interesting characters and unique twists in each story. They do need to be read in order - each group of MC's have their own story but there is an overlaying back story that grows throughout each book.
