Kiss Me at Midnight is a short but very HOT novella that packs a punch and brings on the steam. I am a huge fan of Diane Alberts/Jen McLaughlin and have enjoyed everything I've read by her so far. Kiss Me at Midnight is a holiday novella centering around New Years Eve. Ashley Hanes finds herself back in her hometown, now a doctor, and planning to practice there so she can take care of her ailing mother. It's been 9 years since she graduated from high school, and 9 years since she has seen Ethan Price, her former best friend and secret crush, who has had nothing to do with her since her senior year, even though she has never understood why. Despite that, she has never been able to get him out of her mind and that is part of the reason she finds herself at the local bar on New Years Eve. Yes, she's looking to get laid, but she's also secretly hoping Ethan will show up since she heard he is in town for the holidays. Ethan Price hates coming home. After graduation he left without regret, no looking back, anxious to get away from the town and the people he couldn't stand. Now 9 years later, he is a far cry from the dorky nerd he used to be. In fact, he's one of the hottest guys in the room, turning heads whenever he walks in, ripped from head to toe, with a killer smile and confidence to boot. He can't help but think of Ashely when he comes back home. He knows he was a jerk to her, but he's still pissed about what happened that night. Nevertheless, he is at the bar looking for a hookup, because that is what he does. No commitments......ever.
As fate would have it these two ex-best friends run into each other and find that neither is the person they used to be. The chemistry is through the roof and the attraction undeniable. After experiencing the best sex either of them has ever had, they both can't help but want more. Ethan is all Alpha male and Ashley is far from the shy sweet girl she was in high school. Neither is looking for more than one night, but when feelings are reawakened and on a much deeper level, these star crossed lovers have to reevaluate their feelings, their plans, and what they want in life. Whether Ethan runs again or faces his past and possible future, remains to be seen.
Kiss Me at Midnight is a super hot little story that gripped my attention from beginning to end. The story itself is great, the romance was wonderful, and the steam factor is HOT. If you are looking for a quick read than definitely brings it, then Kiss Me at Midnight is one you should definitely check out.
