Naughty Nookie #1 Part 3/4

All That Glitters... : Simone Part 3

Rate this book
With Mona gradually realizing that life is a fickle mistress, she knows she has choices to make. Choices that will change her future forever. And regardless of the chaotic tangle of her affair with Zane, she still wants and needs him to be a part of her present.

But with news of their affair having hit the gossip columns, Mona knows there’s little to no chance of that happening. Where once the future was bright, now it’s bleak until the remarkable occurs. A stranger who’s not so strange turns up at her door and offers her an alternative path.

To Mona, being a kept woman was as unorthodox as could be, but what Zane’s husband, Jake Harris, suggests makes less sense than Martians taking over NYC. In fact, he might as well propose that she turn green.

But for Zane, is she willing to do the unthinkable?

Is she willing to take on sex god no. 2 to retain no. 1?

Excerpt

Some might think Zane’s a jerk. After all, he has or had the best of both worlds for a short time, at any rate. Jake, me – he got his rocks off at both ends. But inside, Zane’s head is in a muddle and I don’t know what he has to do to clarify what he needs to do to unravel it all.

“It’ll all be okay, won’t it, Zane?” I ask, feeling uncertain and insecure, where moments ago I’d been feeling the complete opposite. It’s a stupid question, but one that pops out of my mouth regardless.

“Of course, honey,” he murmurs, his voice as molten as the endearment he just uttered. It isn’t a trite, throw-away of course , either. He means it. And even though nothing in our conversation warrants it, and even though I don’t know where it came from, it gives me the strength to

“Are you going to say goodbye to me soon?”

His silence makes me choke up, but it’s soon cut through with a sigh. “No. I can’t.”

“Why can’t you?”

I wish I could see his face. Look into his eyes, study his features and make an analysis. But I’m just relying on the subtle nuances in his tone, and the picture I’m painting isn’t complete. In fact, it paints more questions than it answers...

This is the third installment in the Naughty Nookie series. I've really enjoyed the first two installments, for the writing, the story, and the interesting moral and sexual questions the series raises. Here's a short recap.

Mona is a house cleaner. She used to be in a loveless marriage, but she's on her own now in New York City. She has two friends, but she's not close to them. They all go out to a bar one night where she meets Zane. They have some mind-blowing sex and she goes home thinking about him. But then she finds out that he's married. Not only that, but he's married to a man. Hurt and mortified, Mona tries to forget about Zane, but he's having none of it. After constant phone calls, she agrees to see him again. He tells her that he's not gay or bisexual, but he does very much love his husband, Jake. (See interesting moral and sexual question number one.) He offers her an arrangement. She'll basically be his kept woman in New York, while Jake remains home in [INSERT WHERE THEY LIVE]. She initially refuses, but then her crappy apartment catches fire and she doesn't have anywhere else to live. So she tentatively accepts Zane's offer for at least a little bit. She realizes that she has feelings for him.

There's more hot and steamy sex that gets so hot and steamy that they totally forget to use a condom. This means that Mona has to go to a gynecologist's office (and Zane of course, being a gentleman aside from cheating on his husband...see interesting moral and sexual question number two...goes with her. Oh, and did I forget to mention? He's a famous author. Mona and Zane are photographed at the doctor's office, holding hands, and all hell breaks loose. Jake leaves, Zane tries to find him, and Mona is treated like the "other woman" by all of New York.

But then, out of the blue, after two weeks have passed, Jake shows up at Mona's door and poses an even more interesting question for her than Zane's. Will she go with him (to parts unknown) to save the marriage of the man she just might love? Interesting moral and sexual question number three.

This is where we find ourselves in the first few pages of All that Glitters. Mona goes with Jake to parts unknown (okay, they're known, he takes her Paris) and intrigue ensues. I loved that part of the story and in fact, I wish there had been a few more details about that bit of danger and mystery.

But there's one thing missing from All that Glitters. Mona and Jake are gone for weeks. Jake has been missing from the home he and Zane share for longer than that. Yet there's very little contact between the lovers. Jake, by all accounts, has totally hidden from Zane. No contact at all. If my husband went missing, even if I HAD just done something horribly hurtful to him, I'd call the police if I couldn't find him for two weeks. And if my kept woman disappeared from the apartment I paid for, I think I'd know. Despite being in a different city, I think I'd know. I'd certainly talk to her more than Zane does. Now, when you're writing a book, you can't exactly document every moment of your characters' lives. That would be boring. Mona gets up and brushes her teeth. Jake asks her if she wants to order breakfast. Mona declines, etc. Boring. But I would have loved to see more contact between Mona and Zane or a bit more explanation of why she wasn't contacting him.

That said, the way this book played out was fascinating. We're in Mona's head the whole time and the transformation she's gone through from the first book to the third is quite well executed and feels natural. She's grown in many ways and we're treated to a detailed look at all of those ways. The ending is hot and steamy and you're left aching to find out what happens next. Interesting moral and sexual question number four.

Book provided by author in exchange for honest review.

This third installment in the series provides an interesting turn of events for Mona and her unusual situation. With this book being longer that the first two, we get a lot more internal dialogue with Mona as she works her way through the feelings she has for Zane, as well as how she feels about a possible m/m/f relationship. This story arc takes a different turn in which Mona travels to France and is instrumental in bringing down an art thief, as well as a huge surprise at the end.

I've said it before but it bears repeating: this series is like nothing I've ever read and I am thoroughly enjoying it and highly recommend it.

God, I loved this third part so damn much. A lusty triangle is growing. Nice to read a story involving m/m/f where the main character isn't obsessed with the girl for a change. Okay, Zane, he likes Mona a lot, but he loves his husband Jake, and that makes this erotic read all the more exciting. The sexiness in this part is extra HOT 'pant pant' but there is a lot of emotion and strong desire. That Mona is a naughty girl, (lucky minx) Seriously can't wait for the next part....

Now I'm getting confused. But its very clear that Jake and Mona also have chemistry that you can't miss.

I like Jake because he's willing to take a risk for the lov of his life. This story is very new to me but i love it.

Go Mona!

Before I start with this review, let me be absolutely clear. Jake is a smooth bastard and I can’t get enough of him. His politeness is infuriating, his calmness is unnerving, and dominance is oozing out of his every pore. Now… where can I get myself one?

The story so far? Mona and Zane met and fucked. Really good. It would have been the ideal one night stand, if they both could ignore their gut feeling that this could be so much more. It would have also been better if Zane wasn't married. To a man. Who knows of Zane’s occasional misbehavior and is ok with it, as long as it doesn't invade their private bubble. But it’s hard to keep things on the low when your face is on page 1 of all the gossip trash magazines.

It was good while it lasted, were both mine and Mona’s first thoughts. How could she ever compete with Jake? How could she actually get between a married couple, gender be damned? Not to mention, as much as she tried to ignore it, that damned L word has a tight grip on her heart, and would break it if she broke it off with Zane. But Jake is nothing if not a pragmatist. And to save his marriage, and spare Zane the heartache, he knows just what to do with Mona.

Welcome to Paris!

As 2 opposites attract, such was the connection between Mona and Jake. She could also see why anyone would turn gay for a guy like him. She could deny it all she wanted, but the guy had her panties soaked, and the differences between him and Zane, in style, in demeanor, even in their scent, were beyond her resistance points. It takes a while, but they finally realize they are not opposites – just 2 sides of the same coin.

Finally, let me tell you, Zane may have the military medals, but it is undoubtedly Jake who has the Dom qualities. And the bits and pieces of sadistic pleasure I could feel from him were oh so pleasantly received.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. In all honesty, I was surprised I liked it as much as I did. Maybe it was the unexpected, borderline absurdity of the proposal of a man to his husband’s mistress (adorably twisted, isn't it?). Maybe it was the fact that Paris always has a way of revving up the passion, even between the most unlikely of people. Or maybe it was that I saw in writing what my heart (and other parts of me) were craving for since the end of the first page. I am now SO looking forward to the final book of the series!

As a personal revelation, I would like to say, I didn't like Mona until this book. Not only because of her internal roller-coaster of a thought process (accurate as it may have been, it was tiring at times). But mostly because she had absolutely nothing likable about her. I could not see her standing out in any way, anywhere. She has no great mind, no fancy wit, no great beauty, no fine manners, no intriguing interests, misplaced pride, a holier than though attitude… no redeeming qualities whatsoever (well, ok, she is a hard worker). Why would anyone be interested in her was beyond me, and to a point, I felt she was a good match to her nobody of an ex husband.

I had to reach the 3rd book of the series to actually warm up to her. I am sure it wouldn't have happened if it weren't for Jake holding my hand all the way through.
Can I have some more, please?

SLOW AS A SNAIL READER WINS RACE TO READ THIS BOOK!

I'll be honest and say that I'm a slow reader. Well, this book was released on Friday, saw it on Facebook on the author's status update, I bought it the same day and I've just finished it. That might seem slow to you, but that's the fastest I've ever read a book!

I gobbled down each and every word in an attempt to understand the weird triangle that's going on in Mona's life and if I'm honest, I still don't understand it. But by God, I'm jealous!

Not sure this is ever likely to happen, but I like that. It's a fantasy but still, there are things that make it real. I guess Mona does ponder over a lot; some people might not like that, but to me, it made me understand her reasoning and it made it all more acceptable somehow. It wouldn't feel right her just jumping into stuff the way she did if we didn't understand WHY and the writer does that.

I enjoyed the addition of the crime element. Nothing huge, no cliffhanger in the criminal sense, but it added to the tension and that Rousset bloke seems a bit of a d@c? !! But again, you really felt Mona's dislike of the man and he makes an impression even though he's a baddy.

All in all, I enjoyed it and I'm literally on the edge of my seat waiting for the next book. The description included at the end of the book about the next one has just made me all the more curious. I'm really looking forward to the release.

Okay, I have to start off by saying the reason this installment was my least favorite has more to do with personal preference. I hate being privy to one character's EVERY thought! I'd much rather read dialogue or narrative than page after page of rambling, insecure, irrelevant thoughts such as the ones Mona had throughout most of this book. I also didn't enjoy the cloak-and-dagger aspect that dominated a big chunk of this installment. I'm not into history or artifacts or things of that nature so I didn't find the missing bi interesting at all and I felt like what was once an erotica/romance story changed into something I wasn't motivated or in the mood to read.

Throughout this series the mysterious, complicated, ultra sexy Zane has become my favorite character. The fact that he was absent from a big part of this installment only added to my lack of enjoyment. I didn't dislike Jake but I wasn't crazy about him either. And I like Mona less and less as the story continues so having this part be mainly about the two of them made for a very frustrating read. I do have to say that each installment ends in a way that makes me curious as to what will happen next. I'm sure I will ultimately read the last part that I received but for right now I need a break from Mona.

Again, these are just my thoughts and personal preferences. To each her own, right?

I literally stayed up till 1 in the morning. Finishing this book! God can I just have Mona's life for even a day!? That's all I'm asking for. I really enjoyed how this story was completely different than from the first 2. The fact that Mona has to finally confront Jake, Zane's husband, is a huge twist, but if you think you know what's going to happen in this story.Let me tell you like the first 2, you're definitely going to be surprised. Mona's life goes from complicated to down right crazy! I'm definitely am not going to share anything that going to spoil this story for anyone. So I'll leave it at that. All I have to say is that I'm now %100 TeamJake. From the beginning I LOVED this man! He shows his love and dedication to his husband. he's controlled, dominant, and confident. It is impossible not to see why he turn out to be the only man Zane wanted to have! The first 2 parts Naughty Nookie had some incredibly HOT sex scenes, and this does not disappoint! By the time I was done reading I literally had to have a glass of water lol. Great job Serena! You never fail in bringing these characters to life.I can't wait for part 4 :)

I received this book for an honest review.

Part three finds us with Zane searching for his missing husband Jake in Maine while Mona is still in New York trying to avoid all the hate thrown at her after her picture with Zane is printed. While Zane is searching Jake shows up at the apartment where Mona is at. Talk about awkward moment. Where he makes his demands of her, if she refuses he is ready to file for legal separation from Zane. What is a girl supposed to do. Well fly off to Paris with her lovers spouse for one. Finding herself in Paris for weeks with Jake we find Mona getting sexually turned on by him.

In this book we hear more of Mona's internal deliberation's on the relationship between her and Zane and now Jake. What she feels she has to do so she doesn't lose Shane. The prospect is looking all to appealing to Mona. Her fantasies of the three of them make the pages sizzle. The characters really evolve in this book. Mona really lets go of her upbringing and starts to think and fell about what would make her happy and not what others would think.

I really enjoyed this book. It was different to the first two but a continuation, all the same, of the story of Mona's (complicated!!) life.
The sex scenes were still powerful, but I like how the author doesn't overkill them. Yes, they're quite long, but each one has its place so they retain their 'power' and you don't get bored. In fact, the series is erotica, but not over-the-top. More than anything it's a romance with explicit scenes, so if you're not a fan of erotica, don't let the label put you off.
A new character is introduced in this story and what an introduction. Jake is a really interesting character. Up until now, I think it's only natural to appreciate Zane... but after this book, well, I understand Mona's dilemma. I'm looking forward to the next part to see what she does and if she does what I think she will... And if that's the case, I can't wait even more for the next book.

I was given the opportunity to read this by Serena, and asked my opinion on it.

Well not only do I have one God in the mist, but now God number 2 comes a calling.
jake has secretly arrived unbeknown to Zane, and even though I know he is totally gay I cannot help seeing what Zane finds attractive about him, as he HOT HOT HOT and when I get to see him in a tuxedo, his touch to me is electrafying.

If this betrayal I'm feeling I can make myself live with it for as long as I need to, even living this pretense life we are living is fine by me, I just might have to up the ante a little, cause I need some action, can you turn a gay man straight, I'm not sure.

Revelations unfold that totally change the situation from 1 to 10.6 and that is for you to read about in book 3.

Another 5 star book Serena, A big pat on the back for you, your awesomeness has shone through once again

All That Glitters ( Naughty Nookie Series Book Three) By Serena Akeroyd

Each book gets better, I must say this one is my favorite, it's also the longest. There's Hotter sexual scenes in this book. Jake goes missing and Zane leaves Simone to find him. Simone meets the husband Jake, he's at the apartment that Zane rents when he's in town and the one Simone stays at after the fire ravished her apartment in the last book. To say she stunned isn't enough, she didn't know what to think. Jake has come with a proposition for Mona. He says it will save his marriage, but does Mona want to help Jake save his marriage? Simone is more interested in what Zane sees in Jake, so she accepts his proposition, even knowing Zane is looking for Jake all over New England. What will become of the trio? Is saving their marriage even what Simone has in mind. Download this book and find out.

I’ve now reached part three of the four in this series of novellas. I’m still continuing to enjoy them, and the movement of Simone’s character from everything she’s known into the unconventional is painfully realistic.

This one is different, however, from the other two. There is far less sex and more focus on developing the whole of what I believe is coming in the fourth part. There’s this angle with Jake’s work and some historical aspects to that. It made it stand out from the first two parts, almost feeling like a different style, but not in a bad way.

I still struggle with Simone a little, but not so much as to not enjoy the story and want to read how it all concludes. Another 4 Fireballs.

I know its hard to believe but book three was just as good as the last two. Mona get confronted by Jake Zane's husband and boy isn't that just awkward! Jake tells her he has to go away with him or he will divorce Zane and because Mona knows how much Zane loves him and is not trying to be a homerecker she agrees to go! The story runs from there she ends up helping Jake with his work assignment and in return saving Zane and Jake's marriage by agreeing but OMG the twist I did not think was going to happen out of all the ways I thought this was going to go I did not think that was one of them! I will not ruin it for you but OMG OMG OMG READ THIS BOOK! You will not be disappointed!

The question above the review-box here reads as follows: "What did you think?"
Right now, I think I can hear Part 4, and sadly the last installment of this series, calling to me...
The voice is getting more urgent by the minute!
Well, what can I do? I think I will succumb...in fact, I must!!!
I simply cannot withstand the attraction of Mona, Zane and now Jack, too!
And to all my fellow readers and lovers of good written erotica out there: Don't think too long about whether giving this series a try or not!!!
I did not regret one single second of this so far!
...Wowza!!!!

This series is HOT! Everything about this series is so original. I loved that the names, relationships, circumstances, and the writing was so different. I had chills the whole time I was reading, just waiting to see what was coming next! The characters grip you and take you for one hell of a ride. Serena Akeroyd is now one of my most recommended authors, and the Naughty Nookie Series is a fantastic, edge of your seat, love triangle, author, detective, cleaning lady, naughty novella! Must read for 2014!

** I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.**
This being the 3rd book in a series, it is a great read. I love how the story has progressed. It is well written. The characters are great. I really like how Mona has grown into such a great lead. I like the scenery as well. I can almost imagine being there with Simone and Jake. I look forward to reading the next installment. Great quick read.
