When Annie Reynolds, a new transfer to Hurst High School, bangs into Ryan Mullins on her way out of the girls locker room, she’s enamored with him, until he follows her into the girls locker room and writes his phone number on the palm of her hand—a trick he’s famous for.

Ryan’s gorgeous, but arrogant. He’s a baseball star who’s always in the papers and has girls falling at his feet, so when Annie rejects him, Ryan is forced to rethink his approach, and does everything in his power to sway her to see him differently.

After convincing Annie that he’s not as he seems on the surface, she lets Ryan in, and falls in love. Their relationship makes everyone, including Annie's skeptical best friend, Justin, believe that Ryan really has changed. Until proof that he hasn’t emerges.

Very disappointed. I was hoping this book was like one I read before, but it was not.

Annie is transferred to a new high school with her best friend, Julian. One day, Annie bumps into Ryan. Ryan is the guy every girl in school wants and he knows it, but Annie has heard the rumors how he loves and leaves the girls and she wants nothing to do with him. Ryan is persistent and slowly Annie starts to give in to Ryan. Ryan is the star pitcher for the boys' high school and Annie is the star pitcher for the girls' softball team. From there the story begins.

Major spoilers below. I say specifically what did not work for me. This is my opinion and the way I perceived it. You may feel 100% differently.

I can't believe I finished this book it was totally unrealistic, cheesy predictable and reminded me of The perfect game. Ryan is the golden rich cliche cocky can have every girl kind of guy. Annie is the opposite she tries for months to stay away from Ryan, but Ryan doesn't give up. Bla bla Ryan get's another girl pregnant while dating Annie. Now the evil witch mother of Ryan gives them an ultimatum.
Everything is just to much Annie is only 17 or 18 she behaves likes she's 20 plus. The plot is way over the top. The dialog is unrealistic the characters are flat except for the lovey dovy part we don't really know a lot about the characters, they love sports. The friendship that Annie has with Justin sounded good but than it turned like a bad love triangle. This book frustrated me.

I actually loved the book. Both of the main characters are not perfect they've had their fair share of mistakes in their relationship but that's the beauty of it. Never encountered such a devoted heroine as Annie. She deserves some kind of medal for being such a martyr, which I'm pretty sure not everyone can relate to, nowadays. Ryan is sweet and an unlucky one to have a mother such as Valerie. I almost didn't mind that the book is a ends a cliffhanger but I'm quite bummed that I have to wait till next year for the next one. Can't wait for the next book though.

Annie just moved schools the second semester of her senior year. She played softball and was heading to practice. On her way she ran into Ryan. He was the star baseball player who every girl wanted. Ryan had the bad boy vibe that every girl wanted. She did not like it at first, but eventually fell for it. This backfired on her when he eventually proved her wrong. Ryan really turned out to be a jerk. He ended up breaking Annie's heart in a way she could never forgive.

The entire story is based at their school and neighborhood they lived in. It is baseball and softball season during the spring. They live in the wonderful state of South Carolina.

The main characters are Annie, Justin, and Ryan. Annie is the softball player who just moved schools. She is appalled by this baseball player who thinks he is the most amazing guy in the world. This is Ryan; he can have anything he wants, and the one he wants, he can’t have. Justin is Annie’s best friend that tries to get her to stay away from Ryan because he is bad news.

The theme of this story is wanting what you can’t have. I feel this is very true. As human nature we are attracted to what we can’t have. Ryan couldn’t get Annie to give into him, which made the chase more exciting.

I absolutely recommend reading this book. It is a cute story about high school that actually happens. I would recommend high school students to read this; they won’t regret it.

A little bit cliché but still a good read.

So there's the sexy new baseball girl and the sexy arrogant baseball boy. Practically the basics of a YA book (just replace the baseball with any other sports in the case of the boy, and replace it with some cool thing in the case of the girl.), since girls always want bad boys and everything. I have to admit I have a thing for arrogant boys too, so I'm not complaining.

The boy has never been rejected, so when the girl rejects him, he gets despirate, and falls in love. Still a cliché, but I still liked the conversations and the mood with all the wrangling.

And here comes the trouble: the boy's mom is a witch, she wants the girl out of her sight. Now that is not so cliché,but still a little simple, since she is just greedy (not about money, but social status), she doesn't have any other hidden reasons. So when she has the opportunity, she doesn't hasitate to ruin the life of her son for her own sake. Now that is something interesting for me, but I didn't really like this part of the book. Not because it wasn't well written, but because it was horrible and unrealistic for me, who has a sweet and kind and loving mom. Also I've never met someone like her, so it is really hard for me to believe that there are people like her in this world.

I think this book can be entertaining but at the end the mood gets really depressing. Depressive can be good, but in my opinion if the book is depressing, it has to be very deep and meaningful in order to be enjoyable. And this is not deep enough for me, it doesn't worth the low spirits.

I liked the book but there was just too many downers for me to give it more than 3 stars. I love the story between Ryan and Annie and the way their love story turned into but then came the downers which i know every book has to have but I just think it was too many things - top of the list Justin who i did not like because he should have been straight up from the beginning and I definitely did not want him with Annie anyways; Ryan's mom Valerie - wow talk about mental and biggest bitch of all history; Katie - no need to say more with that and lastly the ending of this book which was one of the worst cliffhangers and ending. I read reviews about book 2 and sorry to say but wont be getting or reading since I know now there is no HEA between Ryan and Annie and I cant stand the fact that you feel the love between them in this book just to have it taken away in the next book.

So good! I read this book in a day. I couldn't put it down.
Jennifer David is a great author. I'm looking forward to reading her other books!
I can't wait for Breathe! It looks so good. I can't wait to see if Annie and Ryan will make it, and what will happen to justin. I didn't like Ryan at the beginning of the book but after he changed for Annie he was my favorite character! I live how realistic it is too!
Someday I want to be an author and write books that people would read in a day because they can't put it down. GREAT JOB!

I liked her fiery personality and not falling for the "hot" guy right off the bat. Kept his interest even though some things still happened that would make you question their relationship and what it really means to each of them. I like Ryan but I also like Justin. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book but I am also not sure how I want the story to go. It can go a couple of ways and I'm not sure which will be the better ending...Did not like his mom though----too controlling of Ryan's life!

The book displays the journey that is a young true love and all the conflict that comes with it.
I started the book thinking it's going to be just like the rest of the YA stories but i was wrong. This book took me on an emotional journey that made me fall in love with Annie and Ryan and cursing and wishing for the death of Valerie (i just hate that women):$.
And i'm just going to turn in my review now because i wanna know what happened next in the story.

Errors

I wanted to like this. I really did. but there were so many grammatical errors that drove me crazy, not to mention the actual story. I guessed the big "surprise" halfway through. The ending was predictable. and I have a feeling I can tell you the sequel now. at least it was free lending book.

This book is easy to relate to and really makes you want to read all day long. It is cool were the story takes place and all the details that the author puts into the story makes it a very fun read. The main character tells the story from her point of view and it is very cool how she describes her life.

This book surprised me, at first it was your typical romance novel which was fine by me but then the further in you got the more it turned into a soap opera. Not that that’s a bad thing, because we all love drama in romance novels but towards the end I was ready for the happily ever after and I didn’t get that. Yet.

This book is a steal at 99 cents! Davis does a wonderful job making you feel like you are right there. Funny enough I married my best friend after dating someone else for a long time so I can totally relate to the chemistry between Justin and Annie. I'll be looking forward to book two!

Wow. Just wow. Some one please go strangle Valerie! This story, I have no words. I loved it but I hated the ending and I hate Valerie with a burning passion. What Mother acts like this? Thank you Amazon for Kindle Unlimited, now I can read Breathe and hope Ryan chooses Annie.
