The End Street Agency introduces a world where Sam Enderson, a human Private Investigator with a brand new license, is pulled into cases for paranormal clients. This is despite his resolve to only work human cases. Vampires, werewolves, fairies, sirens, an annoying ghost and a grumbling gargoyle make Sam's life anything but normal.
The Case of the Sinful Santa by Amber Kell, RJ Scott
Book four in the End Street Detective Agency series
Zephariel, the Angel of Vengeance, Nick Klauson, nephew to Santa, Christmas magic, zombies in the school and a necromancer causing chaos…and at the centre of it all—Mal.
Zephariel is the Angel of Vengeance and is tracking down his cousin Danjal for misuse of brimstone. When he walks into a bar and finds Nick Klauson drowning his sorrows, he is instantly drawn to him. Could this be his fated mate?
When Nick and Zeph join forces to deal with zombies in Mal’s school, sparks fly. Add in a demon, a wolf and a necromancer, and Sam and Bob have a hunt on their hands.
Amber Kell About the Author: Amber is one of those quiet people they always tell you to watch out for. She lives in Seattle with her husband, two sons, two cats and one extremely stupid dog.
RJ Scott About the Author: RJ Scott has been writing since age six, when she was made to stay in at lunchtime for an infraction involving cookies. She was told to write a story and two sides of paper about a trapped princess later, a lover of writing was born.
Amber Kell has made a career out of daydreaming. It has been a lifelong habit she practices diligently as shown by her complete lack of focus on anything not related to her fantasy world building.
When she told her husband what she wanted to do with her life he told her to go have fun.
During those seconds she isn't writing she remembers she has children who humor her with games of 'what if' and let her drag them to foreign lands to gather inspiration. Her youngest confided in her that he wants to write because he longs for a website and an author name—two things apparently necessary to be a proper writer.
Despite her husband's insistence she doesn't drink enough to be a true literary genius she continues to spin stories of people falling happily in love and staying that way.
She is thwarted during the day by a traffic jam of cats on the stairway and a puppy who insists on walks, but she bravely perseveres..
I am truly liking this series. Bob the vampire, Teddy the ghost, Smudge the non-cat familiar to Sam the not-as-human-as-he-says-he-is. And this time we an angel (an AVENGING angel) and Santa's nephew Nick. I know it sounds too silly for words, but it is really very good, and perfect for the holiday season.
I agree with the other review that the secret of the necromancer seems a little bit of an anticlimax after the big, dark forbodeing buildup. But this series is more about the characters finding their way forward in life than about complex and surprising mysteries.
This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Zeph, the Angel of Vengeance, is on his way to see his cousin Danjal when he feels a pull and he comes across his mate, but claiming his mate isn't easy when he is suddenly called upon to deal with some zombies. Nick is trying to drown is sorrows as he contemplates his life, not being a full Klauson has him being looked down on by the rest of the family but he continues to do his work seeking out the dread and dark pockets and wiping out the cause. Together, Zeph and Nick, face more than just zombies and to be together one of them might just have to give up everything.
This is a great addition to the series bringing us some answers but also opening up new ones as one case closes and a discovery is made. Nick is a great character who has had his confidence knocked repeatedly by members of his own family, he has no clue why Zeph would want him but Nick has a lot to offer. Zeph's character is perfect for Nick because he sees the true worth of Nick, he doesn't see anything wrong with Nick being half human and appreciates the gifts that Nick has. They have instant chemistry and are fated to be together but they face opposition when Zeph's people interfere.
The storyline continues on smoothly from The Case Of The Dragon's Dilemma with the zombie's at Mal's school, it also brings Danjal and Hart back into the story and Smudge starts bringing in the familiar's for Sam to place. We see how Sam and Bob are doing and how Sam is still in denial, we discover the truth about the necromancer with Nick saving the day with Christmas magic and we see a new relationship being forged between Zeph and Nick that didn't start out perfectly but picks up speed quickly.
I really do enjoy this series and how it's progressing, you never know what we will face next or what interesting characters we will be introduced to or what new problems will arise. And we can't help but wonder when poor Sam will get an actual paying case that doesn't end up involving him, Bob or Mal in some way. Zeph and Nick make interesting additions to the little group of friends and they bring that extra angst as they face down those uppity Angels and they get a surprise visit.
I recommend this to those who adore the paranormal, love great characters, love perving on not one but two couples, getting pulled into interesting and different storylines and having great happy endings.
Another great story in this series.. This time we meet Santas nephew, Nick. A scrawney dark seeing boy, that sees if you are naughty or nice.... He meets the lovely Angel Zephariel in a bar, and have one nice kiss, before Zeph dissapears. But as this story is also about Sam and Bob, and their little girl Mal, they meet again, in the fight against Zombies. The, For Me Indeed, lovely Danjal, (and I STILL want to nuzzle his horns) makes an appereance, and lot of other supernatural things happen. But Zeph is an Angel that knows what he wants, and Nick is a santa that smells of candy canes....so I have to say..in the end, everything works out just right.. ♥
Boo it's mean to hint things over and over again but not specifically say!!!!
Love how all the people that meet him though are like "....wtf?! what are you" and then spend the rest of the novel showing the strange things that happen around Sam.
and Sam... "Bug off I'm human" and pouts....
all the while Bob looks affectionately at Sam with goo goo eyes and threatens anyone who looks at Sam twice... even mated couples cause "everyone wants Sam"
The last installment of this series ended with Sam and Bob finding out the magical school they had sent their daughter, Mal, to was being overrun with zombies. It seems a very powerful Necromancer has raised some ancient bodies and is hell-bent on taking over the world, one small bit at a time.
*review for volume 2, books 3&4 in series* This was another great addition to the End Street series. I enjoyed seeing Mikhail find his mate in Jin and I loved still being able to get Sam's POV. At this point, I have a bit of an attachment to Sam and Bob so it is nice that they are still a big part of these stories. In book one in this volume, we follow Mikhail and Jin and I did not expect to for one, find a dragon in this series and also be so intrigued by the dragon culture. There are some pretty cool scenes where Jin describes how they do certain things as dragons that reiterates how well these authors have built the world we are experiencing in these books.
Then we get Zeph and Nick which both have their own interesting backstories, especially Nick. There are so many connecting pieces in these books between all of the characters that make it constantly entertaining. For me, these books are sort of low key hilarious. There is the constant struggle for Sam not wanting to admit that he is more than just human. And with that, everyone around him pretty much lets him think this and discourages any questions from newcomers. We have all of the sassy comments from Sam and Bob's incessant love and protectiveness of Sam that makes Sam roll his eyes and huff at but also smile at the same time.
I like the mysteries we get in each book and how well the authors balance those storylines with us getting to know the new characters. These books are shorts and yet I do not feel like I am being cheated of details. There is insta-love but the fated mates concept makes it flow very fluidly in the story. This series is perfect if you want just a little bit of everything in your reading!

I read this as part of the two story collection End Street Vol 1 and it's great fun. Sam is human--really he is! Why do people keep asking him what he is? Sam is fairly paranormal prejudiced human, but when he opens up a detective agency in the same location as his uncle, he's inundated with them. There's great action and teamwork in this mystery including Sam the human (?), Bob his vampire soul mate, Dan a demon, Hart a werewolf, Zeph an angel, and Nick a Christmas half-elf. The running joke of paranormals suggesting that Sam wan't quite human and Sam resolutely ignoring all evidence to the contrary continues. While Sam and Bob's romance is in the forefront, this book revolves around a the necromancer who was behind the bloodshed in the last book and introduces the couple of Zeph, and angel, and Nick who is a Christmas half-elf. Together the group must work to protect the school Mal attends from zombies and other dangers. Zeph is a strong assured character but Nick is very down on himself because of snubbing and bully by the other members of the Clausson family, where he doesn't fit in. While his low self-esteem does get a little old, the unwavering love and support of Zeph is one of those great protective alpha relationships that I love. There is a good amount of humor in these stories and this one was particularly full. I'm glad that the authors reissued the stories after the originals went out of print and the box set is a great deal. I will definitely keep reading the next cases!
Zeph is the Angel of Vengeance and he's sent down to earth to figure out why his cousin was using unauthorized brimstone. Nick is related to the famous north pole family but is the odd man out. He doesn't look like the others, nor are his powers similar. These two solitary souls team up to help school overridden by zombies and fall in love. So sweet!
Of course the story of the zombies and how they got into the school in the first place. And Sam/Bob are there to ultimately solve the case.
A bit short like the others, but very fast paced, witty. A quick and very enjoyable read.
An angel and the nephew of Santa Claus meet in a bar...sounds like the opening for a joke, but when these two meet there is no joke, just sizzle. Zephariel is the Angel of Vengeance; Nick Kauson is the nephew of Santa Claus and is tasked with investigating areas that hold pockets of residual despair, so the big man can do his job. Just when the two decide to get to know each other a little better, Zeph is summoned to the scene of a zombie “problem” at the school of Sam and Bob’s adopted daughter.
At the same time that Zeph is getting information about the zombie issue, Nick gets that sinking feeling that something bad is happening, and he needs to deal with it now. Zeph and Nick find themselves together again, this time back to back fighting zombies. Welcome to the world of Sam Enderson, owner of The End Street Detective Agency and his vampire partner, Bob. Sam and Bob find themselves up to their elbows in zombies, necromancers, angels, demons, werewolves, familiars with attitude, grumpy gargoyles and Santa’s helpers.
Once again the duo of Kell and Scott skillfully take us into the world of fantasy, erotica and humor with a little bit of Christmas magic thrown in for good measure. We’ve met Sam and Bob in previous novellas and fell in love with their give and take. Each new book takes us a little deeper into their world, introducing us to new characters and giving us new insight into old familiar ones. These two authors write as one, and if the reader didn’t know better they would swear they were hearing the story from one person.
I love the play between Sam and Bob, poor Sam trying so hard to be “just human” while everyone he meets asks what are you. Bob is the perfect partner to Sam, he protects him, loves him, knows when to humor him and when to let him have the lead. Some old favorites return, Smudge the cat who is Sam’s familiar is just a hoot, talk about a cat with an attitude. The demon Danjal is back, along with his lover alpha werewolf Hart. Sam and Bob’s adopted daughter Mal, makes an appearance and a few new secondary characters are introduced. Zeph and Nick give us some great moments of humor and some really sizzling scenes of hotness between them.
I love this series of novellas. Ms. Kell and Ms. Scott are experts in giving us just the right mix of heat, humor and mystery and this book is no different than the rest in that department. I dare you to read this novella and not look at good old Saint Nick differently afterwards. The usual warning applies, there are some explicit M/M scenes but they aren’t over the top and aren’t out of place with the story. Can’t wait for the next installment; wonder if we will ever learn just what Sam is?

It appears that zombies have taken over the basement of the girl’s school where Sam Enderson, a human, and vampire Bob’s daughter Mal, also a vampire, attends. They aren’t quite sure what to do so they summon help.
Zephariel, Angel of Vengeance is in town looking for his demon cousin whose recent use of brimstone has landed Danjal in hot water. His search is interrupted when he is summoned to a local school.
At the same time Nick Klauson, one of Santa’s many nephews is investigating a rather large area of darkness he senses somewhere nearby. Nick’s gift is used to keep Santa away from bad places on the big night.
For some time Sam and Bob have been tracking and destroying evil so perhaps if Zephariel and Nick lend a hand they can take out this darkness once and for all. Well, the newcomers could possibly help, if they’d concentrate on the problem instead of mentally stripping each other every chance they get.
The boys from the End Street Detective Agency are back on the job. Infectious and enchanting The Case of the Sinful Santa fights evil, charms, and captivates. This storyline blends a suspenseful drama with witty, sometimes deadpan dialogue. Everyone in the large cast has their moment to shine, from Sam and Bob to an avenging angel and a downtrodden half elf. The Case of the Sinful Santa will keep readers glued to the plotline and laughing at the characters antics. Hopefully this series has more books to come.

The Case of the Sinful Santa is the fourth book in the End Street Detective Agency series by Amber Kell and R.J. Scott. This series must be read in order for it to make any sense. Here’s the thing. I’m a big fan of both of these authors. Always light-hearted and always entertaining. And we all know that I love a good paranormal story. This story is good, only it has some issues that were never quiet worked out in the end.
It’s no surprise that I liked Nick and Zeph. These authors have a way with likable characters. And there are a lot of characters in this story. As for Nick and Zeph, I like the inventive characterizations. I mean come on, a half-elf related to Santa Klaus and the Angel of Vengeance. Seriously, if nothing else, those two subjects are cause for intrigue and conflict. Nick is conflicted within himself – family issues battling with self-deprecation. And Zeph has to worry about angel and heavenly things and how they’ll relate to his new mating. Still all of their issues work together.
The inconsistencies are really piling up – which is strange if you have at least three people looking this thing over. Although that might be part of the issue.
In the previous book Smudge was female for the duration of a sentence, and here people suddenly never knew things they were commenting on in their thoughts before, such as Nick being half-human. And the school, where Mal kept alluding to a male student with the same talents as she has, suddenly is a girls’ school? Hm.
Time also is wonky between the books. They connect seamlessly yet suddenly Dan and Hart are not on vacation but present (although their being gone was the reason they were not asked to help) and clearly more time has passed since the previous books than just a few hours or maybe half a day.
Still, the actual story is nice as always. We had proper resolution for the secondary couple this time, although I am still not certain I like how all of that played out exactly.
Now I wish there were more books to this series. I wish to know more about the non-gargoyle!
One again I am totally loving this series. They are all lite, fun reads with sexy romance. In every story someone finds their soul mate. Most of the time is is out of their species line, which leads to some anger and hostility from members of their clans. Still you root for them to make it.
This time it's Nick Kaulson, a half elf/half human, nephew to Santa and Zephariel, the Angel of Vengeance. They fight zombies, a necromancer, and fall in love. Of course Sam and Bob are a long for the ride.
Grab your favorite beverage, commandeer the couch and have a great time. I give it a candy cane full of stars.
I can't remember the last time I read all the books in a series immediately after each other. I love this series. But why are there no more!? I NEED more! I don't think I've ever read a series that was fun and had so much going on. I mean how many other books have so many different species and don't get confusing? We get an almost human, vampires, sirens, demons, naiads, wolves, elves, dragons, angels, gargoyles, fae, trolls, ghosts, witches, and familiars. Did I miss anything? It's complete madness and I adored every word!
I really adore this series and the added bit of holiday extra was a nice bonus for this time of year. Zeph was an interesting character and I liked Nick more than I thought I would. After the last book, however, I wish there had been a little more action and finishing with the necromancer seemed too easy almost. I was genuinely surprised by who it turned out to be though. Can't wait for the next book. :)
Seriously?? I need to find out when the next book comes out, hehe I've loved every book in this series. You have to read them because there is just too much going on for me to write about. Each book comes with some kind of mystery and we learn just a little bit more about Sam and his friends. Love it!!
I liked this one more than the previous two. Are there going to be more books in this series? I want to know what the non-gargoyle is. I still think Sam is the most entertaining character in the book. I like what the author did with the whole Santa twist. I was worried when I saw the title but it wasn't a typical Holiday story. Always a plus.
Who knew the Klausons were a real thing? I loved the story about Nick and the Angel of Vengeance! Suck an imaginative story!! So full of excitement and fun. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
Still all over the place in terms of writing, but I was less able to overlook general nuttiness in this one. It seemed sloppier and more rushed (than usual anyway).
