Kazune Kawahara made her manga debut at age 18 with Kare no Ichiban Sukina Hito (His Most Favorite Person). Also, while thinking of her manga, she often spaces out and brings grocery baskets home. Adores her nieces.
What an angsty and entirely adorable romance. I’m loving this series so much, I have no idea where we’re going with it. We’ve included all of the Shojo tropes one could possibly include and there are still so many volumes to go! I’m not complaining. Both Haruna and Yoh are experiencing such heartwarming character growth, it takes me back several years to my high school life.
The art just gets better and better with the dramatic reactions and soap-opera facial expressions...I adore it so completely.
Yoh’s taken up 100 percent of my heart! There’s no vacancy! No room for anyone else!!
My heart feels the same about you too, book. Especially the faces Yoh makes during any single moment of Haruna’s vulnerabilities...AH!! MY HEART!! Why was I sleeping on this series?! It’s adorable and everything I didn’t know I needed.
It was so good! Im I’m love with the main characters dynamic with each other! They are adorable together and it’s really cute how the male character doesn’t care how pretty the main female character is! It’s honestly a really refreshing read
3.5 would be fair. It was less good than the first omnibus with 2/3 "meh" arcs. Leona was annoying in particular and the kiss arc was just silly. Granted, it's a story about 15 year olds that was written for a younger audience than me so I should be more forgiving... but kissing ex-romantic partners (in the past, before they were exes) is a silly thing to get Haruna worked up about. But it makes sense for the character that Kawahara has developed Haruna into.
I like how Yoh and Haruna work through their issues via communication, although both could learn to talk to each other about problems sooner (but then there would be no story, I guess).
Didn't love the first couple volumes in this omnibus, but the final one pulled it back up.
Volume 4 had some cute elements, with Haruna doing her best to plan a perfect Christmas date to make Yoh as happy as he's been making her. She...kind of plans terribly, but he does genuinely enjoy all of the weird little events she takes him to, because he likes her and all her oddities, even when she makes mistakes. They also have their first kiss! Lovely.
And then the plot gets super tiring and messy with Haruna freaking out and being unable to speak or look at him out of embarrassment, which drags to the end of the volume, with lots of angst as Yoh gets hurt and frustrated and doesn't want to interact with her either.
The scene where they finally made up was pretty cute, but I hope we're past those kinds of bumpy awkwardness. One of my least favorite shoujo tropes is when girls are just Too Shy And Inexperienced To Even Speak To The Boy Who Clearly Likes Them.
And Haruna's just not like that? Even though she's pretty naive, she's also honest and outspoken and some of that felt pretty out of character to me.
Volume 5 is okay but leaned too heavily on Yoh getting upset at the idea of Haruna being too friendly with Asaoka. She starts out trying to hook Asaoka up with Mami...which is honestly also kind of an annoying thing shoujo does, with a whole friend group usually winding up with another friend group. Mami seems to be perfectly content without a boyfriend at the moment, and had presumably rejected the baseball captain who'd asked her out before? So like Yoh said, just let her be.
Asaoka turns a little devious and plays around with trying to make Yoh even more jealous...which...sure, I guess that's one way to make him talk to Haruna again. Even though he'd stopped talking to her because he was jealous to begin with?
It resolves okay, and there's an alright subplot with an old softball rival Haruna hadn't known was her rival. Mami turning out to be the brains behind the catcher-pitcher combo was funny and really says a lot about their dynamic.
Volume 6 is where the story finally hits its stride again and stops falling into the same old tiring shoujo tropes. This time, Yoh's ex-girlfriend shows up, and the way both Haruna and Yoh handled that was so mature and wonderful. This is the kind of relationship they've formed: open communication, genuine investment in each other's happiness, deep affection, and a selfless tendency to keep putting the other person first.
The only real problem is that they're both protectors, which means they butt heads while trying to take care of each other. It's also something they really appreciate about each other, though, so it's another piece of their relationship that works.
I was a little worried that the story would just float after the initial getting together, but I adored this volume! I enjoyed Haruna and Yoh's relationship so much more this time around. I really really appreciate Kawahara portraying the characters as mature and intelligent when it comes to interactions with each other; it's something I so rarely see in not just manga but all kinds of works and it's refreshing to see someone get it so right. I really love this and can't wait to get my hands on the next volume.
I really enjoy the growth that Haruna goes on. Though she is a bit awkward in the beginning, it's hard to not root for her to find her happiness. Yoh is really a good boy in a grumpy, attractive package, and we love to see it.
The cast of characters in this series are really enjoyable as well! Some favorites being Mami and Fumi! They all feed into what the main couple needs, and it works really well.
I wish I could have tweaked a couple of things, but other than that, I genuinely enjoyed the reading experience on this one!
since this review is coming later, there are some details i might be forgetting from when i first read it. ik i was annoyed with haruna’s miscommunication w/yoh in the beginning ,, so i was super glad/relieved when that arc was over 😵💫 thankfully, the communication did get better between the two the more i read on which was lovely to see. theyre so adorable together :,>. in regards to asami,,,,,why. smh the things she does/says, im not fond of her character much. or at all,,but who knows what’ll happen later.
The only thing I didn't like about this volume is the miscommunication they had in the beginning. I love the growth they are experiencing as a couple. They are so cute, I love them. It's nice to see Yoh showing a little more how he feels. I really like how Yoh handled the situation with his ex and how he told Haruna not to worry about it and comforted her. and the ending made me smile.
I didn't like this one as much as the previous omnibus. I felt like the silly/tropey things were a bit much this time around. Also Asami still sucks. Wtf if wrong with that family? Where are their parents? (this is a minor complaint)
3.5stars So this book started quite bad really I gave the first volume in here 2 stars and I almost didn’t continue. But since I have the whole book, obviously, I wanted to try again and amazingly it went soooo much better! I gave the second book 4 stars and the last one 4.5stars. The last one was so much fun! I love how kind and naive Haruna is! It’s adorable and I freaking love Yoh and her together! This last books had a bit more to it than usual, we got a nemesis and an ex. How could this go wrong?

I really love this manga. There's no boring moments as the story goes on. The characters are loveable and likeable especially the main characters. I really loved all of it. I wish I can manage to purchase a copy or please please someone whose rich out there please provide me a copy which is licensed in English T.T
The relationship between the protagonist is lovely and makes me chuckle constantly. I love the cast of characters and the scenarios that they deal with. Light soft romance, so easy to read and enjoy.
