Heather McCoubrey is a native of Maine but having moved all over the U.S. as a child, she doesn’t sound like one. She’s been writing since middle school when a teacher taught her she could create her own stories instead of just reading them. That year she had some of her first poems published in the school magazine and from there she graduated to writing a full-length novel in high school (which has been collecting dust on her shelf ever since!).

She is the self-published author of To Love Twice and Back to December. The novel that’s been collecting dust on the shelf, Emily’s Choice, was released in March 2016. Her fourth novel is scheduled to be released early summer 2017.

Heather resides in Pennsylvania with her three children, two dogs, two cats, the guinea pig, and the farm show goldfish. When she’s not being super-mom, she ekes out time to write, watch football, practice her British accent and dream of living on a tropical island where she can focus wholly on her writing.

OMG what a story.

This was my kind of book! The author contacted me the other day to ask if I had read it yet. She knew I had a long list and wasn't pushing me, just asking to see where in line it was. She had gifted me the book for an honest review, WELL, I can HONESTLY say that I was blown away.

Just lately, I hardly ever get a book where it opens with conversations, its that kind of writing the draws me in right away. Narration is good, but when a book opens with
Throwing her hands in the air, Kate walked into the closet and pulled out a suitcase "Im done, Brad. I'm just done" and so the continuation goes on between husband and wife.

I asked a question on 2 friends promote with authors, which is my group and my friends, why it is that books don't seem to start with conversations anymore, and that there seems to be a lot of detail as opposed to actions in the conversational manner. I was told by many that publishers like it that way and also happy endings. Well, feed the readers is what I say, not the publishers.

I adored this read, I am so glad Heather McCoubrey reminded me that I had the book for sometime and had overlooked it. The nudge was just what I needed. It was like a breath of fresh air in my reading.

I've been fortunate to be on a roll reading and reviewing lately with books, and this is surely in my top 20 of this year.

I'm adding Heather McCoubrey to my favourite authors so that I can get around to reading more of her books.

Thank you Heather for allowing me to read and review your books, you know how honest I am and this book was amazing, for me, and I am no one special, you have won my heart in the story telling of this lovely amazing story. Yes its a romance, but its much, much more than that. I don't like soppy romances. I life. Real life up and front realistic stories that can happen to anyone, not mushy.

This is not mushy, this is really really good. I was honoured to read it.

I don't usually read romance novels, but my wife recommended this one so I gave it a shot. It was great! A fast-paced plot and emotional turmoil on just about every page kept me interested and turning pages. I agree with the other reviewers that the characters were entertaining and well-written, especially the little girl. I'm always a sucker for a charming kid. A couple of good plot twists (one of which I NEVER saw coming) towards the end kept the momentum going right up to the last page. A strong debut novel from an author to keep an eye on!

This was a great read! I was hoping to savor it and read a little each night, but the storyline sucked me in. I am not ashamed to say that I finished it in 2 nights. What a lovely, well-written book. The characters come alive and are so memorable. The story is well thought out and takes a few unexpected turns along the way. I can't wait to read more from this new Indie author (a sequel would be great)!

This was just very unrealistic. Maybe I just don't think you can fall in love with someone over 1 dinner (or 2 for that matter) to the point where you are able to consider moving you and your child to a different country. Especially since you don't even know enough about the person to know that he/she is famous. I won't be recommending this book.

You know the feeling...after a long, tough day, you just want to sink into a hot, sudsy bath, sipping an icy drink and popping chocolates into your mouth, letting them melt on your tongue. Mmmrrh...such is the delectable, relaxing feeling you get reading To Love Twice by Heather McCoubrey. Kate Walker lives through strife and tragedy, staying strong and resilient for the sake of her new-born daughter. Five years later, life is good but challenging - Kate kicks butt at her demanding, yet rewarding, job as she works to make a happy home for herself and her daughter Mary. Life has settled down...but is that all there is? Kate has decided to be satisfied with creating happiness for others.

In walks Edward.

Does Edward fly in on a vine, saving Kate from certain death? No. Does Edward spy her across a chandelier-spangled ballroom and sweep her across the dance floor? No. Does Edward come riding up on a stallion through the fog? No.

Edward is a nice guy. And McCoubrey makes that just do damn irresistible. McCoubrey has already so vividly fleshed out Kate's character that when Edward appears, it is crystal clear just how much Kate needs...him.

But wait. It gets better!

Edward is fantasy fulfillment for Kate, yes. But even better? Kate is exactly what Edward craves in his life...a secret life that McCoubrey reveals layer by layer.

Throughout the book, McCoubrey uses metaphors of delectable food to echo the development of the relationship. The pair eat dinner together quite a bit, snatching whatever time together they can in their busy, disparate lives, and their dinners are amazing and so beautifully described. And that is how their bond develops – as the time out of their lives, delicious moments when they can just savor one another...Their love comes softly, but it is impossible not to want this happiness for them both.

Then...BAM!!!

The surprise twist at the end is PERFECT! Tense, suspenseful, deeply engaging...and even though it is a surprise, it is grounded in the story so artfully. You never see it coming, but once it does, it all makes perfect sense. McCoubrey gets daring with her choices at the end, and it WORKS!

To Love Twice is a sweet, soothing read. It is emotionally compelling and relaxing for the soul. Mmmrrh...

Where do I begin with this story? First, this story took me by surprise. It was free on Amazon. I first few chapters just drew me in. I mean I can’t remember a time where I cried during the middle of the story. This book was truly about the sacrifices we make for others and the act of desperation that would cause people to do extreme things. This is truly a romantic story about falling in love with your hero, only to lose your hero and to find your true love by fate. It’s not a steamy romance but the kind of romance that stays with you. Would I loved the most was the celebrity of the story really didn’t matter. It wasn’t the main story line of the plot. This was a wonderful story!

What a delightful novel this book is! It is the perfect romance. Perfect loved forged out of tragedy only to end in heartbreak and devastation. Kate isn't looking for another chance, but lets fate lead her. Everything Ms. McCoubrey does is just right. She weaves a story that draws you in, has you rooting for the main character, has enough romance without being explicit or silly, and even adds some unexpected twists and turns along the way. It is not at all predictable or stereotypical. It is the perfect book to escape for a day or so. And I say a day or so, because you won't want to put it down until it ends. Very well written.

Hard to put down.

I like this book, there wasn't anything I didn't like about it. Had a great story with betrayal, grief, hope, love and a good twist!! It flowed so easy I was done this book in no time! I enjoyed the way she incorporated spiritual signs into the story, those of which are how our loved ones communicate from the other side, perfect touch and timing with a touch of fate mixed in!

I really enjoyed this book. From start to finish it had me on a roller coaster of emotions. The book moved quickly and kept me entertained throughout. I felt attached to the characters and even missed them when I was finished reading. That, to me, is a sign of great character development.

I would recommend this book to anyone and look forward to more from this author!!

4.5 stars! To Love Twice is such an interesting, emotional and suspenseful book. I loved the drama and fast-paced writing and there were so many fantastic twists and turns that kept me guessing. And any story with a mom, daughter and a celebrity is sure to keep me flipping the pages. Wonderful characters who I would love to see again!

TO LOVE TWICE is a bittersweet romance. After a nasty end to her marriage, Kate learns the truth behind her husband's cruel and mysterious behavior -- only it was too late. It takes years to heal, and Kate is not sure if she even can. This is a heartwarming novel filled with emotion and great characters. The story was unpredictable. It really took me by surprise.

A sweet love story

If you're a fan of sweet love stories, this is the book for you. I enjoyed reading it and it was a quick read at that. It moved fairly quickly (I wish it would have slowed down a little!). I'm excited to read the sequel to this book.

I found it a little hard to suspend disbelief, both regarding the way the first husband handled a tragic situation and the way the second romance developed. Kate's reactions didn't seem realistic. It did keep me reading to the end, in spite of these problems and some editing flaws.

I found this author through an unfortunate mishap involving a car sliding into my pachysandra bed on a dark and rainy night (not her car but someone close to her). Out of curiosity, I downloaded her first novel and read it. It was really good and I will read the rest of her books now too. Also, in talking to her about the unfortunate mishap, I offered my services as an advance reader/editor of the 5 new books she is currently working on and I hope she takes me up on the offer. This story was so interesting (and heartbreaking in places) that I didn't want it to end and I hope she writes a follow up book about these characters.

Unrealistic and Unbelievable. For me the writing was poor to bad and belief had to be suspended to get through it. Cannot recommend.
