Legacy #7

Craig's Heart

Rate this book
Craig Lawton’s life is full. Filled with normal things like work as a video-game creator and financial investor, and not-so-normal things like two half-werewolf siblings and a vampire best friend.

He’s accustomed to being the only human in the room…until he attempts to help a desperate, newly made vampire in the throes of her first transformation.

Evie Pelowski is a woman alone. Left alone in a filthy alley to become a monster like the one that attacked her, unable to control the bloodlust surging through her veins. Now she’s done the unforgivable—turned her Good Samaritan into a monster just like her.

They must face the future while coming to grips with their new realities. But despite a strong bond ignited by blood and forged in the heat of sexual desire, despite Craig’s unshakeable determination to teach her to trust, Evie knows nothing she loves ever stays. Especially when the vampire who made her wants her back, and he’ll kill anyone who gets in his way.

Once upon a time N.J. had the idea that she would like to quit her job at the bookstore, sell everything she owned, leave her hometown, and write romance novels in a place where no one knew her. And she did. Two years later, she went back to the bookstore and her hometown and settled in for another seven years.

One day she gave notice at her job on a Friday morning. On Sunday afternoon, she received a tentative acceptance for her first erotic romance novel and life would never be the same.

N.J. Walters is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author who has always been a voracious reader, and now she spends her days writing novels of her own. Vampires, werewolves, dragons, time-travelers, seductive handymen, and next-door neighbors with smoldering good looks—all vie for her attention. It’s a tough life, but someone’s got to live it.

I can’t believe it’s over!!! But it was like the best was saved for last, because Craig and Eva definitely brought everything around full circle. I loved how these two were so strong and decisive when it came to each other. Eva is understandably cautious, but she can’t deny the pull between her and Craig. My heart broke for Craig when he thought everything would be okay and then wasn’t. And that final showdown, that solidified how much this group is family, found and blood, and nothing is tearing them apart (yes Damek, that includes you!) <3

The final book in the in the Legacy series, Craig’s Heart, was an amazing way to round out the series. I have always known Craig’s story would be special and Ms. Walters more than delivered. I loved this story it was well written and delivered and I can only hope to keep reading more of these wonderful authors work.
It took me a long time to read this book, not because I couldn’t, I purchased it when it was released. I didn’t devour it because it meant closing the Legacy series, a series I have loved from the very first book. If you haven’t read the Legacy series, I recommend you start today.

When video game creator Craig Lawton does a good deed by helping who or what -ever is injured in an alley while he’s out for a meal and running errands, the last thing he expected was an attack from tiny, pretty, unkempt and crazed newly turned vampire, artist Evie Pelowski. But by the time he realized the last part, it was too late to call his friends. Waking up vamped, it’s a good thing, Craig has a friend like Damek but Evie’s single minded for revenge.

Love this

I really loved this book. I was so happy that Craig found someone to love. Even though it was not how he expected things to go when he meet Evie. I really did enjoy this story even we got to know Damek more.

Craig Lawton is the brother to Chrissten & Quinn (half breed werewolves). He does the accounting and investing for his family and friends (whom are all supernatural) and creates video games. He loves information and is great at anything computer related including HACKING. Oh yeah, and his best friend Damek is a vampire.

Evie Pelowski is a local artist who loves to paint. Evie is just trying to make it as an artist by having her work in some local coffee shops around the city. Her past is filled with loneliness and abandonment leaving her with growing up in several foster homes. She has always been a lone wolf, which is saying something considering she gets turned into a vampire after being stalked by one for weeks. Now the old vampire, Vlad is keeping her hostage. She manages to escape and finds herself alone in a dirty ally unable to control her lust for blood.

Craig being the good guy that he is stumbles upon Evie on his way to Haven. Craig tries to help her by telling her that he knows someone that can help. But before he can call Damek to come to the rescue Evie attacks him. Unable to stop feeding in time she almost kills him and Evie being desperate to save him feeds Craig some of her blood. In doing so she accidently turns him into a vampire.

Now what are they going to do? As Craig comes around days later and now a vampire, he calls his BFF Damek to help them. Damek takes the new vamps under his roof and trains them as best he can to help them survive in the world.

The old vampire Vlad is still trying to get his Evie back but once he does he is going to kill her for leaving him. With Vlad searching for Evie, the new couple has to stay hidden as best they can. And with Vlad being so careless and leaving dead bodies all over the city he has also attracted Vampire Hunters who are out for their heads, literally.

Craig worries that his family and friends will not accept him with his new life of being a vampire. Evie has trouble forgiving herself for changing Craig’s life forever and with accepting Craig’s love for her. Craig comes to terms with his vampire status and is learning his abilities along the way. Together with friends and family they will need to defeat Vlad, be accepted, and Evie forgiven.

With Damek’s guidance and his family’s acceptance everything falls into place.

I have truly loved each and every one of the books in the Legacy series thus far and will continue reading this series until the very end.

A great love story, each book in the Legacy Series has given us great action scenes, suspense, along with great chemistry between the characters, but most important they have shown the power of family and love, this story is no exception. Evie never had a family, never anyone to care about her, afraid to let anyone close for fear of being hurt and for them to leave her, then slowly shown there was one who would always be there for her no matter what, even if it meant no more family ties for him because she was more important. Seeing a little of the different family members from previous stories and learning more about Damek, our very elusive and powerful vampire and his friendship with Craig, was wonderful. We can see Craig will become a powerful being as he learns and grows with his powers, he will need Evie, he loves her with all of his heart, she will stabilize him in any of his endeavors, just as he will always be there for her. A beautiful love story where you hope that in some way Ms Walters will continue with this series giving us more stories of these fantastic beings with their love of family and friends, I don’t want this series to end. What a joy to read!!

Craig Lawton is used to being surrounded by werewolf's and vampires. His best friend is a vampire, and his family is made up of half-werewolf siblings. Normally Craig is a tied to his computer, but when he heads to his family's bar he ends up seeing a girl who needs help only to be attacked and turned into a vampire.

Evie Pelowski has not had the easiest life, but she has done the best she can to make a life for herself. As an artist, she is thrilled when she finds out she has an admirer who has bought several of her paintings, but she never expected to have him become a vampire who planned to turn her into his newest toy.

On the run Evie knows what she did to Craig was wrong, that is why she changed him. Craig is forgiving, even if Evie feels he is wrong. With the help of Damek, Craig's best friend, they hatch a plan to destroy the vampire who is out to acquire Evie. Neither Craig or Evie figured on falling for one another, but the bond between them is strong and if Craig can crack through the walls Evie is hiding behind he knows they will have a happy life.

I liked this a great deal. I thought that both Craig and Evie were lovely characters who complimented one another very well. My only negative observations were that I thought the book was a little short and the story would have benefited from being a bit longer. Also I thought the distribution of power was a bit lopsided. Craig has super fighting abilities (honed by his werewolf relatives) and can control people's minds with ease, in contrast Evie can stay awake in the daytime... which isn't actually of any use during the story. I think my overall impression of the characters would have been even better had she not been solely the damsel in distress but in fact a partner in vanquishing the evil vampire who started it all. These are just my own personal observations, they in no way take away from the excellent writing and I highly recommend this novel.

I really liked Craig and I was glad he was getting his book. I like that his best friend is a vampire (Damek), but I always thought of Craig as a bit of a geek and a little weak. I'm thinking that's probably why I didn't like this book as much as Damek's. I knew Damek was strong (maybe going in I thought Damek was a bit smarmy and mysterious), but I always thought of Craig as the weak human (I know! 'Don't judge a book by it's cover'!).

I'm actually hoping that Ms. Walters will be heading over to North Carolina. I want to know about the rest of James's pack there.

The seventh book in the Legacy series is a thrilling and erotic paranormal romance that captivates the reader. The author has created a mesmerizing paranormal world that I thoroughly enjoyed. I haven’t read the first books in this series but I will definitely be remedying that and reading other books by N. J. Walters.

Love this series. Some books are better than others. This was a great addition. It gets a wee bit slow in the middle. You get a wee bit tired of Evie's need for 'space' from Craig because she's afraid or unused to being emotionally close to another. But Craig is so sweet to her. Utterly Beta and a geek with a hot bod. How can she resist that?
You also get more of Damek and Sophia in this one.
Awesome ending. Made me go Aaaaahhhh...

As soon as I started reading this book I did not want to put it down for anything. I wanted to start crying when I knew I had to put it down to go to bed. But the great thing was as soon as I woke up my nose was back in the book reading the drama of being a newly made vampire but with some great control. although they are a bit of sex phenes

N.J. Walters' Legacy series is one of my favorites. This story was about Craig, the human brother to half-weres. In this story we also saw a lot of Damek, who is one of my favorites in the series. If I say more I'm afraid I'll give the story away, so I'll just say I liked it a lot.

This is a shorter novel but I loved it. It brings closure to this part of the series. I loved the
play between pain and redemption between our hero and herione and between the pack(s) and Vampires. A great addition.
