Historical BDSM Romance

He's a second son. She's a second daughter. A twist of fate and cruel intentions brings this unlikely pair together in an impromptu marriage. Without a proper courtship, the pair must learn to live as husband and wife while facing challenges and dangerous threats that could destroy their marriage.

Andrew is a dominant young Lord who has very strong ideas on how his wife should behave. Cici is an innocent young Lady; sheltered, well-educated and well-bred. She is the image of feminine refinement and gentility that society expects. But if she is such a docile bride, why does she keep finding herself over her husband's knee for much needed correction? Will she learn to be the submissive wife he demands? And can Andrew exert his dominance without breaking her spirit.

Author Maddie Taylor brings her style of romance, combined with elements of humor and intrigue, to this Victorian Era romp. Included are scenes of consensual and non-consensual spanking where the feisty heroine spends an inordinate amount of time over her husbands knee, desk or settee. When will he learn that she isn't a child to be spanked and made to stand in the corner? Never we hope.

Cici finds herself in a compromising position with a young man named Andrew. He is supposed to be courting her sister, but her sister deems him unsuitable as he is the younger brother of a Duke and she would prefer the Duke.

Andrew will not stand by and let Cici’s reputation become tarnished so he takes the naïve, young woman to be his wife. He is immediately drawn to his timid bride, and is pleasantly surprised to find she is nothing like her conniving sister.

Cici is overwhelmed after becoming Andrew’s wife. She discovers he is in charge of multiple estates, which she would have a hand in overseeing the staff.

Her stress is only compounded when Andrew’s brother dies in an accident, leaving Andrew to become Duke. Now Cici is the wife to a Duke and she has hardly even adjusted to just being a wife.

I absolutely loved this book from start to finish. Andrew and Cici are thrown into a marriage that easily could have left them to lead separate lives. But Andrew decides he wants to try to court his new wife and see if they can find love between them. He has a very dominant nature and I was worried at first that he was going to come across as mean or harsh because Cici’s character is introduced as a sweet, shy girl. Maddie Taylor does a great job of setting the stage for the characters to fall in love.

Andrew starts their new relationship off by spanking his wife he hardly knows. He has explained to Cici that he needs her to be obedient and obey his rules. When he realizes that she seems nervous at the thought of being spanked, he takes her over his knee to get it out of the way.

I thought it was genius that Cici discovers she likes being spanked. It turns her on and it gave the book a sexier feel than if she would have just been afraid of her husband and afraid of being punished. She still wants to stay in Andrew’s good graces, but luckily for the reader she finds herself in trouble more often than she’d like.

This was a great story about two people trying to make a marriage of circumstance work. If you like historical romances, you will love this book. It had a few plot twists I didn’t see coming. There were tender moments and other times when I found myself laughing.

The spankings were hot, as was the sex. I feel like if Andrew and Cici were written in a more contemporary time they would probably be frequenting a BDSM club rather than attending balls and running a Dukedom.

I give Surrender Your Grace 5 Stars and highly recommend to any spanking romance lover.

This was not my kind of book. Good story but the spanking thing was a bit much for me.

I read for entertainment, and this historical romance set in 1800s England by Ms. Taylor delivered in leaps and bounds. It was addictive, keeping me on tenderhooks the deeper I became involved in the characters, their relationships, and the many obstacles placed before them.

The descriptive writing style tells a story with complex and transparent characters, and the book's beauty for me was Cici’s emotional growth. I love the era in which the book was set, though it did highlight the stark inequality between men and women, where a woman’s future was often decided behind closed doors through marriage contracts. The characters were believable and mostly likable, but they had flaws that made them more relatable.

I loved this book, and Cici and Andrew quickly became my favorites. Cici, with her gentle heart, and Andrew, with his commanding yet kind nature, complemented each other perfectly. Andrew was dominant but loving, always putting CiCi’s safety first and showing firmness over his knees when needed. Still, I have to say that it didn't seem much of a deterrent as Cici seemed to enjoy being punished by Andrew.

Despite the scheming, lies, gossip, doubt, and danger woven into the plot, I never doubted that CiCi and Andrew belonged together. CiCi’s low self-esteem was heartbreaking, and it seemed she had little chance of making a match until her sister’s manipulation left her humiliated in a compromising situation with Andrew, her sister’s intended.

I thoroughly disliked CiCi’s sister, who was the complete opposite of CiCi. Betrayal forced CiCi and Andrew into marriage, and when an unexpected tragedy occurred in the family, they were thrown into a world they were unprepared for. It became a test of love, loyalty, and resilience. It wasn't an easy journey, but they made it work.

This book was addictive because of its raw emotions, danger, grief, intrigue, gossip, romance, and spankings. It also highlights the evil lengths people will go to for money. The story was action-packed, and I loved the progression of their relationship with chemistry that sizzled. Andrew was so patient and had a willing partner in Cici. I enjoyed the humor and the twists and turns, but it was easy to work out, and I was not surprised when the culprit behind the danger aimed at Cici was exposed. I couldn't get enough of this book and can't wait for Maggie and Duncan’s story.

A well written book with a thoroughly enjoyable romance and lots of naughty fun. A lot of little details about the era (plays, books, and people that were well known at the time) added to the story and the dash of dangerous intrigue was a nice touch. I loved that the romance bloomed on the page. I also appreciated that the dominating husband was always fair and reasonable when it came to his discipline. For me, the fun of spanking romances is the fantasy of submitting to a dominant partner who dominates as an expression of care and extreme protectiveness. The hero has to be fair for that fantasy to work perfectly. This story absolutely succeeded on that point.

I am extremely miffed that there doesn’t seem to be a book for the sister and her Scottish fiancé, despite the obvious set up for a book.

For the love that is all spicy and steamy!! I am not a huge fan of historical romance, but if Maddie Taylor writes it, I will read it!! After a scandal forces Lady Cecilia Edward’s into the arms of Viscount Andrew Ashwick, her life is turned upside down. She knows she will never be enough for her new husband, as he was promised to her older sister. Fate has a funny way of changing things, and when passion, laughter and kisses change the course of their relationship. And their forced relationship turns into something more. Then tragedy strikes and the new relationship is tested, and when Cecilia’s life is threatened, their relationship is all that Cecilia has to hang on to. I loved all the characters in this book, especially Andrew’s mother(she is so wonderfully protective). The twists and turns, magnificent, the spice, oh my goodness so spicy!!!

I love Maddie Taylor’s stories no matter the subject or era and I love regency novels equally so this was a special treat. A love story with some spanking and a mystery to be solved all set amongst the ton and the season. Cici is delightful and rides to the occasion beautifully even with her despicable sister working against her. Andrew is the man of every girl’s dream but he is not a saint and that makes him even more appealing. This is a story that made me feel happy and reluctant for it to end, but somewhat consoled knowing Maggie’s story is coming.

This is book 1 in the Impromptu Brides set and it can be read as a standalone, HEA story. This author is a favourite of mine and in this story she doesn't disappoint. The characters are well thought out and drafted, the story is well written and easy to read and the story is long enough to really get to know the characters. I've read books from a number of settings by this author, but this is the first English-set, historical story and I'm glad to say it's just as enjoyable as her more American, historical romances.

Loved the mystery!
Especially loved the main characters!

I had fingers and toes crossed for Cecelia to find her perfect match, and not be "second best!"
But, did her luck turn on her!

Andrew.
Totally enjoyed him and his alpha dominance!

Is money the root of all evil?
Read this and find out!

Ms. Taylor hit it out of the park for me!

I enjoyed diving into the world of London Society and meeting sweet Cici. I liked Andrew and I was delighted that they found each other. All the characters are very well done. This is a full story with lots of different elements to hold the readers interest. I received an advanced reader copy of this book and am leaving an honest review. Well worth reading.

I liked the style, which was historically appropriate, as well as the fact that the hero punishes the heroine only when she is non-assertive (versus the classical bratty heroine formula). The love scenes had the intensity I liked.

I'm not a fan of corporal punishment in marriage. I understand kinks, but this isn't sexual. The wife disobeys, she gets spanked (by hand, strap, or cane), then they fuck to make up. Nothing sexy about it. Girl, fake your death and run! It will only get worse.

I read few historical romances, I usually prefer contemporary, so you can believe me when I say that I thought this one was perfect. The arranged marriage trope is perfectly executed, the sister is perfectly awful, Cecilia and Andrew made my heart swoon.
I am already waiting for the next book in the series.

Surrender Your Grace is the 1st in the Impromtu Brides series. It's a wonderful historical read which brings together a cast of interesting characters, a bit of intrigue and a tender romance complete with spicy sexy times and plenty of corrections. I thoroughly enjoyed Andrew and Cici's journey from arranged marriage to love match. Now I'm looking forward to the next story! I received an early copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book is by far the hottest, wittiest, all over most well-written Regency I've read in a long time. I loved everything about it. There is a great plot and of course it has 6o,ooo words so plenty of story to enjoy, not the typical 20-40k. I can't say enough for the wordplay. It was so entertaining and amusing. I laughed so much, I learned new things, I was totally absorbed, and of course- it was HOT_HOT_HOT! While I loved Maddie Taylor's other books- I think that she was born to write this. She has definitely moved to my READ NOW list.

This wasn't a bed story and Maddie Taylor did a good job of setting the scene, however the book needs editing and that takes away from the flow of the book. Didn't think it was one of her best. Didn't need to wait until the end to figure out who the villain was.
