I've loved her since the moment she was born. From the second her one-day-old tiny body was put in my strong, killer arms.
WOW. Wow wow wow. This book was incredible, I couldn't stop reading it! Before I go any further, there are NO "creepy" vibes regarding the MC's relationship with each other. This was done beautifully. NOTHING happens before she's 20 years old, but his attraction to her started when she was 18. Before then, he was simply her father's best friend.
Vaughn is Darlene's late fathers best friend. He is also her godfather. After her father died and Darlene turned 18, Vaughn protected her from himself. He was gone for 2 1/2 years but stalked and protected her from afar. He had cameras in her apartment and often watched her just to make sure she was safe.
Meanwhile, Darlene is on a trip for the weekend to spend time with her best friends and their boyfriends to celebrate her 21st birthday. What she doesn't know is that they have a vile, evil plan for her. Of course, Vaughn finds out... and he's her avenging angel.
In the present moment, I'm far worse threat to anyone who dares hurt Darlene. Because now I'm her protector, avenger, stalker, and I am madly, insanely, un-fucking-controllably in love with her.
In the beginning, Darlene is a bit of a shy, introverted pushover. But her character gets stronger with every page throughout the book! Vaughn on the other hand is SUPER obsessive about her and he has a plan to get rid of the threats in her life. A dark, deadly plan.
Woooow (again!) I loved this book so much. It's depraved and dark as hell, so mind the triggers! I haven't read a book that has gotten me so entranced in so long! There's mega amounts of degradation and praise which is the perfect combination. For the people who need safety info- Vaughn is celibate and utterly obsessed with the heroine. Darlene is just as obsessed and doesn't even look at another man.
Eva Marks has a stunning writing style and I'm planning on reading her entire backlog! <3

I enjoyed Vaughn’s unhinged approach and his dominant nature. I love an age gap, but sometimes the drawn out push and pull detracts from the relationship. You won’t find that here. They’re both all in and I’m about it. However, I did not connect well with Darlene. Throughout a significant portion of the book, she was utterly beguiled by her so-called friends. Then once secrets are revealed, she’s immediately a badass. She just wasn’t for me. All that said, the storyline was unique and the smexy times were smexy.

I've been dying to read this book forever!!! It doesn't hurt that the h is named Darlene!! I get giddy when I find books with my name!!
Vaughn, my man Vaughn, has been watching over Darlene most of her life since he's her godfather, but after an accident, he pushed himself away but watched from afar to let her grow. And that first chapter it was some spice!!! We love an obessed man ;).
We fast for few years Darlene is taking this trip with her 2 best friends and there boyfriends and other single friend, Things have been rocky on this trip with how her besties have been towards her. Mocking, cruel, she doesn't say anything, thinking it's the long car ride. What makes it worse they are trying to pawn her off to theirs friend because she's a virgin and what's rude they outted her as a virgin to the guys what great friends 😑😑😑.
So I didn't mind our girl having her stalker do some horrible things to them 😈😈😈😈
And boy, when Vaughn does stuff, I just melt. And I was giggy the whole time. The mouth on that mofo!!!!!

I gave it a try, but, nope, I can't do it anymore. 🙅♀️
The pacing was off, and it's slowly annoying me as chapters go by.
The FMC was dumb and blind not to see what was right in front of her. She kept saying she could handle her friends and she'd speak up, but none of that happened. She makes excuses for their rude behavior, and idk what the author was trying to make out of her, but there's a huge difference between being nice and stupid, and she's the latter. 🙄
The MMC was giving me the ick, and I know he's unhinged and obsessed with her. He says he loves her, but I don't think that's the actual case. Imo, he's in lust with her and has been for years, obsessively wanting to own her body, and make her his pet. 🤷♀️
I'm already at the halfway mark, and this is still the second day. Nothing was happening aside from the murders and MCs acting on their horny thoughts (they had interacted twice).
The MCs were unlikeable, and I couldn't feel any chemistry or tension between them. They were bland as individuals and as a couple. The love they kept spewing about was neither present nor palpable. 🥴
I think 50% is more than enough to show that I gave this a shot, but unfortunately, it didn't work for me.

Boring! The heroine was so freaking dumb. The plot and the tropes used had so much potential but poor execution, at one point it felt repetitive and dragged for too long. Total waste of my time. Also the book was very very slow and weird. When I started reading I had a much higher rating in my mind but as the book progressed it came spiralling down.

The only reason I’m giving this 3.5 is because the fmc was so annoying to me tbh . I love a good dark taboo romance , unhinged and deranged mmc and so on and so forth . I just continuously put this down because I can’t stand a weak fmc . She slowly and I mean SLOWLY gets mentally stronger but it took too long for me tbh .

While some parts were a bit long winded, this was mostly a super hot and sexy dark stalker romance with plenty of triggers and violence. But I’m into that so…😂

This was so bad I couldn’t finish it. Vaughan is so creepy and perverted. Total whack a doodle. The storyline definitely gives off a low budget horror movie feel. Darlene was just a pitiful character. Some of the sex scenes were cringe worthy.

I can see what the author was trying to do, but there were two things that killed any chance I had to like this book.

They way things are presented, we are supposed to believe a shy, barely able to form a coherent sentence virgin knows she's into rough, painful sex? Already skeptical. But when the murderer, stalker godfather is angry because the friends plan to kill the FMC? We haven't had the chance to like either MCs much, yet we are supposed to be outraged? The author just assumes we're going to be on the MCs side because they are MCs? 🙄

This book is about Darlene and Vaughn && I will admit it is a great story, but towards the end of the book, I had to push myself to keep reading. Don't get me wrong, the spice level was amazing in its own write. It had its great moments, but it seems liked it kind of drowned too much. The primal, taboo aspect of the book was great!

Like unaliving ppl at any point in time and giving 0 f-ks. I was stunned a few times. Getting the MMC’s backstory was sad.
Eva kept me on my toes with this one. I probably should have read it next month to prepare for spooky season.

If you want a fiery horror romance this is the perfect read!

He is a lawyer by day, and serial killer at night -- killing only the bad men. I read this book so quickly! I was immediately invested, and I couldn't stop reading. I loved how obsessed Vaughn is with Darlene, I'm actually jealous LOL. This man was slashing and chopping anyone who messed with Darlene, and he did it with no hesitation. The spicy scenes were off the charts -- trust me, you will be squirming and blushing. It's not a surprise that this book is amazing -- I say it in every review, but I love Eva's writing so much -- it's addictive to read. I'm super excited for her next book -- honestly, I'm super excited for everything she has planned to write, because I will read it instantly. EVA HAS DONE IT AGAINNNNN!!! THIS BOOK WAS UNHINGED, DISTURBING (IN THE BEST WAY), AND SUPER HOT. This book gave me Friday the 13th vibez, perfect for spooky season! Vaughn is WILD! He is a lawyer by day, and serial killer at night -- killing only the bad men. I read this book so quickly! I was immediately invested, and I couldn't stop reading. I loved how obsessed Vaughn is with Darlene, I'm actually jealous LOL. This man was slashing and chopping anyone who messed with Darlene, and he did it with no hesitation. The spicy scenes were off the charts -- trust me, you will be squirming and blushing. It's not a surprise that this book is amazing -- I say it in every review, but I love Eva's writing so much -- it's addictive to read. I'm super excited for her next book -- honestly, I'm super excited for everything she has planned to write, because I will read it instantly. If you're into dark, graphic, gory, horror romance, this book is DEFINITELY for you!

Well I was looking for a serial killer/stalker romance to read for the spooky season and this turned out to be the perfect fit!

That being said I felt like some of the deaths 💀🔪 could have been better. Some felt super rushed or just like “whatever” for what they were planning on doing. But I will say Roy and Lanes death were the preferred.
The spicy scenes were very nice! Though extreme to go from virgin to 🍑 and 👊🏻🐱 in under 24 hours was a bit much. 😂 Some of the wording and repetitive statements became annoying. The FMC was not my favorite and not very bright. When she became crazy 😈 that was fun! The epilogue could have been so good if they didn’t end it on a revenge note with having newborns… How could that possibly work?!
Overall the story was good! Great for a thriller read.

NEVER BEEN MORE TERRIFIED IN MY LIFE.
I mean, it's not that bad. It's a lot of horror, then obsessive-deranged-dark-romance.
But 'to fist' up till his wrist...I'm petrified like HOW?
He's not fisting through a balloon hole. And it's not making me tingly, kind of a lot of hurt.
