Robert Byrne is the author of seven novels, five collections of humorous quotations, seven books on billiards, two anthologies, and an expose of frauds in the literary world. One of his novels, Thrill, was made into NBC’s Monday Night Movie, which aired for the first time on May 20, 1996. Four of his novels were selections of Reader’s Digest Condensed Books and published in many languages. His style is widely praised for its clarity and wit. I enjoy reflections on life and humor. It is evident Robert Byrne does too. His quotes create smiles, tears, a pondering of others lives, and diverse thoughts. The Contents page divides the quote topics into three sections, Part Three being for "One thing and another." At the back of the book, you will locate listings of sources, references, notes, Index of Authors, Index of Subject, and keywords. His books remain on my library shelves for rereads to refresh my smile and reopen my mind to unknown others when a busy life tries to get in the way of a little joy.

By the time I got to the 4th book it became nauseatingly obvious that the compiler of these quotes/books was carefully sandwiching the really good quotes between the mediocre and outright worthless ones at a rate of about 1 good per every 12 bad. All the really good quotes from all 4 volumes could've been compiled into 1 book and it still wouldn't've totaled 637. Ho hum. But I guess that's how money is made. Still, the good quotes are great, and make this book worthy of 4 stars.

This collection of apropos quotes should be on every blogger's bookshelf, right above the keyboard. It is not only amusing, but well-organized. The author numbered the quotes instead of the pages. There is an excellent index of subjects and key words. I've ordered a collection of this and the first three books.
