This beautiful large well bound book would look great on your coffee table. It is written like a text book and explains step by step how to design a house using the method of the author and famous designer and teacher, Kelly Hopper. She gave a lot of good advice, along with many colour photos. The house we are renovating is much smaller than the large, luxurious homes and yacht depicted in this book. However, the basics still apply, and I am glad that I was able to borrow this book through Interlibrary loan. 3.5 stars ⭐️️⭐️️⭐️️💫
Having mixed feelings about this book. It gives you a couple of good piece of advice, but the pictures are very dated which makes me depressed . It would be great if Kelly had issued a new version of it with updated photos. I ordered it as a new one now. I agree with one of the other reviews the text part is good and useful though. It is in Kelly's signature style, black, white, grey, no colours.
This kind of reminded me of a textbook, featuring lots of taupe, grey and sand based interiors with only very occasional use of colour. Interiors are primarily high end including luxury yachts. Personally I found the decor styling to be quite predictable from page to page, with multiples of one item in repetition on a shelf or coffee table. The text content however was helpful and I would recommend this book to someone looking for ideas on layout and lighting when creating a large formal, modern interior.
