The last thing she wanted was to fall in love with her husband...
Heartbroken Rose Greenlee's world was crashing down around her. Betrayed not only by her betrothed, but by her own family, Rose felt as though she were living in a nightmare from which there was no end. Her only chance to escape was to run away to become a mail order bride, though she vowed that after suffering the pain of heartbreak she'd never fall in love again.
But David Thompson, her handsome new husband, stirs feelings in her that she wasn't expecting, and the walls around her heart begin to crumble. Just when she thinks she may have found happiness at last, her past comes back to haunt her and she has to decide where her heart truly belongs.
Rose Greenlee was totally devastated when her beau found he was the expectant father to her step-sister's unborn child. To escape the shame and pity she felt from her family and everyone around her, she became Mail Order Rose to handsome David Thompson in Middleton, Iowa.
David has a farm and she comes to love him and farm life as a wife to a good Christian man that loves and respects her. She share her loss and he shares his loss of his first wife and son as they help each other heal and make a new life following the plan for them. Mail Order Rose is a Christian love story that is full of emotion and renewal.
This newly re-released version of the novella "Mail Order Rose" is charming and poignant. The story is that of a girl learning to stand on her own against the malicious and indiscreet, and to love as a grown woman. Although there are plenty of Christian themes, we might also see them as simply themes about how to treat people, love in spite of heartaches, and forgive those who have wronged us. Really, wonderful themes.
The author has re-released this novella after working with an excellent editor. I highly recommend this story. I'd love to read more!
Very short and rushed. This plot has been done better, and I feel like the author didn't do herself any favors by keeping it so short. Another 30 pages would have fleshed out the story easily. 1.5 stars
The story idea was interesting, but since it's such a short work, it felt rushed. The writing was very simplistic, contained a lot of errors (misspellings, verb tense agreement issues, run-on sentences, etc.), and the dialogue was stiff.
I enjoyed reading this short sweet romance but as with other reviewers I wish it was longer. I liked Rose and felt sympathetic for her. I'm going to read the second book to this series now.
I am addicted to the Mail Order sagas of the West!I love all the different stories and adventures of all the young ladies and their stories of romance!
