To all great tales there are even greater beginnings . . . Ever wonder what your favorite X-Men characters did before the events of the X-Men movie? Now you can find out! This Marvel comic contains three never-before-seen exciting prequels to the X-Men Movie: Wolverine, Rogue, & Magneto. Journey along with Rogue & Wolverine on the adventures that led them to join Prof. Charles Xavier s team of mutant heroes, the X-Men. And discover what horrifying secrets caused the villainous Magneto to walk down his destructive path of hatred. The ultimate battle between good & evil begins here!
Collecting the three X-Men Movie prologue comics into one volume, this tome still feels as forced as it did when first issued. Wolverine's tale centers around a fellow amnesiac, as he must defend her from the police and the Japanese assassin known as the Silver Samurai. Rogue finds herself captured after running away from home, and must team with fellow mutant inmates top overthrow a secret testing facility. Magneto returns to the prison camp of his youth, and reflects on both the partnership and split with Charles Xavier. Little new ideas are offered, and most of the stories just pull from establish X-men comics to try and give this series more gravitas. I recommend this only for X-Men film completists.
Pretty good! Rendered absolutely non-canon because of future storytelling in movies (Silver Samurai's appearance, Charles and Erik's meeting, etc), but still a fun little opener for the first X-Men movie! This collection includes all three prequel comics for the first movie, which includes one Wolverine comic, one Rogue comic, and one Magneto comic. The art style doesn't match perfectly with the movies, but they were definitely considered especially when it came to outfits and side-cast (Magneto's Brotherhood of Toad, Sabretooth, and Mystique for example).
Definitely want to read the next set for X-Men 2!.
I thought this was fine. The stories were more compelling than the art. I would rank the stories like this:
1. Magneto 2. Rogue 3. Wolverine
Though I do like that we got to see Rogue and Wolverine meet up in both their perspectives. The X-Men (Scott, Jean, Ororo) do appear in this, but with very minor roles (pretty much cameos). Scott blowing up the desk TV in anger was a little funny though.
Wow, a literal cash grab. It pulls you in with the lure of Jackman, Mckellan and Paquin and then you're left with the comic version of these characters. It's too distracting for me. If they were drawn as they were in the movies, I would read it entirely. Marvel's marketing twenty years ago in using the movies to lure in new comic book readers.
Typically movie tie in comics are just fun stories that don’t really do too much but this one was really good. I really enjoyed the Magneto Story and the Wolverine one was pretty good too. The only disappointment was Rouges story. But overall a good X men comic.
Lo tengo porque estaba a 15$ y porque en su momento la película me pareció buenísima. No sé cuándo lo terminaré leyendo, pero es bueno saber que está. Aunque estaría mejor si tuviera más espacio :S
