Kendal Moore and Jax Parker met when they were eighteen. Two years later, they're together and are very much in love. At the age of twenty Kendal finds out she's pregnant, she knows she has to make the right choice.
Her Boyfriend, Jax is in an up and coming rock band called Decoy. Kendal knows that if she keeps the baby Jax will do right by her and support her all the way. But does she really want him to do that? She loves Jax too much to let him give up on his band and their dream to stardom.
So Kendal makes the hard choice to leave Jax and keeping the baby a secret.
Rockstar Daddy takes place four years after Kendal left Jax. Kendal is a hard working mum to three and a half year old Finley and Jax is a huge rockstar. Read Rockstar Daddy to follow Kendal and Jax's journey. Will Jax and Kendal meet again and will Jax find out he has a son?
My review is nothing personal to the author, it's just some cold hard honesty.
This was seriously the 2nd worst book I've ever read (of almost 800 I have rated on Goodreads) When I saw the blurb I was super excited to get to read the book, but right from the very beginning the spelling/grammar/editing was literally so bad that I had to reread almost every page of the book meaning it took me twice as long as it should have. Seriously, SPELL CHECK IS YOUR FRIEND, PEOPLE! Some of the sentences were so bad the author decided "Huh, I don't know what word goes here, let me just make one up for you." I thought originally, when I started reading, "Well, it's a new author, she'll straighten up some errors as the book continues." However, this was not the case what so ever.
The main errors (all the way through amongst many many others) were the use of there, their and they're... Using no instead of know and his instead of he's. It was ridiculous, and reading the book, I felt my IQ slowly depleting as I got further and further in... Even the speech was set out wrong... This is literally grade school English (I think middle school for Americans, primary and early secondary school for Brits.)
Here's the thing, the plot was actually fairly good - if the author had written it so it wasn't dragged out with so much unnecessary filler information, it would have been better - but the plot was something I felt myself getting into. There were just so many errors that reading, I lacked empathy for the characters and I couldn't really picture them or how I would expect them to be, so it was all very anonymous in my head (which isn't a good thing)
The overall dragging out of the plot meant that in the book, Kendall and Jax didn't even meet til around 2/3 of the way into the book, then they only actually met 3 times during the entire book, one of which ended with a fight, the second paparazzi and the 3rd a huge screaming match and then a whole bag of nothing. That's where it ended... Can you say this sucks? Cause if there was a rating for that, I would've chosen it.
The book is written over a period of 3-4months yet there is absolutely no character development.
Okaaay. Someone should hire an editor and that someone is not me. I hope that there was some mistake and I did get some wrong copy, because I really don't know how anyone could publish this.
Correct spelling was almost non-existent and I could count the commas on one hand.
The whole book seemed like it was written by a ten year old. The storyline itself was good, but it was written in really plain way and it was way too straight forward and bare. No deep thoughts or anything. Just she went there and did that and this is the reason why she did it.
To be honest I skipped a lot of parts because I just didn't have the nerves to read it all.
The plot is pretty simple and cliché. Kendal and Jax were dating. Jax was in a band. Kendal got pregnant. Kendal thought she would hold him back and broke up with Jax. Jax left. Little Finley was born. Four years later Kendal decides it might be a good idea to tell Jax he has a son.
And this is the way the whole book was written.
It was agonizing read and while I am not a native speaker can write better and do not mistaken there and their, no and know, his and he's.
What also made my eyes burn were the text they send to each other. u2, b4, c u..
The characters were uninteresting and there was too many names to remember. If they were interesting then maybe.. But they all seemed the same. There was no character development. Jax and Kendal met again after four yeard in the last third of the book and they didn't even talk for more than couple of minutes.
Unfortunately it ended in a cliffhanger so I'll be forced to read the next one, because I just have to know how it ends (not that it's not totally predictable).
This is the first book I’ve read by K.T. Fisher and I was intrigued by the book description. K.T. Fishers plot and characters were well thought out, the story was easy to read, story flowed extremely well, I finished the book in one evening.
The story begins with Kendal, here we begin to understand how much she loves Jax, ending things with Jax isn't easy for her especially finding out she is pregnant and knowing what he would do, she decides not to tell him so just maybe his dreams will come true.
Fast-forward 4 years later, Jax is returning to their home town and Kendal is worried.... she has never told Jax about his son.
I enjoyed the Rockstar Daddy and K.T. Fisher writing, there is a cliff-hanger at the end of the story but I knew Rockstars Girl was available so I didn’t’ get to pissed off. (I hate cliff hangers)
I have rated Rockstar Daddy 3.5 stars and would definitely recommend anyone who loves romance, sexy men and happy ending to pick up this series. I will give you hint though Rockstars Girl is great!
Jax and Kendall were a cute couple and Jax was in making to become a rock star and his band was making the name. Kendall decides that Jax needs to stay on with his band and that lifestyle, hence she leaves.
Either of them can get them out their heads, after 4 years, they meet again... and there is a secret that Kendall has been keeping it from Jax! Now that the secret is shared, the book ends.......
There were parts in this book was not really relevant where I wished the author would have written Jax and Kendall story more. I was waiting for these two pair to reunited and when they did, the book ended.
I skipped so many conversations among friends because I wanted to just get to the part wherein the main characters would meet again. It eventually came, but not soon enough. I wanted to see what will happen when Jax finds out about the kid, but hey, the heroine just became so stubborn and ignored everyone's advice of telling the dad right away. It's also weird that all the drama fit into maybe 2 days near the end? Exhausting really.
3.25 stars. So, I loved the synopsis more than I loved that actual book. The main reason that I was so turned off from the book was that for more than half of it, Jax and Kendal do not reunite. That made the book completely DRAGGED on! I kept reading and holding on because hoping they would meet soon, and after the billionth time that Jax or Kendal said they had to find each other but didn't, I started to skim the book. I hate doing that because I feel like I would miss some key parts. But, I didn't. Rockstar Daddy did not get good until they actually met and we get to see their connection. However, there was very little steam and they don't do more than kiss once. Granted, after they did reunite you could feel their connection and how they were always drawn towards each other but that only started in about 75% of the book. That was a MAJOR letdown. This also has a cliffhanger. It's a really good thing I didn't read this until the second book was out. What I did love throughout the book was Finley! OMG! I need a rockstar son :P! He just made the book brighter. Anyways, I will be reading the next book because I need to know what happens but I sincerely hope that the next one is a lot better than this one!
I liked the blurb more then the whole story itself. Honestly, the concept of the story was good but it was too draggy, lots of parts were pointless with spelling errors and the most important part of the story that people expects to read comes at the end part of the book & then has to wait for the next book to find out what happens. Im sorry but this book was really disappointing and not to mention frustrating.
It took forever for Jax and Kendall to reunite I swear to god. She seemed to be mostly doing the same things, just her daily life, for half the book. Jax sounded really cute (in her memories), so I was really excited for them to get together. I loved the very beginning of the book (Jax's perspective) and it drew me in. I loved how no woman could make him feel like Kendall did.
Anyways, there was way too much drama at that wedding LOL. But it was all cute and romantic. I even looked up the songs mentioned in the book, the ones that they made love to in the past and danced at to at the wedding, and today I was listening to the saved songs on my Spotify... If a book makes you look up music you've never heard before, you know it's probably a good book.
Reread so I could read book 2: Not nearly as good as I remembered. Maybe now that I've read so many more books, my expectations are just higher? I don't know, but I definitely wouldn't have given this 4 stars today. Honestly, I was disappointed by the quality of conversation between Jax and Kendal when they finally reunited. And they don't even have sex either!
It's quite a juvenile book and could have used a good editor and formatter. Having said that, I probably will read book 2, though, lol. Just to know what happens...
I bought this book because I love Rockstar stories and I love stories about a father who meets his child for the first time for whatever reason... and this book combines both.
I am sure that I would have like the book if it wouldn't have been so fast. It was more like: Now this is happening, then this is happening, this happens next and then this is happening. I am not sure how to explain it, it seemed to me like the author wanted to continue the story as fast as possible. Maybe I am spoiled by the books I read lately, but in my eyes it wasn't enough. The situations changed to fast, the feelings of the persons changed to fast. There wasn't really a conflict at all, which is just wrong when it is about a story like that. I mean... since she left him all he wanted was a family and then he finds out that he could have had is the whole time if she wouldn't have told this major lie. The actions of the characters were just so unreal. She told this big big lie and everyone seems to be okay with it.
I can't believe how many people liked this book!! It was poorly edited, and lots of scenes that could have been easily cut out weren't. It goes through and explains every single detail of every single day, then occasionally skips a month, then continues. It is in desperate need of a good editor. I am so unimpressed by this book that I can't even articulate it with full sentences and proper grammar. The book (I refused to all it a novel) is quite a bit longer than average and by the end, they have only briefly kissed twice, been really horny frequently, and the father just found out he was the father of the child. Massive cliff hanger that didn't leave me hanging. I wouldn't read the second book to see if they live happily ever after, or any books by the same author. I have read lots of similar books, surrounding the whole rockstar, bad boy thing and this was by far the worst.
When the ending came I was growling because that just couldn't be the end. But, yep, it was. A cliffhanger. How I hate those. Right at a very crucial part I might add. Now I'm dying to know what happened and I have to wait. Curses.
ah...what to say about this...bad writing...bad grammar...no editing...seriously...what are authors up to these days...can't they get their novels edited before publishing them...
Lordy, I'm so torn on this review. I first read this book back in October 2013 and at that time, I loved this book. Since it was so long ago that I read it, I figured I needed a good re-read in order to write a review. I don't really want to give everything away in the first paragraph, so let's get started.
Book #1 in this series is going to focus on the relationship between Kendal Moore and Jax Parker and will be told through both POV's. Kendal and Jax fell met and fell in love while they were in their early 20's. Together for 2 years, Kendal was a college student and Jax was lead singer for a local band, Decoy. When Kendal finds herself pregnant, she is not just shocked, but realizes that in order for Jax to see his dreams for Decoy come true, she is going to have to end her relationship with him and keep the pregnancy a secret.
Now it's four years later and Decoy is a huge success and Kendal is finding her way with the help of her parents and friends as a single mom to Finley. She is fulfilling her dream as a hairdresser, but as her son gets older, she starts to question her decision in keeping Finley from Jax.
Once word gets around that Decoy is back home and making plans to stay a while, Kendal now knows that she is going to have to find a way to come clean to Jax. The problem, she's not sure on how to find him. Little does she know that fate is working that out for her all on it's own.
Kendal has a great group of long time friends (Jessica, Tanya, Maisy) and when she meets Sophie, it's just one more girlfriend to add to the group. Sophie just so happens to be the fate that is going to intervene right smack in the middle of Kendal's life.
There's a lot I'm not saying here, I gotta keep some mystery. Here's the nitty gritty. First, I think that the story line here is a really good one, but I think that the author struggled putting the whole thing together. The book is very unnecessarily wordy. There are a lot of times where the author described things, that almost made me feel like she was trying to fill space. Kendal was a little bit of a dual personality character. She appears at times to be fiercely independent and someone who really knows who she is. But enter Jax and everything seems to turn to mush. For example, once they rediscover one another, Jax makes it pretty clear about his feelings regarding Kendal, which are strong, but every time he makes a comment that is even remotely flirtatious, her inner dialogue questions it "Clearly he couldn't mean me?" Also, the "I left him so he could pursue his dream, but I think I made the wrong decision" was beaten to death, I don't know if it was to fill space or she was really trying to get her point across. I do think that the story was told well from Jax's POV. The author did a good job with "male speak".
The supporting characters in this book are written very well. There is great chemistry among all of them. The only one I'm on the fence about is Mark, there was just something about him that kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Now I know I pointed out a lot of "bad" with the story, so let me focus on some of the good. The way the author wrote the relationship between Kendal and Finley was lovely. She did a really job not focusing on the stress of single motherhood and instead focusing on the beauty of motherhood. The relationship that Kendal had with her parents was also written really well. Even though Kendal got pregnant at a really young age and as far as her parents knew, it was more of a one night stand (the story she sold them), they never held that against her.
While this may not be my favorite rock star series, I will continue to read it, if anything, to get the closure. I'm not really sure if I can give this series a full on recommendation, especially if you've read series such as Stage Dive or the likes of. However, if you haven't yet had the pleasure of indulging in some Rock Star love, then this is a good series to start with.
My first thoughts when coming across this book were- ''Oh my.......Look at that cover!!'' Seriously I'd buy a 400 page book if that guys image was on every single page!
This book crashed right into the story, which I really liked, it was straight to the point- Kendal had just discovered she was pregnant. She was pregnant with Jax's child. Not exactly a bad thing as she knew damn well that he would support her and be there for her and the baby, they loved each other. But that itself was a problem for Kendal. Jax was just about to hit the big time with his band, and she knew that if he stood by her and the baby it would mean giving up on his dreams, quitting the band and getting a regular job which she knew in the end would make Jax unhappy. So she did what she thought was best and let him go. But she did this without telling him he was about to become a Father.
Fast forward 4 years into the future- the band has made it big time, Kendal is still in the place she was when Jax left, shes a mobile hairdresser and single parent to Finley. She has had boyfriends but none of them made her as happy as Jax did- he was her one that got away.
But now she is regretting what she did. Shes now realising that what she did- although she thought it was right at the time, was extremely selfish. She's kept Jax away from his little boy, and she has kept a little boy away from his Daddy.
She needs to tell Jax..........
As this is set in a dual POV we then flip over to Jax- whom has become a bit of a man whore. Sleeping around with faceless women, theyre faceless as even when screwing them all Jax can see is Kendal's face. He is still desperately in love with her. But he wont ask her back as she fed him lies during the breakup stating that she couldnt cope with other women throwing themselves at him.
He needs a break and he needs to go home, back to where it all began. And luckily enough a chance meeting through a mutual friend has this all setting in motion.
My thoughts-
It was ok....not bad, ok, and it was a bit slow at getting to the point.
It was well towards the end when Jax even found out he had a son. I felt like it should have been dealt with a lot earlier in the book so that we could have felt more of his reaction. Also i wish I had seen more of Kendal and Jax together. i think overall they were only really in each others company maybe 4 or 5 times throughout the whole story.
To be honest I became a bit overwhelmed by all the supporting characters. Both Jax and Kendal had lots of best friends- I think Kendal had approx 6 and Jax 4, so it was hard trying to remember who was who in the story.
I thought Kendal was very selfish, she kept a boy away from his Dad, although she thought her reasons were justified, I didnt. It was never her choice to make and she should have let Jax make the decision for himself. Even after his return she had sooooo many chances to tell him that he had a son and it she was just dragging it out.
Jax was the key character in this book for me. His POV was fantastic. He was so in love with Kendal but its yet to be known if he forgives her for what she has done as this book ends on a major cliffy!! Grrr!!
I'd never read anything by K.T. Fisher before I picked up Rockstar Daddy. I read the blurb of the book and decided I was in the mood for a rockstar romance, second chance romance, and secret baby kind of book. I like all of those themes and I wondered how it was all going to play out.
While the story itself is not new, I liked how the book was set up. The book is told from both Kendal and Jax's point of views. I really liked how the story didn't just focus on Kendal and Jax together as a couple, but it also showed them when they were apart and before their reunion. I liked both Kendal and Jax. Even though I didn't agree with Kendal's rationale for her decision it was easy to see that it wasn't done out of malice. I've got to say my favorite character in this story was Finley. He was just adorable.
Jax and Kendal had chemistry and the love was still there. I enjoyed seeing them figure things out. I also liked meeting their separate and mutual friends. The book ended on sort of a cliffhanger, nothing serious, but I was interested in seeing where the story went from that point. I laughed while reading this book and there were a few tears, but it was a quick enjoyable read.
Kendal’s life is satisfying as she works a job she loves, is a loving mother to her four-year old son Finlay and enjoys the love and friendship of family and close friends. She is relatively happy but realizes after ending a relationship with a really good guy that she really hadn’t stopped loving Finlay’s father. Young and unsure, Kendal made the decision to not tell Jax he was going to be a father – instead, breaking off their relationship to allow him to pursue his music career. An unexpected friendship with a client threw Jax back into Kendal’s life and she knew it was time to be honest with herself, Jax and Finlay.
While the storyline may not be a new one the characters were interesting and the group of family and friends was one you couldn’t help but want to join. Given their relationship, Kendal’s decision to drop Jax and raise the baby alone seemed a bit drastic but I’m certainly enjoying watching them work at re-establishing their relationship. The secondary characters are supportive and fun – I hope they get their own stories. This story is continued on in the next book of the series and I look forward to it!
A second chance with your first love makes for an amazing story. Add in a secret that has been kept that is life changing and you know you're in for a ride.
Kendal and Jax were and still remain in love with each other. Kendal let Jax follow his dream as a rockstar and let him go. Now he's back and still wants her but the secret she has kept could drive a permanent wedge between them.
This was a great read. K.T has created a highly enjoyable story, with great characters and kept it on point. This was the story and there was no distractions from it. This gave you the chance to get to know the main players and fall in love with them. A great ending and I'm ready for more of Jax and Kendal's story.
I enjoyed the book, though it seemed to take ages before they meet up again, which made some parts a bit pointless, but it still plods along nicely. But once you get in to the actual story line (when they meet again) it is really good, it's a shame it takes until half way through the book nail the good parts start. Setting those aside it is a nice book and a decent story line, Over all I did enjoy it. I will recommend it to anyone who wants a good story line, nice smooth read!
I really enjoyed this story. Kendall & Jax are a great couple. This book had me on edge the whole time. I was frustrated at how long it took Kendall to tell Jax her secret though. It took the whole damn book, but the story kept me captivated. Enjoyed all their friends too. Finley was so cute. There is a cliffhanger & l'm so glad l can go straight into the next book.
I would of luved to give this book 5 stars as the basis 4 a fantastic series is all there characters storyline but the editing needs to be done so bad I hope this can be corrected in book 2 because I really liked the storyline so this is why I had to give it 4 stars
I really liked this book the story & characters are great. It needs to be edited a bit more and then I'd think it would be perfect. Just a few minor typos & other editing problems. But its still a great story
