3 Stars! Cute read with some steam!

I loved the idea of this story, the book was rolling along nicely, rather enjoyable, until about 70%! Then Will had to go and ruin it with his 'my way or the highway' attitude! I was initially charmed by his character and then he annoyed the heck out of me when he got so pushy. I could almost understand his reasoning, but I don't know, he rubbed me the wrong way with his ultimatum. Anyhoo, it all worked out in the end.

Not a bad read for $0.99, but there were quite a few typos. Nothing earth shattering, but enough to be noticeble. The author's storytelling was not bad, plenty of good dialouge, some well executed steamy stuff, and a nice little epilogue. The author has potential and I would consider reading another one of her books.

If you're looking for a quick read, not too heavy on the angst, but very sweet, then I would recommend it. I just don't know that I would pay the full price of $2.99!

Well, this story definitely has a unique and captivating beginning. I was caught right from the get-go. I really appreciate the whirlwind with a pause. It makes the relationship seem more realistic and plausible. Not only does Ryan have a very well developed storyline that will tug at your heart and make you giggle a time or two, but her phenomenal writing style will draw you in. Her descriptions are beyond compare. Everything is simultaneously down to earth and out of this world. Although natural and realistic she makes everything pop with vivid realism.

I love the main character. She’s such a city girl and so real. Her reactions are to the core. It’s priceless at times. The male lead is great too. You really get to know him as in individual and as a professional. The supporting cast lends a hometown feel to the story. Some are quite well developed, while others remain superficial. It really adds to the story itself. Their developmental status is directly related to their role in the story.

Overall this was a very unique yet utterly enjoyable story. I couldn’t put it down and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

I was a city girl who moved to Maine to go to college and I met my country boy who eventually became my husband so this story feels a bit like mine. Circumstances were different and we now travel everywhere with the military but Maine will always be home. Thus story was sweet and I enjoyed reading it.

What I thought

While I didn’t like Calista at first, in fact I rather hated her for a bit there. Her attitude sucked and I hated that she thought she was better than everyone just because she was from the big city and had all her teeth. But I think that was necessary for her to grow in the long run, and boy does she grow. She becomes someone I could see myself being friends with.

I liked Will from the outset, he was big and tough and manly and just what I like in a hero. He was into the outdoors and had a rugged quality to him.

The writing was well done and I enjoyed Shayna Ryan’s style. The descriptions were awesome and in-depth, I could see, it feel it, smell it and I wanted to be there. I thought the way everyone interacted was well done and real, the dialogue was believable and so were the thoughts and feeling behind everything. The secondary characters were well written too, and I loved the small town vibe.

Like I said this was a cute little read. There was no real big conflict going on, if you are looking for something light ,fluffy and a little bit sexy to fill in between heavier books this is the way to go. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

One Week in Maine is a little bit of different type of romance than what I typically read, but when the author contacted me to see if I would be interested in a review, I jumped at the chance. I love stories with two people whose fling or relationship has an expiration date. It's fun to see how it progresses and what happens when they hit the time limit. A country girl who now lives in the city (or the suburbs, at any rate), I also enjoy books with displaced characters. This book offered up all of that.

Calista was a good heroine. She was likable, even if she was a bit whiny. But, let's face it, if I was having money problems and my car broke down in the middle of nowhere, I'd be pretty whiny too... so I guess I related to her pretty well. She had a strong personality and a backbone, which is something I don't always see in books I read. Will was smoldering. All man. He's also a little more controlling than I tend to like in a man, but he would definitely make for a good fling. Oh, and Will's Aunt Dottie? Loved her. She was a great secondary character.

The conflict occurred when Calista and Will's fling turned into more. Feelings grew and decisions had to be made. Both Calista and Will had a very good idea of what they wanted – each other – and what they didn't want to give up – their current lives and jobs – to get it. Could they find a compromise? You'll have to read it and find out for yourself.

One Week in Maine is a novel that contemporary romance fans will definitely enjoy. It was a fun and sexy romp and at 169 pages, a super quick read.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Will, a game warden in rural Maine, and Calista, a graphic designer in Hartford, meet when she hits a deer on her way through his small hometown going to a friend's wedding. Her car is going to take a week to fix so she's stuck there. The only room available is in an Inn that's been closed for several years. Now the owners just live there, but they are happy to let her stay in one of their rooms. Will lives in this house and is the great nephew of the Inn's owner, Dottie. He takes care of her and helps her keep up the large building.

I liked the writing style in One Week in Maine. Everything is vivid and extremely well laid out. The author created a world that you can imagine yourself walking into. I would love to visit Maine now. There was lots of steamy sex but I was glad that the sex scenes weren't terribly explicit.

I liked the characters and felt a connection with Calista. I understood her thoughts on not being 'that kind of girl' but went for it anyway. I did wonder why she was so adamant about going back to Hartford when it didn't look like she had all that much to go back to. Will was wonderful. Very capable, kind and considerate, especially of his aunt. And, of course, handsome. I was a bit puzzled by his mood swings the first few times they had sex. I didn't know what to make of him but it was explained later.

The secondary characters were well developed and added interest to the story. Dottie especially was a nice addition but did not take away from the main characters at all.

I won this book in a giveaway.

Sigh......... I loved this book! It was sweet and sexy, just an easy, refreshing read. I honestly can not remember where it was suggested as a good read, but thank you to whomever recommended it to me.

I read a LOT of different types of romance and erotica. I am obsessed with my Kindle. Thus I have a great deal of books to compare against each other. This book is romantic with some very steamy scenes. It is not erotica, and no D/s, so if you are looking for that, you won't find it here. I also thought the author did a very good job describing the beautiful scenery and quirky, friendly personalities of rural Maine.

Just a lovely book. Very well worth your time and trouble to read. You won't regret it.

This is a sweet story about how a city girl named Calista meets a country boy named Will in rural Maine all because she hit a deer. Not only does she miss the wedding she was on her way to, but her car is out of commission and she is stuck in this small town for a week while she waits for her car to be fixed. And of course, she meets and falls for Will, who is the game warden.

This book was completely sweet and romantic. 3.5 Stars

This was a nice feel-good story. There were parts where I wanted to slap Calista because she was being incredibly dense but overall I would recommend it to others :)

Fun and slightly steamy insta-romance. My only issue was the barrier was not really a barrier at all making the "drama" totally unnecessary. I loved all the characters and the witty writing.
