Ok well that was interesting I think if I could stop being grossed out by the fact that she was treating herself like a whore I have to give my virginity to him to pay him for saving my life blah blah blah. And that first time he did not even look at her. Yuck it was like two animals. I did not like it all. Guess I am a traditionalist. This whole book screamed cheep and easy. And hum the tally of how much their sex meant in terms of money yuck yucky. Glad this one was a freebie.

Classic Series Romance

THE SPELLBINDER is a 1980s series romance. It is the story of Brody Devlin, an amazing actor and Sasha Lotion, a gypsy girl. Brody is a man who sees himself as shallow, a failure and selfish. Sasha is a woman who is determined to give and never take.

I absolutely love this story. Almost 30 years later, one can quibble with the lack of character development, the overly aggressive hero and the meek heroine. The series novel at the time was highly restricted in length and content. To me, none of these things matter. I love the two main characters and their love story is beautiful and I really like Johansen's language. Brody is the type of brooding character who is made better by his interactions with Washable.

Fans of her current suspense books may not like this pure romance and certainly her craft has developed in those years.

This is one of my favorite classic Johansen and I recommend that readers with an open mind give it a try.

When the female acts skanky , I’m gone. Flirty yes, but he takes her with no respect, doesn’t even look at her. I guess you ask how far will you go to be with a man, and that’s past my limit. Mede the book feel low class. It did not come across, like one of her thrillers at all. The crappy junk got in the way and to in your face. 2 stars for all the great books I have read. This just wasn’t one for my taste.

"The Spellbinder" is the story of Brody and Sacha.
Brody is a famous actor, bored with his life of glamour and sex, when the stranger Sacha shows up into his life. The attraction is instantaneously, but then Sacha claims she is related to him.
My two issues with this book
- Half of the book has the h thinking she's the Hs sister and trying to convince him of the same- and the hero wanting to sleep with her
- The second half is her forcing him to sleep with her in order to repay the "non stolen" debt (you have to read the book to understand the asinine logic)
There is a suspense plot regarding the h and a evil from her past, but it's widely overshadowed by the strange relationship between the main couple.
