Blurb: With a tempting invitation to join a crew preparing for the infamous race, Phase Nine, Priya has left her job and traveled across space, only to find herself face to face with the man who broke her heart.
Now she must decide if her tattered heart can withstand the long journey, or if she should bow out and return home a coward.
Kiersten Fay is the USA Today bestselling author of the steamy Ever Nights Chronicles, the award winning Shadow Quest series, and the popular Creatures of Darkness Series.
The first book in her Ever Nights series, Keeping His Siren, won the 2018 National Excellence in Romance Fiction Award, and the third Shadow Quest novel, The Demon’s Retribution won the 2012 Gravetells Favorite Story award, earning her a nomination for Favorite Author in that same year.
When not writing or catering to her two demanding cats, she can be found fussing over cover designs for her next novel.
I enjoyed the story, however I expected it to be longer due to the page numbers shown on my ereader, I didn't realize that over half was excerpt for Demon Possession.
Racing Hearts is like a teaser for what would be a great additional story in the Shadow Quest series (hopefully it will turn into a full length book). The story is about Priya quitting her job to enter into the Phase Nine race as part of Adain's crew (we know him from the previous books in the Shadow Quest series) however she discovers her past love, Vin, is also going to be part of the crew. The whole of the story is them being forced to talk about the reason as to why they split and discovered it was based a fight and that Priya took off without explanation and Vin not seeing the clue she left for him to follow her.
It only took ten minutes for me to read, and only two minutes for me to be completely hooked. I loved this little teaser and can only hope there is another book coming in the series that continues this story!!
Wonderful short story. Like every other book in this series I was absolutely drawn in. I would recommend reading at least the first three in the series prior to reading this one. I'm hoping with all I have that Aiden's story will be next in the Shadow Quest series!
A quick novella in the Shadow Quest series, a second chance romance for Priya and Vin who broke up due to a misunderstanding and were thrown together again when prince Aiden assembled a crew to race his ship.
This was a very quick read. Interesting futuristic take on competition and love. Priya and Vin have a past. Aiden needs a team to compete in the Phase Nine race. This answers questions that had been left at the end of their previous story.
This took about five minutes to read. The couple we have never seen before or heard about. We get almost no back story, no drama, nothing really. But what was there wasn't horrible.
Honestly, this apparently is one I read awhile ago, but hadn't reviewed. It came back into my carasel and I was left at the end with the start of Demon Possession, which I also read the entire book, I remember it and enjoyed it greatly, however, I'm not remembering Racing Hearts, if it didn't leave an impression, I'm guessing I didnt like it too much. I'm sure through that AS much as I liked Demon Possession, Kiersten is a Great author, the one series just didn't appeal to me.
Yes this is short but it is extremely well written. It a little taste into the characters lives. I loved Priya's tough exterior that she portrays to the outside world. Vin is a man who made a mistake but never expected Priya to do what she did in response to that mistake. It is part of the Shadow Quest and I haven't read any of the rest of the Shadow Quest series but I was still able to follow along nicely due to how well Kiersten Fay wrote this. You also get an extended glimpse of a couple of her books. They are drawing you in because you have to find out what happens. What a wonderful short story.
This is a good short read that adds to the Shadow Quest series. Even though it's short, you still get caught up in all the emotions of the characters. It's one of the things I like most in all Kiersten Fay's writings!
It only took me about ten or fifteen minutes to read. I suggest reading at least the first two books of the Shadow Quest, since there is snippet in one of them regarding Aiden's mission to race in the Phase Nine.
This short story belongs to the Shadow Quest series. You need to have at least read those books to know some of the characters and why they were taking part in the race. This was a short, quick read. It got me intrigued enough to continue to read about the race. I always enjoy reading anything that Kiersten Fay writes.
Quick and short second chance romance story. Only odd thing was on my kindle the short story was done by 19% - the rest of the file was just an extended preview of A Wicked Hunger (which I tried a while back and didn't like anyway). I was pretty disappointed the story I wanted to read ended so fast.
Very short..short story :) I was confused because I thought this would be about Aidan...but maybe Ms. Fay has a plan for him down the line. .. looking forward to that. This short story is about 2 characters we have no investment into..but again I'm sure the author is setting us up :)
This first story is of two characters that made a misunderstanding and hurt blow out of control to finding love again. Then just a few except to get to know other stories. Good.
Short story. I didn't realise that this was short. I was just about to get into the race and the story was over. I hope a story is written about the race. Sounds like fun.
Loved this book!!!!!!!!!!!!! The surprise, heartache, and absolute breath taking love is amazing. I cannot wait to see what Kiersten sends our way next.
