Hakan/Severin

Rate this book
Books 11 & 12 of the USA Today Bestselling Series, Bayou Heat.

HAKAN
Hakan never apologizes for being a lethal, barely civilized Hunter, but he understands that he has to be careful when it comes to his future mate, Payton. The pretty young Geek captured his heart long ago, but he was forced to keep her at a distance until she was mature enough to handle his feral nature. When he discovers she’s been captured, however, he’s done waiting. It’s time to claim his female. Unfortunately, he didn’t anticipate that Payton might refuse the mating.

Payton understands that there’s nothing more important than discovering why their newest enemies are targeting the Pantera. And if that means putting herself in danger, then that’s exactly what she’s going to do, no matter what the arrogant Hakan might say. Of course, that’s easier said than done. Especially when Hakan is clearly determined to seduce her. Does she listen to her pride, or give in to the urgings of her fragile heart?

SÉVERIN
Humans have always been the enemy.

Séverin has lived the last ten years of his life in his puma form. He is feral, predatory and angry at the human world. Born in captivity, the male is haunted by years of torture and abuse. And when he comes upon a human female running scared through his Wildlands domain, he wants nothing more than to get her back to the border. But as she finds shelter with him in his rustic treehouse, the male inside him starts to emerge, threatening his still-caged heart.

Until he meets her.

Running from her abusive ex, Taylor is desperate for a place to hide. She believes her only chance at life is the magical Wildlands. But with a war brewing, the Pantera species aren’t too keen on letting a stranger into their fold. Luckily, there is one Pantera who might want the beautiful teacher to stay. A male who, like Taylor, is running scared. Can they both listen to their hearts and allow the first real love of their lives in?

I'm not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother's knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.

Years later (no, I'm not admitting how many) I'm still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!

I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.

Personal Overview

Hakan - 4.25 Stars

Hakan, a male Pantera Hunter, and Payton, a female Pantera Geek, have known for twenty years that they were mates.
One night twenty years before, Payton had recognized Hakan as her mate, (and secretly so had he), but his reaction was not what her expected since instead of acknowledging it and completing the mating bond, he had left, and she saw something that made her think he slept with another woman, betraying her. The next day he had left the Wildlands for a long period of time with no explanation.
Hakan made this hard decision of staying away from her for so long because he felt she needed time to grow to her full potential as a woman and as a shifter, and he was afraid with his more feral and dominant side would crush her.
The problem is soon no longer a issue when Hakan knows Payton was captured (or so he thought) by their enemy. Now he has to deals and fight to gain back the trust of the woman who feels she was betrayed and rejected in the cruelest of ways.
The animal inside her didn’t understand the meaning of betrayal. It only knew that this male was the most fascinating, gloriously sexy Pantera she’d ever met. And that the loss of his companionship had left a hole in her heart that refused to heal.

Although their attraction is undeniable, and Payton tries to futily fight it, it was not as simple as Hakan thought it would be. He was a bit of a jerk assuming that he would just come to her tell her she was his mate, and she would just immediately accept him. But even after he explains his reasons and clears all the misconceptions it's not easy for her to forget the pain she endured. He does try to point out multiple times his reasoning:
“You were just starting your studies and finding your place with your friends. If I had taken you as my mate you would never have become the female you are today.”
(...)
“Even though I loved you, I would have demanded your complete surrender. And you were too eager to please me to stand against my overbearing nature.”
(...)
“But you know you wouldn’t be this bold, confident female you are today if I’d taken you twenty years ago.”

I was deeply relieved and loved (as did Payton) that he was celibate during those twenty years, since that hasn't always bee the case in this series. So, for that his story earned major points, in my view. I loved that in his mind he was just binding his time until she was mature and confident enough in herself and established her role in their society.
“I’ve been wooing you for the past twenty years. You just didn’t know it.”

He didn't mind fighting to gain back her trust, because he knew her better than anyone else. Not even er knew that.
“Will you be mine, Payton?” he rasped. “I want to have you wrapped in my arms when we go to sleep, and standing at my side when we walk through the Wildlands.” He grabbed her hips, pressing her tight against his thickening cock. “I want you to grow round with my young and be angry when I get home late. I want to spoil you, and aggravate you, and love you until I take my last breath.”

Séverin - 4.5 Stars

Taylor is on the run from her abusive psychotic ex-boyfriend and is hopping to seek refuge in the Wildlands, but before she could reach her destiny, she comes across Séverin, a reclusive Pantera shifter, who lives isolated in a distant part of the bayou.
Séverin has spent the last ten years as a puma since it was his way of coping, after escaping from a long imprisonment as a lab experiment.
Both feel the instant connection and a kindred spirit towards the other, in a way they can't explain, and when they are separated, they realize they only have peace together.
She is gone.
A deep, feral snarl erupted from his throat and he turned slowly around. They took her from him.
His prize. She was his. He found her. She belonged to him. Her scent, her touch, made him feel good, comforted. She made him—
A male.
A sharp pain went through him as he padded out into the lush, wild lands once again. How had it happened? He hadn’t been male for many years. He didn’t want to be male. When he was male, bad things happened.
Yet he needed the woman.

Séverin was wonderful, even with everything that had happened to him, he still managed to open himself to her. We could really feel his effort and his frustration when he failed to achieve it, to show her what she made him feel.
“It’s how the Pantera males are. Rough and predatory and stubborn. But to their mates, they’re kittens. Ready to lick and play and please.”(Ashe to Taylor)

I was also impressed with Taylor, that after all the abuse she suffered through the hands of her ex, she was all in, but like she mentions on multiple occasions, she feel incredibly safe with him.
“I let someone take my body before and they abused it,” she explained. “I gave that same person my heart, and he crushed it. And trust?” She laughed without humor. “He shattered it.” (Taylor about her ex)

So two broken souls found their peace in the other, healing their wounds and opening themselves to a future together.
The humans he’d known in his long life had taken so much from him. And yet this one—this beautiful human with her open and understanding heart—had given it all back times a thousand. He couldn’t let her go. Wouldn’t.

It was truly a sweet read, and I loved Séverin, even with he spending most of the story as a puma, so no dialogue. His actions expressed everything that we needed to know.
“But I would not do that to you, Taylor.”
“What? Claim me?” Why not? Oh, god, I want you to. I want you more than anything.
He pulled her closer. “I too was used without my consent. Without choice. It won’t be that way with us. No claiming.”
This time, Taylor calmed and listened to him. What he was saying. What he wished for.
“I would ask that you stay with me,” he said, his eyes bright and hungry. “I would ask if you would love me. I would ask that you allow me to care for you and any cubs we may have.” He grinned at that. “I ask, Taylor.”

4.5 stars (I just cannot give 5 whole stars to novellas).

I loved, loved, LOVED these stories! By far the best of the series!

Hakan met his mate years ago, when she was a kid. Her crush turned into love, but she was not ready, He was/is a domineering alpha. He knew with her desire to please him, that he would crush her spirit and she would never be the woman she should. So he walked away. Letting her think some terrible things to make sure she stayed away. Not my favorite plot, but it worked. I understood, believed him and forgave him. More importantly, she did too. It helped that Yes, 20 years is a long time, but not in the life of a Pantera. So we humans have to not get too upset it was so long in. Human years. Payton was in danger, so all bets were off! She did not forgive immediately, thank goodness! But she did not push him away for the sake of it either. I was ok with the reunion. He did something special that made me sigh. So sweet! This story had romance, sizzle and a lot of important things happened in the overall story. It is exactly what I have been waiting for since the first book!

Severin escaped a testing facility 10 years ago and has been locked in his Puma ever since. He lives in a tree. Literally, inside the hollowed out trunk of a tree. Taylor is running from an ex her abused her physically and emotionally. She runs straight into the Puma. There is a connection, but he is confused because all humans have ever done to him is hurt him. They spend a lot of time together with him as a Puma. Taylor never judged him. She accepted him as he was, treehouse and all. It was actually sweet. It was not weird. But being with her allows him to try to be a human male again. Not without some issues, but he does it for her. The dinner at Rafael and Ashe's house was so funny! Anyway, I thought their relationship was so sweet and special. Two damaged souls coming together. And agin, more big stuff happens in the overall story!

Now I am really excited for the next book and hope these authors keep it up!

Safety gang safe.

Rating~ 3.5 stars.

This is the 11th and 12th book compilation in the Bayou heat series. These are very short stories that follow different couples through the events plaguing the bayou. I just wish they would be slightly longer but I did enjoy the book.

Again, the rating is for erotic fluff. A nice break.

This one was harder to rate because I really like Severin but not so much Hakan. Mainly I was bored with Hakan and thought he did something really stupid. And then Payton, if she is going to forgive and give into sex, just holds him off out of spite. The ending was good.

Severin was better because he is damaged to the point of hiding in his puma. Taylor need rescuing which helps him heal. The over arch here gets pretty good with more information on the facility burning down and who these people are.

The over arcs move pretty slowly, but the relationship move really fast. Pretty good erotic short stories.

First we have a hero who thought the heroine was too young to mate before, but where Nalini Singh wrote a hero deciding this she has him constantly around his heroine, talking to her, bringing her gifts, ..., here the hero has been avoiding her for 20 years. And then one day he decides she's strong enough. And he doesn't understand why she's not ready to jump into a mating with him. Idiot.

In the second novella we have insta-love but the hero has been tortured for years and after escaping he's been in his pantera's form to the point nobody knows what he looks like. He has PTSD and getting intimate with the heroine is difficult. As usual everything happens in 2 or 3 days at most but at least it was different from the other novellas.

The plot progresses slightly and at this point I'd really like less sex scenes and more plot.

~ 4 Hakan/Séverin Stars ~

Hakan/Séverin are book 11 & 12 in the Bayou Heat series. This series follows different couples and the events that plague them. Shakpi's curse is gone now and the humans have found out about the Pantera. A new and dangerous enemy has emerged and it wants the Pantera.

Individual reviews on each story below:

Hakan
By Alexandra Ivy

- 4 Stars -

Hakan & Payton are mates. Yep, he spurned her for her own good. Hakan is a very dominate Pantera. He needs a women who is sure of herself and enjoys his dominant nature. Payton at the time was a teenager, so she needed to grow into the women that she is. The sex is hot and steamy. I enjoyed that he had to woo her, seduce her heat back into caring for him. It was sweet! Holly hell in a hand basket the epilogue. Oh my god!

Séverin
By Laura Wright

- 4 Stars -

Taylor, human and running from her ex. Wants a safe haven in the Wildlands. Séverin, Pantera and spends his time as an animal, because he was imprisoned. We only get a little bit on what happened to him. He does not want to feel, but "her scent, her touch, made him feel good and comfortable. She made him a male". I wasn’t sure how Taylor would fit into the plot, but we find out. We also learn why this new and dangerous enemy wants the Pantera.

I have enjoyed each installment in the Bayou Heat series. They are fun, sexy, sweet, and romantic short reads. This series is designed to be read in order.

Hakan - Alexandra Ivy - 3/5 - Pantera are still dealing with the mystery of Stanton Locke and whatever he is up to experimenting on Pantera...especially now that he’s got his hands on Hiss. After the death of Mercier, Hakan questions Parish about his death and learns that another female Pantera, Payton, has gone missing and was maybe captured while seeking information at the Haymore Center. Hakan freaks because Payton is the woman who is supposed to be his mate, although he rejected her cruelly because of her youth 20 years earlier. Now that she’s in danger, he’s done waiting and heads off to rescue her and claim her. Except Payton isn’t quite ready to accept Hakan just because he’s suddenly ready.

Larger plot arc is getting interesting with what’s going on with Hiss. This is far more interesting than the whole Shakpi plotline. I wasn’t a huge fan of Hakan and his arrogance in assuming that he wouldn’t have to work to get Payton back. He broke her heart “in her own best interests” since apparently she wasn’t yet mature enough for a mating. But I kind of agree...did he have to do it cruelly? Without talking to her and making it clear that she needed to wait? Did he need to wait 20 years? And if yes to all of those, did he approach her acting as though he understood what he’d done to her or with any remorse whatsoever? No, not really. He only really feels the remorse when he realizes that his prior actions might ruin his plans to have her where he wants her. I didn’t care for that. I did like that Payton wasn’t willing to give in so easily and did make him suffer for a bit, but in the end, she really did give in too easily.

Severin - Laura Wright - 4/5 - Severin came to the Wildlands 10 years ago and has been in his puma form ever since...no one even knows what his human form looks like. Taylor is escaping her abusive and possessive ex and runs to the wildlands for protection. Severin is the first pantera she encounters and, instead of pushing her back over the boundary like he should, Severin takes her into his den and protects her. For Taylor, Severin comes out of his shell and takes human form again, and reveals that he had been held prisoner in the Haymore clinic, part of their breeding program. But Taylor is afraid that Severin won’t want her once her ex, who worked for the Haymore clinic, has brought all those horrific memories back to Severin.

I liked this. It broke the formula I hadn’t even realized had been developing and it was a refreshing change of pace. You’ve still got a forwarding of the Stanton Locke plot, but only insomuch as Severin is able to recount his experience and they can better understand what the guy is after. Taylor and Severin were also a really cute couple. Severin is a completely different personality than we’re used to in this series, as he’s charming, sensitive and not full of complete and total arrogance...but he’s still badass. He’s really focused on making sure that Taylor wants what he’s giving her and I like that a lot. They’re love felt a little rushed, more like they had a lot of lust, a mating urge and a lot of common ground and understanding, but they definitely didn’t know each other well enough for me to think they were in love the old-fashioned way. But that didn’t detract from the story too much.

This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Two short stories that while are entertaining they are both pretty short and the second one ends fairly abruptly. A little forward momentum with the clinic so that was nice. Overall good stories but not ones that I will remember next week.

I wasn't expecting that ending in Hakan's story. Severin's story was so sad with everything he'd been through. When he described the person whom he had been held captive with I instantly knew who the person was. I'm happy that all of the stories end well. I'll continue reading the series.

I haven't finished the audiobook yet.

Hakan's story (#11 in the Bayou Heat series) finishes at 2hrs 29mins into the audiobook and ends on a cliffhanger which kind of sucks.

Severin's story (#12) picks up from there (his story is slightly shorter - 2hrs 6 mins)

REVIEW: HAKAN is the eleventh novella in the Bayou Heat paranormal romance series. Written by Alexandra Ivy, HAKAN focuses on Pantera Hunter Hakan as he is pushed to his limits when his unclaimed mate Payton places herself in danger as she attempts to download encrypted information from the computers located at a facility where a number of Pantera shifters have previously been held captive and tortured.

HAKAN is a storyline where two Pantera shifters know they are one another’s mates but twenty years have passed without Hakan claiming Payton or letting his feelings known. It is only when Payton risks everything for the secreted files does Hakan realize it is time to claim his wayward mate.

Alexandra Ivy continues to engage the reader with her up close and personal accounts of the Pantera shifters of New Orleans. The Bayou Heat series is a wonderfully enchanting series about a species on the brink of extinction, whose hope blooms with the birth of the next generation.

"Bayou Heat: Hakan - Severin" by Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright. Books 11 & 12 in the Bayou Heat series.

I am loving this novella series! Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright have created a world of large-cat shifters, the Pantera, that you can't help but fall in love with. The female characters are just as strong and intriguing as the alpha male characters. Each novella flows into the next seamlessly.

The first story is Hakan by Alexandra Ivy.

Payton is a Geek for the Pantera. Her computer skills are a great value to the community and now she's going to use those skills to help the Pantera find out why Pantera females have been kidnapped by a human named Stanton Locke. When she gets captured, it's exactly what she wants, giving her time to break into the computer system to download files with information that can help. The last thing she expects is to be "rescued" by the last person she wants to see...Hakan. He broke her heart 20 years ago and now he thinks he can just come back and claim her? Well, he has another think coming!

Hakan is a Hunter for the Pantera. The moment he learns that Payton is in trouble, he has to rescue her. He's feels terrible about what happened between them 20 years ago and he'll do anything he can to make up for it. Payton was too young to claim back then, but now she's grown into a beautiful, independent, strong-willed woman. The perfect mate to stand up to him and put him in his place.

As Payton and Hakan work together to solve the mystery of the missing female Pantera, they also find out that Hiss, a fellow Pantera male, has been kidnapped by Stanton Locke right before he was to be questioned about his betrayal to the Pantera.

This story ends with a very exciting cliffhanger and a shocking revelation for Hiss about his family. (He is part of the overall new storyline for the series.) The storyline is face paced and gets right down to the details needed to further along the overall new storyline that started in the last novella "Roch."

The second story is Severin by Laura Wright.

In this story, we meet Taylor, a human woman running for her life from her ex boyfriend that won't take no for an answer. She runs to the Wildlands hoping that she can find refuge with the Pantera. When a puma literally knocks her over, she pleads her case but he won't turn human to speak with her. She needs to speak with the leader of the Pantera, Raphael. Surely he can help her and keep her safe. But she can't deny that she feels safest with this mysterious puma. When she does see him shift into a human and tells the other Panteras, they can't believe her. Because Severin hasn't shifted since he's come back to the Wildlands...in 10 years.

Severin can't explain why Taylor is so appealing to him. He hates all humans since he was kept prisoner by them and abused mentally and physically. He needs to stay a puma. He's safe as his puma. No one can hurt him when he's a puma. But with Taylor, he needs to be a human male. When she tells him of her past, he can't help but feel protective of her. But can he overcome his own past to be happy with a human woman? Does he even deserve to be happy?

This story was so well written! You could really feel the emotional struggle both Taylor and Severin have to deal with regarding both their pasts. As the love story progresses between Taylor and Severin, more information is revealed regarding the overall series plot. Why the Pantera males and females are being taken and why human females are being impregnated with Pantera sperm. No real cliffhanger ending in this one but you are left wondering what is going to happen with the overall series plot.

Overall Comments

I really really loved these two novellas! The imagery and descriptions in both were so vivid and beautiful. You can't help but fall in love with all the characters. The chemistry between the couples, Payton and Hakan, Severin and Taylor, is off the charts HOT HOT HOT! I'm loving the new series plot and can't wait to find out what is happening with Hiss and his family! I can't wait to read the next one! Bring on more Pantera!

So This series is AMAZING!!! I have been in a paranormal funk lately not wanting to even touch a paranormal book because I read SO many for so long, but this series...I make time to read this series because not only is it an amazing series but the co-writing between Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright is just so flawless it's like you're not reading something from two different authors.

Hakan
by Alexandra Ivy
5 stars
In Hakan we learn a little more about the Clinic and what is going on there...we also see the relationship between Payton and Hakan go from ice cold to volcano in a matter of minutes. Payton was hurt 20 years ago when she told Hakan he was her mate...he walked away and stayed away for 20 years. So now Payton "hates" Hakan but when they are alone tempers and passion flair and Payton can no longer fool herself into thinking she hates Hakan anymore.
Hakan regrets hurting Payton so long ago and when he finds out she has been captured and held in the clinic all thoughts and reason for staying away vanish and he sets out to find and claim his mate.

We also see a little more about Hiss (and he...I cannot WAIT to read Hiss's book)...Hiss has always known in his heart that his family wasn't killed and now he wants answers but while trying to get answers he finds himself in the mercy of the very man who may well have taken his family. There is a surprise in the Epilogue with Hiss...I won't give it away but it will be interesting to see how Hiss's story turns out.

Séverin
by Laura Wright
4.5 stars
Although I did LOVE Séverin's story...I loved Hakan's more.
Séverin had such a horrible past being captive at the Clinic and then he found refuge in the Wildlands but refused to come out of his puma state.
Taylor was a captive in her own right and neither one knew just how close to one another they had actually been. Taylor's ex Edgar works for Locke in the Clinic...where oddly enough is where Séverin was poked and prodded for who knows how long until he was able to escape.

When Séverin finds Taylor he is untamed and most definitely wild...unable to or just not wanting to shift. Taylor brings him out of his wild state and gives him something he never thought he would find.

By the end we still don't know who Locke really is or who he is working for. We know little about Christopher and even less about what they want with Hiss but we are also left anticipating what will happen next.

These two have once again given us an amazing book with Hakan/Séverin and I cannot wait until the next installment comes out!

Bought and read years previously but review I posted from the back of the book is missing.
Do not be expecting a full on, complete characterisation and in-depth series. You will not get it. This is not a deep and fully developed world, you glean bits and pieces as you go along, getting to know more characters and situation as things happen. Each story is a follow on, sometimes with a cliff hanger. So I suggest starting at the beginning to best understand the who’s and what’s of this world.
But it is a fun and intriguing series of short stories that slowly develop into a great read.
11 - HAKAN
Hakan broke Payton’s young heart 20 years ago by ignoring her when she confessed her love. He had sensible reasons due to her age but was a bit cruel about it.
Finding that Payton is missing on a mission, Hakan decides the time has come to claim her, except Payton is not on the same page.
Sweet enough story but as always just too short to do this series justice.
No background on these characters so we know very little about any of them.
More problems for the Pantera with Hiss once again in the midst of things. Glad to know he was right about the elders lying but not sure how this will play out with where he is imprisoned now.
12 - SEVERIN
What an interesting story this was. Felt so sorry for what Severin had been through.
Can’t say I liked Taylor using the Wildlands and the Pantera for protection but I did love that Severin was able to rejoin the other Pantera and give them information.

HAKAN:
Hakan he's a little erm...possessive, "he snarled at the soft taunt. Now that his possessive urges have been unleashed, the mere though of another Pantera offering his protection to this female made a red mist cloud his brain." I totally don't blame Payton for getting distracted while Hakan's around, "were there-" She forgot how to speak as his jeans dropped to reveal the large thrust of his c*** that was fully erect." She tries to be subtle when giving compliments, "I think your head is big enough," she said, her attention lowering to his c*** that instantly hardened beneath her gaze. "Along with other parts of your body."
SEVERIN:
Let me start off by saying that Severin is the most animal in this series and that is why he happens to be my favorite. I loved how Taylor felt so safe with him even if he couldn't really shift into his human form, "in fact," she added. "I haven't felt that safe in a long time." She smiled shyly at him. "Even waking up next to all the naked male flesh." A rumble of pleasure moved through Severin's chest. No, she didn't fear him." I loved how he wanted to mate with he right off, "his mouth on her ear. "The need to bite you, hold you still, hold you in place while I eff you," he growled. "Is so strong." I really can't wait to see what two Pantera's are next for the series.

Hakan and Séverin are books eleven and twelve in the Bayou Heat series. Unlike other series, these books cannot be read as stand alone stories. The two short stories are more like individual chapters of a much larger book.

I like the series and the story. Each tells of a Pantera male who finds their mate, while expanding the ongoing story of these puma shifters fighting the humans, their deities and at times some of their own for their very survival.

Hakan has been a very patient male, he's done the right thing and waited twenty years to finally claim his mate Payton. After being rejected by Hakan, Payton's human half wants to make him suffer and earn her, while her puma half recognizes its chosen mate and is ready to be claimed. What's a female to do? Love him, or leave him?

After finally escaping his human captors, Séverin has lived only as a puma for the last ten years. Until Taylor finds herself deep in the Bayou looking for the one place she hopes will offer her some protection from her abusive ex. In the Wildlands of the puma shifters. Two abused, and broken people, who can each help the other heal.

Start at the beginning, and catch the whole story, it's worth the read.

Hakan and Payton book 11

Hakan has kept Payton at arms length waiting for her to mature enough to mate with her (20 years!) but hearing she is missing sends him on a quest to find her.

Hakan is sexy in the extreme and he and Payton set the pages on fire. She's resentful that he rejected her when she was young and though he explains why he did what he did, she doesn't want to just fall into his arms.

Payton annoyed me a bit with her game playing, she was purposely trying to punish Haka and though she did eventually give in it didn't endear her to me.

The story progression is good, with more information about the sinister fertility clinic revealed.

Severin and Taylor book 12

Severin was abused at the clinic for years before escaping and now lives in his puma shape. Taylor (a human) is running from an abusive ex and is discovered by Severin who protects her. Both are drawn to each other and feel safe together.

I liked both of them and there is more information about the clinic and what the enemies are after. But the story was just too short and ended abruptly.

1) Hakan is a guy who acts first and thinks later. When he finds out that Payton, whom he'd known since a young girl, is a prisoner at the Haymore Center he hurries off to rescue her. Fortunately Payton is smart and rational enough to handle him. Payton & Hakan’s history together is interesting, though I would wanted a lot more apologizing before I killed him. And Hiss get a new ‘friend’.

2) Se’veran: I loved this one. It’s is so different from the others since Se’veran is feral and lives in a tree. It’s like a Tarzan & Jane story if Tarzan was a shapeshifter. At the end, even though I knew it was just a misunderstanding, I still was crying so hard I couldn't see to read.

Quick Thoughts: 1)’Why does it always have to be ducts?’ LOL

Fave Scenes: 1) Payton putting Hakan in his place at the center and at the safehouse.

2) The patrol and Ashe’s dinner party.

As with all books in this series....they need to be longer!!!! Thankfully there are more books to keep reading though, so that is a saving grace.

Hakan's story was a bit anti-climatic in the sense that you knew these two had a history and it was only a matter of time. I liked how the heroine stood her ground and made Hakan suffer a bit before ultimately giving in to her own desires.

Severin's story was interesting. The fact that he had only been in his puma state for over 10 years, made you realize that you can fall for someone based on the way they treat you over their outside appearance. Of course it can't hurt that when he did finally shift to his male state, he was another gorgeously tall make, LOL. I love when we get to have dialogue with previous H/H's and the dinner party at Ashe and Raphael's house was an awesome little nugget of fun to read!

I enjoyed this book. I liked Haken's story better though. It had a much better enjoyable storyline. He and Payton were very hot. Severin, Eh, he could have had more character development. I was very intrigued by him and wanted to find out more and what he endured at the lab. At least we are getting closer to what's really going on. We got more information about Reny and Mr. Locke seems like he's going to be a formidable bad guy. Taylor, another Eh. I mean she was THERE when Sev said that Reny was just his friend and wouldn't have sex with her when they were at the lab, yet she still got mad and run when they had the reunion. Seriously girl? I thought that end was uncalled for. I guess they wanted to make some angst before they ended the book. But other than that, I enjoyed this and glad we are getting more information on what's going on.

I've been waiting for this book since the last one and it was worth the wait. The story is fascinating and the plot pulls you into the lives of the Pantera. You ask that eternal question of why do you hate what you don't understand or what gives anyone the right to abuse anyone.  The writers have written a story that will have you not only investing you time but your emotions.  Each of these double books flow seamlessly into each other but you always get an HEA from each one.  And they each leave you with something that happens that make you want to find out what is going to happen next.  I am a huge fan of this series...excellent job...Enjoy, I did!  Now I'm waiting for #12 & #13, lol.

This book is a great continuation of the series. I loved how she tried to make Hakan suffer but couldn't resist him. I also love how some of the mysteries are becoming clearer and I really liked the surprise at the end of the first one.
The second one had a bit of a darker side to it that the characters have to get past in order for them to get on with their lives. I loved it, I loved the happy reunion in the end.
Both of these left me needing the next book in the series. I can't wait to read it. I recommend this series to anyone who loves paranormal romance with shifters that make you swoon.

As I've come to expect from these two amazing authors and, more specifically, the Bayou Heat series that they have created together, another great addition! I love the characters - even when I may dislike one's actions, I always end up loving them. Hot, sexy alpha males do it for me each and every time. Add in their magical nature, living in the heated swamps of the Louisiana Bayou with humans surrounding them and a traitor from within and you have an amazing story - and always HOT. H. O. T. Highly recommend! =)

Back into the Bayou with some sexy shifters we go! These books never disappoint with their alpha males and strong females. Sexy as hell, and always adorable! ^_^
Same as before, the only thing stopping it from being a 5 star review is the length (and yes I know its a novella), however, Ivy's book goes for what seems like 50%, Wrights book length is 30% and the last 20% is preview chapters of the other books.

Again, I bet you know what I'm going to say? Yes, that's right, I would have liked to have had full-length novels instead of the short stories. Just when I'm ready to delve into a hundred pages or so, the story ends. *sigh*

Both authors write very good stories that just take you by the shirt collar and drag you into the Pantera world. I can't wait to read the next installment to see where we're going to be led.

more matings for the Pantera....plus more unfolding of an insidious plot by humans to breed panteras for their blood which acts as a fountain of youth for humans...although each story is stand alone it flows a story arc. I'm really curious about the role of the elders in the disappearance of various pantera into human hands....

I didn't enjoy Hakan, I found that Payton should have got more from Hakan than she did, whether more of an apology or begging. I just felt as though I couldn't believe she would forgive him so quickly and easily.

I much preferred Severin, it was a more fun and enjoyable read that I didn't have any problems with and still found carried on the overall storyline.

I loved the stories... especially Severin's. My only complaint is that they were too short. Are they getting shorter or is it my imagination? lol When we didn't have to wait very long for them it wasn't so bad I guess, but it has gone it gets longer and longer between these novellas...and its killing me! lol *sigh*
