A storm is brewing. All should take shelter from her wrath.
Darkness swells around Sylvia as she fights to survive in the dangerous world of vampires and ghouls. The vicious Lightbringers interrupted the ceremony that would have allowed her to join her lover as a vampire. Their only option was to flee, but in doing so, her lover Altyr was thrown into a wakeless slumber.
Alone, Sylvia must cling to hope that their bonded fate will be strong enough to pull them through the mystical dark fog hanging over both of them. Every day, the darkness grows stronger, bringing her closer to becoming a ghoulish hollow as the dark infection spreads. The strength of their love is the only thing keeping them alive.
Magical shadows whisper forbidden words of warning in her mind, telling her to embrace the darkness. If she does, she may lose Altyr forever. If she doesn’t, she may not be able to stop the coming war.
Revenge of the Forgotten is book 2 of The Hollowed War.
Right off the bat we are hit with a plot twist from the past that will make your heart break. You are then thrown into a fast paced journey for the FMC to control her darkness while trying to awaken the MMC from his dark slumber.
You will laugh from the banter and cry from the… well that’s a spoiler now isn’t it.
Strong start, better finish. I am very curious on where the road will lead. Pacing was well balanced. I was fully engrossed by the read.
The world building is fascinating. I do like that some questions about it were answered, however there are so many more left! I do want to see where it goes.
Plot wasn't dragging, pacing kept me from getting bored and demanding action, and the climax of action had the tension to keep the pages turning!
The spice had a good balance too.Not so often I was tempted to skip ahead or roll my eyes. They aren't as lengthy as some I've read, but still just as compelling.
Now to the true core. The character development is supurb. The main couple have come a very long way since the beginning. They do not have the insta love or the instant connection many books use. These two have had a very rough journey. The chemistry is growing and I love where it is going.
So, just like the first book, this is a 5* for me. The plot is intriguing, the characters are likeable. There is a redemption arc, a new villain, and spice. I am still LOVING Orrin, but Altyr is growing on me. Lydia is probably my favorite character we've been introduced to thus far, she's feisty and knows who she is. We are finally getting to see Sylvia grow into her own, personality and powers wise.
P.S. I am heavily anticipating the demise of Bazak...like the cretin he is.
I loved this one just as much as the first one. I do feel like it shouldn't have taken half of the book to fix her issue.
I feel like her overwhelming darkness issue was a bit drawn out. I am over the moon that they are back together, but I feel like everything really happens in the last quarter of book. The first half was build up, but could have been shorter. Still a great story and I am excited to see what happens next.
The second book in this series was a great continuation of the story. You learn more about the light and the dark forces and how the vampires realms and rules work. Having said that, it was a lot of background information so the story didn't advance as well as it could have. I still love the characters and you learn a lot more about each one. I'm excited to see what happens with the next book.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this dark vampire love story, where the white-light hunters try to take out the vampires however the long lost wife of a controlling vampire seeks revenge only to end with a cliffhanger. Be prepared to be sucked in.
Sylvia and Altyr story is addicting. I thought this was a duet so I didn't know I'd be waiting on the next book my fault completely. But I can not wait for it to come out.
The story, chemistry, slight dependency between MCs, and just over all detail of the story is good.
Stacy Stover took advice from the suriel and started this book off with some piping hot tea that had me throwing guess of how the book would play out and tested myself control to not skip work to read the whole book at once.
She then proceeded to torture me as much needed tid-bits of information and further world and character development trickled in as I not so patiently waited for what the big wtf/climax moment would be. I was not disappointed. Nothing better than seeing a developing badass go off. I am still intreeged with this form of a magic system and can’t wait to see what information comes out of our characters stepping into the lions den come book 3.
Update: I intended for a skim through which turned into pretty much a read though. I forgot how much was packed into this book. Each page is full of some new tid-bit of information or event occurring. I am still just as excited for what twists and turns will come in book 3
