The Wolvers #3

The Alpha's Daughter

Rate this book
There is a balm in Gilead, to heal the wounded soul…

Jazz Phillips is on the run, fleeing from a fate most females in her pack accept as their lot in life; an arranged mating, something Jazz thought wasn't in her future as the Alpha's daughter and only child. She doesn't want to be the next Alpha's Mate. She doesn't want to be anyone's mate. She likes her life just the way it is until she finds herself stranded in the mountain town of Gilead, home to a small and close knit pack of wolvers. Once there, she begins to question her life as it was and begins to wonder about what it could be, especially in the arms of the wolver the people call Doc.

Doc Goodman claims to have settled in Gilead because he saw a need for his services, but in fact, he's a runaway, too. He's rejected his wolver heritage and the warring politics that stripped him of everything he loved most. He's biding his time, waiting to die, until he meets the blue haired, foul mouthed beauty who shows him there are still things worth living for and the most important of them are worth fighting for.

I am always looking for a new author to read and when this book was suggested to me, I researched the author and her titles available. The Alpha's Daughter (The Wolvers) had 12 reviews with a 5-star rating. The book was rated almost completely 5s! Not completely unheard of, but certainly quite a statement! Upon reading other reviews, I got the gist of the story and realized that this was the third book in a trilogy. One reviewer stated that this book could stand alone and so I took a chance. (Thank you, Reviewer!)

I am so glad I did. When I love a book, I simply cannot put it down and I read all night long.

At the beginning of the story, I wondered if this would be another "mean alpha makes daughter mate" book. I have read many of those and they can be entertaining, but also boring and redundant. The beginning of Jazz's story served a purpose by letting the reader know where she came from and gave us a glimpse into her psyche. Yes, just a glimpse and that is what I loved about this story. Every time I thought I knew where the story was going, the author unfolded another facet to each of the characters in such a loving way.

The Alpha's Daughter is a paranormal story with the violence, sex and shifter culture included that we come to expect from the paranormal genre. The characters are well-developed and the supporting cast makes you chuckle, grit your teeth and love them alternately. Many authors are challenged by creating a community of characters. Ms. Rhoades isn't one of them. The characters are well-thought out and exist to enrich the story of Griz and Jazz. With her words, I could really imagine the smell of the pigs from the back porch! I could see myself walking down the lane to the neighbor's house. I was touched by the love between the elderly Alpha pair.

What makes this amazingly priced title unique is that at some point you realize it is also true romance. Yes, an edgy paranormal romance. I fell in love with the characters and had such closure with the storyline. Ms. Rhoades provided a well-developed story line that reached out and hooked me! I plan to go back and read the first two in the trilogy.

If I had to make a critical statement, it would be that there was only one point in the book that was awkward for me. A few pages where Jazz is worried about what is going to happen in her relationship with Griz. The stylistic way the author wrote those few pages where she was having an inner debate with herself was a little difficult to follow at first until I realized what was going on. I don't know if it was me, the late hour or that the dialogue could have been written just a little bit differently. Regardless, it did not detract from the story and was not enough for me to lower the rating.

I read for pleasure and when an author can make me laugh, love and hate all in the same book, it is a good day. Or, perhaps in this case, an excellent purchase.

One of my all time favourite shifter books. The heroine is the star of the book. At first, she's seemed to be just another foul mouthed big head, but it's a protective façade. She's lovely, so caring and kind to the super grumpy H. He's a healer, trying to atone for past mistakes. I really like the acts of service embedded in the story, and the love within the pack.

Jazz Phillips is the daughter of a powerful Alpha who exerts complete control over his pack. It's become a bone of contention that her father has no heir and demands Jazz mate and have pups to keep their family legacy alive. Jazz doesn't want to be anyone's mate and goes rogue when a forced mating becomes imminent.

Doc Goodman, a shifter with a murky past, has settled in as the MD for the Gilead pack but makes it known he wants to be left alone. When a runaway female lands up in Gilead without any money, clothes, or transportation he agrees to provide a temporary place for her to stay. Little does he realize Jazz is looking to live in a place like Gilead and has no intention of making her stay temporary.

Gilead is a dying town with a dying Alpha who need fresh young blood to join the pack. Jazz may be just what the town, and one grumpy grizzly bear wolf, need to have a chance at surviving. It will take a lot of luck and skill to revitalize the town and find a new Alpha before it's too late.

This was a standalone read that didn't need twists & turns or over the top adult content erotica to work. It's a story that flowed in a suspense filled manner pulling the reader in as events played out. The world building and cast of characters worked very well to give added depth and realism while the romance aspects provided the heat that had me screaming at my e reader because these two were so perfect for each other yet wouldn't seal the deal on their relationship.

The core of this story does revolve around Doc & Jazz but encompasses so much more. Jazz is a strong female who has grown up in a pack where violence and strength are necessary to survive. It's made her who she is and that's not all good. Doc has many ghosts in his closet and has isolated himself emotionally and physically. Each undergo major changes that bring a whole new set of issues. Sort of like a domino effect. Obviously there's a HEA ending but how they get there is much more important. And yes that does require you to have a box of tissues handy.

This is the first book I've read by this author and it has totally impressed me. I might say that it's in the top five best books I've ever read in the paranormal erotic romance category. Yes, it's that good and I am adding this author to my stalking list of authors to follow.

Although all of the Wolver novels are tied together in a series, and rightfully so, I love the fact that each book has a completely unique story. Each is brilliant in its own right, but this one is my favourite so far. It’s more intense than its predecessors. At the same time, it still has the romance and heartfelt feelings that come so naturally to Rhoades.

With this novel Rhoades uses her phenomenal storytelling skills to turn a backwater town into a place where you want to go live. I feel like I was there in person rather than just reading about it. She evokes emotions in the reader in a way that is rarely seen. In less than a chapter I went from sitting on the edge of my seat scared, to crying, to laughing out loud. It was brilliant.

Rhoades goes much more in depth regarding what being a Wolver means. She also shows the difference between the different types of packs and of Wolvers. Not only does this immerse you further and further into this phenomenal world, but it also brings you closer to the character. You really get to understand who these people are, where they come from, and where they’re going. Not only that, but the characters are fundamentally well developed as individuals as well. I appreciate the fact that although not everyone is a main character, no one is unimportant. The sense of acceptance and love between the characters is beyond words.

With all of the building that Rhoades has done on Wolver culture and practices, it definitely leaves me wondering what she has planned for the next instalment in the series. Since these books keep getting better and better, I can’t wait!

Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Two broken souls can make a whole, or at least mend each other. I found this book equally heartbreaking and entrancing. The writing just flowed and the story kept you turning the pages. As much a character study as a tale, I really like the wolvers of Gilead.

Jazz is on the run from her controlling and uncaring father and his misogynist pack life. As usual Eugene Begley sticks his'matchmaking' oar in and helps Jazz's escape. She ends up stuck in an out of the way practically nothing town called Gilead. Forced to stay on the charity of Doc Goodman, because of her stuff getting stolen, she makes due with circumstances as they are. Doc, however, isn't nearly so 'delighted' with having his untidy grumpy life turned upside down. Between Jazz's insecurities hidden behind much bravado and Doc's insensitive knee jerk bluster, it's a wonder they ever got to the romance part. But it was fun reading about it!!The side characters are interesting too without stealing too much time from the MCs. I liked too, that the characters aren't all perfect and beautiful. It was more about their charisma.
I did find the ending to be overly drawn out and kinda schmaltzy. I feel weird saying that, because usually I am complaining about the opposite. Plus I wish Doc had had a quarter of the nice things to say about Jazz that she did about him. But I guess that is in keeping with his taciturn nature. You treasure the few glimpses of what he really thinks of her and sees in her. Overall I enjoyed it quite a bit and loved the epilogue. Nothing better than a taste of future day-to-day life in the HEA of the MCs!
Looking forward to the next couple books in the series!

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!!

The cover definitely says Jazz :) and the wolf gets my attention :)

I’m loving this series even more with each book. I bought this last year and finally have read it. This story is about the Doctor of the Goodman brothers and Jazz :) Jazz is fierce, and she starts the book as an island who has to fight for everything. She has no idea that some Wolver packs operate different than her father’s pack. It is an awesome journey learning about Jazz and seeing her grow and change. She is such a fierce alpha female, but she is also awesome solving problems. Then there is Doc who cares, but doesn’t want to get too involved. He is so growly that he is always compared to a bear by Jazz which I find very amusing. I definitely laughed, fumed, and cried with the characters. There are so many awesome characters in this series and so many possibilities for more books :)

Jackie does a great job with her details and descriptions to get you sucked into the lives of the characters. Her writing style is easy to read and relate. She is really nice too :) I’m going to have to look into her Guardians of the Race series in the future :)

I highly recommend this series to my wolf lovin’ shifter book fiends out there. I have already bought the next 2 books in this series which I’m off to read the next one now. :)

The enigmatic Ed Begley is playing matchmaker again.

Jazz is running away from her abusive father because he's going to mate her to the strongest bidder. Ed Begley (a character seen before in the series) warns her and tells her to stop in Gilead and look up Doc Goodman for a pit stop. Jazz becomes stranded in Gilead. Jazz ends up staying with Doc, whom she has nicknamed Griz for his hairy, bear-like appearance.

Their dislike for each other begins to take a U-turn, and Jazz starts to feel at home with the Gilead pack.

But what will happen when Jazz's past catches up to her?
###
This book is unusual in that it's told entirely from Jazz's 3rd person POV. You do get a good sense of what Griz is thinking and feeling, however.

There is lots of heartbreak in THE ALPHA'S DAUGHTER. But it's balanced by Jazz's humor and craziness. She might have a filthy mouth, but she has a "marshmallow" heart. As far as Griz, well, he's as honorable as they come.

The book comes to a satisfying, heart-warming conclusion that you'll appreciate and enjoy.

Happy reading!

Review posted on Audible https://www.audible.com/listener/A1ML...

I am really enjoying this story so much. I listened to the first two and I thought they were wonderfully written. The third book is my favorite thus far. I enjoyed the differences that author Jacqueline Rhoades did with her stories compared to other shifter stories I've listened to. I especially LOVE bears in shifter stories and this made it very easy for me to love The Alpha's Daughter. I really hope the author writes more Wolvers stories. The characters are so loveable.
The narrator did a great job as well. Holly Adams brought this story to life. I especially liked all the spark and mouthiness she gave one of the main characters, Jazz Phillips. She was fun to listen to, the narrator made the whole story, fun and leaving me begging for more. I highly recommend this story and the first two as well.

I received an ARc of this book in exchange for an honest review.ore of her books.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I can say without hesitation that I'll definitely be reading more.

The Alpha's Daughter is the 3rd book in the Wolvers Series but each book has it's own unique story and can be read as a stand alone. If you enjoy reading erotic paranormal romance where the author pulls you into the story and doesn't let you go until the very end, then The Alpha's Daughter is the book for you.

I really love this author. She is not afraid to get in there and get mean and dirty. I can see, smell and feel the emotions she is writing about. Griz and Jazz, oh how I loved them. The first 2 books in this series I enjoyed, but this third book was something special. I LOVED IT!

This book is my favorite of the series with one smart mouth sassy lady who can kick some tail with her hands behind her back. This is full of action as Jazz is put to the test to find her strength and her place in the world. There is nothing better or stronger than a father’s love but when that father is evil and thinks you are good for nothing but matting to better his pack as he puts you up for sale to the highest bidder is so wrong. Jazz will not stand for it as she goes on the run for her life she is sure if her father finds her he will kill her before he lets her walk away.

Jazz has so much going for her from her sassy mouth to her fighting skills she has learn from the best and will not back down. Jazz is not your run of the mill women with her blue hair and a very foul-mouthed which adds so much to this wonderful character. I fell in love with her as soon as she opened her mouth and took on the bikers in a fight when they thought she was a little bit of nothing. Oh the plans they had for her but she had some of her own. She was sent to the town Gilead to contact a man who will help her get to a safe pack. What she finds is a small run down town, bikers who attack her and one mean looking man that she finds is her contact. When she is attacked he comes to her rescue little does he know she needs no help. Oh the words they have, she is ready to move on which isn’t going to be easy as she finds out she has lost everything to her name. She is left with little to do but to go with Doc Goodman who looks more bear than wolf. They are at each other’s throats from the start along with the pull of attraction. She is shocked to find that men do not treat women cruel but love and protect them. Things happen that leaves her with little choice but to stay in this small town in a house that is ready to fall down. She and Doc just do not get along at all which makes this an outstanding read as they come head to head on a few issues locking horns which leaves you wondering who will come out the winner.

Doc Goodman he is a little rough around the edge but cleans up well. He has had a hard time of it as he moved to Gilead to hide out from his past. He isn’t looking for a mate he is just helping the good wolves there putting in time until he dies. That is until the spitfire hell cat comes to town and turns his world upside down with her fowl mouth and sassy ways. What did he ever do to have to put up with the likes of her? I really adored Doc he is a very caring man with many years of hurt and pain deep inside of him. He always puts the pack first and doctors for free or food. You are so going to love the mess he gets his self in as he just tries his best to put one foot in front of the other. The is so much of a pull between him and Jazz he is running as fast as he can running the other way. What he would really like to do is pick her up shake her and then throw the lip lock on her. What he does do is push her away as he tries to out run his past.

Holly Adams brings so much this story as she gives a wonderful voice to this outstanding read. She hits each tone as she makes you feel the sadness, pain, joy, humor and love of this pack. Her wonderful many voices gives so much. You have no trouble understanding who is talking and what their emotion is. There are a few places when she goes into a new chapter that the volume is a little higher but it doesn’t take away from the listen. This is a story I will be listening to again with the wonderful humor she gives each character just pulls you in. I found things around the house to do just so I could listen to this audio a little longer. Listening to Holly tell this story there were parts I wanted to cry it is so heartbreaking and other times I found myself laughing. Holly did a wonderful outstanding job with the narration I doubt you could go wrong listening to anything she narrators.

The author gives you two characters that have so much to learn each are trying to get by out running their past but together they make a complete pair if only they would see it. Neither want to mate but they won’t say no to a little action. Sometimes the heart gets in the way it just isn’t that easy to walk away from something you find you want more than anything. As in all the books in this series the author gives you wonderful characters you can relate to as she gives you tales filled with humor that will keep you laughing saying you go girl or oh yes tell it like it is. She covers some series issues such as abuse, she does it well as her characters help others and give back to the pack. I adore the alpha male and his mate as they go through trying times there are times my heart breaks for them as well as many other of the characters in this book. I have never really enjoyed this genres but this author makes me wish I could be part of this pack. She gives you wonderful characters and OHHHHH so much action as each member will have to fight to keep this pack together. Things are not always as they seem as the author puts some major twist to give you a one of a kind outstanding read. You are going to love this book as well as this series. If this isn’t your type of read I would still recommend you give it a try she just might turn you as she did me. I cannot wait to see where the author takes the rest of this series as she gives you a tale of lost, pain, hurt, finding yourself with a well written wonderful story of love of the best kind.

The Alpha’s Daughter is book three of the “Wolver” series. All the books in this series are written as stand-alone, but I always love having the background and history inherent in reading a series start to finish. So if you haven’t read this series, you may want to pick them up. It’s not necessary to the story, but certainly is a bonus!
This story begins with Jasmine “Jazz” Phillips traveling a lonely road in the Arkansas Mountains at night on her motorcycle, remembering the turn of events that led her here.
Jazz is the only child of Alpha wolver Bronson Phillips, a hard, power hungry, brutal man. He runs his pack in a way that promotes the more animalistic traits. Their businesses are mostly criminal and drug related, good money – but bad.
Jazz recently had a visit by the mysterious Mr. Begley, who informed her that her father was going to demand she mate the next powerful alpha he found to take over his pack. Mr. Begly then outlined a route for her to take to a pack where she could seek sanctuary in the Appalachian Mountains. She thought this would just not happen and almost threw the napkin with the route away – but didn’t. When a week later her father demanded that she mate for the good of his pack, she tried to protest, but was quickly beaten into submission for her efforts. Pretty much a prisoner in her own home, Jazz decided it would be better to escape than live a life she’d watched her mother live, abused and used as a tool for her mate.
This is a lot of background, but I’ve put it here all at once so you can get the feel for the life Jazz has come from…the book is well written with the background coming in interspersed with other events to keep the story informative, but incredibly entertaining.
The story comes to life when as Jazz stops for a rest in the town of Gilead, where she’s to meet a wolver by the name of Goodman who will assist her on her way; she’s attacked by three rogues at the bar/café where she stops. Trained to fight since a child, by “Uncle Moose”, she’s doing pretty well when a huge, hairy giant of wolver comes to her rescue.
Michael “Doc” Goodman is a doctor, an actual MD specializing in wolver medicine as well as human, who has left his old life behind to find some peace in helping the poor but wonderful pack in Gilead. The sparks and lightning that begins to fly when these two meet is wonderful to say the least. The great dialog that Ms. Rhoades puts into this tale is enthralling and exciting. I love great arguments and fun dialog and this book is simply filled with great conversations as well as a truly exciting love story!
Watching Jazz and Grizz (Jazz’s nickname for him) dance around each other and the situations that arise is not only entertaining, it’s compelling. This is a page-turner. So hard to put down, I just had to see what was going to happen. I fell in love with the pack in Gilead, wonderful people so well written you feel you have known them forever and they actually become your friends.
Of the three books, so far, in this series; The Alpha’s Daughter is definitely my favorite. I loved all of them, but this one is so rich in emotion, humor and life it’s in my top three books ever! And that’s a pretty big statement for me. I’m not going to do anymore spoilers, you just have to read and feel this wonderful story for yourself! Do yourself a favor, allow enough time for a great read and curl up with this one! Enjoy, I did!

In a world of teenage werewolves and shifter 'books' that don't even number one hundred pages and are ninety five percent sex it can be really hard to find something worthwhile that you can sink into and forget about reality for a while. This is one of the many reasons that I adore this series so much. Not only is it a fabulously well-written series, each new book seems to improve on the last. This is no exception. A strong female lead is one of the things I look for in a book and Jazz is all that and then some. Whilst most would just accept their lot in life and get on with it quietly she refuses to bow down, don't get me wrong, she's not a brat that just throws a fit cause she doesn't agree she realises that there may be more to life than what she has known. It was plain to see she hadn't had a great life but rather than let that beat her down she used it as a tool to better herself whilst standing firm on her beliefs. As much as I admired her character there were times that I just wanted to ask her what she was doing? Overall though it added to her appeal, she wasn't perfect and did mess things up occasionally but she kept trying till things worked out. Doc was another great character, the author does a great job at writing alpha males that aren't too overbearing, he had his moments but honestly, you couldn't help but love him and hope for him to get a happy ending, his heartache seemed to come across so clearly at times it was easy to see how lost he truly was.More than a little rough round the edges Doc was an easy to like to character, doesn't mean I didn't want to slap him round the head a time or two though, he is so stubborn. As is the usual with this authors books, the focus was not solely on the MC's, there was once again a fantastic cast of supporting characters who made me laugh and cry. The emotion the author can portray through even the smallest scene is astounding. I have not yet read any of her books and not been one hundred percent invested from the very first page. The book is a real page turner but I didn't mind the missing sleep cause a good book is always worth the sacrifice. I have actually read this book several times now and didn't realise I'd not done my review yet so can safely say that the appeal does not diminish over time, each time I re-read is as special as the very first. THis is one of they series I would recommend to pretty much everyone, it has the right amount of steam for those that like it without it being overbearing and taking away from the storyline. If you are a fan or pnr I'd say this was a must read. The book can be read as a standalone but personally I think reading the series is a much greater experience, it gives a greater insight into certain things that happen and also who wouldn't want more great books to read? If you haven't yet read the book but are reading this, what are you actually waiting for? Go get reading, you won't regret it for one minute then when you're done you can come back and tell me how right I was cause thats always a good thing to hear. :)

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

In this book we meet Jazz and Doc. When this book starts out Jazz thinks that she is all that and that no one would ever touch her because she is the alpha's daughter. Little does Jazz know that her father has plans for her, plans she has no desire to be a part of. Jazz has no desire to be the mate of any alpha and that is what her father is planning on selling her off to be. Jazz meets a man named Eugene Begley who lets her know all of this as well as give her the perfect way to escape. Jazz runs to the last place that she thinks her father or anyone else would be looking for her. She knows she is suppose to find Doc Goodman better know as Doc. After Jazz looses everything that night she has no choice but to stay with Doc. The problem is neither of them are sure they want her there.

Doc is use to his simple life he is not looking to add anyone to it. So when Jazz ends up not only in his life but in his home as well he feels his whole world turn on it's head. Oh ya did I mention everyone including Doc thought Jazz would be a guy. So when he is a she Doc doesn't know what to do but with her wallet stolen and no money to her name as well as her bike gone. She can't exactly get up and go and though he rescued her he hauled her off before she could secure anything so he feels a little responsible. Doc is on a mission though and is afraid that one little woman could throw him off his game and this research is about more than just taking notes it is about the survival of this small community.

This is an amazing book about getting lost but finding your way and your real purpose along the way. When I first got this book I had no clue about it. Another author was asking people to review it for her friend. When I started this book I was unable to put it down. This book hooked me from the first word to the very end. This book has many twists and turns as you learn about not only Doc and Jazz but the people of this small community as well. It seems everyone has a secret in one form or another, and you will enjoy finding out each and everyone of them. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

I enjoyed the previous two books in the Wolver series and this didn't disappoint. If you haven't read the previous two, it doesn't matter as they are all stand alone novels and you're not left wondering what the author is talking about. This book centres around Jazz Phillips and Doc Goodman, who Jazz later nicknames Griz.

Jazz is an Alpha's daughter (which is quite rare) and her father intends to auction her off to the wolver most likely to give him a strong grandchild to follow in his footsteps. When Jazz refuses, her father beats her to a pulp to force her into submission, but when she is sufficiently healed, she runs away. A thousand miles later, she stops off in a small town to rest for the night and to meet someone who will help her further on her way. On her way into the bar, she is bumps, quite literally, into the local bad boy who takes exception at the way she defends herself. Jazz is a bad ass who is more than capable of defending herself and she suddenly finds herself in the middle of a fight. Enter Doc Goodman. Not only does he break up the fight, but he ends up taking her home with him after her motorcycle, money and everything she has is stolen.

Life in Gilead is not what Jazz is used to and Doc despairs of her. She is the opposite of Doc. She is a loud, foul mouth fist fighting bad ass against him being a quiet, moody, reclusive medical doctor. On her first full day in Gilead, Jazz has a fight with Donna and Ellie which Doc has to break up again. As part of her punishment meted out by the Alpha of Gilead, Jazz is forced to work with both Ellie and Donna which means she can't leave straight away. There is suspense, misunderstandings, laughter and epiphanies along the way and I love how the author brings the other characters to life. I hope she writes some more books about the Wolvers as most are loveable characters, especially the twins!

Again I find myself wandering across a little gem of a book part way into a series!! This book grabbed me by the heart and didn't let go until the final page!

We begin be seeing Jazz, the ultimate party girl shifter (or is she?). She's just found out she's being auctioned off to the highest bidder as an Alphas Mate, the epitome of Alpha trophy wife! When a friendly matchmaker warns her and aids her escape, she makes her way to a little hick town. Before she can get her bearings she's being attacked and her bike is stolen.

Enter Doc (or Griz as Jazz calls him). He comes to her rescue and when she later accidentally attacks a pack member, he also becomes her host as she carries out a kind of community service. As the story unfolds we learn Doc's tragic story and his retreat from his previous life. As the relationship between them evolves, we see Jazz' party girl armour slowly chink away to reveal her inner core. She is not just a pretty face or high school drop out.

As danger arrives on their doorstep we see the pack join forces with some unlikely allies and new romances bridge divides.

The characters are empathetic, engaging, thoughtful and downright funny (I dare you not to laugh out loud) but with most things those who make you laugh can also make you cry and this is so true of these. The supporting members of the pack in this story are fabulous (especially the Alpha pair) and you will find yourself eventually rooting for a few that you felt sure you were going to majorly dislike!!!

I was put onto this author by another paranormal author, Michelle Fox, and I can't thank her enough! Now have the others in this series on my wishlist and can't wait to resubmerge myself into this fantastic world.

I'm a big fan of this independent author, her writing style and worlds she creates just seem to click for me. This was a great addition to her Wolvers series and I really enjoyed reading it. However, like another reviewer posted, this completely works as a stand alone. In fact all of the ones in this series could be read independently from one another.

I must confess I didn't think I was going to like Jazz in the very beginning. She just kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I found her a little arrogant, cocky and she came off as more of a teenager than a woman in her later 20's. I also didn't know what to make of Griz as well, he was so closed off put off such vibs of leave me alone and was so rough around the edges. I kept with it though, because this author has yet to let me down, and before I knew it I was reading well past my bedtime and needed to force myself to put the Nook down for the night. Jazz still isn't my favorite of the female leads this author has written, but I really grew to respect her and could understand where she was coming from. It think she was a great match for her Griz and I hope to see them again in future books in this series.

The supporting cast of characters was great and full of all kinds of people you would normally find in small town life. Gilead is a charming community and it is no wonder Jazz became so attached to it. The story moved at a good pace and had several high drama arcs before reaching the H.E.A for these two. It was a great ride, thank you!

Jasmine Phillips, a.k.a. Jazz is on the run b/c her Alpha wolver father has decreed its time for Jazz to be mated to a male of his choosing. Jazz is is no typical wolver female, she is the daughter of an Alpha, she is a Mate. Jazz has been trying to make up for being born a girl and not the son her father wanted. She is aggressive, strong-willed, stubborn, and tough. Jazz stood up to her father and his wishes and was punished in kind. But when she got the chance, she got out of town in a hurry by stealing a motorcycle and some cash. She stops at a bar and runs into some unsavory guys that want more than she is willing to offer. Another wolver comes to Jazz's rescue even though she was successfully beating up the thugs. Turns out her rescuer is the person she was looking for, Doc Goodman, and he really is a doctor in the small town. Doc was expecting a man, not Jazz. He was supposed to let her stay with him for a few days and then have her sent to his home pack to escape her father. The Alpha and Mate tell Doc that he is responsible for Jazz after she gets into a fight with some of the local women that Jazz assumed were about to attack her.Jazz has lived her life in a fight or flight scenario and she always chooses fight. Her defenses are slowly broken down as she is accepted by the people and begin to care for them and the Doc, who she nicknames Griz. Love and friendships blossoms in the town of Gilead. But the danger is not over yet with enemies coming from all sides it seems. Loss and cheer are also right around the corner. I loved this book, it was super crazy.

I was gifted this book thru instafreebie.com from the author herself, and I must say I absolutely Loved this story..

Jazz is on the run from her pack to escape a unwanted mating. Her father, the Alpha, is bound and determined that he will get her mated to the one he thinks she should marry, either the highest bidder or the most powerful wolf. No way Jose! she is not one to be told what or who to mate. So she steals a motorcycle and speeds away to find the place Eugene Begley told her about. A place where she needs to see a Doc Goodman, little does she know her life is about to be torn upside down and sideways.

Doc Goodman, Griz, has been the doc has been in Gilead for 2 years, but he is also hiding from his past and doesn't want his quiet life undisturbed. But when he sees a woman getting attacked in the alley, his instincts kick in and he comes to her rescue, though Jazz doesn't see it as that, she didn't need help, she screamed at him. lol.

Anyway, her motorcycle and purse are stolen and now she is stuck in this town, oh and she ends up staying with the doc and boy oh boy does things get exciting from there.

This is like reading 3 books in one, just when you think it is about to end, pow another twist in the story begins. So cool.

This is the first I have read any of Jacqueline Rhodes and I am most definitely grabbing more of her books. It made me laugh, cry, scream and hold my breath, everything I enjoy in a great book. Must read for any PNR lovers.

You have got to go grab this book!!!

The Alpha's Daughter is a well-written paranormal romance with just the right combination love romance, trouble and sass, with a sprinkling of well-meaning lovable neighbors thrown in. Jacqueline Rhoades does a excellent job of allowing the friendship of Jazz and Doc unfold turning into love as the story progresses. Unlike the previous two books in this series, this one I found myself the most emotional over. My emotions ran the gambit from tears of laughter to tears of sorrow. I love the sparring between Jazz and Doc. Two equally stubborn people the perfect match for each other. The “bumping uglies” parts were definitely steamy. However, it was the interactions between all the characters that I truly loved. Each one had a special little story and, thankfully, the author took the time to introduce all of them without burying me in the boring details. Although, I would have loved to have found out the twins secret.

I’m actually very sad to see this series end. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of each book. Ms. Rhoades has created a wonderful paranormal romance series that anyone who likes shifters will enjoy. Each book in this series touches on the MC from all the other books but each book works well as a stand-alone although I suggest reading them all.

I received this book from JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.

Given the book for an honest review.

This book is not quite what I expected of an alpha’s daughters situation. This woman is not a loved and protected daughter but an inconvenience to be used when the alpha does not get his way.

Jazz has had to proved herself to her father’s pact most of her life after the death of her mother. Her father expects her to obey but he pays little attention to her unless she gets into trouble.

Her father has never seriously hurt her until the day she openly defies him about taking a mate of his choice. This is the day her life changed for the worse.

Doc Goodman is a shifter taking care of the poor “wolvers’ in Gilead. He does all he can to keep them well, feed and protected secretly. He is trying hard to find out why the pact now longer having healthy pups. He has a past that only the alpha and his mate are aware of and he plans to keep it that way.

When Jazz and Doc meet it is a curse laden meeting. Doc is bear of a man while Jazz is firehouse of feistyness. Who will when in this battle of wills?

This book is not quite like other shifter stories. The author uses different terms for shifter wolves which is a nice change. I also think that the male character my shift into two different species but I may be wrong or he has one and it can change into something more.

Enjoyed the book and looking forward to more in this series.

Another fantastic read by Jacqueline Rhoades!

In a world where almost anyone can independently publish a book it can become tedious to wade through the mediocre to find a winner and I'm here to tell you that you can put those waders away because Jacqueline is a sure thing! I've read everyone of her books and fell in love each time!

The Alpha's daughter is a bit different than previous entries into the Wolver's Series. This time we get a female shifter that knows the ins and outs of Wolver politics. Unfortunately she comes from an archaic pack that treats women like crap. In an attempt to escape a forced marriage she flees and finds herself in a back-water Appalachian town and it's pack. When the local pack doctor takes her in she quickly learns that life in Gilead might be simple, but it's anything but boring.

Filled with hilarious characters, a romance that builds, an action filled climax, and a bitter-sweet rise to power this book has it all!

Treat yourself and pick up The Alpha's Daughter today.

*While this is book 3 in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone.
Although, seriously, you're going to want to check out the rest of them because they're awesome ;)

This is the first book that I have read by Jacqueline Rhoades, and it is the 3rd book in this series. I did not feel that I was missing out on anything from other books, so I think this can be read as a stand alone. Jazz is fleeing from her pack and an arranged marriage that she does not want. Jazz is used to being in charge, but at the same time, has come to expect and view abuse from males to females as normal. Doc is essentially a hermit, although he is the pack doctor in his town and helps everyone. He has shut himself off emotionally and just wants to be left alone. Jazz nicknames him Grizz due to his Grizzly Bear appearance. Jazz and Grizz draw each other out and help each other to see what is missing in the others lives. Jazz is actually more willing to accept the changes, whereas Grizz fights them due to some things that occurred in the past. I really enjoyed the story and seeing Jazz and Grizz realize their feelings for each other. Jazz matures and becomes more open and Grizz letting things go and accepting himself and the past. This was a great story and I look forward to reading more stories by Ms. Rhoades.

Given to me for an honest review. Jazz is running away from her father, the Alpha, and his pack. He's going to sell her to highest bidder, who will be the next Alpha of their pack. She's taken care of all the duties of the Alpha's mate since her mother died and she refuses to be property to be sold and hit when her mate didn't like something she did. A friend gave her instructions to use if she left the pack. She's in the town now and needs further directions. Three drunk bikers decided she was fair game, but found she was not that easy to handle. A large bearlike man comes to her rescue and sends them away. Jazz is insisting that she could handle them. He takes her into the bar and finds out that he is the man she is looking for. When they leave the bar, they find her bag which previously had money and credit cards. The 3 guys took her bike (with her clothes) and her money. She can't report her things stolen because she stole them. What will she do now because she was planning on getting further away from her father? What is Doc, her rescuer going to with a foul-mouthed female? He'll let his Alpha decide.

I will start by saying that I was unaware that this was book 3 in the series. It in no way affected my enjoyment of the book (as you can see by the 5-star rating), and at no point did I feel like I had missed out on anything.

This is a perfectly sized book - not too long, but certainly long enough to get your teeth into. One of the things that I loved is that you get everything here - the beginning, middle, climax and epilogue of their story. How fantastic is that? I was not left wanting, indeed, I was completely satisfied by the story of Jazz and Griz.

I won't go into a breakdown of the story, you have the synopsis and other reviews for that. What I will say is that this is exceptionally well-written, with a fast and flowing pace that kept my attention on every word. I connected with all the characters and certainly wept more than a few tears for them. This is the first book I have read by this author, but it certainly won't be the last. Highly recommended!

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *
