Soooo freaking good. I didn't want it to end. I bought one of the author's books on Amazon just to repay her in some small measure for giving me the answers I needed. The itch has finally been scratched.

Took me a while but I really really enjoyed this book. This is only the second piece of fanfic I've ever read and I really only picked it up because I hated how the show treated the ASOIAF characters (who didn't?) and I have finally accepted that GRRM isn't going to finish the series. He might publish one more book, maybe get most of the way through a second, but he's already getting up there and he's been working on the sixth book for over a decade. I'm not sure how many decades of quality writing he has left. So, I turned to fanfic to finish the series. And boy am I glad I did. In every way, I think this author is a better author than GRRM. Everything was faster paced, the sentences were cleaner and crisper. I didn't get the feeling that George made a bet with a friend that he could publish a bestselling book with twice as many Sansa chapters as Dany even though Sansa was doing nothing more than watching Sweet Robin pick his nose. Things actually *happen* in this book. I was very rarely bored, unlike in the "real" books, which I got so bored of that I had to read books four and five via audiobook because at least listening to them while doing the dishes made them somewhat more bearable. I liked this author's writing so much that I went and bought one of her "real" (non fanfic) books on Amazon. If the writing is anywhere near as good as this book, I will be thrilled.

For those of you who want to know how the series ends but don't want to wait for GRRM to take his finger out, check this book out. You won't be disappointed.

This is easily one of the best fanfictions I've ever read - not only due to the storylines (which have been resolved in an absolutely perfect way), but also due to the sophisticated, complex language and the wonderfully executed descriptions. While Arya's arc has been my favourite in that fanfiction, others were resolved nearly that well too, especially the plot on Aegon and the stone dragons as well as Brienne and Sansa's experiences. While I understand the author wanted to end the story, the end felt kind of disappointing, not even showing anything about Daenerys' war against the others (only by other characters telling about it). Still, if this was George R.R. Martin's ending to "A Song of Ice and Fire", I'd absolutely accept it (in spite of missing resolutions to Areo and Aeron's arcs). Amazing piece of work which deserves five stars.

If A Song of Ice and Fire is never finished, The North Remembers will be a more than acceptable stand in for an official conclusion. The author brings together the characters and storylines in ways that feel natural - I don't know that what she writes is how it will go, but it doesn't come across as impossible either. I especially love her storylines for Sansa and Jaime. In GoT Sansa was my least favorite, but between her growth in the series and how she's written here, she became the character it was most enjoyable to read.

If you're tired of waiting for Winds of Winter, read The North Remembers. It'll help fill the void.

The beginning was quite interesting with the plot taking elements from many of the famous theories, but it quickly ran into the same problem that Mr Martin is dealing with. Towards the middle, the tightly knit Stark family based narrative gets bloated with other characters and subplots. The prose is surprisingly well done for a fanfiction. I would put it above the Kindle-Unlimited authors and slightly below the traditionally published authors. I did not like the ending but it is most likely the only ending we are going to get, so fans of the series should definitely give it a go. And no, I am going to pretend that the TV show ended after season 4.

Phew! Finally finished this epic fanfic.
The main thing I feel is... angry.
This is SO MUCH BETTER than the conclusion of the TV show. The characterisation is perfect, the twists and turns dramatic and unexpected but incredibly satisfying. Silverblood manages to resolve all the narrative questions from the A Song of Ice and Fire books - including those the TV producers ignored - and has produced a great conclusion to the book series.
Which is more than either GRRM or D&D managed to do, and yet who gets the money and the fame??
Like I said, angry.

The best fanfiction I have ever read. If GRRM bites the dust before the end, I'll gladly accept this as canon.

I’ve never been one for fan fiction at all, maybe when I was like twelve or something lol but it’s never really interested me.

But nonetheless, a 1,100 page fan written rendition of a possible ending to A Song of Ice and Fire really intrigued me.

And it’s actually pretty good. It’s clear the author really understood the characters and overall narrative really well. The prose isn’t GRRM level or anything but it comes really close to replicating his style too.

The fact that this was written before the show started getting into new territory is for the best because the characters actually feel like the book characters and uninfluenced by the show.

It kind of does feel a bit bloated and slogs a bit in the middle but maybe not as bad as some main series chapters do lol.

I don’t think the real conclusion to the series will be similar to a lot of this, but it is a really cool “what if” scenario. Theres a lot of minor story threads from the main series that aren’t mentioned here that I think will be major parts of the actual concluding books.

If I had one complaint, I’d say that it does have an over reliance on a super popular fan theory (that’s basically canon). It’s basically mentioned every other chapter and I pray GRRM is more subtle when it’s actually revealed.

This book took me almost three years to finish. Then came a sudden burst of need to finally know the end of ASOIAF, which led me to devour nearly 40% of this massive fanfic in just a week.

I’ll admit, many moments felt too jarring to believe: Samwell suddenly skilled with a sword, Theon’s abrupt bravery in finally killing Ramsay, or Stannis’s complete willingness to sacrifice himself. Even the idea of gathering all the main characters in King’s Landing felt a bit forced.

Yet despite these implausibilities, I admire the author’s courage, to keep writing, to tie up the tangled knot that was ASOIAF as we left it in ADWD.

Blunt as I usually am in rating books, I still found a certain beauty here, especially in moments like the Stark siblings reuniting. I never thought GRRM would dare write those scenes, so kudos to you for giving us closure.

It's not the source material, but it is nearly close to the quality of it. I like the writing style better and I enjoy how streamlined the story is. I look forward to the last few chapters.

Even if GRR Martin never gets around to finishing the series, I won't be sad. Because I'll always have this story to fill in the void.
