In exchange for a promotion, Katherine Murphy must find a suitable man for her difficult boss and enlisting the help of her best friend Luc to accomplish this difficult task, and, in the process, finds her own Mr. Right. Original.
With over 6 million books sold (and counting), Kathia’s novels have been #1 bestsellers around the world. They’ve received starred reviews from Booklist, have consistently earned Editor’s Picks for Best Romance, and have been featured by O, The Oprah Magazine and Entertainment Weekly.
Kate (aka Kathia) has written over 50 romcom and paranormal books so far, as well as a couple romantasy screenplays and various poems (her ode to the color orange is particularly moving). Full of hope and bonds of found family and friendship, her stories feature sassy, independent women who just want love and earthy men full of heart who are more than able to rise to the occasion.
I love me a socially awkward heroine. I love fact spewing as well and friends to lovers and a clueless that he likes her romance but this one was too much of everything, Well, not the fact spewing...I love that.
The level of cluelessness was crazy and then kind of cruel and self involved. I get that she had a real need to achieve but she ended up being stupid instead of clueless and then mean.
The hero and the nieghbor I loved in this book but I have no idea why he why he didn't just tell her how he felt. This was dumb as well. There was no character of plot base of his choice.
Oh, the Daddy Project plot made me nuts too. LOL. A wall banger for me with some funny moments.
Ok, despite my midterms, I couldn't stop myself from reading one not so big book. I thought that this one will be just perfect for weekend because I needed something to distract me for a while. And I found this book and read it in few hours! This book was really very lovely friends to lovers story. Just like I prefer :)
Tengo algunas cosas que decir respecto a este libro. Pero antes empecemos con una breve sinopsis made in Barby's mind (posibles spoilers... nah, sí, hay spoilers. Lean bajo propio riesgo):
Although most jobs have clearly defined tasks and procedures, but every once in a while a worker has to go the extra mile and make coffee, pick up the dry cleaning or the children, or mail personal letters on their way home... This goes beyond the usual extras in the workplace. To get the promotion that she wants she has to find a future-daddy-husband for her workaholic boss and she is terrible because she know nothing about dating of talking to men so she drafts her friend Luc into being her guide in the mysterious world of relationships... I totally understand being blind of the forest because of the trees. I adore the friendship to love plot in romance novels because that is the most like real life that we can get in a love story. This had a lot of fun random facts and awkward moments that made me laugh out loud which hasn't happened with a freebie for kindle in a long time. I recommend reading this fun comedy of errors. 2 stars
I don't know how I feel about this book. Katherine came across as plain stupid rather than just innocent and silly. 2/3 of the book made me absolutely sick at just how stupid the author made her seem. I don't know anybody as ignorant as she made this chick out to be. Towards the end she seemed to get a little bit of a clue and the book got a littel better and I actually enjoyed what I was reading. I got this one free for my kindle and the cover says $3.99. OMG if I had actually spent $4 on this I would have been ticked off. I was almost ticked that I had wasted the space on my kindle for free.
Katherine Murphy, an intellectual whose sight zeroed on VP position but it's only achievable once she gets this job to find a perfect man for her boss. She spurt out random facts every now and then, I admit she's quite an interesting intellectual character but she's also super oblivious to a man's attraction towards her that is her best friend, Luc, whom she also attracted to. The story pretty much centered in her mission to find a man and with Luc's help to ensure she's able to communicate humanely (i mean by not always straightforwardly ask a man if he's interested to donate his sperm or he has a disease and all that). Then based on above, of course it's about the attraction that they both felt towards each other. But I must say, I found Luc's a bit... I don't know like you know your friend's super oblivious of your feelings for her yet you don't actually say it and you expect her to know it. It kinda drag the story a little. Anyway, for me, this book gave me an easy, light reading without a fuss or a severe headache or a heart break. I think it's a good book to read regardless and I think a 3 out of 5 stars is a deserving one.
Katherine needs to find a man for her boss. The problem is that this man will need to father a child for her boss. She enlists her best friend Luc to help. During this time, things change between Katherine and Luc. Katherine wants her promotion so badly that she asks Luc to pose as a possibility for her boss. When Luc and her boss click, Katherine is not feeling too good about the situation.
I've always loved the friends to lovers plot and this one doesn't disappoint. True story, I nearly had a heart attack when I thought I lost this book. Thank god, I found it while spring cleaning. Now, I have this on epub too. Phew. One of my favorite books of all time!
I finished reading the book Project Daddy. It is about a girl named Katherine who is trying to find a sperm donor for her boss Lydia. Lydia is a very pretty woman but does not have the time to find herself a husband and she wants to get pregnant right away. Katherine has trouble talking to strange people and approaching them, so she asks for help from her best friend Luc. Luc takes her many places but Katherine has trouble finding a man that meets all of Lydia's requirements. When she does find someone who fits Lydia's list of requirements and she tries to make an appointment with them, they all cancel on her. Luc on the other hand likes Katherine and tries to give her clues by buying her presents but Katherine just keeps thinking that he is too good for her and he will never like her more than a friend. Later in the story they begin to hang out more and start enjoying each other more and more. Soon the day comes when Katherine was suppose to have atleast 3 people to meet up with Lydia and had none. So katherine just has Luc meet up with Lydia. She did all this because if she doesn't, then she will lose her job and if she is succesful then she is going to get a promotion and will be closer to buying herself a house that she has always wanted. So when Luc meets with Lydia, she begins to like him and wants to be with Luc instead of just have him donate his sperm. So Katherine gets worried because she does not want Luc to be with her at all. One day she meets Drake whos is fighting with Lydia over some business, and sees that Lydia does not like Drake at all. So Drake meets up with Katherine and asks her question about Lydia. Katherine first hesitates to tell him everything but later on she tells him what happened and how she is upset that her best friend is going out wit Lydia. Drake comes up with a plan to make Luc jealous so that he will leave Lydia and be with Katherine. There plan does succeed and at the end of the story, we find out that Lydia and Drake dated before and were in love but got seperated because of a misunderstanding due to Lydia bieng so involved in her work and not caring about anything else. Drake explains to her what happened and how her boss lied to her, and he has been in love with her since then. Lydia forgives him and when Katherine is leaving she realizes that Drake and Lydia are perfect together because he is the one who fits all of Lydia's requiremnets. She thinks to herself that she has been trying to find another Drake.
this was a cute novel, not as good as project date, though. At times i was bored and the story just seemed to drag. Katherine's naivety was unnerving but i fell in love with Luc. The concept of the novel is definitely reaching (Boss wants employer to find her a sperm donor candidate randomly that isn't a lunatic) but Perry pulls it off, somehow. I'm really starting to like this author and i'm looking forward to her other books.
I definitely like how simple her characters are in their complexities, which makes them that much more realistic to me. Katherine's random useless facts are curiously funny, they had me going "what? really?!" i had to restrain myself from asking all knowing google for confirmation.
I really wish i read them in order (even though they are not continuations, or even remotely related) because i feel that Perry's writing improves and it was just awkward and hard to not compare the differences after reading project date first.
Because of her childhood Kat is determined to buy a house and works her ass off for it. Unfortunately her dad always knocks on her door to ask for money and she always writes a check. Kat is a strange person, always sprouting trivia. The only good friend she has is Luc, whom she met at school and loves her no matter what.
One day Kat's female boss asks her to do a special assignment: to find her a sperm donor. If Kat fails this task, she will not only forfeit her promotion to VP, but also be fired.
Desperate, Kat asks Luc to help her find candidates. This is were the book is a bit far fetched. But OK, I read on and quite enjoyed the story. Even when Luc started dating Kat's boss out of anger with Kat.
The one thing I could not understand is WHY Luc has never done anything about the situation before. 15 Years... and he never once tried to enlighten Kat???
Nice read, nice story. But no more than 3 stars for me.
Katherine’s goal was to own her own home. Lynda, the owner of the company she works for offered her promotion to vice president with a six figure salary. All she had to do was successfully completes her current assignment – finding Lynda a sperm donor in two weeks. Luc had been Katherine’s best friend since they were in elementary school and he was her “go-to” person when she had a problem. The deadline arrived and Katherine did not have a sperm donor candidate so she asked Luc to meet Lynda. Things did not work out as she thought they would . . . Luc and Lynda actually seemed to like each other. They were going away for a romantic weekend. Katherine realized she did not want Luc and Lynda to be a couple. She would give up her dream if it meant keeping Luc in her life.
This was a charming little book and if you like light hearted romance you will enjoy it.
What a weird, weird, weird, weird premise for a book. Seriously? Find your boss a sperm donor? Not just a sperm donor, but one with specific physical qualities?? Ugh, yuck. So that premise kept me from reading this book for the longest time, until I just couldn't take it any more and I had know what the frick was going to happen. And I am so glad I did. I still don't like the premise, but I LOVED the heroine of the story and her supporting cast. She is a go-getter, and very, very funny. She states random facts whenever she gets nervous or there is a lull in conversation. And they are usually pretty funny facts. Her best friend is handsome and just so wonderful to her. I felt bad for him throughout the book. But the end wrapped up just so perfectly. Again, I am glad I got over my pre-conceived notions of what this book would be like, and I enjoyed it for what it was.
Kathryn Murphy a researcher has been tasked with finding a man. Not any man, but one with specific traits. Not for herself, but for her boss! Kathryn is a remake of Bones, with Luc, her special friend, as Booth. There are some funny moments, especially when Kathryn walks up to total strangers and asks some very PRIVATE questions. To say that she has no social skills, is putting it mildly. I found the book to be somewhat bland, although this is one of those "it's my thing/or not my thing" kind of books. I love Bones, but this just didn't do it for me.
This book reminded me of the TV show Bones. Super smart character oblivious to the emotions of those around her. Like the TV show it does at times get annoying that she is so blind and so intensely socially awkward but Luke makes up for it. I wish the author had developed their back story from his point of view a little more. They have been friends for 15 years...when did he fall in love with her? Why now of all times make a move? Why beat around the Bush and not just say how you feel? But it ends the way it is supposed to even if it took some turns getting there.
PROJECT DADDY by Kate Perry has an ending I did not expect. This novel take you on a mind-boggling journey of a research project that leads you into situations you would not expect. Katheryn, the researcher, is from a dysfunctional home who is involved in trying to reach a success level so high that she almost lost her dream. This is a book you will not want to put down until you have read it through from beginning to end.
This has to be one of the funniest book I've read. Katherine Murphy is one of the few quirky characters that I can relate to because I am always spewing weird facts like she does. If only Luc had been a little more upfront about his feeling/intentions it would have been less of a messy situation but then we wouldn't have got such a great read from Kate Perry. So....... 2 thumbs up for project Daddy.
This book was predictable but still lots of fun to read. It really felt like I was reading a classic romantic comedy movie with Katherine Heigl in the lead role. LOL. No kidding, that's who I pictured the whole time. I never "cast" the other characters, just Kat (the main character). This was a quick, easy, thoroughly enjoyable read. I highly recommend it.
What a funny, light, easy read. I just read this again recently and still enjoyed it. I'm always a fan of friends to lovers plot line since that is how my hubby and I came together. The plot was unique, I don't think I've read a book with the same plot. This had likable characters and witty dialogue. A definite must if your looking for a light, fun read.
For someone who research and read a lot, Kat is pretty clueless when it comes to love. Almost unbelievable. And there's only so much clueless-ness i can take. I'd understand it if she was in her early twenties. But she's closer to 30 than 20! It's a good, light read. But if you're looking for a little more complicated love story, this isn't for you.
This was such an adorable book. If you want something light and fun, this is a great option! I got it as a free book and frankly didn't have high expectations for it, but I was so wrong. I really loved the characters and the concept and it would be a great beach summer read :)
Very funny and heartwarming! My favorite from Kate. I just can't stop reading it once I started. As expected, Kate didn't disappoint with this book. It made me laugh out loud, literally. Made me wish I have my "Luc". Join Katherine as he find the perfect "daddy" for her boss.
Really fun book! Loved Katherine and Luc's relationship, too. Quirky, funny, nerdy, full of random trivia of the sort that usually fills my head. Laughed out loud several times and smiled through the ending and epilogue. Definitely recommend.
Sort of a madcap comedy about a researcher tasked with finding a sperm donor for her impossible-to-please boss. The heroine-narrator probably has Asperger's or something like it, which means the reader understands more than she does at times...fun to read.
A sweet, funny book. I enjoyed it immensely, and would like to go back to the front and read all over again. Katherine was just so completely clueless, and Luc was so adorable. Loved it!
The main character Katherine is a very intelligent woman who has no social skills. However she very informative and when she's nervous starts stating facts (which by the way are really hilarious). I really enjoyed the book as it was very entertaining and laughable.
