I hate giving bad reviews, but this 1/2 star book needed a LOT of work. A beta reader would've been a great help in fixing the confusing plot. There were so many nondescript characters and names that half the time I didn't know who was who, or what in the world was going on. Half the dialogue was ridiculous, meaningless filler. The other half was overdramatic and forced. I was tempted to start a drinking game every time I read "What now?"

I never did understand what Jackie hoped to accomplish by visiting the mansion on her uncle's behalf. If she was trespassing and worried about being caught by the police, why did she bring food to stock the fridge and plan to stay a few days? Note that she does this just after a miraculous recovery from a car wreck. This is just one example of the conflicting information contained in the book. I understand that she wants to find the man responsible for killing the Demiris heirs, as does Michael, but Jackie was hopelessly stupid and repeatedly walked directly into danger. Don't get me started on how many times she swooned and fainted away from the stress she put herself through.

I actually felt a little sorry for Michael having to save her ... over and over and over. The romance was non-existent and the law enforcement came across like the Keystone Cops. The action was unrealistic and everything moved WAY too fast. As a reader I need a chance to breathe and absorb what's happening. This story is written like a bad fanfic and I was really disappointed. From the summary, I had expected so much better. Thankfully I only spent 99 cents on it.

I can't even finish this book. It's like it was written by a teenager or even younger. It's choppy, the descriptive words are forced, and the editing errors are driving me NUTS! Errant commas all over where they have no reason to be, then where there should be commas there aren't any. And FOOT PETAL? Really? Does no one edit books anymore? I could go on and on. And then there were all of the over-exaggerated reactions. It was like reading a badly acted and badly written soap opera. Yuck. This was a really pathetic attempt at a book.

Loved the book!!!

I downloaded “Spellbound in your arms” looking for wonderful novel, intrigued by the title and the beautiful book cover. I fell in love with Angel Sefer’s novel. She has a wonderful writing style and the plot was extremely appealing.

She interweaves with an amazing skill, mystery, danger, romance and a lot of unexpected twists and turns. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mystery.

The story takes place on a beautiful Greek Island. Jackie a beautiful investigative reporter and Michael a very attractive detective find themselves thrown together in this intriguing plot, trying to solve a murder that has put the heirs to an incredible fortune of Greek Tycoon Andreas Demiris in gave danger.

I was totally captivated and drawn to the story like a magnet. I just couldn’t put the book down. I was charmed by the amazing job Anger Sefer did to help you feel the emotions of her characters and keep you glued to the pages.

The simmering desire that develops between Jackie and Michael is wonderful. It is a real page-turner. At the end of the story I found myself wanting more…I am hoping there is another book coming from the same author.

I'm so frustrated with this book! ***DO NOT TRUST HIGH RATINGS
getting mad photo: mad photo12.gif

Ok no seriously what on earth is going on with these 5 star ratings? There are many books where I see a high rating, so give it a shot, and then realize its probably a case of its not you it's me. However this is definitely not the case. Something is seriously going on here with the amount of people that gave this a high rating, and every time someone rates it poorly, another high rating gets added. If you don't think that fishy as hell, I don't know what is.

Moving onto the story itself. This book as a whole I think was written poorly and story wasn't executed properly. Am I being harsh? Definitely, but I have to be straightforward when it comes to my reviews. I'd rather be honest then add fluff to mislead people. Trust me if you want a good review, don't look far, I'm sure theres one right below or above mine (*note the sarcasm). The main reason I picked this book up was because I was feeling a little bit of romantic suspense at the moment. In all good suspense novels, there is a case to solve and the story gradually builds up until you discover who's the culprit. However in this book there was no way to even guess what was going on, because the story was all over the place. The two main characters, Michael and Jackie had no chemistry whatsoever and there was barely any romance. Their whole relationship was just weird. It was neither insta-love or a gradual build-up, it was just there if that makes sense. Now onto the heroine, I assumed she would be bad-ass because of her spirit and drive to help her family solve a mystery, but instead her character kept throwing herself in stupid situations that required her to be saved.

Overall I didn't connect with the characters or the story, and I think the author needs to execute her work with a little more thought. My intent isn't too bash the author, because writing a book in itself is hard work, but its not her writing or story that is ticking me off. Its these damn ratings that are misleading people to buy a book. I'm just taking a guess, i'm not sure if this is the case, but I'm going to venture and say a "street team" is behind this. A street team is a group of followers the author has, that keep rating his or her books with high ratings, which throws off the balance of what honest people are reviewing and writing. This has been more common in the book world, and I think its just sad that people are resorting to stuff like this to get people to buy their books. Its not fair and disappointing. Maybe there really is no street team, but I know for a fact something weird is going on with the amount of high ratings there are.

Spellbound in His Arms by Angel Sefer

When I was growing up, I could not wait for the next Helen MacInnes novel to appear on the shelves of our school library. When I discovered Spellbound by Angel Sefer I realized I had found another author who had the ability to blend romance, mystery and an interesting location into a captivating plot.

The main character in Spellbound is an investigative reporter named Jackie Alexander, who travels from Atlanta to Greece to investigate a dangerous and puzzling mystery. Her visit to the Demiris estate on the Island of Corfu, immediately plunges her into jeopardy. Jackie needs to examine some documents locked away in the mansion, but encounters an intruder on her arrival at the isolated estate. The intruder is Michael Apostolou, a police detective, who has the same intentions as Jackie, but apparently for a different reason. Jackie and Michael are instantly attracted to each other, but there are too many unanswered questions to allow them to trust each other.

This book is fast paced, but surprisingly easy to read. I found myself racing through the pages, then scrolling back to reread and savor each twist and turn in the plot. The geographic details supply just the right amount of information to make you aware of the exotic surroundings without slowing down the flow of the story. Romance, suspense, and mystery supply the reader with an interesting combination that is hard to beat. Five stars from me for a story well done. This debut novel from Ms Sefer is one you don’t want to miss. I am looking forward to many others as this series continues.

"Spellbound in His Arms" by Angel Sefer is a great romantic suspense story set on the beautiful Greek island of Corfu. The story throws the reader in at the deep end with investigative reporter Jackie Alexander being caught breaking and entering in a mansion while trying to find information about a series of 'accidents'. The suspicious events are eliminating heirs to a family fortune in Greece and Jackie's wants to prevent further deaths by taking matters in her own hand.
Caught by the very attractive detective Michael Apolstolou she soon joins forces with him but the relationship between them remains 'complicated'.
The story is written so smoothly and well paced that I hardly noticed the time passing. The chemistry between the characters is right there from the start but Sefer has thankfully added a few more threads to the complex plot to keep readers intrigued and involved beyond the romance story.
With a love for detail the author describes the life of the rich, the corrupt and the powerful, the evil doers and their intrigues, distrust and often unhappy lives.
Romance and mystery lovers are being served well here with great suspense and a strong romance between the two main characters taking centre stage in an exciting and passionate crime novel.
Great entertainment.

I finished reading "Spellbound in his Arms" in a single day. Trust me, that was not my intention. My very busy schedule allows me to read while I commute to work and just a bit in bed, before my eyes slide shut and my Kindle hits me on the nose. Well, that wasn't the case here. I stayed up well after my usual bedtime because I just had to finish this riveting story. Angel Sefer weaves an intricate story full of twists, turns, mistrust and unexpected surprises that come down in a torrent from the very first page! The reader has barely time to pause and breathe in the intoxicating bougainvillea aromas or take in the wonderful Corfiat scenery, and yet another gunshot makes investigative reporter Jackie Alexander take flight. Most of the times though, she runs right into gorgeous detective's Michael Apostolou's arms. If only she could be sure where he stands in this web of manipulative, deadly heirs and their victims that keep adding up.

If you enjoy suspenseful romances set against an exotic island setting, "Spellbound in his Arms" is just the book for you. Note: this is a sweet romance.

I really enjoyed this book!

This romantic suspense story takes place in the beautiful Greek island of Corfu.

The minute I started reading I was immediately drawn in. The author immediately captures your attention and you can't help but read on, desperate to find out the answers for yourself. Definitely kept you guessing and turning the pages throughout the entire book.

I liked the characters in this book.

Michael and Jackie fall in love at first sight. Both being strong willed and finding themselves under uncertain circumstances, they try to ignore their feelings. Especially since they don't trust each other. Jackie feels that Michael isn't being honest and is hiding his own secrets. Michael doesn't know who he can trust anymore and being around Jackie and having all sorts of feelings towards her is affecting his judgement. Having no choice, they are forced to work together to figure out the mysterious deaths of the heirs to a Greek tycoons fortune.

The ending for me was a bit rushed. When I read the last page I was like, what?? That's it?? I want more!! For me, everything was summarized in the epilogue. There was definitely some potential for a few more chapters with a bit more detail on Michael and Jackie's story. For this I gave it 4 stars. Overall it was still a good read and I would definitely recommend this book.

I know you shouldn't judge a book its cover, but I fell for this book when I first saw it anyway. I love how the author describes the characters falling in love at first sight. I completely believe in this and have experienced it myself. It's a wonderful feeling that is difficult to capture, but the author does it well. This book also made me fall in love with Corfu, the Greek Island where the hero and heroine spend on a roller coaster ride of kidnapping, passion, daring escapes, and searching for hidden treasure.

I found the romance and thrills blended well together. It's not always easy to write a book that appeals to both romance fans and people who enjoy a good mystery/thriller, but I think the author pulled it off. I'm looking forward to reading more in the Greek Isles Series.

Spellbound In His Arms is book one in The Greek Isles Series and is a Romance, Suspense written by Angel Sefer. I was gifted a copy from Sarka at Booktrope Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

3 “Perfect Afternoon Read” Stars!

Jackie Alexander is on a mission to find a killer before the killer finds her cousin. Using her investigative reporting background, she travels to the Demiris Mansion on the island of Corfu in search of papers that may determine the outcome of a fortune as well as expose clues to the name of the person who is killing off the Demiris aires.

But on a dark, cold night, the last thing she expected to find in a secluded, abandoned mansion was a handsome stranger who pulls on some deep and unfamiliar emotion inside her. However, knowing who to trust isn’t easy with a killer on the loose.

Detective Michael Apostolou is ex-special forces turned cop and is investigating the deaths that surround the Demiris inheritance. People are dropping like flies and he needs to get to the bottom of it before the next victim. But upon meeting the beautiful Jackie, he might just have more to lose than he ever thought possible... and it doesn’t help that neither of them are being honest.

He has secrets. She has secrets. And as they hide from their instant attraction, the killer closes in and no one is safe.

The author did a great job of building a very suspenseful and thrilling mystery. You know right off where the conflict is coming from but there are surprises along the way you don’t see coming and that was fun.

This read was short, fast paced and exciting. There wasn’t a dull moment.. however, I think that some of the scenes were TOO fast. This read was filled with lots of mystery and lots of actual story but there wasn’t a lot of passion or romance. The characters fell in insta-love and there was no slow build. Also, the ending felt rushed. The characters seemed to walk on scene, quickly play their parts and just as quickly, exit stage left. There were no emotions in the telling of it, no descriptive words to enhance the feelings of the scene and not much dialogue. It was more like a “telling” of events and I’m more of a lover of “showing” the events. And their was very little character development.

Overall, this was a wonderful mystery with exciting action, interesting developments, suspenseful events and an enchanting setting. I loved the beautiful and eerie feel of the island and the mansion. I do wish there had been more development with the characters and more passion/romance but regardless, this was a good, quick afternoon read.

This book LITERALLY sucked me in with the very first paragraph!!! Look farther down to get a peek at it!! :-)

This book was page after page of constant action! Seriously, check out the very first paragraph of this book:

Beging excerpt - Jackie stopped dead in her tracks. What was that? A light noise coming from somewhere in the back of the mansion turned her blood to ice. She immediately turned the flashlight off and stood still, holding her breath. Her mouth went dry. What if there was someone in the mansion? How would she explain who she was and what she was doing here in the middle of the night? Then again, would her explanations make any difference to whomever, or even worse whatever, was out there? The old mansion was pitch black, far away from any civilized soul and the owner dead. Who could it be? - end excerpt
~ Chapter 1, Paragraph 1, Spellbound in His Arms

I’m not sure I can tell you how very much I enjoyed this book! It really was fly by the seat of your pants! Every time things finally calmed down for Jackie – BAM – she was off and running again! It was so much fun! I like the ways that Michael finds her and helps her. Because is could have very easily been redundant, but each time he was able to was a totally different circumstance. Sometimes it was easy, sometimes not.
I had a very hard time putting this book down because it is so action packed! It is not a super long book, but it just flew by. I couldn’t believe how much happened and I don’t think she wasted a single word! J I think very few authors would be able to pack that much into a book and make it believable. Of course I was rolling my eyes at Jackie a couple times and thinking “uh-oh, here she goes again!”, but the events were such that I believed she had no choice.

The bottom line – get this book, you won’t regret it. It was a fun book and a little like your favorite roller coaster. Two people falling in love, yet they don’t quite trust each others…..hmmmm…..LOVE IT!! Feel free to read more at my blog http://joecoolreview.com

Stephanos (Uncle) had once mentioned to Jackie Alexander that something supernatural was responsible for the mysterious drowning deaths in the family of Greek tycoon Constantinos, Andreas (cliff), Demiris & Dimitris Apostolou. He also instructed her to seek out an attorney over there. The couple had 2 girls Maria & Aphrodite. Jackie’s parents were killed in a plane crash & she was taken in by her uncle/aunt. Stephanos & Martha (uncle/aunt) & Maria were now dead also.
Jackie is bound & determined to find out the clues on her own on who/how/why the Demiris family members are ending up dead.

Detective Tony Mavrikis setting at a restaurant (Plaka) gets an expected visit from a female.

Will Philip Manos get what he wants? What will happen with Roussos & Eric Manos? Will Michael’s real secret be reveled? Will Jackie & Michael find out who the real killers of the Demiris family? Will Elizabeth Kristalis get whackd?

Cool book cover, great font & writing style. A very well crime, thrilling, exciting, scary, mysterious, & even romantic book. It was very easy to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. Quite a few twists/turns. No grammar errors, repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of interesting scenarios & a great host of characters to keep track of. This could make a great spine chilling romantic crime movie or TV series. No doubt in my mind a very easy rating of 5 stars for this book.
Thank you for the free book

SPELLBOUND IN HIS ARMS is a fantastic first novel by author Angel Sefer. Set in Greece, mostly on the island of Corfu, with some scenes in Athens (I was excited to find a short scene took place in Plaka, a historic neighborhood in Athens and my favorite spot when I vacationed there!). The author describes the Greek scenery beautifully (she is from there, after all), and the location is definitely a major player in the story.

The chemistry between the main characters, Jackie and Michael, is fiery and passionate right from the start, but what I really liked is that they were able to keep their heads to solve the mystery even as their relationship blossomed. Jackie is a feisty heroine, and nothing, even super-hot detective Michael Apostolou, is going to keep her from finding the truth about who is harming her family. There are plenty of bad guys and plenty of action in this book—perfect for a fast and fun read.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery with a good amount of romance. I look forward to reading more novels by this author.

Spellbound In His Arms intrigued me from the beginning, and it held me captivated as I turned each page. I enjoyed the way the author kept the plotline moving along nicely, and the twists at the end threw me for a loop! Jackie and Michael seemed to fall in love from the start when they met, which I will not delve into because that would ruin the plot. While I'm not normally the type of reader to fall in love with the characters from the beginning, I found that I was rooting for them the entire way through the novel.

There were times that I was very frustrated with Jackie for acting irrationally, but it did not ruin the story for me. In fact, I enjoyed the way that she had a few flaws, at least, things that might be considered flaws to me.

As a synopsis, I would say that this book is an excellent mystery and romance novel that has a little bit of thriller sprinkled throughout. It kept me on my toes as I was reading. In fact, it only took me two sittings to actually read this, and only because I had to do laundry!

ABHA'S REVIEW

3.5 STARS

I would summarize “Spellbound in His Arms” in one word: exciting! This was a fun easy read that had it all; romance, excitement and mystery with Corfu for the backdrop of the story. Jackie flies down to the Greek island to get to the bottom of all the murders in Andreas Demiris’ family. There are definitely a lot of twists and turns. Michael and Jackie are thrown into situations that get the adrenaline flowing.

There are a lot of chases, near deaths and escapes. The book definitely keeps you turning the pages, and trying to find the answer. Primarily, the book is about finding love and helping one’s family. Some of the situations are too magnificent to take seriously. They seem far-fetched and that’s one of the reasons why I give this book three and a half stars.

Overall, this is a fun book and a quick read. A good one for a long trip for sure.

What a ride this book took me on. The action did not seem to stop. It is about a woman named Jackie she is in Greece trying to take care of some family business for her Uncle. She meets a police officer named Michael who is also trying to take care of some family business also. The bad guys in this book are definitely bad guys. In the beginning I was not sure if Michael was part of the good guys or not. It seemed that every time Jackie turned around she was getting caught by the bad guys. I must say the cover of this book is absolutely lovely drew me in. I given this book for a fair and honest review. If you are a fan of suspense and romance then pick this up.

Investigative reporter Jackie Alexander travels to Corfu, Greece and pokes around the Demiris mansion in the middle of the night, hoping to find out what’s behind the string of murders in her family. She doesn’t expect to run into detective Michael Apostolou, though, who has his own agenda for being in the mansion in the dead of night. Then there’s physical attraction, kidnappings, shootouts and intrigue that kept me reading late into the night.

Sefer’s romantic suspense story kept me on the edge of my seat and was hard to put down. There were lots of twists and turns, so I was never sure who to trust and what was going to happen next. I can’t wait to read another book by this author.

This is one of those books I would describe as a guilty pleasure. Angel Sefer knows how to bring suspense, innocence, drama and heat into a story.

Our protagonist, Jackie, is a forthright woman with the desire to solve the mystery as to why so many people in the Demiris family are dying. Enter Michael, a hot Grecian police detective, and the sparks begin to fly.

Spellbound in His Arms is a great addition to the romantic suspense genre. Readers of J.D. Robb and Maggie Shayne will love this book!

Spellbound In His Arms was a very intriguing suspense romance, the first I have ever read, and it did not disappoint. The breathtaking Michael Apostolou and the energetic, bombshell Jackie Alexander kept me excited with each twist and turn of the story.

The story centers around Jackie Alexander looking for answers to the mysterious murder of her cousin Maria Demiris. With the bitter consent of her uncle Stephanos, we find her in the deserted mansion of Constantinos Demiris searching for a safe full of important papers but the only thing she finds is the gorgeous Detective Michael Apostolou instead. The two receive an attractive spark for each other immediately, but soon find out that they have other dangerous matters to attend to before they can get acquainted. Phillip Manos and his diabolical son Eric being the first on the villain hit list. With the help of a few supporting characters and bullet spraying chases, the couple finds the answers to all of their questions that plagued them.

I loved the suspense aspect of this read. By 40 percent, I had to know what was going on with the murders. Every time this brilliant writer would reveal a pivotal answer, she would unveil yet another mystery which left me biting my nails on my quest to get to the answers. The angst felt by the two leads drove me batty wanting him to finally take her to his bed and make lengthy passionate love to her, but there was no time because proverbial fires needed distinguishing.

This is a great suspenseful read and for anyone looking for a juicy chase, mystery, and romance, this is the Greek romance for you.

This novel was intensely real. Every event was not only possible but extremely plausible. As a reader you get caught up in the suspense of the story while rooting for the budding romance. The entire story was written in a realistic yet completely captivating light. Her narrative in natural and fluid, simultaneously filling the reader in and keeping them guessing. Sefer’s descriptions paint a brilliant picture of this Greek isle, combining romanticism with reality to create a phenomenal whole.

The cast of characters in this novel was fantastically developed. Sefer uses a sliding scale of development for each character based on their role in the story. It adds for a very unique feel. I also appreciate how you get to know the male lead as the female lead does. The gradual character development adds an air of mystery to this brilliant alpha male. The female lead was the only real issue that I had with this story. I mean really... How stupid can you be? That said, I also loved her as a lead. She just made a few decisions that had me wanting to smash my head off the wall.

Suspense and intrigue definitely play a role in this intriguing tale with some very romantic vibes. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys the genre.

Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.

If you’re looking for romance, a great story and perfect escapism, this book is ideal. I’ve never read a romantic thriller before this, but I will definitely read more now. The author combines a hot romance with a thrilling adventure mystery, and it definitely makes for a great story. I was caught up in the story right from the start – Jackie is exactly the kind of heroine I enjoy reading about. She doesn’t just sit back and wait to things to happen to her. She gets out there and gets things done: she’s clever, proactive and tough. And Michael is just downright swoon-worthy.

The description of the Greek islands is also truly gorgeous. You can really tell that the author loves her setting and she manages to capture it with such skill that you truly get transported into a world of blue seas, glorious beaches and ancient mansions.

I really liked Jackie and Michael as a pairing – the chemistry between them was really hot right from the start – and who wouldn’t want to solve family mysteries and face danger accompanied by a handsome, clever Greek detective? Especially one with his own mysterious past!
This is a very exciting start for a new series and I can’t wait to read the other books as they come out!

"Spellbound in His Arms" was one exciting book! It was fun and had all the components that I love: romance, excitement and mystery with Corfu for the backdrop. I loved the chemistry between Jackie and Michael. There's nothing like a fiery and passionate love right from the start, but on top of that it wasn't just about the romance. That's my favorite part of any story - mixing it up and having the romance within the story. Great book! I can't wait for more from this author.

I like romance and I love mysteries, so I was intrigued by the blurb. I also liked the fact that the novel takes place on the beautiful Greek island of Corfu. The book was a refreshing, wonderful surprise. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this fantastic book and highly recommend it.

Mystery and magic blended with romance and adventure created a very interesting plot and I kept on turning pages. The characters were fascinating and I am looking forward for the next book in the series...
