Ruth Glick (born 1942) is a best-selling author of healthy cookbooks and has also written dozens of romantic suspense romance novels under the pen name Rebecca York.

Ruth earned a B.A. in American Thought and Civilization from George Washington University and an M.A. in American Studies from the University of Maryland. Although she always wanted to become a writer, Glick was convinced that her lack of spelling skills meant that her goal was unattainable. As a stay-at-home mother, she took a community college course to help her choose a career. The course made it very clear that writing was her primary interest. Glick began writing articles for newspapers and magazines, but after several years decided to try writing fiction. Her first book, a kids' science fiction book, was finally purchased by Scholastic Inc..

Since then, Glick has become a highly successful author of over 50 romantic suspense and paranormal novels. Many of her novels are published under the Harlequin Intrigue line, and in June 2003, she became one of the first authors published under Berkley's new Sensation imprint. Before 1997, she often collaborated with Eileen Buckholtz and Kathryn Jenson.

Glick also is a highly regarded author of cookbooks focusing on healthy eating. She sometimes hires trained chefs to test the recipes that she creates, and makes sure that every recipe is tested at least three times before it appears in one of her cookbooks.

Glick is the head of the Columbia Writers Workshop. She and her husband, Norman Glick, live in Columbia, Maryland, where Ruth collects rocks, and enjoys cooking, walking, reading, gardening, travel, and Mozart operas. They have two grown children, Elissa and Ethan, and two grandsons (Jesse and Leo).

The eleventh story in the Decorah Security 2.0, Eugenia Beaumont hires security from Decorah after things start happening outside her restaurant. Rafe Gascon, a man with psychic powers is sent by Frank Decorah. There is drama, danger, suspense, voodoo, murder, mystery and a second chance. The story kept me turning pages. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Loved it!

As I live in New Orleans, I found myself mapping out the events unfolding. Scary, exciting reading as everyone knows voodoo is alive and well here. The story is about a woman who needs help with trouble affecting her restaurant, and hires a detective agency to assist, only the agent who assists is the boy, now a man whom she has always loved. Together they solve the questions plaguing them, and the results are as hot as a New Orleans summer.

This is my first book in the series and now I will be going back to read them all. Eugenia and Rafe grabbed me from the beginning. Their romance is sweet and steamy. And has the perfect dose of angst. There is suspense and twists. Plenty of action. The story is fast paced. I read this in one sitting.

They had a life and love together in the past. They separated but never forgot each other. Then she needed security and contacted his firm without knowing he was employed there. Their connection was still there, and working together to keep her safe makes their bond deeper.

This is a wonderful, suspenseful read with an original story line that keeps the reader guessing.

You never get over your first love, that blazing teen age introduction to adulthood. Eugenia Beaumont and Rafe Gascon certainly didn’t. Now, eight years later, Eugenia’s safety is in Rafe’s hands. Rafe, employed by an elite and mysterious security company, has been sent back to The Big Easy to find out who is threatening her restaurant, the dream she’s worked so hard to make reality.

Problems overlie dangers superimposed on supernatural events. Eugenia has capitalized on the New Orleans setting and history to hold voodoo events in her successful new restaurant, and Rafe must find the source of the dangers Eugenia faces. To the intriguing mix of jealousy, old grudges, family fights, and voodoo, he adds a talent of his own: psychometry. Holding various objects shows him a number of unsettling incidents but not who is responsible, so Rafe and Eugenia must figure out who did what and whether each is friend or foe.

I really enjoyed this book and recommend it highly. (Note, please: I’m a tough grader and wish I had the option of 4 ½ stars, which this book really deserves.)

At Risk by Rebecca York was not as good as some of her other books. I still liked it but was disappointed. This story starts out with Rafe Gascon looking into muggings of patron of the restaurant Chez Eugenia. Eugenia and Rafe know each other from their youths when the fell in love doing everything but consumating their love. He left to go into the service each disappointed with letters never received. Eugenia had a voodoo ceremony at the restaurant with voodoo priestess Calista. A man, Villars dies and later is determined to have been murdered with voodoo poison. Detective Cumberland has his eye on Rafe and Eugenia for the murder and harasses them. Rafe discovers who's behing the mugging and attempted arson at the restaurant. Between Rafe and Eugenia they find the murderer and attempt to get evidence.

A really good fast paced action romantic suspense. Eugenia owns a restaurant and to increase business she agreed to have a voodoo priestess perform once a month. Recently two of her customers have been mugged so she called in a security company. Naturally out of all the people she did not want to see, they sent ex-boyfriend. His first night on the job, right at the beginning of the voodoo performance, a guest drops dead. After the cops finish interviewing her and she gets home to get a little rest, someone starts sneaking around, so who does she call? Yep, hot hunk, yummy ex. ICK, chicken guts and stuff! Eugenia doesn't really believe in gris-gris, but she has lived in New Orleans long enough to worry! Someone wishes really bad stuff for her.

I won the book during an online release party for another author. This is my first Decorah Security book I have read but I will be reading more.

At Risk was a decent book with a fun plot. Voodoo storylines always fascinate me and this was no exception. Unfortunately I think the story fell short of what it could have been. With bland dialogue and unforgettable characters, I didn't find much "oomph" in this story. Eugenia and Rafe did have chemistry and some steamy sex scenes, but outside of the bedroom I didn't find their tiptoeing around the past very endearing. While the reason they were kept apart for all those years was believable, the fact that they wouldn't discuss it much while spending so much time together irked me. I did really enjoy voodoo priestess Calista, she was the most intriguing character in this novel. All in all it wasn't a bad book, it just didn't have that "something special" to make it a great read.

At Risk has an interesting cast of characters that starts with leads Rafe Gascon and Eugenia Beaumont, but includes many intriguing secondary characters. It starts with a great setup - a voodoo ceremony at a New Orleans restaurant ends with a man dead, possibly murdered, and everyone who'd been present is a suspect. The suspense builds as you go along with Rafe and Eugenia on a wild ride as they unravel the reasons for the crime, and rekindle a romance that ended badly many years before. They're both easy to root for, but they face plenty of problems with no easy solution. This is a really fun ride!

Short in length but a better plot then some of the previous novellas in the series. Character development is minimal, but sufficient for the story length, sex scenes are short and told via innuendo Vs long descriptive text. Stand alone story complete in one novella, can be read without reading ay of the previous novellas in the series.

This is a Kindle freebie download. There's loads of information on New Orleans and there's a lot of background that makes you feel that the author really has don't her research. I like the concept of the Detective this with PSI powers. It's a pretty good mystery and I really enjoyed the book.
