Wynter's Vicious #1

Everybody Falls

Rate this book
At 25, Jax Wynter lost his life.
As the youngest member of America's number one rock band, Wynter's Vicious, Jax lived a life with no rules or responsibilities. At least until his older brother, founding member and vocalist, died in a fiery car crash. Jobless, clueless and deemed unfit to handle his own affairs, Jax must sober up, man up and adjust to living as a 'normal person' in the 'real world'.

At 24, Lacey Emerson found hers.
Shuffled between her bi-polar mom and her former hippie grandmother, Lacey had no choice but to become responsible at a young age. Her chaotic childhood, though, gave her the skills and determination to succeed when she inherited her grandmother's bakery. Her life was finally normal, real but very, very boring.

All it took was a five-point face plant to turn both their lives upside down.

From the author of Pole Dance, Human Hieroglyphix I & II and Tap Dance, comes the new novel, "Everybody Falls", Book One of Wynter's Vicious Series. Set in the beautiful town of Auburn, California and filled with a cast of quirky characters, it’s a story about learning to live, learning to love and learning to hold on when your brand of 'normal' comes undone.

Sometimes you have to fall from grace before you can fall in love.

My heart was beating so freaking fast. I could hear the murmurings of the crowd behind the curtain where I was hiding, that separated me from them.
It was time. Time for me to come out and talk with them, those people from Goodreads that had read my books, rated my books and that wanted to know the person behind the words.
I stepped my way carefully out onto the stage, my heartbeat the only sound my ears could hear.
"Hi," I mumbled into the microphone. "My name is Judy and I write as J.A. Hornbuckle."
Damn. My voice sounded as hesitant as I felt.
"Tha-thank you so much for your interest." I was fumbling. But, I'd done this before. The public speaking thingie. And I really hadn't ever been this nervous before. But, geesh, I'd had notes then.
Not now.
Deep breath, my mind instructed.
Okay, that I could do.
"I, ah, I don't know what to…uhm, I'm uncertain what I'm supposed to talk about," I began.
The fact that I couldn't see into the crowd was a problem. Talking to crowds is supposed to be like talking to other people. But I couldn't actually SEE the other people.
Crap.
Just start at the beginning.
"I started writing because of a migraine," I started, my voice reedy and thin even in the amplification of the microphone. "I'd read three crap books in a row and thought I could do better."
I cleared my throat which I hadn't realized beforehand would be captured by the speakers.
"Sorry," I mumbled and tried again.
"I read three books that convinced me that I could write better. I'm an avid reader. A voracious reader that consumed four to six fiction books a week. Three books, three crap books, meant that I had wasted fifty percent of my reading time. And I knew that I could do better, could write better."
The noise in the large room lessened as I spoke and I gained courage from that silence.
"As I laid on the floor of my walk-in closet because it, of all the rooms in my apartment, had no noise, no light, and with my frozen pack of corn on my head, thought of the book I might write."
I remembered that time of pain. Of hurting so bad that my stomach would roil, where every heartbeat was torture and I couldn't breathe without the air hurting my teeth.
"I started to think about Caitlin and Jake, about what was to become 'Pole Dance', and eventually I found that I could shove that pain to one side as I planned. I learned to stash a steno pad and pen in there with me and use my baby finger to hold the end of the steno pad and write in the dark."
I heard a couple of chuckles which made me bolder.
"I tried to capture the story on my computer in my 'dull roar' times. And, in a word? It was crap. I didn't know what I was doing. So I started to study. Read, absorbed. But you know what I found? Writing is like driving a car. You can read about driving, learning the rules of the road, reading about safety tips and precautions. But until you are actually behind the wheel? Oh, baby. Completely different story."
More laughs this time. My knees were steadier and I felt my voice strengthen.
I needed to finish up.
"My name is Judy. And I'm a new author who is learning by the seat of her yoga pants as she goes. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing my books. You mean a lot to me."
I smiled and waved into the glare that was hiding the group that had come to hear me speak.
Because I've never spoken so much and with such honesty from my heart at one time.

4.5 Stars. Really liked this one.

If you’ve been a J. A. Hornbucke fan you’ll notice that her writing seems to be evolving. Everybody Falls is her best bk yet.

Ok, just a word about that cover. I know you’ve noticed it. That cover shot makes the guys pecs look a little overblown…almost in a distorted kind of unattractive way. I was pleased to find out that seeing it close up on the Kindle it looks nothing like the shot on Goodreads or Amazon. The light on the cover from a distance just casts a weird shadow. Up close, the cover guy’s body shot is actually extremely attractive….downright HOT. Now that that’s out of the way on to the review.

Story starts off slow and at first I wasn’t sure exactly where the story was headed. Jax Wynter, the 25 yr old long haired, tattooed, bad boy rocker from the band Wynter’s Vicious, is home from rehab. He’s attending AA/NA meetings and trying to get his life back on track after the death of his rocker brother. Jax’s hard partying lifestyle and attempt at suicide following his brother’s death have taken its toll. He’s currently hiding out living on his grandmother’s farm in a little California town. The grandmother, Jax’s only surviving relative – OMG! You’re gonna love this little woman. Straight talking and sassy, Edie Dennison is a pistol. Some of the stuff she comes out with is just priceless. This loveable little granny who at times shows tough love but at others is endearingly sweet is a true heart warmer. Her and Dax’s relationship is wonderfully written.

Lacey, 24 yrs old, the heroine, also has had a bit of a rough life. She runs a bakery that her deceased grandmother left to her. Lacey’s mother is a piece of trash who falls into and out of Lacey’s life from time to time. Except for the mother, there's a fine group of side characters that are there to take Lacey’s back. One of the most loveable was Sarge, an aging ex-rocker who helps Lacy in the bakery. I loved Lacy, she’s a sweet, common sense kinda girl that needs Jax as much as he needs her.

Not to give anything away, it’s just too fun to watch it all unfold without any spoilers. There are several twists and turns with a bit of angst that keeps it moving along at a nice pace. This a very sweet love story. Everybody Falls has Jax/Lacey looking for hope, love and that bit of “magic” that makes it all special. Although it looks as if there may be more bks to Wynter’s Vicious, this is a single read with a wonderful HEA. Looking forward to the next one.

Jax Wynter has finished rehab and now is just taking it day to day to stay sober and find himself again, thanks to help from his Grandmother. The only bright spot in his day is seeing the beautiful woman on the steps of a bakery everyday drinking her coffee, she is a complete mystery but he is intrigued.

Lacey Emerson inherited her grandmothers bakery and has done her best to make her proud. She has seen the mystery jogger and when he unexpectedly lands at her feet, she can't help but be curious. Jax decides to take a chance asking Lacey out, but he knows he will have to divulge his identity. With everything looking up though, Jax is dealt a blow, is he strong enough to deal with it?

This was a different type of story for this author. I liked both characters but I thought it was a bit darker considering the subject matter. A tear jerker, you are rooting for Jax but he can be his own worst enemy. Liked that the story delved into both of their pasts and felt for Lacey, she did not have an easy life.

It had a great start. I love these type of stories where the rock n roll star moves into a town and the heroine does not know who he is. My other favorite part was that this girl came from an awful childhood and she inherited a bakery!!! I was so excited to read this. However, the writing and the story fizzled for me. I became bored and skimmed. Then at 85% or so when the hero is back to his old ways and says the most hurtful things to the heroine and she forgives him with a few words. Blah. I was done. I understand she sent the flowers back, but those took no effort for him to send. Those were weak apologies. I am a reader that loves a good grovel, but I think this one was weak. Also, I think that the hero would say those hurtful words to the heroine again. I think he meant them. I did not feel the pain from the hero for what he said and did.

I might be biased but I was a beta for this book so much love was put forward to assist this awesome book.

I won't retell the story but yes - this is another Rocker. But Jax is different ... And I advise you dive in to read what he is all about.

Lacey is sweet, lovable and sort of ... Lonely.

There worlds fall together in an odd way and the connection is dynamic.

The good. The bad. The sad and the HEA are all there. Buy it. Read it. Love it!!

Inconsistency. That's my vibe at the end of reading this book.

I loved the beginning of the book and their initial meeting and I believe that scene and conversation wise, both spoken and unspoken was great. It was structured just right and had me entertained and interested, but then about 34% into this novel, it fell of course especially the conversations and I was a little taken aback until I realize it's a trend. It's good and then it gets a little bad bordering on awful and corny then it picks right back up ... anyway, you get use to it.

I never understood why Lacey's POV was done in first person and the rest of the story was done in a narrative format, as to get in other people's POV, including Lacey's. Still, it wasn't bad and I appreciated it, as it cleared up some questions. Even if I still don't understand the media fascination with a washed up teen rocker ... but there is more to come so who knows ...

I soon realize that this is the theme, as we don't know what to expect from chapter to chapter, if it's gonna be a good one or one of the corny's.

I love their first 'sex' without penetration scene (so formal of me ... :). To be inside Jax's mind was hilarious as this was a completely different take from your usual rock star novels. He was inexperienced with a belt of experience (confusing indeed!) It just went to show you that random sex is completely different from a meaningful relationship. I was pleased to get some of his first also :)

Sometimes, I felt like he was 18 instead of 26 and seeking approval for everything. I literally felt like he was hopeless. At times it was endearing and sometimes sad. It showcased his constant struggle to find his place in life and I got all of that without reaching the end of this novel. If anything, the author got across her point across for the character.

I thought the author swore too much on food , specifically chocolate and treats, and it quickly became annoying. I understand her not being religious and wanting to pass off this trait on her characters, but that doesn't excuse constantly making it known and swearing on condiments and the like. Plus the word 'crikey' got annoying fast!

I loved Lacy's character and love the relationship she had with Jack and Jax. While I never felt as strong a connection as they felt and never got the on/off of their relationship, I loved them together and the awkward sex conversations they had. Lacey's strength was also admirable and Jax' slight lack of a filter kept things interesting. He was never one to beat around the bush.

Speaking of sex conversations, Edie was a darling and nothing that came out of her mouth was ever expected. If I was to have a grandma, I would want her to be just like Edie.

There was a certain comfort about this story where you liked the characters and the story line, but there was still something missing and occasionally it slid into being boring or uneventful to just downright unrealistic, annoying and everything in between. (Queue up Ricki and Turner's meeting for 'Most Unrealistic Meeting Ever' ... )

I can honestly say I am confused as to how I feel about this story. I love the characters and the premise especially with regards to a bunch of rockers, but it still needs some work and while I didn't see it needing a part 2, I would still read it due to the comfort it provides ... idk, maybe it was the rainy weather that I read it in, but I liked it even if occasionally it confused and annoyed me.

Refreshing romance about a Ex-Rocker's fall from fame.

Jax Wynter is a recovering drug user. He was once a member of America's number one rock band, Wynter's Vicious. And since the age of 14, he's never had to pay bills, clean up or answer to anybody.

Everything came tumbling down when his brother died in a car crash, drugged up to the eyeballs. Now he's living with his wise and crazy Gram, he's doing jobs around the house for her, running everyday and attending daily AA/NA meetings. He's on the road to recovery, now he has to adjust to living as a 'normal person' in the 'real world', but without the fame, he doesn't know who he is anymore.

Lacey Emerson is a gentle, reserved and kind hearted girl. She has bi-polar mom and had no choice but to become responsible at a young age. Her Grandmother passed away, and she now runs her bakery.

Jax's Gram told him he needed appropriate running shoes, who goes running in a pair of Chucks? Least he's stopped running whilst wearing a leather jacket. Luckily for him, those Chucks get him to fall at Lacey's feet. Jax is enamoured by Lacey, she's kind, she's sweet, she's an Angel and he can't resist. But should he be getting into a relationship with Lacey when he hasn't fully recovered? When he doesn't know who the real him is?

I loved this book, I enjoyed the fact that Jax was so unsure of himself, he seemed so lost and innocent. Good supporting characters. I really did feel the heartbreak when there was some, and I enjoyed the HEA.

“I'm a bag of shit, Lace, and I know you know it.”... “But, Baby, I want to be your bag of shit.”

“So, I’m supposed to help you sort your shit out?” I asked, and could feel the skin of my forehead tighten as my eyebrows raised over the top of my mug, clenched in both of my hands.
“Never, my love,” he said, letting the air in his lungs go. “I'll sort. You spread.”

“Everybody falls”... “It's the standing up from it, the getting over the fall that's so hard.”

Writing style: 8/10
Characters: 9/10

My star ratings:
1* Complete trash

3* Half decent, usually down to personal preferences

I'm really starting to fall...like FALL fall for JA Hornbuckle. Up to this point, all her books have been great reads and this one is no exception.
Wynter's Vicious just lost it's lead singer Denny in a horrible car accident. His little brother/band mate Jax/Jack/Jackson/Hotstuff/Honey/Slugger/The Eternal Teenager can't take it and tries to off himself in the ocean.
He's sent to live with his grandmother at their family owned farm while he completes his probation and mandatory NA/AA meetings.
During this difficult time of re-awakening/finding himself he meets our heroine Lacy, the local bakery shop owner.
He literally falls at her feet...face first. Let me stop her and just say I love how JA makes her couples meet. This isn't the first time a funny/clumsy/painful fall or unusual way has brought two lovebirds together. I hope she keeps it up because it's starting to become something I look forward to in her books.
No one realizes who Jack is, even Lacy (even though she knows the band well).
In less than two days, this couple is hot and heavy and pretty much in love. Lacy finds out who Jack really is and thankfully doesn't stop this powerful love connection because of it.
Unfortunately, other people start figuring out that Jax is in town and they and paparazzi go crazy trying to find him. He takes Lacy to his grandmother's farm house to hide out with him because, thanks to an unknown source, the paparazzi find out they are sleeping together.
This all in itself is a crazy whirlwind. From them trying to hide, to continuing to fall in love, him struggling helping a band mate get out of trouble, forming a new band, all the way to take care of his ailing grandmother, have this couple reeling to figure out their place together.
Its very well written and has a great flow. Super funny parts and extremely sad parts. There is a lot that happens with the side characters and sweet surprises for our heroine and her favorite right hand man at the bakery.
This is a story of true TRUE love, overcoming your addictions and finding yourself. Read this book! You won't be sorry. Then go back and read all her other books. THEN review her stuff and hound her to write more. Write quicker...more and quicker. Then I'll sit back and read. Read, read, read. LOL! Thanks JA, looking forward to more from you!

I've read a previous novel by this author that featured an alpha male. Her writing in that book reminded me of Kristen Ashley. This book was totally different. It features a jaded rock star Jax and a sweet homely girl Lacey.

Jax was in a rock band with his brother from an early age and gained the tag 'The Eternal Teenager'. His life fell apart when his brother died, Jax turned to drink and drugs and tried to kill himself. After treatment, he is sent to live with his Grandma Edie (a great character).

Although Jax is 26, he is quite boy like. He is definitely not an alpha male. I was a little disappointed in this at first but then the author wrote Jax so well and explained his background that it made sense that he was an immature 26 year old due to the life he had led with the band. Jax is also sexually immature. He has never taken his time to 'get a woman off'. He was too used to groupies who would just 'got him off'! I wasn't entirely convinced by this scenario but I suppose it could happen if you start having sex at an early age with groupies!

One day when he is out running he is busy looking out for the girl he sees every morning sat on her porch and he trips and literally falls at her feet. She helps him and from that moment on it is insta-love. I don't like insta-love in novels. The relationship between Jax and Lacey moves at an alarming rate! In less than a week they are professing their love and are acting like an old married couple!

The story is far from perfect but it kept me interested. I felt Lacey had a bit of a personality change at certain times in the book. I felt the 'fall out' could have been written better and that the 'make up' took a bit too long considering in the timeline of the book their whole relationship had lasted 3 weeks! If the author had taken out the insta-love part and written it with a different pace so that their relationship was slow and had lasted longer, I would have been more convinced of their love and how hurt Lacey was with what happened.

That said, I did enjoy this book. It reminded me more of a YA/NA novel than an adult novel but I loved Jax and Lacey and his Gramps and all the other characters.

I read this book last night, finished about 2:00 a.m. and couldn't stop thinking about it today.

Jack & Lacey's relationship started out so sweet and loving, two lonely people getting together and learning to trust each other. Lacey was such a sweetheart and so supportive of Jack and then his Grams. She was the best thing that ever happened to him and he fell for her so hard and so fast and loved that she was not very sexually experienced (she was very insecure about this and embarrassed about her crazy slutty Mom). He also loved that she didn't recognize him at first and liked him as a person, not the famous rocker. They were in love and were so supportive of each other.

But then he tore her heart out after his Grams died and he fell off the wagon, getting high and drunk and turning into a total ass. He said the MEANEST things to her, throwing all of the insecurities she had told him about back in her face, she knew things were wrong but was sticking by him anyway until he did that to her. She was running out of his house after he said those horrible things to her and then he basically told her to leave anyway. Lacey ran into a slutty looking woman when she ran out of his house that night and their conversation made it seem as if that woman was having sex with him (later in the book it explains that she was just bringing him drugs). But she thought he was cheating on her in addition to just completely breaking her heart.

I couldn't really get past that. Yes, he said he was sorry, sent flowers, sang her a song, went back to rehab. But this whole situation needed more explanation for me. Did he know what he was doing and if so, WHY??? Being drunk and high obviously played a huge part in it but if he knew enough to think about chasing after her when the slutty woman brought him drugs, he obviously knew enough to know he hurt her big time. Plus, he DIDN'T chase after her that night.

I didn't feel like he explained what happened well enough, he just said he was pissed and hurt. I wanted to know if he was aware of what he was actually saying to her or if he was too drunk and high to realize what he was saying or who he was saying it to. If he was aware, he needed to do a LOT more groveling.

She admitted that she still loved him but after the hell he put her through, I feel like he should have spent more time proving himself to her before she took him back.

I just couldn't get past how badly he hurt her, I didn't feel like he redeemed himself. I wanted their HEA but it just came too easy for him. Hopefully the next book in the series will show him treating her like a Queen.

**Thanks to the author/ publisher for providing me with an arc copy via RABT in exchange for my opinion**

Everybody Fall had an awesome start. Including as of the fun things that I adore in a book. It was a cute love story with broken people, also it gave me the angsty butterfly feeling that I enjoy. Unfortunately as the story progressed everything lost its sparked and all of the ooey gooey feelings that I developed went away.

Jackson ( Jax, Jack, Hot Stuff) Wynter ex rock star is suffering from the lost of his band mate and brother’s death. He’s officially taking a time out for fame. Now staying of his Grams farm while he gets it together. His days were pretty mundane until he fell head over heels literally for the pretty girl in the bakery Lacey.

Lacey Emerson owner of the local bakery left to her by her deceased grandma who raised her because of the absent mother who was bat sh(bad word)t crazy bipolar. Lacey had a way with words for reasons beyond my comprehension instead of using 4 letter words she would do this annoying food thing ie. chocolate sake, Holy chocolate.

Jax and Lacey’s romance was a complete insta-love. After their first encounter they were pretty much inseparable, within a week they were full blown in love. For some reason it didn’t feel authentic. I will admit that these two had great chemistry, but their sex life seemed new. It was neither one knew what they were doing. It was weird. Ooohh their dirty talk umm lets just say it needed so work and it was way too much talking.

Everybody Falls narration was very perplexing for me. While Lacey and what seemed to be all of the secondary characters story was told from their POV, Jax’s POV was third person.

Ms. Hornbuckle’s writing style was very vivid, but at times a tad too detail which caused the story to drag. Towards the end I found myself skimming through which I personally frown upon. I should mention that it had an ADD feel to it, at times I had to reread some parts to make sure I didn’t miss anything.

Overall I enjoyed Everybody Falls, but I didn’t fall in love with it. Despite everything I will probably read any further parts of this series just to see where this is headed. As for recommendations if you are a fan of rock stars, broken people and insta-love than you should definitely add this to your TBR list.

DNF. ugh this one was kinda boring. It was pretty okay, but boring. Mostly cause I the characters were.

First of all, if Jax was a player, how did he transition so fast.

Then, Lacey was so quiet in the beginning and then she transitioned into someone who was so sexual and stuff. I just didn't see their transitions.

Unfortunately, this book wasn't as great as it sounded. All those incosistent, badly written parts of this book ruined those that I had started to like. It's a love/hate relationship, but I'm not going to put a higher rating this time.

BLOG TOUR ON MY BLOG July 28th:
Review + Except
http://pleaseanotherbook.tumblr.com/p...

Holy white chocolate covered pretzels, he was one gorgeous hunk with awesome eyes.
His eyes.
Those lickable, chocolate, freakingly sinful eyes that talked a language so deep it was almost, yet not quite, understandable.

Buona lettura guys!

This started out strong and I thought it could be great. But then it felt rushed and became clear it was going nowhere interesting. It’s a shame because the writing isn’t bad but it just doesn’t have any substance.
Also can’t get onboard with people who fall in such deep clearly unbreakable love so fast. Also some undertones of misogyny which I’m just not here for.

I don't know why the first scenes reminded me of Silver Linings. Maybe it's because Jax was running on the first scene, and he was trying to get himself a new life. You can feel his struggle, and that somehow, he made it through the days alive. At a young age of 25, he had lost his brother, his career and was living under his grandma's roof. It was the death of his brother that had brought him to the brink. When he finally checked into rehab, and months later was discharged under the care of his grandmother - things started to change. He's now trying to be normal, remain normal in the real world.

Lacey, on the other hand, was forced to grew up early. Her mother was suffering from bipolar disorder, not to mention, she's constantly high and paraded a lot of boyfriends in front of her, Lacey was forced to be the grown up in their household. Her not-so-nice childhood became her inspiration to make her life better, especially when she inherited her grandmother's bakery. Everything was in place, but something else was lacking.

Their first meeting? Totally EPIC! (And I'm really sorry I laughed, kinda rude, but it was pretty funny!)

He was already warned that being involved with someone when he's still 'healing' is not wise. But the pull between them is just too potent to ignore. It was refreshing to be with someone who doesn't know him, who wants him for him. Lacey is that. She wanted Jack, and not Jax. She could make him laugh, feel these totally foreign emotions that was new to him and oh, before I forget, she made him hot for him. She didn't even have to do anything! But what if Lacey found out about his secret? Would she still stay with him?

Jax may have lost everything in this world when his career spiraled down, but he has his grandmother. And she was really, really amazing! His relationship with her is probably the only thing that kept him sane before he met Lacey. She helped him stay grounded and gave him all those 'wise advice' before his date with Lacey:

"Be yourself, don't use too much spit when you stick your tongue in her mouth, and always use a condom."

Don't you just love her???!!! :) She's my favorite among all characters!!! So when he lost her, its no wonder his life went down the drain, and not even Lacey could keep him up. Suddenly their love was not enough, he wanted to be alone, wallow himself in grief and pity. Lacey wanted to be there for him, but he kept pushing her away. She didn't mind at first, until he said some things that struck Lacey - it was hurtful, insulting, and at this point in the book I totally hated him. How can he do that to her? I thought he loved her?

When the grief finally subsides, or when he decides to straighten up his life, can he make it up to her? Or would he allow himself to be swallowed whole by grief and once again be drowned in drugs and booze?

Wow. I have not expected that the novel would turn out that way. I was surprised, mesmerized, and heartbroken by the turn of events. Who would have thought that this novel can be so emotional? I cried, laugh, touched, fell in love, got my heart broken to the point that I never thought they two would have their HEA. Just like their first meeting, Everybody falls is an EPIC read! My first JA Hornbuckle novel and I'm totally blown!

Wow - This book was pretty deep :)
Ok maybe not f-ed up and turning your insides around through-out the whole book - but that ending just gets ya ... in a really good way :)

Jackson Wynter's - aka Jax - ie - Jack - a man of many names -
He's a great guy - but has a few struggles in life - After his brother's death, Jax's Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll life hit rock bottom.
The courts ordered him into rehab, then took all his money and assets away, and handed him over to his really sweet Grans, Eddie.

Jax is trying to make this start over, but he's still holding on to the thought of being without his brother, without his band, but he's trying non-the-less. One of the ways to get the drugs out of his system, he needs exercise daily - so every monring on his run through this small town, he runs past the bakery - Lacy's Backery - and every morning, he sees the beautiful girl sitting on the steps watching the trees, after a few days, she would finally acknowledge him with a little wave.
And then just when Jax decided to make his move, BAM! Faceplant right into the asphalt at her feet.

Lacy, a sweetheart of a girl. She didn't have a great childhood, but she made the best out what she did have.
She missed her Grandmother, but was left the bakery, along with everything else that her Grandmother owned. Lacy loved to bake. But most of all, Lacy was a good girl, and as she ran down the steps to help this strange but familuar guy -

Road rash is the worse, but Jack was a trooper as Lacy cleaned him up.
She couldn't place how she knew him, but she felt that instant connection with him.

When Boots came to pick him up, Jax couldn't get his mind off her. but Boots made sure to remind him that Jax couldn't/shouldn't start a relationship until he was fully clean - at least a year. But Jax wasn't going to stand for that.
He wanted Lacy, and that was the end of it...

Their relationship started quickly, and their hearts grew stronger every day -
Eddie, Jax's Grams is the sweetest woman, and you have to admire any hard rocker guy who is afraid of his own grandmother's wrath :)
Eddie is easy to fall in love with, and as soon as Lacy met her, Eddie knew that what Lacy and Jax had was real.

I wouldn't call Jax a hard core Rocker - in fact, he's pretty much the opposite in this book. He has manners, he swears.. a lot, but it's not in a foul way though.

The little blips in the story just seemed to add that much more. The story was sweet, compelling and just all around a great read. I really enjoyed this book :)

3.5 stars for this easy going rock romance the emphasize more on 'romance' and less on 'rock'

I am a fan of J.A. Hornbuckle and I was excited to see this new book. So I settled down to enjoy and whilst I did enjoy I didn't love it as much as her other books.

The characters are very likeable and easy to engage with right down to the mother from hell. Grams is adorable as is Sarge but what I struggled with a little was the timeline, what I was reading felt like they had been together for ages and yet it was only a week. This is one of those books where they get together very early on and you wonder where it could from there, well in this case it is a plodder, you were living in their little bubble of escape in the backwaters of Auburn, it was engaging but also bordering on a tad 'itchy feet' sydrome when your hoping something is going to sock you between the eyes and knock you head off your shoulders; this isn't a book that does that. Towards the end was a section that'll give you palpatations and leave you with a gaping mouth and a teary eye. And I have to say getting to that point made it all more worthwhile, it really needed that injection of drama.

This is mostly about Jax coming to terms with handling life, his brothers death and beginning to take responsibilites for himself. Leaving the rocker Jax behind and learning to live with Jackson Wynter. Something that's not easy to do when you have never had to make decisions, or be sober or drug free.

So if you like rock romances with toned down drugs and rock and roll but hottie sex, set in a small town that is peaceful with normal everyday characters that are endearing then you will really enjoy this book. If your after the whole in your face sex, drugs and rock and roll then this is probably not going to be for you.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!

I do love a good rock star story and for the most part Everybody Falls was right up my street! Jackson 'Jax/Jack/Jacks' Wynter is the messed up bad boy and former guitarist from rock band Wynter's Vicious. Following the death of his older brother and bandmate Denny, Jax is out of rehab and living with his Grams. Lacey inherited a bakery from her grandmother and is trying to build a quiet life for herself away from her destructive and abusive mother.

Everybody Falls is a good example of how removed certain celebrities are from everyday life. Jax was a teenager when the band became successful and is completely clueless when it comes to simple things like washing up, grocery shopping and paying bills. Lacey on the otherhand is organised and capable, she has had to look after her selfish mother for most of her life - I liked them as a couple because they balance and help each other.

In many ways they are the antithesis of one another; Jax is every bit your bad boy musician. He's used to groupies and not caring about girls, whilst Lacey lacks experience with guys and is almost afraid of men.

Jax's Grandmother or 'Grams' was a great edition to the book. She provided some great one-liners and was often the source of both the funniest and most poignant moments.

I was really moved when I found out where the title came from (you'll understand when you read it) and I felt it provided an interesting message and commentary on life.

There is a fair amount of sexy times/smut, so this one's definitely more of a NA or even Adult book. Some of the sex scenes were a little awkward and the dirty talk scene had me in hysterics (I'm not sure if that was the point) but I enjoyed the story and will definitely read the next book in the series.

4 Stars in my Sky!

Jax has come home to his grandmothers after the death of his brother. They were one of the biggest rock bands in the world for the last decade. But the drugs and fast living took their toll and Jax's bother. When he trilled to kill himself , he was put in his grandmothers care after his stink in rehab. What Jax learns is that he never had control of his own life and his brother had spent the last 10 years telling him how to live. He is finally learning to live his own life. In the steps to sobriety Jax begins running and everyday runs past the most gorgeous women he has ever seen. When he finally gets up the nerve to wave, he crashes to the ground right at her feet.

Lacey can't believe this runner has just fallen face first at her feet or the mess he has made of himself. She invites him in to her bakery so she can help patch him up. Jax wants nothing more than Lacey, it is that simple for him from this moment on. Lacey cannot believe this gorgeous man wants to get to know her. Their relationship starts slowly, Jax is unsure how to have a relationship and Lacey is very cautious after her chaotic life. This book has a whole cast of old rockers, dirty talking grannies, and some "oh no you didn't moments" I felt about three quarters of the way, the story floundered a bit , but it pulls out in the end. Not sure what a second book would be but actually not interested in reading her best friends story if that's it.

This book was a good read, funny, charming, witty, and then there was Jax, "his wood was another sign of progress; another sign that he and his body were waking up." Jax I really did like him, he's never been in certain situations and when things hit him they hit him hard, "God, she was a goddess and he was stuck like a goddamn statue, unsure of what to do, what to day." He's even considerate, "not this way, baby, okay?" he murmured. "I want you. But, not in the back of a truck by the side of the road." Lacey and Jax have great chemistry they're so playful, "uhm, didn't you tell me that your Grams said you followed directions pretty good?" she asked. "So, you learned that particular skill, your whole tongue thingie from porn movies?" He's also very passionate and the things he says can get your blood roaring, "so, are we done talking, Lace?" he growled. "Because I want to use my mouth but I can't taste the secret honey of my favorite baker and talk at the same time." Well worth the read ladies!

I am a fan of J.A. Hornbuckle. I like her writing style and she writes some pretty steamy stuff. This book was a bit of a departure from the Tap Dance or HH series. Jack/Jax seems more vulnerable and less assured than any of this author's other male leads, which I found refreshing. There was an almost child-like innocence in a lot of his reactions and the way he dealt with his emotions. I like that J.A. Hornbuckle isn't "writing by the numbers". Each of her characters have their own personality. The heroine, Lacey, doesn't seem to be quite as well developed as Jack. By that I mean that Jack's actions and behaviour, good or bad, are better explained than Lacey's. I love books and sometimes I read to escape, and this is exactly the kind of book I like to fall into. If you enjoyed the other books by this author you will like this one as well.

I was so excited to finally get a copy of this book. I was hooked from the beginning but by 40% I was struggling to stay interested. A promising start but there wasn't enough angst to keep me interested so I found myself reluctantly trying to finish the book off. However, by 90% I was fully engaged again but too little too late, before I knew it, I was reading the epilogue. While I was happy that this was not another cliffy book, the ending wrapped up too quick for me. Jax didn't grovel enough IMO but I cant say I'm too disappointed since they found their HEA.

Personally, I love alot of angst in my romance reads - Everybody falls was a 3star read for me. It started out with a lot of potential, fizzled out a bit and then ended with a bang but wrapped up too quickly that it left me somewhat unsatisfied.

4.5 stars. OMG, Loved Loved GRAM! She was Jax's rock! Lacey wow such a beautiful girl that had a very rough life. Jax's story, broke my heart, even though he was going through things, he was a teenager in a man's body. A Rocker who had the most important in his life to help him out, his "Gram". She was blunt, didn't take shit, had put her foot down. Sarge even though he was a true Harley Davidson-Rocker, he still was a big teddy bear. Some part of this book was so comical through Jax point of view I have to admit I was really upset with Jax, in one part of the book he was a MEGA-A*(*&%! But at end everything matters. Bravo to the author a truly good book.

Good story.

Only thing I thought was a little out there was how quickly he confessed his 'love' for her. They'd hardly known each other two days yet her fallen in love with her. Don't get me wrong, if you know the person or have tried to find things out about them then yea, I could see that happening. But he only knew her age and a few other things.

I love his pet names for her they were very sweet.

I hated how he threw her mother's past back in her face because he was grieving. The things he said to her and called her were disgusting, and I'm suprised she forgave him so easily. I would've had to work on the trust before I slept with him.

But, it was a good little read.

3.5 STARS. This book started off really good. I enjoyed the story and the interaction between the MC's until it got to 84%. When the book should have been winding down for my HEA was when the author threw a wrench in the entire story and added conflict when there was no need at all for it. That really ticked me off. They were such a sweet couple and the stupid conflict just messed up the sorrow I felt when Edie died. It should never have happened. It would have been a solid 5 stars for me if this had not happened.

I'm just going to throw this out there....any book that has a sassy grandma in it is bound to be good. This book was no exception. I fell head over hills in love with Jax. . . aka "HOTSTUFF". When a man literally falls at your feet you really have no choice. I felt all of his pain and even when he was being an asshat I was still feeling his sorrow.

The storyline was entertaining and the drama that surrounded Lacey was unexpected. I wasn't a big fan of the ending, I wanted more drama but you cant be that mad with an HEA!!!!

It was a really good story. Most books I read in 36 hours or less with no breaks. This book seemed to require breaks. I would read 3-4 chapters and feel perfectly content to set it aside for the rest of the day. It wasn't that I didn't care about the story, I did. Just felt like it was a good place to stop and smell the roses and appreciate this book a lot more. The characters are likable and also believable. I never once thought "how cliche" when reading this. It's just a sweet love story with plenty of normal, realistic drama. I definately recommend taking the time to read.

This is one of the best books I have read in a while. I have read J.A's Hellion series and loved them all. Everybody Falls grabbed my attention right from the beginning. I loved how Jack was so vulnerable and almost innocent like in his "new" life. Lacey was perfect for Jack in every way. I felt their chemistry, but loved how they fit together on such a deeper level. The secondary characters were interesting as well. Gram was my favorite, with Sarge as a close second. I really hope there will be more books in this series.
