Summary
We left the last book with everyone rezombified and the kids, Zack, Madison, Zoe, Ozzie, and Rice, trying to find a way to save the world again. We pick up this book with the kids in the vegan van that they stole, on their way to Canada to retrieve Madison’s cousin Olivia. Olivia is the only person left that they know, who can still unzombify people because of her vegan diet. They have to go across a frozen lake to get to Canada and while trying to save her dog, Twinkles, Madison’s arm gets bitten by a zombie and she becomes zombified. Once they reach Olivia’s house, they find that Olivia and her family are on vacation to Buncos Fun World in Florida. Police arrive at the house and recognize the kids as the ones who previously saved the world. The police offer them a private plane flight to Florida so they can save the world yet again. While on the plane zombie Madison bites the pilot, so the plane goes down and lands in Bunco’s Fun World. Once they find Olivia they unzombify Madison. They find a safe place in the cafeteria and Rice starts on making a zombie antidote. Olivia’s family is zombified and trapped in the walk-in freezer so they decide to use them as guinea pigs. The antidote Rice made ends up turning the family into super-zombies who can communicate with each other and are super strong! While trying to escape the super zombies they find Bunco himself hiding in his office. They go to Bunco’s gumball making factory still being chased by the super zombies. Rice tries make another antidote using the gumballs, but soon finds that the ingredient that turned Olivia’s family into super zombies, was already in the gumballs. This caused all the zombies who chased them from Fun World to turn into super zombies. Now the kids have to find a way to un-super-zombify their new enemies.
Review
I loved this book like all the other ones in this series. However, I did like this book better than the previous one because I feel like more happened in this one than the last one. I like that we get to meet more characters instead of characters who just come and go. Even though Olivia’s family is zombified throughout the book, they are a VERY big part of the book and I’m glad to get to meet them once they are no longer zombies. Olivia is a great character because even though her a Madison are similar and so close, they still have their differences in personalities and still argue like real family does. We get to see their differences especially when looking at the way that they dress. While Madison is very girly and trendy, and has the blonde hair/blue eyes combo, we’re introduced to Olivia by her dark clothing, dark hair, and dark eyebags. I like that this book has jokes in it that kids and older people can understand and laugh to, and the fact it has some bigger words that kids can learn and others can understand. This means that the book is perfect for middle school level readers, which is great because that’s his target audience! The kids always were quick to come up with a plan when something inevitably ruined theirs or go in the way. Hey were quick on their feet and good problem solvers. I recommend this book to anyone who likes zombie shows or short books or honestly any middle schooler. This was my favorite book series in middle school so I will always recommend it to anyone this level or even higher, maybe not a book for kids younger than middle school but I bet some would enjoy having their parents read it to them.
3 questions
One of my questions f course is, what is going to happen in the next book?
How will the kids find a way to cure the super zombies and return them back to normal?
And if their last antidote was only temporary, how will they ensure the next one will be permanent?
