"Nothing makes us so lonely as our secrets." - An adage that Finn Gallagher learns the hard way when Tamsyn Masters arrives on his doorstep looking for her mother. Determined to protect his beloved foster parents, Finn decides that Tamsyn cannot be allowed to discover the truth. To keep the secret, he sets out to seduce her but quickly realizes that there is more to Tamsyn than meets the eye, and his lies threaten to destroy their new-found relationship.
Series note: This is book #4 in the series and is based on a plot point revealed in book #3. That said, the necessary details are revealed in this book, and it can be read as a standalone.
Unfortunately, this particular installment in the series fails to resonate mainly because Finn's actions are unforgivable and completely undermine an otherwise promising romance.
Tamsyn's life has fallen apart following the revelation that the mother she believed dead is actually alive. If this weren't bad enough, her fianće has betrayed her in the worst way imaginable. Given these circumstances, and the fact that Tamsyn is a sweet and giving person, Finn's lies are all the more egregious, and are only compounded when Tamsyn . It is impossible to believe that any woman would be as forgiving as Tamsyn in this situation.
Overall, even Yvonne Lindsay's engaging writing style cannot redeem this heartbreaking storyline.

I always enjoy Yvonne Lindsay’s books, and a while back I stumbled upon one of the books in her “The Master Vintners” mini-series. Needless to say, I had to catch up on the backlist. That being said, I was eagerly awaiting Tamsyn’s story. This is book 4 in the series about a family of vintners in Australia and New Zealand. As in all good romances, secrets abound, but in the end the H/h find their HEA. The book opens with Tamsyn realizing that her fiancé is certainly not the man she thought he was, so she decides to get away from her life for a while and heads for New Zealand to finally solve the mystery of her mother’s disappearance so long ago. Upon arriving at an address connected to her mother, she meets Finn Gallagher at the front door. Without giving any spoilers, Tamsyn becomes aware that Finn knows something about her mother, but he is not forthcoming about what it is. As they fall in love, both Tamsyn and Finn are at odds between their relationships with Ellen Masters (Tamsyn’s mother) and their growing love for each other.
I thought this was a bittersweet story of finding love on the one hand and letting go with the other hand. The mystery of why Ellen Masters left Australia so very many years ago is finally revealed. Both Tamsyn and Finn are heartbroken at the end of the book, but a gift from Ellen brings them together, giving them their HEA.
While reading Ms. Lindsay’s latest book, I got the feeling that this was the last in this series, but happily that is not the case. There is at least another “The Master Vintners” books in the works!

What he did to her - what EVERYONE did to her - was completely monstrous, and unjustifiable.
"Protecting" a dying woman by keeping her daughter from her? Just a tiny bit of honesty and open communication, and both women would have had the closure they BOTH NEEDED. Evil.

I loved Tamsyn but hated everyone else. It pissed me off. I actually cried when they told her Ellen was dead. They stole an opportunity from her and I'm bitter about it.

Not a fan of this book in any way. First I just struggled to get into it. Then second then keeping Tamayn from being able to see her mom before she passed away was just wrong. I thought this would be a fast read but I had to drag myself through it.

Very good book. Both Tamsyn and Finn have to deal with both finding love that will define their futures and also be able to let go of their pasts. There was so much emotion between the two of them that I went through several tissues while reading it.
Tamsyn has had to deal with too many lies. Between her entire family lying to her about her mother and then her fiance cheating on her, she needs to get away. Tamsyn is now determined to find her mother. Her search has led her to the vineyard of Finn Gallagher. He claims that he doesn't know her mother, but offers to show her around the area while she searches. Their initial meeting had not gone well, but he seems to be more cooperative now. The attraction she feels for him is doing pretty good things for her confidence also. While she occasionally gets the feeling he's hiding something, she's really starting to fall for him. I really liked Tamsyn. While she seemed pretty impulsive, running off to New Zealand like she did, overall she is a smart and independent woman. I liked the way that she wasn't going to give up her search even though she hit a roadblock with Finn. Her determination led her to take a job working with local seniors and finding a place to live. When she discovers his deception she is devastated and even more so when she finds out the truth about her mother. I thought she was terrific all through the final stages of the book and really showed what a great person she was.
Finn's actions at the beginning showed how intent he was on protecting his foster parents. He was so sure that he was doing the right thing by deceiving Tamsyn. Everything he thought he knew about her made him think that she was selfish and spoiled. He was attracted to her, though, and thought that having a fling with her would satisfy him and keep her out of trouble too. But the more he got to know her, the more he realized that she was not the brat he had believed her to be. I felt a little bit bad for Finn because he had messed up so badly. I liked his protectiveness toward Ellen, but he probably should have made greater efforts to convince his foster father of the truth. I enjoyed the way that he got to know Tamsyn and realized that he was falling for her. He really understood her and it was killing him that he couldn't tell her the truth. I really enjoyed seeing the things they did together and how much alike they really were. I loved seeing the decision they made about Tamsyn's legacy from her mother.

I recommend this book.
I enjoyed this book by Yvonne. This book includes passion, laughs, heartache, secrets, and betrayal.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books first from “The Master Vintners” series.

Tamsyn has just found out everyone has been keeping secrets from her. Her mother (Ellen) that she was told was dead is in fact alive. So she travels to the last town her mother was known to be in to find her.
Finn wants to protect Ellen at all costs. Where was Tamsyn when her mother needed her and why did it take so long for her to come find her mother.
When Finn finds out Tamsyn thought she was dead he is torn in two as her is starting to like her but made a promise not to reveal her mother's location.
When Tamsyn finds out Finn has been lying to her will it rip them apart? Will she ever be able to forgive and trust him? Will she find her mother?
Seems that everyone puts Finn in a tough spot. Tamsyn has been lied to by those closest to her all her life. Makes it very hard to trust anyone. You can feel the chemistry pull these two together. Very good read.

Nice story. Takes place in New Zealand, where Lindsey lives. The heroine just learned the mother she thought was dead all her life isn't, and then catches her fiance in bed with his boyfriend, so she takes off on a spur of the moment trip to find mom. The hero was raised since 12 when his parents died by the heroine's mom and new spouse and thinks the first kids just didn't care about mom, so he's snotty when she first shows up. Oh, and mom's really sick so nobody wants to upset her. That complicated enough for you? Lindsey weaves her tale very well. I could see the crash coming way ahead of time and it still shook me when it hit. My only issue, and it's a pretty big one, is that she forgave everybody way too easily. Which is wrong of me, given how much I believe in forgiveness. But dang it, I wanted the hero to grovel more. I think he probably groveled sufficiently, but if the groveling scenes had been a tad longer, I'd have believed them more. Alas for the new shorter format. I liked it. A lot.

This book was a bittersweet read for me. I find usually partway through Desire titles I can guess what is going to play out in the rest of the story. That wasn't the cause here, and it was incredibly refreshing.
This story is the fourth in The Master Vintners series. Unfortunately due to time constraints, I haven't read the earlier books yet. This book could just as easily be read alone as part of the series - I didn't feel that I had missed key details by starting with this book.

Tamsyn Masters’ life was comfortable, reliable, steady. She worked at her family’s winery all her life and she was engaged to marry a man with whom she was very compatible.
