Meredith Stone has an enormous case of writer's block and has no idea how to start her second novel. Even more embarrassing she has no idea how to explain to her editor that the ideas for her first best seller came to her in a dream.
Dax Thelassian's problem is that nearly every word of Meredith's novel is true. A portal from the demonic underworld really does exist on a ranch in the Texas Hill Country. Dax and a few other half-human half-demon warriors have spent the last two and a half centuries watching evil energy build.
Now that battle is imminent, Dax is determined to pry the truth from the sexy but naive writer. Does she hold the key to the one item that could keep the world safe and allow him to embrace life as fully human?
Meredith Stone, a new writer had no idea that this would be her only book. Having gotten the idea of her book from a dream, Meredith was shocked when a man named Dax came to her book signing. Dax a half human half demon warrior needed to find out what Meredith knew of the demon war and he needed to find out which side she was on.
Demon Fire was a very fast paced story. It was only 54 pages according to Amazon, so that was the reason it needed to start fast & stay fast. I enjoyed the story. We get quite a bit of information about the characters. I wish it was a bit longer so we got more of their background. With that being said it was still a good book. It can easily be read in a sitting. I especially enjoyed the fact the character wrote a book based on a dream. I find that interesting and when I speak to authors personally that was always one of my favorite questions to ask. Did you ever have a dream and add the information to your book? A nice quick read!
I had a tough time with this one. The narrative jumped around enough that I had trouble following along with what was happening at times. I didn't understand some of the actions of the characters (Meredith's weird decision to lie about why she came back to the ranch springs to mind) and I'm completely in the dark as to why the big bad demon that Dax was fighting would grant him his wish at the end. There's potential in this world, but this story didn't work for me.
The pages turned quickly, but the plot didn't make a lot of sense. All of a sudden our two characters are completely in love and planning their future and the world is under attack by demons. What the heck?
Just seemed like the author made an outline of where she wanted the story to go but forgot to add the fillers. Had potential but made my head spin. Two second read. Waste of time.
