★★★★Dead Women Tell No Lies by Nora LeDuc

I was given this R2R on LibraryThing Members Giveaway in exchange for my honest review.

What happen's when you have very real dreams of your twin, crying out for help as they are getting murder? First you panic, and call them. When they don't answer, you panic more and call the police.

What will the police think when they get a strange call? Maybe they will think you're crazy or it's a prank call. Maybe they will think you are a jealous twin who killed their twin, after all it wouldn't be the first time. Or just maybe they will believe you, and a long drawn out case begins.

This book pulled me in right from the beginning. Twin speak has always interested me, so twin speak through dreams had me hooked. It seems a bit unrealistic, but the abilities in communication between twins is truly something else to see.

This book is full of twists and turns. But dead women tell no lies, and deceit will not prevail.

Thanks to the author for this gripping book.

** I got a copy of this book from the author through librarything.com early reviewer program for an exchange of an honest review. That in no way has influenced my review **

Being a twin, I had to read this book. I enjoy any book about twins especially a murder mystery book that involves twins. So of course I could not resist requesting a copy of this book to read. The book starts off sooooo suspenseful and thrilling I just could not put the book down. My first reaction was WOW! Then the book slowed down, I mean… really slowed down and I got super depressed and really did not want to finish the book. However, I really wanted to know who did "it" so I kept reading. Well thank goodness I did. The ending had great twists and turns and I thought "finally" this is what I have been waiting for. If it were not for the great ending, the book would have gotten a two star rating from me for being boring. O.k. on to the review..

Rose and Dahlia Blue are twins. They own their own jewelry store and are great friends. Dahlia even had a special butterfly pendant necklace made for the two of them to wear that they never take off. So when Rose starts having visions of her sister being attacked she starts to panic. Is Rose dreaming? Is this really happening? Rose's vision shows her sister being bound by duct tape and taken away. In a state of panic Rose calls her twin sister to make sure it is only a dream. When Dahlia does not answer her phone and is nowhere to be found Rose starts to panic and files a missing persons report.
Dahlia keeps showing up whenever she wants around Rose to tell Rose things. Rose's psychic connection to her sister is questioned by Lennox who does not believe in psychic abilities. However, when Rose can recall information that nobody else knows, Lennox has to believe her and follow up.

Detective Luke Lennox is the lead homicide detective in New Hampshire. The departments newest hire straight off the streets of the New York Police Department. When they find a young woman's body along the river bank, it is his job to find out what happened and prove to his department that he deserves his job title and not because the Chief of Police was good friend with his father, which the whole department thinks that is how he got his job in the first place.

When Rose starts getting stalk by her sister's attacker and getting presents left at her door, Detective Lennox decides that Rose cannot be left alone. Detective Lennox and Rose spend a lot of time together piecing together what happened. Of course, a romantic relationship evolves between them and this is all that we read about for half the book. Rose turns down Lennox, Lennox turns does Rose, bluh bluh bluh. I HATE romance novels and I hate how some murder mysteries are ruined because of STUPID romance!

We meet a bunch of great characters throughout the book. My favorite by far is Frank, the Retired detective that was Lennox dad's partner. He spends his retired days taking care of his garden, painting, and making model toy soldiers to play war down in his basement. Lennox goes to Frank for advice and help on Dahlia's case. Frank helps investigate and starts turning up things that Lennox just cannot believe. Only because it involves his best friend from middle school who would never do such a thing. Frank ends up saving Rose's life but I will not spoil the book for you.

My advice, do not give up on the book it does get better! :)

Rose and Dahlia are twins that share a jewelry store together. I don't know many twins so reading how connected they are to each other is heart warming! Rose starts getting visions that something tragic will happen to Dahlia. Scared out of her wits, she calls her sister and no one picks up the phone. Panicking like a madwoman, she goes to the police to report a missing person. There she meets Detective Luke Lennox (insert rawr factor) who's very weary of her. Dahlia decides to pop up out of no where and tell Rose clues, and when she tells the Detective he turns the other direction. After a while she tells Luke things that no on else knows - because Dahlia told her - and he starts to believe her.

The murderer that killed Dahlia's sister is now coming after her. She's not safe, and Luke decides to keep her close. Romance ensues - my favorite parts - and while together they find out the mystery.

I love this book! To me, if a book that's supposed to be a mystery ends up very predictable I take away many stars because it's disappointing. Dead Women Tell No Lies is thankfully a book that had many twists and turns. When I tried to figure out the plot, it will change in a different direction! Of course the romance isn't a shocker… it's a romance book so them together was obviously going to happen. Otherwise the plot kept me hooked to the end.

Both Rose and Luke have chemistry; it didn't feel forced or like it "had" to happen. They really played off of each other well, I really feel like they'll be a good couple that will last for the rest of their lives. There's growth through out the book so none of the characters got boring or dull. I can really connect to Rose and feel horrible about her sister. Thankfully I haven't lost someone I care about yet… I've been lucky.

All together I give this book 5 stars. It kept me engaged, the characters are well rounded, I never felt bored or skimmed/skipped pages, and the writing is well done.

I started getting tense on the very first page of this story, and it didn’t stop until the very end. It was fascinating, frightening and unique. This is the story of twin sisters who have a strong bond between them. Rose Blue always seemed to know when something was wrong with her sister Dahlia Blue. This last time she was devastated when Dahlia was murdered.

Rose travels to Ledgeview, NH from her home in Vermont because she has to find out what happened and why and who did it. She meets up with the head detective, Luke Lennox, and together they began looking for answers. Luke was not altogether happy with her joining him, but she was determined to find her sister's killer.

Following them was an absolute delight, step by step as they followed every clue they could think of. Sometimes they found a lead, but more often they reached a dead end. They relationship between the two was touching and sensitive, and I really loved the way the author included this so cleverly, that it was a necessary part of the story. Having the spirit of her sister visiting her was exciting and made this story even more interesting.

Throwing in occasional thoughts of the unknown killer only heightened the tension and many times I had to put the book down just to catch my breath. Still, I had to know how it ended so I would pick it up again and turn another page.

Several times I thought I had figured out the identity of the killer and I was always wrong. I like the fact that I couldn’t figure it out until the very end when it was given to me. Then I thought, “of course, I should have known,”. But I hadn't.

This author writes an outstanding romantic suspense. One of the best I have read in a long time. I would absolutely recommend highly.

I really enjoyed this book. I received a copy from the author through LibraryThing, and I was a little skeptical with the first few grammatical and typographical mistakes. However, they did not impede my understanding and I did not find anything past the halfway point in the book. The first two chapters were a little hard to figure out, but once I got into the plot I realized that the story was going to be in a third person omniscient style. I really enjoyed the author's use of this method. It was very tactful and helped give a solid perspective on the situation. There is a very good sense of plot organization shown in this book, and I loved how the author wove in little bits of information and foreshadowing. The ending was brilliant and I was not sure of the identity of the murderer until the last few pages. This suspenseful style was very effective- to the point where I was halfway through and just wanted to know the answer already! I have a lot of praise for this book. The characters are very well described- their appearance, figure, personalities, background information, even how the characters view themselves. The crime is well portrayed and the setting is accurate. Detective Lennox is a very strong male character and oozes control and masculinity with a slight hint of arrogance, which was enjoyable to read. Also, the periodic entrance of his thoughts added nicely to the tone of the book. Lastly, the touch of romance helped break the tension in the plot while adding tension at the same time. Overall, a very well crafted story and a great read.

Nora LeDuc’s DEAD WOMEN TELL NO LIES tells us of Rose coming to New Hampshire to find her twin sister’s, Dahlia, murderer. Dahlia had stolen funds from their store and left after a huge fight with Rose. Things were said that Rose wishes were unsaid. Dahlia communicates with Rose from beyond the grave trying to point her towards the murderer but the communication is not clear.

DEAD WOMEN TELL NO LIES is a solid mystery. I did not have the murderer on my list of suspects at all. And believe me, everyone was a suspect at one point or another. Well, except for Rose and Detective Luke Lennox. Nora LeDuc seemed to point the finger at each character and it seemed as if each character could have done it but she does keep it a secret until the finale. I was surprised at who it was but I should have known.

I liked the characters and the interactions between them. I loved the uncertainty between Rose and Luke. I also enjoyed the exasperation Rose felt towards Luke as he tries to protect her. Luke fights a losing battle there and in his heart. I liked the loyalty and trust shown in the long-term relationships. Some of them stand strong and some crumble when reality sets in and a look at the relationship shows flaws in it.

DEAD WOMEN TELL NO LIES is a good read. Lots of twists and turns kept me engaged and my mind moving along to the solution, even if my mind did not see the solution until it happens.

Rose Blue knew the instant her twin sister Dahlia took her last breath, an unexplained link between them overpowered her with the knowledge she would never have another moment together again. With Dahlia's disappearance, Rose has become anxious she wants answers, she follows the small clues her sister is translating to her to help find the murderer.

Detective Luke Lennox has seen it all in his career, but he can honestly say he is skeptical when it comes to Rose Blue. He doesn't know if she is a suspect, a crazy person, or actually being truthful about a unique connection to her dead sister. As the investigation into her sisters death gains traction, Rose finds herself a victim of an unknown admirer who does not have her best intentions in mind. Luke finds himself in the unusual of wanting to protect Rose and that feeling is growing more personal as the time he is with her grows.

I thought initially I had this story figured out, wrong. I was completely surprised at the end. I thought the pacing was perfect in this story and it left little crumbs along the way keeping you both invested in the mystery and the romance. Fantastic read.

When I first began this novel, I felt that it was going to be more "paranormal" or "psychic" than I wanted - and I was wrong! Sure.. Rose does have "visions" of her sister Dahlia (especially of her death), but instead of being the main focus of the novel as I feared it would be, it was only a small part of the overall plot. I enjoyed how the author kept Rose's "psychic twin" abilities to a minimum when concerning the acutal poilive investigation (although they proved to be helpful) and instead focused on the police work involved in solving a homicide.

Throughout the novel, you are introduced to several characters - some you cannot help but like, and others you cannot help but loathe. Several times during the novel, I was certain I knew who the killer was - and time and again I was proven wrong. The twists and turns in this novel kept my attention throughout wondering what would happen next - would Dahlia's killer ever be brought to justice?

Dead Women Tell No Lies was a thoroughly enjoyable novel that I would certainly recommend. Ms. DeLuc definitely knows how to draw a reader in and keep them reading (and guessing) until the "OH MY GOD THEY WERE THE KILLER!?!?" ending.

I received this book as an early read review.

I was really interested in this book from the synopsis posted with the giveaway. I think this story has a lot of potential. I would start getting engrossed in the plot and then there would be something that would pull me back out. The flow of the story felt choppy. I don't know how to explain it with out giving examples and that would ruin the story for others. I think with some more editing and rewrites this story could be huge.

What is the link between twins? What binds their souls so much to let one of the two share the terror of the other? Dahlia and Rose, same features, different characters and ways of life, but only one invisible bond. The author leads us to discover it in a spiral of increasing suspense until the final unpredictable. Must-read

Excellent cozy mystery - suspense. I was kept guessing about who the killer was all the way to the end of the book. I had my suspicions, but I was kept on the edge of my seat waiting for the killer to be revealed.

Rose Blue is a compelling heroine vulnerable yet determined, haunted by her twin sister’s death but brave enough to chase the truth despite the danger. Her flawed psychic connection adds a chilling, unpredictable edge that kept me guessing throughout the story. Detective Luke Lennox is equally well-crafted, balancing skepticism, duty, and a growing protectiveness that creates electric tension between the two.

I really didn't like this book. It sounded interesting but I just couldn't get into the story. Mostly because I never really "got" Rose. I like suspense novels with a paranormal aspect but this book couldn't decide whether she had a "twin link" or she could see ghosts or if she was partially psychic. It was just confusing. Luke was a decent character but it never explained why he was so willing to believe Rose and the romance between the two was Blah. I honestly, didn't care who the killer was by the middle of the book and only skimmed the ending. Save your money and pick up a different book.

Dead Women Tell No Lies is about identical twins and one of them gets murdered. The alive twin "sees" her dead twin, she falls in love with the detective on the case. She has a gut feeling about the murderer but of course the detective doesn't believe her. The author tried to put in a plot twist but I saw that coming a hundred miles out. The book had potential but it just didn't hold my attention very well.
