Murder, betrayal, the fate of Humanity... it's all in a day's work for Jim Meade, Martian P.I.
In 2097 humanity is ruled by two major powers: The Consortium and Coalition. But Jim Meade is a Runabout - someone who doesn't care who’s running the show so long as he can earn his keep peacefully in the deadly Zero-G fights that keep the Martian colonists entertained on a nightly basis.
After one of his fights goes horribly wrong, Meade finds himself deep in debt to one of the most dangerous warlords on Mars. When a beautiful Coalition officer asks to help clear her father’s name, Meade seizes the opportunity to make some easy money.
He quickly finds out that his petty problems with debt are nothing compared to the plans of the warlord who seeks control of the Coalition’s secretive soothsaying program, CASSANDRA.
Racing against time, Meade seeks to keep Cassandra out of the warlord's hands and keep Mars safe. Change in Management is a fast-paced action thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat and have you questioning - how long until we see this happen to us?
A very entertaining book. Nice twist on a P.I. story set on Mars of all places. Nice fresh setting. I most certainly will look into more books written by RJ Johnson. I would have given this even maybe 4.5 stars if that was an option.
Just as fun as the first one. This really was more of a thriller than mystery, but the storytelling is top notch. Felt like I was right on Mars with Jim and Em.
I received this from voracious readers only in exchange for an honest review . And I can say that honestly it was a very enjoyable read . The author took you on a jaunt into space and I thoroughly enjoyed the pacing and characters. The technology was believable and the zero-G fights brought to my mind the world of Star Trek Voyagers and Tsunkatse ! Loved it !
A political thriller set in a future Mars settlement but written like a Grade "B" movie. A lot of action, an interesting Mars culture, and a plot with a lot of twists. My copy of the book had many problems. The worse was the spelling, grammar, and syntax errors that would pull me out of the story when I encountered them (the book was self published). Then there was the suspension of belief that a body could adsorb as much physical damage as Meade goes through (medical advances didn't handle it for me) and that a Runabout wearing a cowboy hat and long leather duster coat could hide in a crowd without being noticed. There were descriptions of fights that were impossible to follow and flight maneuvers of aerocycles that defied physics and a sense of purpose. Surprised I didn't give it lower stars and that I stayed with it to finish the book. I was wondering if the ending would rescue this train wreck but no. I know it is fiction (and a fantasy of sorts) but there are qualities of writing that must be achieved if you want the reader to suspend beliefs and buy into your story.

Change in Management features Jim Meade, one of the best P.I. characters to come out of science fiction/urban fantasy since Harry Dresden. The book starts with a major action scene, and flows into a hard-boiled mystery. The good guys are multi-textured, the victims are sympathetic, the villains are truly evil, and the planet Mars is a character in its own right. This is already an excellent series that can only grow into greatness. RJ Johnson is an author to keep an eye on. He will be huge!
I really enjoyed reading this book and Jim Meade is a great PI character. The fact that the story was based on Mars was an added bonus and it was so well written that you felt like you were on there with the characters. Brilliant twist at the end, great characters, well written, what’s not to love about this book! Looking forward to reading more in the series.
