From alligator to zebra - with a goldfish, iguana, yak, and even a unicorn in between - there's no better way to learn the alphabet than with animals... in underwear!
Todd Parr's signature kid-friendly illustrations and bold colors showcase an array of animals in all kinds of hilarious underwear styles, making learning the alphabet tons of fun. Featuring a padded cover and gate folds on every spread, here's a playful, silly way for kids to learn their ABCs!

I love Todd's books. They use of bright primary colors catches and keeps the attention of small fry so that you can sit with them a little longer.
This particular book is done in that new boardbook style Little Brown is using. You don't so much lift a flap, as lift an entire page. I saw one recent book where the pages open up in different directions -- up, down, sideways. This book however only opens by lifting the page up and I have to say that I like that better. (I don't have to 'learn' which way the pages swing.)
The focus of this book is animals and the alphabet. The text consists of a LARGE alphabet letter, with a slightly smaller (still good sized) font for the animals name.
And I know you're wondering... what is X? Well, it's an Extra-large pig--in underwear, of course.
Cute book to share. Bright and colorful.

A kind of weird concept. I like the bright colors and I'm sure some kids will find the underwear super funny. It just wasn't anything above and beyond other alphabet animal books.
I'm also not the best to review board books as I have an elementary library background but I had put this book on hold at my local library because I saw it was by Todd Parr so I was curious.
When you read an ABC book the main thing is anticipating what the letter X will be. The most common cop out is Xylophone followed by X-ray. But in an Animals in Underwear book the choices are limited. There's a group of birds called xenops which my guess. One of my kids was hoping for a Xenomorph from Alien. That would have been pretty awesome in underwear. However you can imagine our immense disappointment when it turned out to be an "X-tra Large Pig."
There's no story line at all, this is essentially just a list of animals A to Z and each of them is wearing a pair of colored underwear. Typical Parr illustrations are nice, though. Definitely appropriate for toddler story time, but not outstanding.
This book will be either funny or gross to a child who is learning their alphabet. Each page has an animal that corresponds to the letter in question...and that animal is wearing underwear. To some degree, it feels like it's silly just for the sake of being silly, and that is ok. Learning animals and the alphabet is important, and if underwear helps a child become interested, then so be it!
Todd Parr knows children. Seriously, what child doesn't find underwear hilarious?! Add in animals and ABCs and you've got Animals in Underwear ABC. I don't love the fold out pages. They make it tough for kids to handle the book without accidental rips and keeping the pages in order can be tough for little hands.
A fun picture book with ABC animals in underwear! Cuteness! Children will love the flaps and the bright colors, along with the silliness that comes with animals being in underwear. Plus, it's a squishy book that's perfect for babies to bite.
This is such a cute book! My son loves lifting the pages and pointing at the different animals. The coloring is great and the pick of the animals is even better. The soft toy that you can get with it are amazing!
Not much that's unique about this book to make it stand out. Typical Todd Parr style, which is likable and friendly. I don't even think that kids would notice the underwear on the animals.
