Full of practical techniques, real-world examples, and hands-on exercises, this book explores the technologies involved, as well as how to find areas of the organization that can take full advantage of big data. Big Understanding How Data Powers Big Business is written by one of Big Data's preeminent experts, William Schmarzo. Don't miss his invaluable insights and advice.
Lots of interesting ideas on how business can adopt big data. Great pointers on how to structure the process of finding the non-technical motivators for making the transformation.
I appreciate how Schmarzo made technical aspects of using Big Data easier for business users to understand and hopefully use. However, I didn't identify ways in which I could necessarily use Big Data in my current job, which was a key part of what I was hoping to learn.
I really liked this book for the "How" of Big data. Plenty of case studies point towards the evolution of big data and how we got here. I also like the deep dive the author has made into how an organization can make a transition towards adopting big data strategies and what pitfalls to avoid.
maybe I expected too much from this book - it feels directed to someone who has extremely limited interactions with how companies work and how technology impacts business.
