Ion know who needs to hear this but, Judah Gatlin is mine and I will fight you. Insert Tamar Braxton GIF here. Judah is 100% an azzhole but, I absolutely loved him. He was cocky, he talked mucho shyt, he was the shyt, and his BDE was off the charts. Honestly, Judah was the whole package but, his indecisiveness was a complete turnoff. He and Ember have been sneakin’ around with each other since they were 16 and 17 years old. For the last 12 years, Judah has been dippin’ in and out of Ember’s life and girlfriend has grown tired of his reckless behavior. Ember is a simple girl with simple needs. She just wants to be loved out loud and in the open for her friends and family to see. But, Judah is hesitant to bring their love out in the open because, it may cause a riff in the friendship and business relationship between their parents. What he doesn’t know is, Papa Edward has already peeped game. See, the gag is, he’s known about Judah and Ember since they were in college. He promptly let Judah know, they weren’t foolin’ nobody because he has eyes everywhere. Unhand Me was the perfect urban romance. It's a lil thugalicious with the right amount of romance thrown in. I just adored Ember and Judah. It’s obvious these characters are desperately in love with each other and the will he or won’t he tug of war will have you ready to go upside Judah’s head. My only complaint is the lack of an epilogue. As long as it took Judah to get his shyt together, there definitely should’ve been a wedding for us to attend.

Grey Just Does It For Me..

This novella was a breath of fresh air. Grey knows how to make you feel all the things with her books - Ember and Judah were no different. I hate that they wasted so much time being concerned about …nothing lol. I can’t wait to read updates about their happily ever after.

The tug-of-war between Judah and Ember. Since they had been in love since they were young, I waited for them to eventually put their differences aside. It's funny because all this hiding was unnecessary because everyone knew.

Love over Everything!

Aww I love when Grey is in her bag ❤️💕
This is what I expect from her! A love that can be felt in every page, the angst, the fear, but the love triumphs. Ember and Judah had been in love since they were kids, but family expectations kept them from really acting on it. This was a bumpy, yet passionate love story as they overcame family obstacles to accept the love they deserved. Finally love over everything!❤️

This is the Grey Huffington I missed. I haven't liked any of the full length books she's put out. I feel her strength is in writing novellas not full books. This novella really brought me back to her earlier works. It was long winded at times and i found the angst in it unnecessary but I liked Ember and Judah's tale. Any novella from this author I'll more than likely read because I like them most of the time. However it's a wrap for me with any more of her full length novels. I have nothing good to say about them.

I'm just saying

Yes, we needed something lighter after the previous book took me all the way out. Unhand Me, filled the spaces with a different kind of energy. I am happy with the way their story concluded with the opportunity for next steps...

Moving forward, I’m not reading anything from Grey Huffington that’s over 150 words. her novella length books treat me wayyyy better than her full length books! “Unhand” me gave me everything that I didn’t know I needed. If you’re a fan of the long time friends to lovers trope with a forbidden vibe, you will absolutely love this book. Judah and Ember just radiated off the pages and it was evident that they are desperately in love with each other. I loved this book! However, less unnecessary dialogue could’ve been replaced with more of the couple spending time on pages and this would’ve made this a five star read for me. The author really needs to work on less telling and more showing while eliminating the fluff! An epilogue would’ve been the icing on the cake but I’ve learned to keep yearning and not asking when it comes to this author. Overall, I absolutely adored this couple and their journey to loving each other out loud!!!

4.25⭐️

This was such a quick and refreshing read. I loved everything about Judah even when he was pissing me off. You could tell his heart was in the right place. I love that Ember spoke up and expressed everything that was on her mind. Because I feel like if she didn’t, they wouldn’t have made it to their happily ever after.

This was a very short and quick read. The author wasted no time letting you know what was up between the two main characters. They grew up together and there had always been this strong attraction and urge between them. Ember decided that she wanted Judah to her first and since then he'd always remained a constant in her life. However, because of the close knit connection between the families their dad's being business partners and them being their god parents, it was a line they werent willing to cross. But as the years passed Ember wanted more and they had to figure out if it was worth it.

4.5 stars. This was a quick and spicy novella that I loved from the first chapter. I’m not a fan of the “forbidden love because my father loves you like a son” tropes, but by the end, Judah got it together and understood like I had been saying from the beginning… it’s ridiculous. I would definitely recommend to fans of Grey Huffington but also fans of novellas.

Grey and her novellas *chefs kiss* She’s so good when it comes to giving all the feels.

With so much history, and business involved I understand the reservation. There’s so much at play when it comes to it all, but it’s 12 years worth of dismissing the true matters of the heart, and putting them on the back burner even if at times he was not doing it intentionally.

I really loved Ember x Judah. Aside from him being scared to finally confess the feelings to the family, he was that man. His BDE energy, and love made me wanting to leave a spare key.. to my heart as well. LOL

My only con with Grey books is that in 80ish percent characters are still fighting, and don’t make up until 90%.

I would have loved an epilogue for their story since the last 10% wasn’t enough for me.

4.5⭐️ (Friends to lovers/forbidden romance/second chance love💕 )

This was my first Grey Huffington read I’ve completed- I’ve struggled with getting past her prologues in her novels- however, this Novella was A1👌🏽🥰

Both main characters were first friends, whom fell in love as teens, and in their late 20’s still hiding it from the families (worried that it would affect business), but ended up with HEA, afterall. Nevertheless, this was a nice story❤️and I look forward to reading more of Grey’s books!📚

I’m moving to Channing

Grey is one writer who I would love to write a love story about me! Her ability to create such strong but soft characters just makes me want to be apart of Channing. Unhand Me follows the complicated love of Judah and Ember. You want them to win , but you also want to shake sense into both of them. Such a beautiful love story through and through

Perfect

I loved it. It started off as some Bridgerton type of romance and somewhere along the line transpired into a hood love type of vibe and I loved every second of it. Also for a short book it didn't feel rushed.

Simple

This was a cute little story. A breath of fresh air. A pallette cleanser of sorts. I'm glad they got things together. Stop trying to build or hide relationships out of fear. Y'all just read the damn book.

This was a quick love story that I didn’t know I needed. The way I was smiling from ear to ear was needed. Ember knew exactly what she deserved.

be advised

When a woman says no and a man proceeds to touch anyway, it’s not romance it’s sexual assault. Hard pass.

Put up or shut up....

I enjoyed this novella. It is intense with hidden love between forbidden lovers but the emotions and feelings are too deep to ignore. The intensity and urgency to be loved out loud instead of in secret is at the forefront. Despite how Ember was feeling, she was ready to create her happiness and future without Judah because she was beyond emotional tired. When Judah finally realize that it's time to put up or shut up, he knew exactly what needed to happen. He could miss out on love or delve further into it but he had to decide if the hidden truth would destroy the life he had built. His choice could disrupt many lives but it had to be worth it either way, right? It may be a novella but it feels so complete because you get the background, the angst, the dilemma, the decision, and the results. It heart stirring and emotional filled. I love how the author pens her stories because they leave you feeling so full like you were right there with the characters. I enjoyed this and highly recommend this one and any of her work.

This was a really odd story. I don’t know, I liked the premise but the execution was lack luster. I feel like Judah and Ember were children playing adults. Why can’t you check your parents if y’all are so grown? Or just even have a conversation? Like what was the point? No shade but taking 12 years for two people to get together is diabolical considering they didn’t even really try all that hard to even want to be with each other. Also Judah said it’s his job to talk to Ember’s dad but I disagree. That’s HER dad and she should be talking to him FIRST instead of sulking for over a decade. If you don’t demand respect, even from your parents, you are NEVER going to get it. I’d expect two damn near 30 year olds to understand that.
