Captivating! Mysterious! Those would be the two thoughts that enter my mind when describing The Satyr's Curse by accomplished author Alexandrea Weis.

Jazzmyn Livaudias was a warm-hearted, spirited and sassy restaurateur; her sanctuary, The Sweet Note. She had become the focus of two striking men. One with chiselled good looks and piercing blue eyes with whom she worked; Kyle, who both invigorated and exasperated. He was in love with Jazzmyn. She wasn't sure.

The other, despite his irresistible allure, his intoxicating presence, kept her in a state of apprehension and inexplicable arousal. Julian was determined to make Jazzmyn his.

As Weis cleverly wove her tale, Kyle both irritated me with his bickering and petulance, yet endeared me to him because of his persistent allegiance to Jazz. Similarly, it was difficult to decide whether Julian was simply the victim of a curse, thus urging the reader to root for him, or evil incarnate, only after his own gratification.

If you like to dip your literary feet into the intriguing depths of paranormal romance, I think you will enjoy The Satyr's Curse. Due to the meticulous detail of Weis's scene descriptions, it was easy to visualize both the stage set for each act and the people within. Each situation was relevant, making the book pace well without unnecessary clutter. Written in third person from the perspective of Jazz, the mystery was well constructed, with a frequent twists and turns, some predictable, to sustain interest. The ending was clever, with just enough ambiguity to keep you wanting for more. Now, we await the sequel.

Yes, dear romance readers, there was also some sizzle. ''Guided by pure instinct, she bucked and grinded against him, delirious with lust.' 'The ecstasy he generated with every deep penetration was like nothing she had ever known.' Enjoy!

No compensation was received for this review. An ARC was provided by Alexandrea Weis for an honest review.

Ok--so this is going to be a hard one for me to review because I LOVED it and HATED it!

I was a very complicated relationship so to speak.

So, what I loved about the book.

The writing--Weis has a beautiful way of story telling. He voice is very original and I was left bitting my nails and turning the page. I didn't want to put the book down. My love for New Orleans was brought to life in the pages of this book. The story pacing was amazingly executed. It was a slow, simmering build that made you go--Oh lovely, once the you know what starts to hit the fan.

I loved the whole psycho bad boy element. I love bad boys. I love psychos even more. Mix in that element and I'm a happy girl.

But--

And there is a HUGE but.

Jazzmyn was the most too stupid to live female on the planet.

Ok, how many times was she not just warned about Julian but FACTS that implicated him in multiple murders were tossed in her face and she just went--"Oh, well but he's super hot! And I really really adore him so oh well if he's a psycho!"

I get the whole self sacrifice deal that she was the possible only way for him to be 'cured'. Honey, a zebra can't change his stripes. This guy was bad to the bone BEFORE the curse--it just simply amplified his vices. He would have just become what he was before he was cursed. Literally, the signs were flashing at this chick in big red neon letters and BAM! She just shrugs it off, calls everyone a-holes and humps the dude.

I had very little sympathy for her. Which is a horrible thing--because she could have made more rational choices in these course of events.

Julian--oh Julian you evil baddie you. All the women just LOVE you! They want to give you the benefit of the doubt and feel sorry for you. The curse made you this dark creature. You need love, oh yes, the love of a good woman will make you all better--Yes, I'm sure the woman that married Richard Romeriez said the same thing lol! There is no cure what you are. You were wicked before. He is a RAPIST ladies! *smacks her forehead* I actually liked Julian because he was the only legit character in the story!

In short, this isn't a bad read, it is just a frustrating read the way the heroine (and I say that term very loosely) reacted to EVERYTHING! She was still not really nice to Kyle come the end of the book. I didn't think she deserved him. I'm not sure she loved anyone in the end to be honest.

For Jazzmyn Livaudais the nightmare is just beginning.

No one can ever break The Satyr’s Curse.

REVIEW: THE SATYR’S CURSE is the first instalment in Alexandrea Weis’s adult, contemporary, paranormal series of the same name. The focus of the storyline is a 150 year old voodoo curse placed upon Julian Devereau-a man who returns to New Orleans every forty years searching for the one woman who can break the spell. Enter Jazzmyn Livaudais-a local restaurant owner whose life is about to spiral out of control.

The storyline follows Julian’s seduction of Jazzmyn Livaudais. Believing Jazzmyn is his salvation and the only person to break the magic spell that has cursed him for 150 years, Julian begins to weave his own spell of seduction but Jazzmyn may have feelings for another man. With Julian’s good looks, his expensive clothing and his exotic cars, Jazzmyn is quickly pulled under Julian’s spell. But it is the truth about his attraction and need for Jazzmyn that will find our heroine struggling with what needs to be done.

The relationship between Julian and Jazzmyn is one of immediate attraction to one another but one that has been manipulated by a curse. Julian needs Jazzmyn to set him free, and Jazzmyn is attracted to Julian’s looks, personality and gentlemanly veneer. Throughout the storyline well meaning friends and family continue to warn Jazzmyn about Julian’s dark and malevolent aura. Because of the curse, Julian’s personality and physical build have been altered.

There is also the relationship between Jazzmyn and her head chef Kyle Baker. Former lovers and friends for a number of years, Kyle becomes suspicious of Julian’s relationship with Jazzmyn and sets out to destroy any semblance of a building love. The love triangle aspect begins to take center stage when Jazzmyn is pulled between two men-neither one deserving –but both with an agenda. Jazzmyn’s attraction and need for both men differs but her heart is unable to make a life long commitment.

The world building brings the reader onto the streets of New Orleans, behind the scenes of a busy restaurant, and up close with a fabled tale about a cursed man who has yet to atone for the sins of his past.

The secondary characters include Jazzmyn’s colorful employees who add spice and entertainment to the storyline. We meet Ms. Helen, one of the kitchen staff, who knows a little more about voodoo magic and Julian Devereau than anyone should know. Julian’s connection to Jazzmyn begins in the past but reveals itself in the present.

Alexandrea Weis invites you into her imagination and the entertaining world of the paranormal. The Satyr’s Curse is a story of mystery, suspense, romance and passion, but it is also a dark and demonic tale of one man’s need and desires for the woman he cannot control. The Satyr’s Curse blends modern day New Orleans with the old world beliefs of voodoo curses and vengeful spells.

4 1/2 star read. If you love creepy, this one's for you.

Jazzmyn Livaudais has her hands full with running a restaurant and keeping her employees out of trouble, especially her chef, Kyle Baker. She and Kyle have a past that she’d rather have left there but Kyle won’t let it go, especially now that the intriguing and handsome stranger, Julian Devereau has made it a habit to spend his evenings at the bar drinking fine wine and admiring Jazzmyn.

Julian has a secret that will change Jazzmyn’s life forever, if she survives it. Kyle isn’t willing to relinquish Jazzmyn to the dark stranger who he cannot trust and refuses to like. Each man works to seduce Jazzmyn and get her to bend to his will, but Jazzmyn is her own woman. When she begins to look for answers in Julian’s past, it’s Kyle she turns to with the truth. Faced with a decision that may keep her from the man she truly loves but will save some lives, Jazzmyn does what she needs to do and hopes for the best.

THE SATYR’S CURSE by Alexandrea Weis is amazing, thrilling, creepy, and spellbinding. This story has so many levels, so many twists and turns, that I couldn’t put it down. Just when you think things are going well and in one direction, wham! - Alexandrea takes us in a completely different direction. In THE SATYR’S CURSE, Alexandrea journeys us into the world of New Orleans’ mystery and voodoo. We look to its past and its present, while her writing engages us in a love story that, at first, you’ll find yourself eager to experience, but then slowly dreading and becoming fearful. Then another shift and you're cheering as the real love is recognized and fulfilled, and finally praying that good can overcome evil as danger threatens to destroy it all. THE SATYR’S CURSE is a paranormal romance sensation woven into the modern world of New Orleans with curses, murders, and an inexplicable attraction for a man that even we succumb to - until we learn the truth.

I highly recommend THE SATYR’S CURSE by Alexandrea Weis to anyone who has a penchant for paranormal, mythology, magic, history, and undeniably thrilling romance with a heavy dose of creepy. This suspenseful romance will have you cheering for the underdog and wishing to drive a stake through the heart of the competition.

The author sent me a paperback for free for an honest review. I didn't really know what to expect. Looking at the cover and the word Curse, I thought maybe a sci-fi of some kind. Maybe a legend with facts that were turn into a fiction read and not an actually story. Was I wrong!!! From the very first page the story started out very interesting. A young girl named Jazzmyn, lived in a small part of New Orleans. In this old mansion house that belonged to relatives before her. She had a sense of pride this home was hers. Every morning she walked to her fathers restaurant. After her father died she took it over and made it her own. She would hire staff that could not get a job anywhere else. Due to criminal records some held. Over time they have became her family and would do anything for anyone of them. Her chef Kyle was very fond and protective over Jazzmyn. Especially when this dark stranger walked in and sat at the bar sipping wine and listening and watching the people around him. The staff notices him come in every night. Sitting on the same stool, drinking the same thing, Red Wine. They know what he is after and what he wants, Jazzmyn. Jazzmyn doesn't believe that a guy so good looking would be wanting her. She decides one night to go over and talk to him. She feels drawn to him. Kyle and the rest of the staff warn her. The guy, Julian, was no good for her. As Jazzmyn got to know Julian more outside the restaurant and Kyle becomes jealous and enraged. Jazzman is confused about both Kyle and Julian. She feels something for both of them. Julian becomes very protective of Jazzmyn and starts to act weird. Julian is starting to scare her. Who will she choose to believe? Is Julian hiding a secret? Jazzmyn is in for a surprise.... after that the story has so many things going on. I thought the story was going one way and it took me in a whole new direction. Many times. Unpredictable twist had me thinking. And then at the end I was like "Oh No!" Get this book. You will not be disappointed...

I recieved this First Reads Goodreads Giveaway book for an honest review.

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. Needless to say both my husband and I were happy that I didn't have the need to purchase another book. This book is written by an independent author and it is noticeable in the way it is written, but not in a bad way. THE SATYR'S CURSE is a book with a slightly confusing genre target. I wasn't sure if I was reading a romance or a horror. To be honest, it was a bit of both, but didn't have enough of both to really qualify as either genre.

The beginning was a bit slow and the story didn't really pick up until roughly the middle of the book. I don't know how the author could change that, but I think I would have liked more horror elements inside. The horror aspect of the book was good and I was definitely on the edge of my seat near the end. I'm a horror junkie though and I feel more could have been placed.

The book is well written and I could see the world Weis created perfectly. I love Jazzmyn's personality, but aside from her green eyes I really didn't know what she looked like. The two love interests (Kyle Baker and Julian Deverau) have similar personalities, but I do like the twists Weis presents. However, I feel that a bit more scenes with young Jazz and Mr. JP as well as Kyle and Jazz would help the reader understand Jazz's relationship decisions.

All in all, I liked the book. It was a bit slow, but the pace quickened wonderfully. I love the way Jazz is written and I love the climax of the book. Another thing I like about the book? There's a hint at a sequel. And, I will gladly read that one as well.

I know a great book is about to hit my email inbox when I get a message from this author! The Satyr’s Curse did not disappoint.

I love how all her books are set in New Orleans. I’m a huge fan of the South—whether it’s the food, the culture, the hot accents, I love everything about it. So to be able to read a great book set in my favourite location makes me oh so very happy.

If you read the summary for this book it pretty much gives away exactly what the book is about and what happens. Or so I thought. There’s enough little surprises along the way that made the summary not as simple as it seemed.

Love. Lust. Voodoo. Curses. This book has it all.

And can I just say how much I love Kyle. *swoon* Adding him to my list of book boyfriends. Yes he was hot tempered and acted like an ass at times, but he was also sweet and adorable and just wanted what was best for Jazzmyn and sure that made him act like a jealous dick sometimes but that’s okay. We forgive Kyle.

The most surprising thing for me was the ending. I thought for sure it would turn out totally different than it did and everyone would have closure in some way—even if it wasn’t in a good way. I don’t want to give too much away, but I definitely saw something different happening to Julian. But the ending does leave an option for a sequel. I would love to see what happens with these characters x amount of years down the road.

Another winner from Ms. Weis

Would like to thank the author and LOP for gifting me this book an exchange for a honest review.

In this book we are taken to New Orleans, where Jazzmyn lives and runs her restaurant The Sweet Note, Her restaurant is her whole life. She has a love hate relationship with the chef Kyle. Kyle cares for Jazzmyn, wants to protect her, especially since theres been some horrible murders and people are worried. Then theres the mysterious, good looking Julian and Jazzmyn is very attracted to him. But theres something very off about Julian everyone seems to notice that expect Jazzmyn. But Jazzmyn wants Julian. Well it turns out Julian is a Satyr and he is cursed to never be with a woman and never quench his thirst. Jazzmyn is the only one who can break him from his curse, but Jazzmyn needs to love him. Jazzmyn finally realizes she doesnt and can never love Julian, because she loves someone else.

I enjoyed this book alot, I loved that it was in New Orleans. I loved Jazzmyn and Kyle's love hate relationship. Kyle very funny. I just felt at times that Jazzmyn was just unrealstic, she even seemed obessed with Julian, maybe it was the Satyrs curse thing that made her like that and Julian well I didnt like him very much. You want him to change, redeem himself but theres not helping Julian. I couldnt connect with Julian or Jazzmyn. The ending was a good twist. Will read the next one!!!

I thought this was a great read! I love the cover too. I have a love for many things; history and mostly anything mysterious. The two places I want to visit most in the US are New Orleans and Savannah. So when I read a book with either of those areas I love it. They have so much history and mystery they are the perfect backdrop for a story. At first I was undecided like Jazzmyn but once I saw more of Julian’s character I made my decision. I wish she would have too, lol. She had her doubts but she didn't listen to her gut, and that was her mistake. Kyle had his issues too but the doubts she had about Julian were on a deeper and more sinister level. Julian’s cursed and he believes that Jazzmyn is the only one who can break his curse, but when the time comes, he finds another little fork in the road to his redemption. To be honest, he deserved the curse, and still does. He’s a typical arrogant, selfish, chauvinist and does only what will benefit him. Alexandrea definitely did her job well; I really don’t like his character, lol. It’s a great read and if you love mystery and magic I definitely recommend it.

**I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review through LOP's R2R program**

Well, this book had plenty of ingredients to hook me -- New Orleans setting, Voodoo curses, mythology, food connection (the heroine is a restaurant owner and one of her love interests is a chef)-- but it didn't live up to its potential.

1. The characters were not fleshed out. I never really connected to the MC Jazzmyn, and didn't buy into Julian's uber attractiveness (in fact, I agreed with the secondary characters regarding that relationship). The only two characters I somewhat liked were Ms. Helen and Kyle, but even they were not used to their full potential.

2. A lot of the dialogue and narrative was very repetitive.

3. The climax or final confrontation was strangely flat and underwhelming. Neither Jazzmyn nor Kyle, the two protagonists, were actively involved in defeating or thwarting the antagonist. And as a reader I found that disappointing.

Whoa! This book was nothing like I thought it was going to be but in a good way. This book has twists and drama, it was so exciting I couldn't put it down. I loved it. This is the first book I've read where the satyr was one of the main character, it was refreshing to read something a little different yet so compelling to have the need to read it until the end. I am so glad I have book 2 to go right to or I think I'd go nuts wondering what happened next.

The descriptive writing style of Alexandrea Weis is evident once again in The Satyr’s Curse. The imagery that she brings forth places the reader directly in the middle of the amazing city of New Orleans. She ensures you can envision every setting and envelopes you in the sites, scents, and sounds in every scene. She ensures that the reader can close their eyes and picture the people, the places, and the locations – absolutely everything. It does take a little more time to read, absorb, and savour all this imagery, but that extra time is worth its price in gold. No other writer can pick me up and plop me directly into a scene like Alexandrea can. She will entice you to place New Orleans on your ‘places to visit’ list and also whet your appetite with traditional dishes from the area.

I was totally captivated by The Satyr’s Curse. It is book 1 of the Series, and a true series it is, so be prepared to pick up the remaining books. Although it doesn’t end totally on a cliff hanger, the story does continue in the remaining books, so if you enjoyed the first part and are curious about where the characters go next, I‘m sure you will be happy to dive into the rest.

The storyline and characters are so well written that she had me totally confused about what I wanted. From the beginning, Jazzmyn will capture your interest. She is like a fragile flower that has to endure pain and loss at an early age. You will feel for her and you will want her to find the love she so desperately needs and deserves, although I’m not sure you will be able to decide who she needs. I rocked back and forth between where I wanted the love-triangle to go. Each hero, Kyle and Julian, both had such endearing qualities, until they didn’t, each also having their own flaws. She has you guessing till the end about who she will end up with. Being in love with two different men at the same time can be so confusing and she had me liking each hero and feeling torn between which one I liked better. Even though Jazzmyn was warned at every corner by everyone to be wary of the handsome newcomer, Julian Devereau, she is powerless against the pull and lure of the magic. Her body betrays her mind every time. Even in the end, when we are meant to see the devious deception and the true personality of ‘the villain’, I still hold out hope that he will rise above his fate and become the man I know he can be in the remainder of the Series. Ms. Weis totally has me wanting Jazzmyn to be the saviour and salvation for two men.

The Satyr’s Curse is an entertaining, romantic paranormal that brings out the juju and voodoo that is synonymous with New Orleans environment. The everyday life and characters that encircle the central plot, actually bring the tale to life and give it the necessary elements to make it believable. A little magic and belief goes a long way in planting confidence or a curse within a person. This is a bit of a haunting tale, but not over the top scary, or else I wouldn’t have read it. It has just enough drama and paranormal to make it interesting. I loved the twists that continued to enter the tale and kept me guessing where Jazzmyn was headed. It holds a good mix of sexual tension, restraint and release that keeps you mesmerized and hopefully licking your lips a little. The ending is suspenseful but also leaves you with a feeling of ‘calm before the storm’. I’m so happy that I already have The Satyr’s Curse II: the Reckoning already downloaded and ready to start.

Well, let's just say I'm a little underwhelmed by this offering from Alexandrea Weis. There's nothing particularly wrong with it, it's just not *there*, as far as the writing goes. I can't help but think if this were written in first person, it would be much better. But that would be me, telling an author how to write their own story, and I don't do that. I have to confess a fondness for first person POV. It lends an immediacy to the work that's just absent in third-person past-tense. And maybe that's the problem here- there is no urgency to the situations presented in the book.
Oh, you want to know what it's about? Okay, the briefest of synopses:
Jazzmyn (yeah, I know. I hate purposely misspelled names too) is a restauranteur in New Orleans (great place for a story), with a temperamental, alcoholic chef with whom she might or might not be in love. Julian is a mysterious visitor to her restaurant who catches her eye and her libido. There are dead girls popping up all over NO. What does this have to do with satyrs? Well, let's just say that Julian is abnormally hairy, and leave it at that. You'll have to read the book if you want to know more. I'm not a kiss-and-teller.
Back to the review:
The sex scenes, while handled just fine, are not incredibly sexy. If you're writing about a creature who personifies sex, you need your sex scenes to be a little...more. I'm not saying go all porno, but you can be sexy without being squishy (e.g. the Anita Blake series).
We never really get a clear picture of why she's so physically attracted to Julian. For a mythological being, he's not very compelling. Oops! Did I reveal something? No matter. It's not a big secret anyway.
Now the important stuff: are there any typos or grammatical errors?
The answer would be "yes". She confuses "aired" with "erred", does the there/they're/their thing, forgets apostrophes frequently, but in general it's not the worst I've ever seen.
My recommendation? If you get it as a freebie, go ahead and read it. If not, pass. 3 stars out of 5.

Ok soooo it seems I've had this book forever now but haven't reviewed it. BAD ME lol! This book deserves some love for sure.

You are for sure going to have a love/hate relationship with this series but isn't that what makes books great? Once you get started you won't want to stop....In fact I didn't. I read this one and soon as I was done I was captured and needed my next fix.

I must say this author is quite descriptive with her words and you can tell she for sure loves New Orleans or at least I think by the way she describes it. For sure a excellent build up to a series and can't wait to see it develop more in the next installment. Then there's the bad boy....We gotta love to hate the bad boy ; ) Then there's Jazzmyn yeah she has some flaws but I'm giving her a chance to smarten up.

I for sure am recommending this one since I know what happens in the next book ; ) I do highly recommend this one for sure I don't think you'll regret it one bit.

Reviewed on behalf of 2 Girls Who Love Books

The Satyr's Curse, by Alexandrea Weis, is a suspenseful novel full of paranormal elements and romance that will leave your heart pounding. Set in present day New Orleans, The Satyr's Curse centers around Jazzmyn, a young woman who is the last of an old New Orleans family. She owns and operates The Sweet Note Bistro, a well loved restaurant that takes up both her time and money. Jazzmyn's life centers around her restaurant and she feels her employees are her confidants and adopted family.

Jazzmyn's best friend and head cook is the handsome Kyle, whom she once had a drunken one night stand with. She has put the night behind her for the most part and determined that there is no future with Kyle as he is not the settling down type. Kyle, on the other hand, has been madly in love with Jazzmyn for years. Kyle keeps the role of her best friend in the hopes that one day she will have a change of heart and give a relationship with him a real chance.

In The Satyr's Curse, Jazzmyn becomes besotted with a man who comes into The Sweet Note Bistro and strikes up a conversation with her. There is something about Julian that instantly draws Jazzmyn to him, and the chemistry she feels can not be ignored. However, as Jazzmyn finds herself in a relationship with Julian, she begins to realize that he is not what he seems. As she begins to question who he really is and what he is after, Jazzmyn finds herself on a journey of revealing Julian's past and discovering his dark and dangerous side. Shockingly, what Jazzmyn finds out is more than she could have ever imagined. Jazzmyn is soon pulled in two directions and realizes that if she leaves Julian many negative consequences will occur. Determined to help Julian out of his dilemma, she can't help but wish she had given Kyle a real chance.

Alexandrea Weis does an excellent job in describing New Orleans in The Satyr's Curse. It was evident to me how much she loves her hometown. She goes into great detail about the various neighborhoods, houses, and the deep history that is found in the city, including the element of VooDoo. Having been to New Orleans a few years back, it was neat to recognize just what and where Weis was writing about.

The Satyr's Curse is definitely a novel that I recommend to readers who love mystery, paranormal elements, and romance. There are many steamy scenes in Weis' novel, as well as suspenseful moments that leave you guessing. The novel ends open ended but I was happy to see that there is a second and third book in the works.

*The author has provided me with a complimentary copy of her book, The Satyr's Curse, for the purpose of review.*

Rating: 3.5 stars

Cryptic yet alluring. The cover had me nervous about starting the read as it's very cryptic, while the words and relationships entwining the pages captivated me. Alexandrea pulled me in as I was pushing against several issues throughout the book. But Alexandrea pulled through and had me turning page after page. My first issue, is Jazzmyn...why oh why if red flags are flashing in your face do you pursue what you know you don't want? Secondly, I wanted to scream at her to just take the damn thing off because in my mind that's the pulling force. Thirdly, I hated Julian the whole way through. Was he a mysteriously kept man-hell yes, but he didn't captivate me. Fourthly, I'm completely Team Kyle and again wanted to scream at them to just be honest with one another (yet understand the story needs to build). Lastly, I was bummed that the story didn't get me going until after half way through. Before that is a lot of history and I'm sure having never been to NOLA this plays a part in that, but I couldn't get into it. But I will NEVER deny how Alexandrea's words pull me in and I want to suck up all that she's saying because you have to work for the final answers in this book and that's something I long for in a book...the angst, not handing everything to you on a silver spoon. I get anxiety thinking about my re-read of this book as I know I'll re-read it, and if there's to be a sequel holy cow we'll be in for a ride and I get anxiety thinking about that. I loved the ending, but there's a question looming overhead, therefore, that curiosity of a sequel. Cryptic, mysterious, angst fest, longing, and pain can all be checked off your list of needs satisfied from this book. Give it a try!!

The Satyr’s Curse was a rollercoaster of a love triangle. Kyle/Jazzmyn/Julian From the very beginning you knew one relationship would end up in ruin. And it was the one you thought it would be.

Jazzmyn, is a kind, loving and soft hearted soul. Her restaurant, The Sweet Note, was inherited when her father passed away and she made it a success by hiring a chef no one would touch with a ten foot pole, Kyle. He is as irritating as he is endearing and handsome. You can’t help but want to smack Jazzmyn for passing up the loyal Kyle for Julian, who only wants to control her and free himself.

Julian, you almost begin to believe his curse has taught him a valuable lesson. That is until he starts throwing around that he is instantly in love with Jazzmyn. More to the point he was obsessed with breaking the curse, a curse he earned by mistreating one of Jazzmyn’s ancestors. Maybe in his head he confused it with love but everything he did, all of his actions, it was never about loving her. So we see, Julian is still the same self-centered monster he was before his curse.

Sex, murder and deceit. This book had it all wrapped up nice and tied with a huge bow. The sex sizzled. There is no other way to describe it. But it was the underlying love that got to me. Our underdog of a hero had his vices but in the end is able to prove to Jazzmyn that he is the one who truly loves her.

I honestly enjoyed this book and look forward to the sequel Ms. Weis so expertly set up at the close of this novel.

Bravo Alexandrea!

I won a copy on Goodreads Firstreads.

Jazzmyn doesn't have much of a social life. All of her time goes towards running her New Orleans restaurant. All of the money she makes goes towards keeping her restaurant and her ancestral home.
So when a distinguished gentleman,Julian, keeps coming to her restaurant (and only drinks wine)she doesn't know how to respond her sttraction to him. To complicate matters, her staff all warn her that they don't trust him. With a serial killer on the loose, this seems like good advice. But jazzmyn seems drawn to Julian despite her own misgivings. Finally her chef, Kyle, is driving her crazy because he keeps pursuing Jazzmyn's affections as well.

When I first read the description of this book I was afraid it was going to be another New Orleans vampire tormented by his existance and longing for his true love. But good news this is not about vampires. The bad news is that it isn't a vampire story is the best part about this story. There is little action and almost no surprises either.Being true to the horror genre form, the ending is left wide open for the inevitable sequel. Unfortunately that also means there isn't any real closure to the story either.

Overall this story wasn't bad, it just didn't really stand out either. It might read better if you had the obviously planned sequel because to me this didn't feel like a full story.

I must admit that the premise of this book really intrigued me. There are soooo many supernatural creatures that are ‘go to’s in paranormal romance and I hadn’t read anything with a Satyr. So first off, congratulations to the author for stepping out of the paranormal norm to find a character for her book.

I did find it hard to get into at first – there was a lot of repetition that could have been easily edited out. However as the book moves on it opens out into something pretty sinister and dark. The main character, Jazzmyn was very likeable, although her actions toward the middle of the book weakened her somewhat in my eyes (I can’t say anymore for fear of ruining the story) There are lots of plot twists that come thick and fast and I really enjoyed the setting of New Orleans.

I did a post recently on villains and bad boys and Julian, the male lead, really falls into that category – a real sexy bad boy. I’m assuming its him on the front cover so need I say more? The front cover does miss a trick for the background, if they would have had the restaurant behind him and maybe Jazzmyn on there too – it would have been amazing.

Overall I’d give the book 3 out of 5 stars – it lost two stars for me because I found it hard to get into at first and Jazzmyn could have done with a stronger back bone. Definitely worth a read if you’re hankering for a different paranormal romance.

First off: let me admit that I waited over a year to read this and it was well worth the wait. It had me on pins-and-needles for much of the book - the imagery was GREAT and wove quite a tale of mystery, fantasy, history, and obsession.

The character of Julian Devereau was written to an extent that this reader was totally sucked into loving the man/beast. I WANTED him to have his happily ever after.....his humanity; if you will. He was.....compelling and magnetic. He was also scary, mysterious, sneaky, and wonderfully sexual........a BEAST of a man!

Jazzmyn Livaudais was a woman bent on being the dominant one in her life-decisions but when it came down to it she came up short on decisions she made for her own love life. I think she couldn't face what she desired for her 'mate' in life and that is that she wanted a strong dominant man - like Julian Devereau.

I savored the reading of this book and it was VERY much worth the wait. I'm hoping they'll be another to follow......? This reader hopes so. It's a book I'll read again......'twas that good.

I'd also read "The Ghosts of Rue Dumaine" by Alexandrea Weis and found it wonderful, as well.

Recommended. Thank you.

Gruesome murders shock New Orleans.

But Jazzmyn Livaudais is too busy running her restaurant to pay attention to the sensational headlines. And when the charismatic Julian Devereau enters Jazzmyn’s life, she becomes even more distracted by the handsome stranger.

Seduced by Julian’s charm, Jazzmyn is swept up in a passionate romance. Then she learns the horrific truth about Julian and the murders. Cursed to an unending life where no woman can satisfy his lust and no wine can quench his thirst, Julian needs Jazzmyn’s love to free him from his torment.

But Jazzmyn is in love with someone else. And Julian isn’t very happy about it. He vows to keep on killing until Jazzmyn submits to his will.

For Jazzmyn Livaudais the nightmare is just beginning.

No one can ever break The Satyr’s Curse.

I loved this book! This is a great read. It kept me reading til the very end. The ending was amazing. This is the first book I've read by this author, but I'd love to read more.

This was interesting to read. I loved the lore about the Satyr. I had never heard that version before. I thought that Kyle and Jazzmyn had too much of a love/hate thing to deny their relationship. But then Julian came along and that changed everything for everyone. Jazz had some really good people around her who genuinely care for her, and in the end they make the difference in what does happen. I'm hoping for a second book to find out what does happen to all involved. This was filled with what could pass for rich history of the city of New Orleans, I just don't know if it's true or not. It was really cool to read about though. I've always wanted to go there, and in many ways I have, but it's always in my mind. Well written, great characters, and a great story.

I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

OMG!! I didn't know what I was missing until I read this!! Alexandrea Weis is an amazing writer and the imagination that came into play with The Satyr's Curse was epic. Never in a million years would I have thought to bring a Satyr into a story like this. I highly recommend this book to those who love Paranormal Romance, you will not be disappointed.

Jazzmyn is a workaholic and doesn't have time for relationships, Kyle knows this first hand as he has been pursuing her for years. The moment Julian walks in Jazzmyn takes a new look in the romance department and decides to give it a try. However, her world is about to be turned upside down when Julian lets her in on his little secret. No matter how much of a hold he has on Jazz, she seems to always run back to Kyle. It's only a matter of time before Julian has her right where he wants her.

Full Blog Review in Progress:

3.5/5 Stars

1) Overall, loved the NOLA influence in the story. This is what had originally brought me to the story and the author did not disappoint.

2) Strong story (actually garnering 4 stars from me)until the last 1/4 of the story. It appeared author focused too heavy on the "dramatics" of the story vs. the story to carry it to the end. In other words, the ending writing was def. weaker than the early story writing. I would have liked to have seen this tightened up. It had a feeling of being rushed at the end. That was sad to me given that it was clear that the beginning was so strong.
