“There is a custom among my people,” he said, his voice shaking with emotion as it bobbed too near the surface of his tightly-lidded calm. “When one commits an immense wrong, he must sing a lament for the preservation of his soul. That is why the great wolf howls. He sings not only for his soul, but for the souls of his forefathers and all the ones who bear the curse of Kamut.”

Sometimes you just need to give more than the five stars Goodreads and Amazon allow, and this is one of them! Read on my friends, read on... Holy. Just...I'm speechless. Don't get me wrong, I loved THE SPIRIT KEEPER. But THE PROPHECY? It's hard to put it into words but I will try. It was so worth the wait. It threw me back into Sarah Redbird's life from page one. I felt like I couldn't read fast enough and was irritable when I would be interrupted while reading. I had a few tears during the last chapter and epilogue. I now feel as if I have lost a part of me. I enjoyed THE PROPHECY even more that THE SPIRIT KEEPER. If you haven't read it yet, PLEASE get your copy! Then get your copy of this one. You will NOT be sorry! At all! Then when you are done, get the rest of Melissa's books and give them a read. She has ah-may-zing talent and I have not read anything by her that has left me disappointed.
I loved both books (The Spririt Keeper and the Prophecy) very much. The story was very well written, good plot, interesting twist and characters. I found the Prophecy a great conclusion to the Spirit Keeper. The author kept the Native American legend going which was great. I was a bit disappointed about the lack of romance between Sarah and Adrian. But hey! The story was so good that I forgave her ;-) For you, readers, who do not know Melissa Luznicky Garrett, read her books. She is tremendously talented. I read all of her books and she always delivers with constancy, talent and great care for details and editing. Congratulation again! This was another great story. Thank you for entertaining me so well.
Awesomeness!!! The new characters are fantastic addition. I read this book in a matter of a few hours. It is that interesting, so much so, that I wish there were a few more books, unfortunately, it's just a two book series. Fortunately though, both books are well written with surprises, suspense, romance and even a little laughter. I love Sarah Redbird, this girl is so awesome and I relate well to her.
I was bummed at the static between Adrain and Sarah; I feared they'd break up. However, everything works out, so I'm happy. I was a little surprised at who the trouble maker was, but as things added up, it made sense. Well done Ms Garrett. I look forward to reading more of Ms Garrett's books.
I was given a copy of this from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed The Spirit Keeper and The Prophecy was a great follow up, going deeper into the story and wrapping up loose ends. I loved all the Indian lore and backstory that gets woven into the overall story and there is a bit of a twist to the whole thing that I wasn't expecting and quite pleasantly surprised to see. There was still that bit of romance and teenaged angst that makes YA so good and makes the characters seem believable.
It's a great sequel that doesn't leave you hanging in any aspect, which is pretty satisfying.
This book was great, it is the second book in the series and my favorite of the two. I love Sarah Redbirds story and once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. There were so many surprises in this book, I have to say that some of them I didn't expect but really glad that it happened. I love all of the characters except the snobby girls that pick on Sarah. I really loved the ending and so glad that it worked out the way it did.
A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
A fantastic conclusion to Sarah Redbird's story. I hadn't read "The Spirit Keeper" in awhile but I was pulled right back into it once I started reading "The Prophecy". Melissa channels those feelings of teenage angst & confusion so well I was literally squirming in my seat in anxiety for these characters. Not very many book series only have two novels, so I love the fact that Melissa was able to wrap up everything the way she did. My teenage daughter loved the first book & she's anticipating reading this one! Melissa Luznicky Garrett has written yet another winner.
I really liked this one it was better than the first honestly and I enjoyed the first one! Sarah was finally getting used to her being the spirit keeper of her tribe but then you throw in her father, a new uncle, a brother? She had a lot of changes thrown at her and then finding out a whole tribe is relying on her to break a curse plus boyfriend issues on top of that then throw graduating on top of that... She had many many changes in this book but it was very good and kept me entertained couldn't put it down.
Action amps up a lot, in comparison to book #1, which was good. Pacing also seems to move a lot faster, another bonus. The main character, and heroine, of the book isn't any less whiney but because of everything that's happening, it's less irritating.
So what makes Sarah (and the other female characters) so bothersome? Mostly the typical teenage behavior that makes adults cringe and want to walk out of a room with frustration. Luckily a lot of that seems to be remedied in this book.
This picks up where The Spirit Keeper leaves off. Sarah finds out she has a brother...she meets her father...finds out who killed her mother & grand parents...and the good vs evil thing we saw coming? Well, your going to have to read it, but I will tell you, there are some surprises, some I never saw coming.....you are going to be amazed at the ending. I truly was!
I like this more than the first one. I adored Caleb and the story was interesting throughout the book. However it felt like the whole thing was a bit rushed. Everything happened so abruptly and I didn't really get to see how the happenings influenced the characters, if that makes sense.
But this was a really interesting and fun story and like able characters.
Very good read. This book and the first book deserves a 5 star rating. I just could not stop reading it. I would recommend this book to everyone. It would be great if there is a 3rd book. I will read all her books.
Blew through this book much quicker than the first. Definitely less involved on the relationship side of things, which is definitely okay by me. Melissa is a great storyteller.
