She must return to Rowley, and slips deeper into the city's dark underworld. Then Vaihan's suspected in an assassination attempt against the President, and Leera has to find the courage to do what's right and save him, or lose not only Vaihan and the leader of the free world, but her heart and soul.

In Sins of the Undead Patriot by a.c. Mason (a.c.M), the world has changed. Zombies are among us, but they are not like the undead we have come to know about. They don’t moan incoherently or rot, nor do they have hanging or trailing body pieces – just the contrary. Zombies are articulate and are very much sought after for a shot of their Z-luv as their saliva, semen, and blood are highly addictive, paralyzing their victims in a state of pleasure until the feeding begins. What feeding? Oh yes, I forgot to mention – these zombies do in fact feed on human flesh – preferably African Americans as they taste sweeter.
But things aren’t so black and white – the government has their hands in the Zombie pot as they clone humans for parts for the wealthy who can afford it, and the Zombie gladly destroy all the delicious evidence. The government also hires them to do what humans can’t, and if a Zombie cooperates with the government, the feds will in turn integrate them into society and give them identities.
Vaihan Louchian is one such zombie. Being an Ancient (a zombie more than 100 years old), he moonlights as a CIA agent. He is is hired by Barton, a government agent, to prove that some individuals (Peter and Rowley) are getting funding for terrorist activities.
Bringing these individuals down is important as they are involved with opposing the Bill of Undead Rights – a bill Vaihan strongly supports. So how exactly will Vaihan get access to these high profile individuals to help out Barton? Well, Vaihan will have to go through Leera Waltz, sister to Peter, one of the men he’s trying to trap. Vaihan will have to romance Leera, a recent widow, and find out what he can through her about Peter and Rowley (who happens to be Leera’s ex-lover and is now partners with Peter) all while he fights the urge to literally eat her alive – especially since she’s African American.
But this isn’t a covert mission. Leera is in on Vaihan’s play - as Barton, a government agent seems to be playing ALL sides of the fence as he lets Leera in on Vaihan’s intentions. In order to save and exonerate Peter, her brother, from being incriminated by Vaihan, Leera accepts to romance Vaihan and Rowley–and report back everything she hears back to Barton. But all plans are shot to hell when the mission at hand takes a back burner to everyone’s feelings.
Rowley hopes to rekindle his past relationship with Leera, but Leera is torn between what she feels for Rowley and everything Vaihan has to offer. In between her relationship woes, Leera is caught between an extremely dangerous espionage game that will leave her scarred for life – if she survives.
What I liked about Sins of the Undead Patriot:
1. Sex, sex, sex! This book has so much sex, I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect blend of all my erotica faves: a ménage featuring M/F/M, oral, and backdoor play, plus there was a splash of m/m and a scene of almost overdose from zombie sex! *happy julie*
2. Double/Triple Cross. There are so many players trying to push their own agendas that just when you think you have a character figured out, you end up shocked at the turn of events. Just loved how the plot always kept me guessing and all the twists and turns masterfully entwined in the story.
3. Devin! I couldn’t get enough of Devin (Rowley’s right hand man). Being the only person Rowley trusted quickly earned him a place by Rowley’s side and a chance to share in Rowley’s relationship with Leera. Devin was so hottt and sexxy I was right there with Leera, not knowing how to keep Rowley from finding out she preferred Devin’s company! *fans self* I was so shocked at the part Devin plays at the end of the book – genius plot twist!
4. Vaihan. Before I started reading, I couldn’t think of any conceivable way a zombie could be sexy, but because of a.c.M’s amazing writing skills, by the end of the book, I couldn’t get enough of Vaihan and his sexxy ways. Just loved him and Leera together. :)
What I didn’t like about Sins of the Undead Patriot:
The ending. Be prepared for a cliffy ending. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series whose tentative release date is set for November 2013. *faints* What am I going to do until then? *sobs*
A special thanks to A.C. Mason for providing this book in exchange for an honest review. Read this review and more @ www.thebookwranglers.com
So it’s my first ZOMBIE/(undead) book and I have to say, it didn’t let me down. This story was the perfect combination of everything I like. You’ve got political conflict, double crossings, a lot of lies, major betrayals, some pretty fun ass kicking, crazy hot sex, and some very confused and trouble characters. What more could I possibly ask for?
SYNOPSIS: Vaihan Louchian is an Ancient Zombie that works as a special adviser to the President, and also works with Homeland Security in D.C. in his spare time. He’s currently working with the President to pass the Bill of the Undead Rights–which has the terrorist attacks at an all time height–and being a highly respected figurehead for his kind has also made him a target for the living. When a CIA agent comes to him with a plan (that involves a beautiful woman) to take down the leader of one of the groups Vaihan can’t resist.
Enter Leera Waltz.
Leera is a severely emotionally damaged woman due to her past. Take that information and combine it with that fact that she’s still mourning the loss of her husband less than a year ago and she’s now prime meat. When she’s approached to help the CIA in order to save her brother, she doesn’t even blink, finally she can try to pay him back for all the trouble she’s caused over the years. But things quickly change when they ask her to cuddle up close to Vaihan and Rowley, her ex and leader of a terrorist group in order to retrieve information.(SHE’S IN A HEEP OF S**T)
The lines begin to blur as Vaihan and Leera attempt to seduce one another. Vaihan hasn’t responded to any woman (in centuries) the way he’s responding to Leera. This reaction has him questioning if this game that he’s playing isn’t real and if his feeling could possibly put her in danger. Leera on the other hand is burning her candle from both ends. It seems every time she turns around she's always dropping her clothes
for one of these men. The connection she feels towards Vaihan has her desiring things she never thought she’d want, but this two-sided play will consume her if she’s not careful. The closer she gets to Vaihan the more Rowley wants her for himself and Vaihan out of the way.
Mix in a near death experience, a hot sex scene with Vaihan and Leera, a scandalous and spicy between Rowley, Leera and Rowley’s friend and undercover agent Devin, an attack on the President’s life, and some pretty screwed up emotional baggage and you’ve got a great story.
The BEST Thing: This is my very first ZOMBIE/undead book. I know that may be sad to admit but it’s true and I really enjoyed it!
I loved how the story was always flowing and never stagnate. While I love flashbacks in stories to help tell the past I’m glad that I didn’t have to deal with that in this book. A.C. was able to hold my attention by sharing a brief synopsis of a character’s past when a current scene needed to be explained. (ex. Vaihan not wanting to take the next step with Leera sexually because of his obsession to protect women. This was explained by quickly sharing his past real relationship with Elizabeth.)
I also loved multiple layers of sabotage that A.C. created with Vaihan, Leera, Rowley, Devin and Barton. This kept me guessing on who would find out the whole truth first. (LOVE IT). And of course the build-up to the sex scenes between everyone with all the combustible chemistry had me blushing.
The WORST Thing: I’m sure Leera’s character was purposely written to irritate the reader at times but my god. This chick, who I was totally gunning for in the beginning, pissed me off so much. I hated how she would use her broken emotions to get what she wanted and then play victim. Okay, she was a victim sometimes, however she made too many silly a** decisions that made me want to slap her. I also hated how she supposedly made ‘CONNECTIONS’ with all of these men so quickly.
Wow! What an incredible action packed, suspense, ultra-heavy, dark read. In my honest opinion ac Mason always brings the unimaginable to life in her narratives. Ms. Mason produces depth of sensuality with an ambience cloaked in darkness and magnetism that you can not release the book until the last punctuation mark. The characters are irrefutably defined. The same holds true in the settings, storyline of her book. The setting in Sins Of the Undead Patriot is a locale I am very familiar with and could relate to this because I grew up in metropolitan DC area. The portrayal of Georgetown and other places were so on point from the locations and the energy that permeates that region. Ms. Mason clearly understands the back-room dealings, underhanded, down and dirty political scene and conspiracies are profoundly depicted. The title: Sins of the Undead Patriot is so appropriate which you will discover as you delve deeper into the multi-plots engineered by Ms. Mason, and her characters Vaihan Louchian and Leera Waltz. All of the story elements necessary for a book to receive the “wow factor” are manifested brilliantly. Characters in Sins of the Undead Patriot are believable in one sense yet off the wall possessed with all things wild, crazy and can only exist in one's mind are intricately woven in each personality.
Occasionally, I found myself revisiting segments of the book as I felt a bit lost, I must have missed a critical element since I was so befuddled. The activities within the book are unearthed and without a doubt a powerful demonstration of Ms. Mason's ingenuity for molding a highly provocative fantasy that burrows into the mind of the reader and leaves you with an after taste lasting for quite some time. Ms. Mason's characters, a few conflicts, the plots and conclusion have as many facets as a diamond.
Although I normally stray away from novels with dark ambience and characters who delight in digesting living human body parts however, I was riveted by this tale of conspiracies, love, wild lust and pain. Sins of the Undead Patriot possesses the intoxicating flow of words that swallows the reader entirely. Thank goodness Sins of the Undead Patriot is just a book and zombies don't exist in my world. If zombies were genuine I would remain under the bed shivering like a small child hearing his or her first ghost story.
The characterizations of the lead personalities in Sins of the Undead Patriot are relatable but I would not have them in my circle of associates, their energies contain an inescapable magnetic pull on the soul that is all consuming.
Vaihan Louchian, Homeland Security operative, Special Advisor to the President and a gorgeous blue man classified as an Ancient Zombie. I like Vaihan partly because of his OCD and his sexiness and talent for being a carnally mind-blowing zombie. I felt his warm, caring energy that produces true love as a bona fide example of a patriot; one who sacrifices everything for the causes he believes in.
Leera Waltz, daughter of former political figure, is beautiful woman although extremely conflicted which oppresses her throughout her life. Keeping secrets and harboring the scars of those horrendous issues physically and mentally from childhood to adulthood appears justifiable for the betterment of others. She too is a patriot of sorts. Leera has a challenging quest before her on all levels as she works to bring about justice and honor. Her decisions to fight for freedom could cause her everything she holds dear.
Rowley, Leera's boyfriend is not the type would hope for in a mate yet there were times when I appreciated his love for Leera. I also felt bit of hostility for his covert involvement into things which were dangerous for individual close to him and Leera. Ms. Mason has done it once more shocking the reader and a glutton for punishment as she sprinkles her addictive writing skills will have you eagerly anticipating the next fantastic voyage into the dark, seedy world of the unknown.
I have read three previous novels of a.c. Mason, and really enjoyed them. When I was offered a chance to review Sins Of The Undead Patriot, I was excited at the opportunity.
Vaihan Louchian is considered an Ancient Zombie, and the Special Advisor to the President. He is sent on a special mission to take down Rowley the leader of a Anti Zombie Terrorist Cell. Vaihan's way into the cell is through seducing Leera Waltz. Leera is Rowley's girlfriend.
What Vaihan doesn't know is that Leera is on her own mission. A mission to save her brother, and she will complete her mission by any means necessary. Even if that means seducing Rowley, and the devastatingly handsome zombie.
Leera and Vaihan's instant attraction, and feelings for each other, wasn't part of either of their plans.
This story was a different kind of read for me, and was a lot darker then my usual reads. There was a lot going on in the story, and at times you were never sure who you could trust. I don't usually read erotic novels involving zombies, but Vaihan's character was intriguing. I instantly warmed up to him. His character, was like able even sexy for a zombie.
Vaihan was clearly trying to do what was right, but was struggling with issues from his past. Things that shaped him into the man that he is.
Leera was a relatable heroine, and had clearly been through a lot. I understood her situation, but I couldn't really warm up to her, like I could Vaihan. Her character irritated me at times, but I still liked her as a strong female lead.
The plot was well thought out, and the author obviously cared for her characters. I was surprised at some of the twist, and revelations revealed throughout the story.
If you are into thrilling edgy erotic romance with a hot zombie, then this book is certainly for you. I'm almost certain I will pick up the next book in the series, just to discover how things turn out with Leera and Vaihan.
I can honestly say that I have never read a story quite like Sins of the Undead Patriot. Of course, I’ve never read a zombie romance before either. Having said that, I had no preconceived notions of what this story should be.
The sex is H O T and, um, creative at times. There’s M/F, M/M, M/F/M and a little other thrown in for fun! The plot has more twists and turns that my son’s slinky, but so much fun to try to follow along and unravel (yes, I have unravelled a slinky, why do you ask?). How one corrupt agent causes so much trouble is impressive. Add in terrorists, undercover agents, and a truly messed up woman and you have the perfect mix for a paranormal thriller. Oh, and Vaihan is just as deadly as he is sexy—even if his sperm is poison and addictive. Yes, zombies are seriously twisted creatures in a.c.’s world, but also fascinating and yummy (or is that humans that are yummy, lol).
I loved Sins and am thrilled that the sequel is slated to be released this fall (hurry up fall) as I can’t wait to read more. . . especially with how the story ended . . . If you love mystery, paranormal, and sex, then Sins of the Undead Patriot is a must read.
I've been avoiding coming back to this, so I guess I should listen to my gut and DNF @10%. DNF @10%
Book source ~ Review copy. My review is voluntary and honest.
Vaihan Louchian is a zombie and a special advisor to the President. Leera Waltz is a pawn. Rowley is some wing-nut who is anti-zombie. And there’s some guy (I can’t even be bothered to remember his name) who I have no idea whose side he’s on.
I usually try to give books more than 10% to see if it gets better, but when I stopped at 10% I just couldn’t gather a single drop of enthusiasm to come back to it. Vaihan is described as Ancient. Um, he’s 100 yrs old. I’m 51, nearly 52. What the fuck does that make me? Semi-Ancient? Wtf. Leera is sexually assaulted by this guy who is playing all sides. At least, I think he is? Anyway, she’s a wimp. And I have no idea what is going on. The writing is convoluted and boring. I think this is trying to be a military/political thriller with a paranormal twist and failing spectacularly. Maybe someone else will like this better.
I was given this copy by publisher for review, but as always on the basis that my opinion is honestly held, and whether paid for or free my views are not influenced by that. Integrity is important to me and gushing false reviews do neither author or reader any favours. As always my views are what I honestly feel about this book. WARNING: Questionable sexual situations that will disturb some readers, such as abuse, bondage and drug use. Graphic violence and sex, including taboo play. M/F. M/F/M. M/M. This book is in the paranormal/erotic romance genre and fits well within that description. Vaihan Louchian, Ancient Zombie and Special Advisor to the President, dabbles in contracts for Homeland Security. He is given a mission to save the president by seducing widow Leera Waltz so he can take down her boyfriend Rowley, leader of the anti-zombie terrorist movement. Vaihan and the President work the Bill of Undead Rights through the Senate, but terrorist attacks rise. Leera is also on a mission though and hers include seducing Vaihan and Rowley to save her brother. But both Vaihan and Leera didn't plan on forming feelings for each other.
If you like thrillers such as those written by John Grisham where there is lots of plotting, double dealing and action you'll enjoy this book – its like that but with undead – zombies and Vaihan is one sexy Zombie. I enjoyed the touches of humour that lightened some of the darker moments and there were plenty of those. What I didn't like was that I found Leera difficult to warm to – I know she was being blackmailed, and grieving for her husband but her actions were odd at times and I wanted to shake her and say get a grip woman. She seemed to flip from sex with one person to another without any real emotion except for one time when she was forced/persuaded to do something she wasn't happy about. I struggled with the double dealing getting confused who was on whose side – that’s a fault of mine and not the author but meant much of the nuances of the book probably passed me by. The warning given in the description is well placed – some scenes are pretty graphic and also the food the zombies need to consume can be a bit gruesome to read even if nicely dressed with spices and organ “jus”..... I wasn't happy about the ending – it came quite abruptly and I was expecting more – I guess that’s been left for a sequel and while I love books written as a series I do like each book to finish properly. The editing was well done, pretty much error free and good value for money at $5.99 for 320 pages.
Stars: 3.5 as sadly for me I didn't really take to this book but that’s because its not really my style, as I got really lost in all the double dealing plots and had to keep checking who was doing what and why – spoils the fun but if you love this type of thing and the addition of the paranormal influence you'll rate it higher.
Vaihan Louchian is an ancient zombie and adviser to the President. He is given the task of taking down Rowley a man who is leader of the anti-zombie terrorist movement. The only way Vaihan can get close to Rowley is by seducing Leera Rowley's on and off girlfriend. This is a task he does not want to do because he hasn't been close to anyone in years. He soon begins to care more for Leera than his mission. Leera has a mission as well. To protect a family member she needs to date Vaihan and keep an eye on Rowley as well. She isn't quite over the death of her husband but does all she can to help her family. Vaihan soon works his way into her heart and she has to find away to keep him safe as well even when she has betrayed him. Several lives are on the line and Vaihan and Leera may be the key to saving them or destroying them. The past has a way of coming between them they will have to overcome them.
Vaihan isn't like most zombies you read about. He is just like a regular person except he doesn't die and eats things a normal person wouldn't. He is a hotty and generally cares for other people. He has a disadvantage as his fluids are poison to people. This doesn't take away from how great he is. I really liked this character. Rowley I have to say I wanted to kill myself. He is a user and does not care to hurt those he supposedly loves. Leera is harder for me to understand. I know she is in a hard place but this chick bounces around so much. She uses sleeping with people to escape her reality. I liked her and I didn't at the same time. Another character that I did like is Devin. Even if he has did bad stuff in the past it seems everyone abuses and uses this man. I really liked him maybe even more than Vaihan.
This book is very dark, daring, sexy and intriguing all rolled into one amazing package. I always love reading books about zombies and this one sure does rock. You never really know who is going to betray who and what will happen next. I got sucked into the dark world the author create and really didn't want to find my way out. The sex scenes range from sexy to scary at times but they aren't really all about the sex. In a way it lets you see different sides of the characters and just what all they are willing to do to get what they want. This is one book that will keep you guessing at just what will happen next. I for one can not wait till the next book comes out after the ending this one has I have to know what is going to happen next. This is a different world and it is a dark one so be warned before you pick this book up the warning you see is one you need to heed. I really enjoyed it and if you want a darker harsher book that is quite different than others pick this up.
The zombies in this story were different than most stories. They are intelligent, able to control themselves and trying to become citizens. The author had several twists and turns in the storyline that was unexpected but good. I really liked the plot that the author wrote and the ending had just enough of a cliffhanger to have you wanting to read the next one if there is another one.
This story was not entirely what I expected however. It was hard for me to determine when the characters were just thinking the comments and when they were actually saying something out loud. Also I did not always know who was talking or thinking what because I had a couple of the characters confused for a while. Once you got further into the story it was a little easier to follow because you got to know the characters a little better.
Leera in this story has some issues to figure out and get her head straight the author did a good job at showing this as well as the other emotions and feelings of the other characters. The author it felt put a lot of thought into the plot and characters. If she does write a sequel to this story I am interested in checking it out and seeing what happens with Leera and Vaihan.
*I recevied this book free from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.*
