War! Kings have fallen and wizards battle magical creatures all across the Five Kingdoms. Zollin pursues his nemesis south, but he isn’t the only one focused on changing the Five Kingdoms. Offendorl, Master of the Torr limps home in hopes of regaining his former glory. Armies from Falxis and Ortis march toward Osla, intent on taking the wealthy kingdom’s treasures for themselves. King Zorlan dreams of conquering the Five Kingdoms and creating an Empire. And Gwendolyn the Sorceress Witch has returned to the tower of the Torr and taken her old master’s place. But will the feverish grasping for power reshape the Five Kingdoms for the better, or unleash something much, much worse?
I was really enjoying this series of books, but feel the author has taken a wrong turn, instead of bringing the series to its natural conclusion as it deserved, he has turned the story on its head and developed a new "enemy" which doesn't sit well within the general bones of the story to date. The new twist seems to bear striking resemblance to the Lord of the Rings, albeit as a poor relation.
In short; I was left feeling that the expanding of storyline had more to do with selling more books to an audience that had to date been loyal to the series and less with the telling of a good story.
Three stars because I enjoyed all but the last 5th of the book.
I enjoyed the first seven books of the Five Kingdoms series. My review is in the first of the books. But elements were introduced as the series progressed that made me decide not to continue after seven.
I admire Neighbors' writing skills and his imagination. For readers who don't share my objections, you may find him to be one if the best authors you read. Characters like Zollin are what place a book in my favorites list. But, Zollin's morality was not typical of the characters in the story, even the 'good' ones.
This is the 5th book in the five kingdomes series and it just came out the other day so this website does not have it yet I had to create it to add it to my books. Well I loved it and cant wait for the next but I still say he needs to fire his editor and this time I told him that and he said he had a different one edit this book and there was so much wrong with the editing of this book it was really hard to read. Names were mixed up and used for the wrong people and there were whole sentinces you had to rewrite in your head just to read it propperly. It is really disappointing. If I bought this book in paper form and not on my kindle I would have went through with a pen and edited as I went. I am amazed that the person that edited this book even has that kind of job because it is obviousness that this person is not qualified for it. Well any way it is a good story and I will still keep reading because of that but I just really hope that the next one is properly edited.
Fierce Loyalty is an Epic Fantasy novel. It’s the 5th novel in the Five Kingdoms series. Basically, the Five Kingdoms books tells the story of Zollin, a young man who discovers he is a wizard. In the world of the Five Kingdoms, magic is strictly controlled by a group of wizards known as the Torr. When Zollin refuses to join the Torr, it sets in motion a grand adventure and in Fierce Loyalty Zollin finally confronts the evil master of the Torr. The book ends with a great twist. Now I'm all caught up, Wait until you see what happens in this book. Things are morphing throughout the entire story. These characters have matured so much that you just cannot phantom what the next chapter will hold. I highly recommend that readers start at book 1 or else you won't have all the meaty parts of the story which leads to here. Great writing and charaters have developed nicely, making you fall in love with them. On to the next. Great reading everyone!
In this fifth book of The Five Kingdoms Brianna has discovered that she has magical powers and Zollin is bound and determined to find the dragon that nearly killed him. Meanwhile a wizard and a witch either want to control him or see him dead. The great war between the kingdoms has started and Zollin finds himself in the middle of it all. Brianna appears with a helpful surprise just in the nick of time.
I like this series but I was hoping it would end with this book however the author has more stories to tell so I will continue reading as I do like the characters and wonder what will happen to them all.
(There were quite a few typos in my Kindle copy and one glaring mistake when the author put Wilam's name where Zollin's should have been. This does not detract from the story but it is irritating to see so many mistakes in the books I read today.)
All right, so I have been a fan of this series since the end of the first book. I believe the story has evolved into a great new science fiction fantasy series. I've felt that things changed a little in this book, but not in an overall negative sense. Mostly it is a personal opinion. I'm not very keen with the progression of the Brianna character and I will leave it at that as to avoid spoilers. The pace of this book was sort of slow and I felt challenged about a third into it, to just finish it and take a break and read other things. However, I will say that it picks up closer to the end which reignited my excitement for the story and its continued editions. The author keeps proving that he has phenomenal storytelling ability and I do enjoy his characters and the world in which they live.
Wait until you see what happens in this book. Things are morphing throughout the entire story. These characters have matured so much that you just cannot phantom what the next chapter will hold. I highly recommend that readers start at book 1 or else you won't have all the meaty information that makes this great read.
This book builds to an unbelievable twist ending. It seems at first like the book might be plodding along and more of the same struggling that Zollin, Brianna and their friends have been use to. However you get the sense that something bigger is brewing, and truly something earth shattering is.
Great work Toby. I have the next book and just starting it. Have to say I a was not expecting the whole end of book five. Twists but at least there is more :)
